The Dark Side #1

Four Psychos

Listening Length: 6 hours

I'm not so different from most people.
Like everyone else, I have life goals.

Goal #1: Become a real girl instead of this invisible ghost thing I currently am.

Goal #2: Convince the four men I've been haunting for the past five years to pick me to be their new toy after goal one is complete.

Goal #3: Figure out who/what I am and why I can't remember anything past the five years I've been haunting this quad.

Goal #4: Eat popcorn.

See? Perfectly normal. Sort of.
Gotta start small, after all.
It's not like anyone else is perfect either.

**Sexual situations
**Reverse Harem
**Dark humor galore
**Language warning

Kristy Cunning always loves a good laugh, and lives and breathes the emotions of the characters she becomes attached to.

Though she came from a family of musicians, she has zero abilities with instruments; she sounds like a strangled cat when she sings; and her dancing is downright embarrassing. Just ask anyone who knows her. Her creativity rests solely in the written word. Her family is grateful that she gave up her quest to become a famous singer.

Kristy Cunning is one of the pen names C.M. Owens writes under.

This one is funny, awkward, a little steamy and very unique.

It drew me in right away by steering clear of all my usual RH pet peeves:
-no special snowflake heroine
-no insta-love
-no tragic backstory
-no fabricated drama

It's always refreshing when the plot doesn't bend over backwards to accommodate a reverse harem heroine's drama. (I'm looking at you, Kit Davenport!)

Keyla, the heroine in question, starts the book as an incorporeal spirit watching over four sexy supernatural roommates. She's been watching their every movement for upwards of five years, which to be honest is seriously disturbing. However, Keyla fades into nonexistence when separated from the heroes for too long.
The heroes - Ezekiel, Kai, Gage, and Jude - are suddenly able to see/hear Keyla due to a freak ambush and don't know whether to be creeped out or turned on by their new sidekick.

Keyla's powers continue to grow and her relationship with the guys is... rocky. To say the least.

But that's the best part of the book. The men are skeptical, suspicious, and sometimes downright mean to Keyla - instead of tripping over their own feet trying to shower her with attention. Keyla stands her ground, calling bullshit when she sees it and guarding her heart appropriately.
The relationship built up in the series is about as realistic as reverse harem can get. Considering this book involves a ghost and mostly takes place in hell, that's a serious achievement.

Hands down the best Keyla quote: "My epiphany has been that none of you deserve me. You can look. You can fantasize. Like I've had to. Try to bring home a woman, and I'll make farting noises while wearing a dolphin costume and acting like I'm humping each of you. See how long you can hold an erection then."

There was a lot of things I should have been doing today, but after waking up not feeling well, I said, fuck it! I'm staying in bed and reading. I still feel bad, so this is going to be super short and sweet.

Reverse Harem is my crack, and I love whenever I get a chance to read it. My friend from Instagram recommend this to me, and I'm so glad she did! It was exactly what I needed to make my shitty day a little bit more bearable.

4 hot guys that work for hell preventing damned souls from getting out into in the world live together in a house haunted by a ghost that has no idea who or what she is. She doesn't remember being alive, and she doesn't remember dying either. After watching the guys for 5 years, they are finally able to see her when she uses powers she didn't know she had to save them. Instead of being grateful to her, the guys are immediately suspicious. It's not long before they realize that they are the only ones that can see her, and they have some sort of bond between them. We get trips to purgatory and hell, comedy, action, suspense, and steam!

Bottomline, Four Psychos was fun, sexy, held my interest, and left me dying to read the next one! In case any of you don't know, Kristy Cunning is a pen name for C.M. Owens. I didn't even now she wrote RH! I really hope she keeps it up! If you are a fan of paranormal reverse harem, this one is for you!

4.5 stars. Envying and laughing alongside a ghost? That's a new low, even for me... what comes next?
👁️👅👁️

Respectfully, books like this are the reason I keep reading <3

This story committed a grave crime against the prejudice I harbor towards the fantasy/paranormal genre and a reverse harem trope. 😔

I saw a bunch of reviews for this one that made me think I needed it in my life. They were right. I just didn't know that I needed a book about four man-whores and their ghost-girl protector. But, life often works out that way, doesn't it? I mean, look at an artichoke. Who the hell thought of eating that thing? And yet artichoke is awesome.
But really, how hungry was the dude who ate it first?

Mayo? Ugh! No! Butter, you Neanderthals!

Usually I tend to skip books that are helly and demonish and devily. It must be my Christian background guilt. Of course, that guilt doesn't seem to make itself known when I read utter smut or do many many many other bad things... So, now I'm reading a devil book with tons of smut too. Take that, conscience!

Not your decision, jerk! I still have a chance.... I can be nice. I give to charity. Sure, it's the girl scouts and I get cookies out of the deal, but still.. it's the thought that counts right?
*sigh* At least I like hot weather.

In this book, you do get to visit hell quite a bit, and purgatory. Also, there is the devil, and you won't believe it, but he's kind of an asshole. I know, right?

There was tons of humor, tons of smut, and a lot of good killy fun. The ghost-girl is awesome, and the four psychos really were psycho-ey. They were down with the whole Bros Before Hoes thing, which I liked because I hate when books have the guys all acting like the girl is the most important thing on earth even though they've been friends for hundreds of years.

Ghost-girl was just kind of adorable in a way. I know that's a weird word to use, especially since she is all about having 5-way sex with the psycho-brothers. But, she's so naive at the same time that you can't help but like her. Also, she's got the crazy-jealous-girlfriend thing going that I admire:

“Try to bring home a woman, and I'll make farting noises while wearing a dolphin costume and acting like I'm humping each of you. See how long you can hold an erection then.”

That's some good crazy right there.

She's right, John. Nobody likes a little bitch.

So, do you want to read this book? If you want super-smut, hellish stuff, lots of blood, plenty of humor, and an ending that is open for the next book - then yes. Yes, you do.

"I'm neither here nor there. Alive nor dead."

This is book one of a four book series by CM Owens. The heroine is very funny and lovable I simply adored her. It's actually not packed with sex scenes and fyi didn't have any though it was very angsty.

Definitely a well written and enjoyable read that left me interested to see what happens next!

So I did not expect to find a new favorite series while going on my reverse harem binge but here we are!! I freaking LOVED the Dark Side series! It’s a PNR RH with a ghost heroine who’s been haunting 4 guys who can’t see her… until they finally do. The heroine is hilarious and ridiculous - she will literally say anything that comes into her mind, and I found myself laughing so hard throughout this book and series. It gets twisty and dark and full of action. The heroes are these sort of warriors from hell who want her but can’t touch her (… for a while at least). There’s never a dull moment with our 5 characters.

***

Hellooooo I am currently obsessed with this PNR reverse harem series so I will be back with a longer review later!!

UPDATE SAFETY INFO courtesy of the always wonderful, safetygang pal Kara! Thank you so much!

Unsafe read because

I'll pass on this one, but if you don't mind OW, and love harem stories this one is only .99 or free on Kindle unlimited.

ORIGINAL NONREVIEW

***SAFETY GANG, INFO NEEDED ***
I need safety info. Obviously this one isn't safe because it's a reverse harem story but If this one is anything like Trickery (which I enjoyed despite safety issues) maybe I'll give it a chance.

So the question here is: After the heroine meets her "harem" is there any kind of Other woman drama?

Reread as a BR with my fellow RH junkies~

"J! U! D! E! What's that spell? Major dick, yes, sir-ree!"

five-stars
sass + fun + smart ass heroine + douchebag males = awesome first book

You learn a lot about your moral compass when yours is the only opinion that matters. Turns out, I'm an unapologetic psychopath.

THIS. BOOK. IS. SO. MUCH. FUN.

+ Hooked from page 1.
+ The plot is very mysterious.
+ Keyla is an awesome character: She's fun, she's kind of naive, she wears sexy outfits to piss the four psychos off (and it works) and she relates to Pinocchio.
+ And we have no idea what she is.
+ The four psychos deserve their surname: They're assholes, major dicks, ungrateful brats, they act like horny beasts & definitely don't deserve Keyla.
+ And we have no idea what they are.
+ It's a four books series and book two is already out.
+ It has a bit of a Curse of the Gods feeling so I could not not like it.
+ It's really funny.
+ Really really funny.
+ And entertaining.
+ And did I say it was funny?

"And therefore, my epiphany has been that none of you deserve me. You can look. You can fantasize. Like I've had to. Try bringing home a woman, and I'll make farting noises while wearing a dolphin costume and acting like I'm humping each of you. See how long you can hold an erection then."

I picked up this book expecting a devious sex-fest with a barely mentioned plot tying into it with the express purpose of creating more and unique ways for the characters to get it on.

Unfortunately there is a lot of world building, and character arcs and back story and mythology.

I’m actually offended. I had EXPECTATIONS. You don’t pick up this kind of novel expecting to memorize complicated mythology, okay? Clearly some kind of contract has been broken here.

Get your shit together in the next installment, guys.

Also, the continued use of the word g*pped (which is a slur) was very aggravating. I knocked off a star just for that alone.

3.75✨

Jude butts in. “The point is, we can’t enjoy a woman, unless we enjoy her together. It’s part of the bond. None of us have ever had a woman on our own.”
“So if you were a boy band, you’d be One Erection,” I state, rambling because they have me nervous.”

really good

fav thing : the heroine
fav from the guys so far : maybe ezekiel, and i get the appeal of jude (though he’s an asshole now). but i dunno, we haven’t spend time together w/ any of them long enough to know.
so, my fav from the guys so far : has yet to be decided

”None of you are listeners. None of you care that I can’t change the channels on the TV, nor do you ever ask me if you can do something for me.”
“You never ask for anything,” Kai points out with a roll of his eyes.
“Exactly! I ask for nothing! And you inconsiderate assholes never bother to take that into consideration. I don’t even have a light on in my bedroom. I’ve been dying to watch that movie, and you ruined it,” I rant on, darting an annoyed gaze at Jude.
His lips merely twitch because he’s an unapologetic dick.
“And therefore, my epiphany has been that none of you deserve me. You can look. You can fantasize. Like I’ve had to. Try to bring home a woman, and I’ll make farting noises while wearing a dolphin costume and acting like I’m humping each of you. See how long you can hold an erection then,” I carry on, feeling a little proud of that threat as they all eye me like the psychotic girl in the room.”

the heroine was sort of kind of a ghost.
but not.
but kind of,
but not really.
at first she was invisible even to the heroes,
but something happened and she's not anymore.
she got plentya ability but her being able to change her outfit to whatever & whenever she likes? mewantdat

the heroes aren’t human either apparently. so many things we still haven’t figure out. there hasn’t been that much romance yet, which i liked cuz this was not long. we also haven’t got any idea as to why the heroine was stuck w/ these 4 guys. so mostly we just spend time w/ the heroine wandering around the heroes, saving their asses (she was apparently their guardian) & finding out little by little bout the heroes’ world

my least fav thing in this book, is the world building. it was just freakin fuzzy to me, i don’t really get how things in their world works and just couldn’t follow their conversations when the characters were explaining things to the heroine. so 3.75✨

UMMM HELLO THIS WAS SO GOOD. This is a reverse harem and our heroine is a ghost. She’s spent the last five years watching these four guys and the book starts around the time the guys can finally see her. I knew she was a ghost, but I didn’t know the guys all had supernatural abilities too and that this book involved a series of trials the guys go through. I LOVE THAT. And I loved the relationship she has with all four guys. This book teases us so much and I am DYING to read the next book. I definitely recommend picking this series up!!

This wasn't perfect but it was definitely fun to read!

KEYLA WAS HILARIOUS and I loved her internal monologues. I don't know what it is about RH heroines but they're always so sassy and have such a goofy type of humor that is enjoyable to read when you're in the mood for it

I LOVED HOW KEYLA didn't take any shit from the boys and straight up told them every time they did something wrong. She spent years fantasizing about actually meeting them one day... only for them to be ass holes when it finally happened. But she definitely called them out on it 😂

THE WORLD BUILDING AND INTRO in general were kind of confusing. Since it was confusing, I honestly didn't really care about the world or the plot too much - I was definitely reading this for the tension, humor and the characters instead

🆗 THE ROMANCE ITSELF was just okay. It felt like an awkward combination of too slow but sometimes it would become too fast, only to go back to being slow again. Idk. Things didn't get too steamy in this book, which I liked because I think RH is better when it's slow burn

Overall, I enjoyed this and recommend it if you're interested in a funny RH series. It's also pretty short so can be finished really quickly! I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series

Re-read 9th - 10th August 2018

I decided to do a re-read before starting the third book. I loved it just as much the second time round.

Original review.

The first few times I noticed this book I happily skipped past it since neither the title nor the cover appealed to me. But then the reviews started coming in and they were really good so I looked again and put it on my to-read list.
Then friends started talking about this book saying they’d loved it, it was funny, dark and delicious. They have a darker taste in books than me so I didn’t take too much notice at first, but after a while I got curious...
And here I am loving every minute of it.

“The point is, we can’t enjoy a woman, unless we enjoy her together. It’s part of the bond. None of us have ever had a woman on our own.”
So if you were a boy band, you’d be One Erection,”
🤣

I’d honestly no idea what to expect, even after reading the reviews I wasn’t sure but this book is a delight, it’s funny, addictive, different and I’m hooked.

Keyla (name given to her by Ezekiel) has no idea what she is or who she is, she has no knowledge of anything before she found herself watching these four guys and she’s watched them repeatedly for over five years.

I’m neither here nor there. Alive nor dead.
I don’t even quite know who I am. I know what century I’m in, and who the American president is. I assume that means I’m American, especially given the fact English is the only language I know.
But me? I have no clue who I am. I know all that other seemingly less important information, but not where I live, or what I do, or even my name.
And I have no clue who these four are, other than the fact they’re not entirely human, though they look like the finest specimens in the world.

She needs contact with these four and the more contact she has the stronger she gets.

The four in question are
1 - Gage
2 - Ezekiel
3 - Kai
4 - Jude

These four guys are hot as hell (and even more annoying) which is appropriate since they work for hell keeping damned souls from escaping. They are as much a mystery as Keyla and I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying this series.
I’ve just checked and I’ve previously read 3 books by this author (C.M.Owens) and all were 5* (not a rating I give often or easily) so now I’m asking myself why on earth haven’t I read more?
This book isn’t perfect but I’m giving 5* for sheer enjoyment factor, it was a delight to read and I’m moving straight onto the next one now.

“𝘚𝘰 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘌𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.”

Going into this book without reading the synopsis, I was 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒅!

After the 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘧*𝘤𝘬 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴, I've been wanting to read something else by this author for a long time and finally got around to it.
While the writing style feels the same, the book couldn't be more different.
I also completely misjudged it, expecting a lot more smut and a lot less plot. But it was a very nice and enjoyable ride. 🖤

❥𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬:
This book is about 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒈𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 4 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝒎𝒆𝒏.
For the last five years she has been watching them, because she would fade away when she’s separated from them for too long.
She has no memories, no name and no idea what she really is.
All she knows is these 4 men, who she wants to protect and, this being a reverse harem, have sex with.
However, they don’t even know she’s there.
Her goal? Become a real girl and be with these men for real. 💕

The FMC is very likable and funny. She’s also a strong, protective person who speaks her own mind and stands up for herself. The 4 men are enjoyable, but to me still a little flat. I care the least about ‘Kai/ number 3’, but I think in time he‘ll become the favorite. 😌

Also there was this trail/games situation to become protectors of hell? And Lucifer is there?🤷🏼‍♀️
Like I said, there’s a lot of plot for a short book!
I do feel like this book needed a little more smut. I love a slow burn, especially with a reverse harem.. but we need the pay off as well! That didn’t really happen. I expect more in the next books though.

In the end, this is super enjoyable and I’m very excited to find out where this story is going.

Just as good the second time around.

I want to comment about the best thing in this series. The heroine.

Keyla (which isn't her real name but it's what she calls herself for now) is so unapologetic and I love it. She has lived her entire remembered existence (which is 5 years) in phantom form, unable to be seen, heard or felt by anyone except herself. She doesn't age, sleep or feel pain but she can fade into nothingness if she stays away from the four heroes for longer than 10 minutes.

Now because she never actually interacted with anyone except herself she never learned of a lil thing called public opinion. Therefore she gives no fucks what people think.

After years of no one being able to see you, hear you, smell you, feel you, or even sense you? You stop giving a damn about what other people might think of you, and you face the truth of who you really are and what your moral compass truly is.
Because your opinion becomes the only one that exists. No one else even knows you exist.
Turns out, I’m a shameless hussy.

Because she basically lives with the heroes she did grow attached to them. The girl watches them do EVERYTHING including the orgys. They only have orgys because they can't physically have sex separately.
description
Yah I know...

“The point is, we can’t enjoy a woman, unless we enjoy her together. It’s part of the bond. None of us have ever had a woman on our own.”
“So if you were a boy band, you’d be One Erection,” I state, rambling because they have me nervous.

Turns out the only person they can fuck separately is none other than Keyla. And you bet your ass I am all here for that.

I've been on the edge of my seat waiting first for the boys to finally see her, then to actually touch her and when they did?
description
They kinda jumped her. I promise it's not as rapey as it sounds. Keyla has made it very abundantly clear on their first meeting that she wants to have sex with all of them (told you she's an unapologetic queen). However the boys have been kinda treating her like shit

They just left me here.
I told them I’d fade if I went longer than ten minutes without them in my sight, and they left me here.
I let them know I hated the fade. That it was nothingness.
And, still, they left me here.

But she called them tf out. EVERY. DAMN. TIME.

And you know what? When they tried to get a taste after being assholes she told them all to fuck off. No touching until they treat her like the queen she is.
description

Now besides all that we also have a bunch of shit to do with hell (or its throat Idfk), the actual devil and his spawn and just some sketchy trials. The stuff I'm kinda too lazy to get into so here's my three word summary....so. fucking. fun.

It's entertaining, it's funny, it's hot.

i will say what we are all thinking: too much plot, not enough sexy action

do i care about some weird hell games and the intricate infighting in hell? no.
the only thing interesting about hell is whether or not Lucifer is as sexy as i think he is (not enough descriptions on that part - do better)

do i want to find out whether jude's piercing (oh you know what kind he has) can truly provide for a good time? desperately. i'd pay money. i actually have, that kindle unlimited subscription isn't cheap.

but did i even get to see one of them naked? no. not even kai, who i care about the least.

two hundred and ten pages and all i got was plot. disgusting.

but what do i expect from four guys whose band name would be One Erection *cough* *cough*
at least you know they are true bros because they masturbate together. that's real friendship right there.

the heroine was great though, i have to give it to her. now if she just managed to convince the boys™ to give it to her in the next book - that'd be great.

thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Brilliant.
Wow. What a treat!

This book was super fun, sexy and entertaining. The female character is hilarious and adorable, and having four male protagonist instead of one was way more fun that I would have expected. I loved Keyla's wardrobe changes, it made me smile every single time (you have no idea how I wish I could do that too =^_^= )

Some aspects of the book remind me a little to The Inmortal after Dark Series from Kresley Cole, except this book has more humor and made me laugh more, well and it also has the reverse harem thing too of course.

I honestly didn't expect to enjoy this book so much. I am so surprised. What made me buy and read this book was:
First, I saw a few very good ratings from my Goodreads friends.
Second, I loved the title.
Third, I found the blurb funny and interesting.
Fourth, its price on amazon was 0,99€.
For this reasons, I didn't hesitate and started reading it immediately. Right now, I am very happy about that.

The story is kind of addictive, I just can't wait to read the other 3 books in this series!

*** UPDATE (on July 28th, 2020) ***

So I'm not sure what's going on, but when I was looking for the name of the audiobook narrator for Four Psychos (for one of my challenges), I was surprised to discover that the series of ebooks was actually back up on Amazon.

Caught off guard, I then typed in C.M. Owens and S.T. Abby to see if the books under those pseudonyms/pen names had also returned.

Looks like most of the author's books are back up on Amazon.

Not sure when this happened, if it's temporary or what has brought about this reversal. I thought I'd just take a moment to mention this in light of recent conversations (some of which took place in my comments below) about the author's unexpected announcement re: retirement and all her books being pulled from the market at that time.

This has certainly been a strange turn of events...

4 to 4 1/2 stars

Maybe they want to kill me and maybe I hate them a little, but I can't stand the thought of someone hurting them.
Which is clearly about to happen.

This author recently retired all her pseudonyms for reasons that remain private - I've got no clue as to the whys and wherefores - and has taken the majority of her ebooks off the market (although some remain available in boxsets with other authors).

"Harem is an interesting choice of word, considering you're the one getting four of us at once, while we only get you," Ezekiel points out with a devious twist of his lips.
"Yes, you'll be my harem. Deal with it."

I purchased a number of her ebooks prior to this happening because I really enjoyed her Mindf*ck series under the author name S.T. Abby. I had also heard good things about several works she'd written as C.M. Owens.

I'm going to smother them in their sleep tonight.

Long story short, I was still able to access this audiobook on Scribd.com and decided to give it a whirl while it's available (because who knows if it will eventually disappear too... although the audiobooks for this series are currently for sale on Audible).

With that cover and title, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this read as I haven't read many RH tales.

[He's] excited about them? That's... terrifying. Just what sort of guys did I go and get myself tethered to?
I know they're lethal, unapologetic, certainly psychotic, and inherently dangerous, but I didn't know they'd get the devil giddy.

Turns out, it was a fun, quirky story that often made me laugh, so I definitely plan to read the rest of the series. I want to find out what's in store for Leyla and #'s 1,2,3,4 (those are her nicknames for Gage, Ezekiel, Kai, and Jude - her four badass psychos ).

Should be interesting...

“Oh! Oh yes.”

This is one of those books that I started completely blind about their story. I didn’t know this writer. I didn’t know if the book was paranormal or historical or whatever. I just liked the title (some of my favorite book boyfriends are psychos), the book cover (hmm hoods and hidden faces… intriguing) and I have heard that the book has the “reverse harem” trope (I quite enjoy it when the girl is the dominant part in this kind of relationship).

Anyway, I started the book and there are these four guys having sex with one girl and there is another girl who is watching (so far it is kind of okay).
And then I realized that the girl is some kind of a ghost who is not allowed to have fun or to eat pop corn while watching (she in fact craves eating pop corn more than having sex).
And these guys are something like her pets, her enjoyment, her point of existence. And they don’t even know it. Nobody knows that she exists.

So the thing has started becoming interesting.

And then I realized that these guys are not exactly humans. Are they demons? Are they fallen angels? Because definitely they are not nice guys!

And then weird trials, assassins and Hell and the devil himself are thrown in the mix; while the four guys discover that there is a naughty ghost that has been watching them for years and they are the only ones who can see her.
Apparently they would like to grab her and show her a few tricks, but she is not exactly real.

Yes, I believe after that it is obvious that the book is paranormal.

So this first book is like a game. It is the book in the series that throws the questions:
Who is the nameless ghost? Or Keyla as she was named by Ezekiel.
Who are One, Two, Three and Four? Or Gage, Ezekiel, Kai and Jude.
Why these five creatures are connected?
When will the four guys grab the girl?

The book is pure fun. Keyla is one funny girl who drives the four guys mad and she talks without thinking. It is pure joy to read about her and try to understand what is going on through her eyes.

The four guys are typical male bastards who never say thank you – no matter how many times Keyla saves them. But you can definitely see the sparks and the chemistry there.

Let me think… what else? Oh, yes I have also read that the author is in fact C.M. Owens who mostly writes books about bikers and motorcycle clubs. I haven’t read anything yet from her “normal” stuff, but I promise that I will try to change that :)

Casper & Supernatural having a baby and it being born a horny teenager = Four Psychos

Ok. So I have a weird relationship with this book. It’s PNR reverse harem. Four moody broody asshole guys, who are bound to each other. They are supernaturals of some sort, and they are bad-ish. Then the heroine is a girl, and she’s something 😂? Yeah I sound crazy, but she’s something and we don’t know exactly what she is. If Supernatural and Casper had a baby... and sprinkled in some sexy romance, it would be this book. Whatever. It may sound confusing AF, but I actually loved it.

It has some very sarcastic comedy. The banter is good. I liked the dynamic between the bonded guys and the heroine. I don’t want to ruin it, but I will say... TENSION. TENSE. This book is just like... on the cusp.

The only reason I took a star away is because even though the world building was great and descriptive, the story itself did feel very drawn out at points. It did feel a little bit like “come on... just get busy,” but I always feel like that with supernatural books.

All in all a great read. I need book two right now though. Like ASAP, thanks 😂

Wow, what did I just read and where is the next book!

Four Psychos by Kristy Cunning is one imaginative book! A gal that is not a ghost but has no memory and no substance. Four guys that are somehow bonded in several ways that reap souls but are not reapers. There is dealing with demons and the devil himself. The girl seems to get more power the longer she is with the guys....This book is so wild, especially when she acts as their protector. Someone is trying to kill them!

4 Not what I expected Stars

I saw Four Psychos popping up on my Amazon and I was really curious about all of the high ratings. The cover is kind of ominous looking and I thought to myself could this book be really that good?

Despite the crazy cover, yes I did enjoy this book. It wasn’t what I expected. I’m glad I wasn’t in a smutty mood (okay I was) but this book isn’t smutty. There’s steam I give you that, but it’s more tension filled steam and I really enjoy that kind.

There’s 4 guys and one girl, but it’s not a dirty book (at least this one isn’t). I really like the writing style of Four Psychos, it’s very laid back and causal and it’s my prefer reading style.

This is a paranormal book and it has a little bit of everything. I will admit even though the writing style is laid back there’s a lot of world building in this one and it was a little hard to follow. There’s a lot of verbiage and world building talk. I kind of glossed over some parts because frankly I just didn’t understand it.

What I did like is the relationship between the Heroine and the four guys. It seems that the guys are bonded together and you will slowly realize how and why.

Overall, it’s a good lose-yourself read. I read it in one sitting, it was short and quick and fast.

I’m not sure why the author decided to use a pen name, maybe it worked and that is why the book is successful. I will be looking at her other works.

Oh and if you didn’t know, I had to ask what, Reverse Harem was. It’s where the lady is dominating at least more than 3 males. Don’t worry, it’s not like BDSM or anything. Just wanted to let you know.

Here are some spoiler stuff

Does it end in a cliffy?
Does it have a HEA?

I really did wish

a massive massive hit with me this one, I have previously read another series by this author under a different name and it blew me away I even got my hubby to read it also I was that impressed.
So Knew it was only a matter of time before I gave another of her series ago and the title of this one really caught my attention.
I have a soft spot for psycho's and this one gave me four and a ghost girl as an added extra.
So this is slow-burn reverse harem paranormal and despite the slow-burn nature of this, the chemistry here was bloody explosive.
It was such an unusual read that captured my attention almost instantly.
Basically our girl is stuck in limbo with no memories of her past and invisible to all.
She seems to be anchored to Jude, Gage, Kai and Ezekiel and sees herself as somewhat of there protector even if they have no idea of her existence.
She nicknames them one, two three and four.
She also watches them with the woman they share and develops longings of her own.
When she finds herself suddenly visible to her boys the fun and games begin.
Though she feels connected to them the reverse is not true the boys distrust Keyla (who they name) intentions from day one, some more so than others.
So this was hilariously funny with some terrific dry one-liners.
It was a fantastic non-stop sexy and mysterious page-turner.
We have hell, the devil himself and purgatory and some totally insane trials.
I was riveted throughout this it really was a super start to the whole series and I will definitely be continuing on here no question.

Well this was DELICIOUSLY WRITTEN. I felt as though this was written just for me. We have this badass ghost that won’t let the four alpha male walk all over her. We see emotions in her that tug my heart strings when they’re being little pricks. A favorite? Yes.
