This story is a bit all over the map and has some definite issues with cohesion. Luckily, I really liked the hero and his part kept me turning the pages. I learn to love the heroine, but it takes about half of the book before that kicks in. While I understand Dakota’s aversion to marriage, the way she goes about trying to convince her sister not to get married doesn’t make sense. She doesn’t get to know her future brother-in-law at all and gives no actual reason why they shouldn’t get married.
Beckett is wonderful, and so is his dog. The way Tucker and Dakota seem to understand and need each other is a touching part of this story. Beckett somewhat forcing them together because he sees they can help each other is one of the reasons I like him. He’s also so darn patient. There is a bit at the beginning of this story that I feel Dakota and Beckett have great chemistry, but Beckett’s endurance when it came to her hot and cold attitude extended well past my threshold for her nonsense.
One of the best things about this story is the older couple Dakota and Beckett befriend. It’s in no way how things would happen in the real world, but this is fiction so I’m okay with that. That part of the story is sweet.
Yes, I enjoyed Becket and the sweet old couple, and even learned to like Dakota. But there were too many other issues with this story. Some I cannot discuss without giving spoilers so I won’t. I can tell you that there is a point in this book that Dakota actually thinks about how great she feels after telling Beckett about an issue she had with her dad, Frank, a while back. The problem is, she never told him. There didn’t even seem to be an implication that she told him. She did open up about some other things, but whatever happened between Dakota and Frank is as much as a mystery to me now as it was when I started reading the book. I got the gist of it, but never the details. Like I said earlier, lack of cohesion.
Not only do I have a lot to read so have no time for books that don’t captivate me, I also don’t enjoy reading an author over and over and not giving a great review. I feel like I’m piling on. I always give new-to-me authors a second or third chance, but if there’s not a 4 star or higher story in there for my taste I have to move on. While this story was by no means bad, it wasn’t very good either. I liked the first story in this series, but it also had its issues. It is probably time for me to move on from this author.

The kid knew her own mind and wouldn’t hesitate to tell big sister it was presumptuous to believe she’d suddenly lost it because she was marrying a near stranger.
What other option did Dakota have? Stand by and do nothing? She couldn’t do it.
The drive north from San Francisco under clear skies, windows down to let in the salt-scented air as the road periodically took Dakota close to the ocean, was calming. What did they call it in those self-help books? A Zen experience.

Dakota spun around, coming face-to-face with a tall, better-than-average-looking man, who was trying very hard to smother his laughter.
If she weren’t so embarrassed at her gaffe, she might laugh too. But another mistake in a long line of mistakes just wasn’t funny.

I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Angel Point series and I found it helpful to have read the first book. Wanted By The Marshal focuses on Dakota James, sister of Taylor, the sheriff of Angel Point. Dakota is a US Marshall, formerly a marine who was asked to take a 2 week leave after she suffered a meltdown at work. She comes to Angel Point to try and talk Taylor into cancelling her wedding. When she first arrives she meets Beckett Leland, a former marine pilot who elected not to re-enlist. He came to Angel Point to pay his respects to his cousin’s widow.
Dakota doesn’t want to let the others know she was asked to take a break from her job. She is struggling with her feelings about this request as well as her beliefs about love not being real. She dreads seeing her father who she blames for her mother leaving. Her mother left her family when Dakota and Taylor were little girls. Dakota has had trouble believing that love exists due to her family history. Beckett is from a happy family background with 2 parents that continue to love each other. The two of them discuss about happy couples versus unhappy ones, both real and pretend. Beckett realizes he likes her and tries to come up with ideas to spend time with Dakota. Frank, Dakota’s father has retired from the US Marshalls and is living in Angel Point after becoming engaged to Camille who runs the Chowder House. Dakota had overheard on the night her mother left, that Frank wasn’t her father. It had caused her much bitterness and sadness over the years. She never shared twist she had heard. She tries to avoid seeing Frank.
Dakota realizes there’s is something between her and Beckett but doesn’t believe it would last. He had asked her to take care of his service dog to help it acclimate to living with a civilian. She becomes very fond of his dog Tucker. The two spend time together.
When she was first driving into town she saw an elderly gentleman on the side of the road with a flat tire that she helped him change. He gifted her with some of his wife's cookies to thank her. Later she and Beckett see him with another flat and they stop to help. He invites them back to his home to meet his wife and have some cookies. The interactions with the older couple are so sweet.
The book has some twists and surprises. There is a lot of growth for the characters, especially Dakota. She realizes what can be hers if she’s willing to try. I enjoyed the series and look forward to reading other books by Susan Lute.

‘Wanted by the Marshal‘ is the second title in the ‘Angel Point‘ series, and although I try to read any series in order, if you cannot then this one could stand on its own – but I’m betting you’d want to go back to the beginning for this is an addictive, sweet, unique small town full of interesting and quirky residents.
Beckett came to Angel Point intending on only checking up on family but the quiet charm of this town soon soothed his own soul and he’s decided to stay and open up a center for retired military dogs to find their forever homes. He wasn’t looking for love but he definitely knew when Dakota came into his life that she was the one for him. Now he just has to convince her to believe in love, the everlasting kind, and to stay with him to find their own future.
Dakota sweeps into Angel Point convinced her sister is making the worst mistake of her life and intends to rescue her from herself. That’s not the case at all and soon Dakota will find herself introduced to every single male in town since her sister is convinced that Dakota needs to find what she has – happily ever after, and that Dakota has absolutely no faith in but for her sister she’ll play along. Right up until one former Marine catches her off-guard and begins to show her that not every couple has to end up hurting each other – some make it for a lifetime of devoted love.
I liked both Dakota and Beckett together and individually. Oh, Dakota is stubborn, strong-willed, and determined to believe that love is a farce for fools but I like her and watching her discover that what she’s always believed might not be true for everyone, including herself, was a delightful journey. Add dogs, especially military/police dogs who are retired, need retraining to the civilian life and then find their forever home also added another level of enjoyment to ‘Wanted by the Marshal‘ for me.
If you’re in the mood or the need for a really good romance with believable characters then you’ll want to get caught up in the ‘Angel Point‘ series and Beckett and Dakota’s story… right now.

I really enjoyed Dakota and Beckett’s sweet love story in Wanted by the Marshall by Susan Lute, book two in her Angel Point series. U.S. Marshall Dakota James is heading to Angel Point to make sure her sister isn’t making a mistake getting married, like their parents did. Not only was her sister, Taylor, not listening to Dakota but she intended to introduce every single man in Angel Point to her. Only one man, a former marine, set her blood a-boiling. Beckett Leland came to Angel Point to check on his cousin’s widow and two young boys and found a place where he and his retired military dog, Tucker could easily make the transition to civilian life. Running into a fiery, passionate woman who doesn’t believe in love and happy ending was not part of his plans. He needs more than friendship from the marshal, who has captured his heart. Before he can convince Dakota that true love and happiness awaits her she needs to comes to terms with her relationship with her parents and their divorce.
Ms. Lute wrote a wonderful, sweet and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with chemistry, amusing conversations, and charming secondary characters giving Dakota and Leland a chance for a future together. I highly recommend Wanted by the Marshall to other readers.

I loved book one in the series, and this one was just as good. That said, for those that have not read book 1 , rest assured that this is a stand alone.
Our main characters are Marshal Dakota James and Beckett Leland.
Beckett is a former Marine pilot who originally went to Angel Point to check up on his deceased cousin’s family, and became so enchanted by the town and it’s inhabitants, that he is now ready to settle down in town with his retired military dog and start a rescue center for retired military dogs.
Dakota is a stubborn, fiesty woman whose childhood hurts has defined her as an adult, and whose life (professional and personal) is currently out of control.
While she doesn’t believe in love, Beckett is not a one night stand guy, but rather one who believes in love , one that lasts forever.
The story was engaging from the start with characters perfect in their imperfections. A story that reminds the reader that those experiences we have as a child, will deeply affect the individual as an adult.
I can’t wait to see what else this author has for us in her next book.

Wanted by the Marshal is the second in one of the most refreshing new series Angel Point that I have read in a while. By Susan Lute this well-written series changes up the roles that characters usually have in romance novels still today. Dakota James is a US Marshal whose sister is the town sheriff, Taylor James. Taylor was the focus in book one, now she is getting married. I loved that story and Dakota’s is just as good.
Strong, intelligent, commitment phobia characters are often the leading male character but Dakota has all that in spades. Growing up did not give her cause to believe in happily-ever-afters in marriages so former military pilot Beckett Leland has his work cut out if he hopes to change her mind. Luckily, he also has a sidekick retired military dog, Tucker. As I read, I swore I could hear Alabama singing “Love in the First Degree” in the background. Looking forward to more by this writer.

This author is new to me and I am not disappointed at all. I love small town romances and this book was spot on. Yes the book was predictable, but hang in there it was totally worth it. I loved everything about this book. I loved how Dakota was strong, independent and stubborn, but she met her match with both Beckett and her sister Taylor. Taylor killed me I did not read her story but she's a pistol and has no problem telling people how its going to be. I really liked Claud and Betty oh my what a sweet couple. If you are looking a good clean read with a story that will get to your heart this is the story for you. I so enjoyed this fun read and can't wait for more from the town of Angel Point. This is the second book in this series but can be read as a total stand alone but they are such great books why wouldn't you read both This is a story about a woman who after seeing the disaster that was her parents marriage doesn't believe in love or HEA but is a marine about to make her change her mind

Susan Lute’s second book, Wanted by the Marsha,, in the Angel Point Romance series runs the gamut of feelings: anger, misgivings, elations, delight, and most of all love...in all it’s myriad of forms. With all the characters from the first book making a repeat appearance, Beckett and Dakota’s HEA story nearly turned the pages itself.
Especially with the story centering around Veterans, human and animal like, the tone of the story was somber at times, but also buoyant in its view of recovery and the promise of a future of renewal. I’m looking forward to more stories set in Oregon’s small coastal town of Angel Point.

I really love small town books. This book is set in the small town of Angel Point. This is the second book in the series but it for sure can be read as a stand alone. Wanted by a Marshal is about Dakota James and Beckett. For me the chemistry between these two was hot. I thought the author did a wonderful job of telling their story. From the moment I started reading it I was hooked. The characters are well developed and very interesting. When you throw dogs into the story it becomes that much more adorable. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this small town. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dakota has arrived in Angel Point for her sister's bridal shower, and hopefully to talk her out of her marriage. Dakota does not believe in HEA. This is suppose to be a quick visit but soon changes once the residents of Angel Point tug at her heart strings. Beckett, an ex marine is new town and wants to win over Dakota, he wants more than a friendship.
This was a sweet read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Loved the older couple that really showed what true love is. This is the second book in the series, which I recommend reading first.

Things take a turn when her sister won't see reason and asks her to trust her she knows what she is doing. Enter Beckett. He is retired military living the peaceful life in Angel Point. Dakota is unexpected.... strong, sexy and ex-military turned Marshal. Can he convince her to take a chance on him when she doesn't believe in happily ever after? Maybe true love can change how Dakota feels about forever. Good read!

An enjoyable read that drew me in from the first page. I enjoyed the way Dakota was brought into the series and thrown right into the happenings with the Angel Point characters from the first book. Dakota fits right in with the town and its residents. As she deals with her inner turmoil and falling in love for the first time, the reader will experience all the feels a good romance will give you. I look forward to reading more Angel Point stories.

This is the second book in the Angel Point series while each one can be read as stand alone books I would recommend the first book as Dakota talks a lot about her sister and Gabe and it would help to know the complete back story. Dakota and Bennett's story starts off slow but once it gets to going it is one that I got into. I could totally understand why Dakota had issues in her life with her "dad". I look forward to more books based in this quaint little town of Angel Point.

I honestly didn't want this one to end,Loved the chemistry between these two ,might of been a little misunderstanding at 1st when they met up at the restaurant and he started flirting with her instead of his finance.I love this book cover.I can't wait for book 3 in the next Angel Point series series.

Book 2 was just as good
I loved the first story with Taylor and Gabe. Dakota and Beckett's was just as good. I foresee another book or two in the future; will be lined up to buy them too.

Just loved this book about 2 veterans who are broken and trying to get their lives together fall in love. Loved the family thread throughout the story as well.

You won't put it down.
Susan Lute is an ace at writing a true romance. They're called clean romance I guess. She gets you involved in the feelings not the sex.
