She moved to the outback to heal her heart, never expecting to fall in love.
Midwife Maeve McGill can deliver a baby with no complications, but finding love isn’t that easy. After falling for and being dumped by a doctor who only wanted her as a glorified nanny for his kids, she left her job for a position at a clinic in Wirralong. Maeve is determined to embrace her new life with the help of her friend, Lacey. Men are absolutely off the menu.
Doctor Jace Bronson is everything Maeve’s last boyfriend wasn’t. He’s big—a big chest to lean on with a big heart and a crazy big smile she can’t resist. But Jace is a father and his job is temporary, so he and Maeve vow to keep their relationship strictly professional. Maeve doesn’t want to risk the heartbreak, and Jace wants to protect his daughter from falling under Maeve’s warm and caring spell—the way he has.
They had good intentions, but love, chemistry and the magic of Wirralong have a way of bringing two wounded souls together.
Fiona McArthur has worked as a midwife for thirty years. She is the clinical midwifery educator inner rural maternity unit and teaches emergency obstetric strategies while working with midwives and doctors from remote and isolated areas.
Fiona has written more than thirty romances, which have sold over two million copies in twelve languages. She has been a midwifery expert for Mother and Baby magazine and is the author of Aussie Midwives. She has also written the novels Red Sand Sunrise, The Homestead Girls and Heart of the Sky. She lives on a farm in northern New South Wales.
Maeve’s Baby is part of the Brides of Wirralong series. It reads as a stand alone story.
Maeve and Jace are thrown together in a work situation whilst Jace is working as a fill-in doctor at his friend Ben’s practice while Ben is on paternity leave. Maeve is taking over from clinic nurse and midwife, Lacey, who is due to have her second baby.
Both Maeve and Jace have broken hearts and have built up walls, determined not to enter a new relationship. But there is instant attraction and sizzling chemistry that they are finding hard to fight.
Romance is the genre I turn to when I need to be taken away from everyday problems. I like being assured of a HEA ending. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading Maeve and Jace’s story. I loved the humour and innocent flirting as Maeve and Jace go about their day to day appointments at the clinic.
Fiona McArthur includes themes of natural childbirth versus medically assisted, and the importance of midwives. There are two very different births included in the story.
There are lots of children in this family orientated story and I loved that they were present throughout, not pushed to the background. Kids are noisy, messy, need to be fed and emergency babysitters need to be called. Fiona McArthur hasn’t skirted around any of these normal family problems.
Maeve’s Baby is the perfect feel good romance. Happy endings guaranteed!
Enticed by her good friend Lacey, Maeve McGill left Perth for Wirralong in NSW. With the position of midwife being available in the small clinic, and the farm she’d already put a deposit on, Maeve was ready for a new life with new friends. The first day of her new job saw her meet the new doctor who was filling in for a few months while the regular doctor took leave while his wife had their baby. Dr Jace Bronson was a kind and caring professional and his three-year-old daughter Jemima was a delight.
Jace and Maeve became friends but Jace had a tragedy in his past; one he had trouble letting go of. And Maeve – well she was determined her past would remain in the past. She didn’t want to fall for Jace, and he didn’t want to fall for Maeve. As time moved forward, patients were attended, pregnant mothers checked, babies born – life was good in Wirralong. But would it remain that way?
Maeve’s Baby is the 2nd in the Outback Brides Return to Wirralong series by Aussie author Fiona McArthur and it was a quick read which I found light, entertaining and very enjoyable. I’ve read a lot of Ms McArthur’s work and she never puts a foot wrong. Each of these stories can be read as standalones – this is my first in this part of the series. Highly recommended.
With thanks to the author and Tule Publishing for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review A heartwarming story with a handsome widower still hurting from grief but unknowingly ready to fall in love again , “Maeve’s Baby”, by Fiona McArthur (Tule Publishing), takes place in a vivid, well developed and researched clinical setting in the Australian outback and has a group of likeable characters. Featuring a sexy, kind doctor, Jace, and a midwife, Maeve, the story of finding love after experiencing loss and heartbreak has a mix of seduction, chemistry, fears and doubts that makes the protagonists and the attraction believable. There’s a strong presence of friends/couples and children in this book and the relationships and affections feel sweet and engaging. I also liked the accurate portrayal of midwifery (often versus doctor care), although all these factors steal attention from the romantic couple.
This was a cosy story which started off really promisingly, and then just faded. There was far too much emphasis on the midwifery stuff and quite frankly, I got bored with it. They were nice characters but they got lost.
I wanted much more on the developing relationship. 😉
We went from the recognition of attraction to a sudden decision to marry with only a kiss to suggest they had really fallen in love. Sorry, I expected much more. I could not get over the speed of the denouement which just seemed to happen.
Neither of the main characters were virgins so I didn’t understand how Maeve’s thoughts about a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship never even materialised before we got to the proposal. Sorry, this just left me feeling let down.
Fewer medical details and more focus on the love as it developed would have been better as far as I am concerned.
A sweet little story, but very slow, with very little actual romance. And I got real sick real fast of the bias Jace had against Maeve's profession and how he questioned her ethics and ability at every turn.
This is a lovely addition to this series set in the Australian outback community of Wirralong. This time it involves two newcomers to the area - Maeve McGill, a midwife who is coming to work in the clinic after being recommended to do so by her friend who lives in Wirralong and is due to give birth soon. She's recovering from being dumped by her fiancé of two years who was apparently using her as a nanny for his children until he could get back together with his ex-wife. She's determined to give men the miss in her new job but maybe the new doctor will change her mind?
The new doctor is Jace Bronson, another single father who is only due to stay for six months to cover for his friend's paternity leave. He lost his wife and their unborn son in childbirth and isn't ready for romance - until he sees the pixie like Maeve! Can he resist temptation? Would Maeve even give him a chance? Can he protect his delightful three year old daughter from falling for the charming Maeve, too? Both are trying to resist but will romance help heal their past and keep them together in future?
What a tragic past these two had but their romance is fraught with assumptions, misunderstandings and magnetic attraction as well as fears for the future. It is a story involving new lives, medical emergencies, a fantastic community and friendship as well as lots and lots of love. This is a heartwarming story, a relaxing read that is delightful to escape into and packed with love. There are great characters, both old and young, including several children and two new births. Those sunsets sound fabulous out on Maeve's farm! I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading more books in this series and other books by this author in future.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
An absolutely captivating and wonderful story of love overtaking doubts, insecurities, and will power. Simply lovely and engaging. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I voluntarily read a advanced reader’s copy of this book for honest opinion
A great addition to the Outback Brides Return to Wirralong series. Maeve's Baby by Fiona McArthur. A sweet, heart warming story of new places, new life, friends, meeting new people and possible romance. I enjoyed the character development between Midwife Maeve and Doctor Jace it was perfect for the small town storyline. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

They had good intentions, but love, chemistry and the magic of Wirralong have a way of bringing two wounded souls together. This Maeve McGill and Doctor Jace Bronson's story. And this new midwife is a friend of hers from Perth. Holly interviewed her via video conference and we met her in person last week. We’re very impressed. Lacey and her friend are both women’s health nurses, and I know Lacey’s incredible with the mums and bubs in town. Between her and Holly we have nearly every family in town on our books.’ Maeve McGill woke to the sound of birdsong and the munch of … maybe a goat? … eating grass outside her window? She hoped it was grass and not the one flowering bush she was sweating on to flower. Lacey had exaggerated the flowers. Though, it could be a brush-tailed rock-wallaby. Nobody could stop the wallabies from going through the fence or bouncing over it. She’d thought she’d shut the gate into the paddock yesterday afternoon, hence the goat query, but she was still learning to be a farmer. She dragged her head from the most comfortable pillow in the world and peered blearily through the curtain-free window. Who needed curtains when you had no neighbours? No two-legged ones anyway. Jace squeezed his daughter tight against him briefly and the little girl slipped both arms around her daddy’s neck. ‘Not a hope.’ Jace looked away. ‘It’s been two years and we’re getting good at juggling, aren’t we, Jem?’ ‘I take my hat off to all single parents. You’re doing a great job.’ Jace could see Ben meant that. His friend understood how badly Jace wanted Jemima to grow up happy, despite not having a mother. I highly recommend reading. Outback Brides Return to Wirralong Book 1 Matilda Next Door by Kelly Hunter
What a sweet story this has been. It’s second in the Outback Brides Return To Wirralong series and while you don’t need to have ready any of the other books, they’re all lovely and if you’ve read them you’ll feel right at home with all the familiar faces. This book has a real sense of family about it, both in terms of the various couples that pepper its pages and in terms of the way all these friends care for each other. In our present uncertain circumstances that is certainly welcoming. I loved the way Maeve’s Baby highlighted the values of family and friendship in this gentle romance set in the Australian bush. Maeve McGill, midwife f has moved to Wirralong from Perth, bought a house and 100 acres and is looking forward to starting a new live as a successful single, while she recovers from the emotional damage of being used, cheated on and then dumped by her former fiancé. I was impressed with Maeve from the start. At work she is professional and exceptionally competent, handling both her pregnant patients and her general nursing patients with equal care and a friendly bedside manner. Her quiet competence carries into her private life, where we see her calmly coping with her friend Holly’s two sets of twins. You could tell she was hurting at times as she remembered aspects her past relationship but throughout the story she was unbelievably strong and I couldn’t help but cheer for her. Jace Bronson is a Sydney paediatrician who’s come to Wirralong for six months to fill in at the local GP practice while his friend Ben is on paternity leave. Grieving the deaths of his wife and unborn baby, Jace is clearly hoping the distance from his family home will help him to recover. Like Maeve, he’s competent, though the nature of his wife’s death impacts on his reactions to some circumstances, threatening the potential of a relationship with Maeve. Apart from this, Jace is a dream of a hero—tall, strong, competent, caring and a magnificent father to his three yearly daughter Jemima. How could I not fall a little in love. This story is a gentle one. You couldn’t help but see the zing of attraction between Jace and Maeve but their story unfolded quietly. Along the way both learned to trust each other. If I had any complaints it would be that there were a few medical terms that I wasn’t familiar with. Author Fiona McArthur is a midwife and her knowledge of that sphere of medicine is very obvious through all her books. It enhances her stories and gives readers a clear idea of process and procedure but just occasionally I felt as though she’d forgotten her audience and used terms that were a tad too technical for me. This was not a common occurrence though it did mean I had to step away from the story to find out what a word meant. Apart from that I really did enjoy this story, which is a lovely addition to the series.
‘Maeve’s Baby‘ is the second title in the ‘Outback Brides Return to Wirralong‘ multi-author series, and delivers a romance that is big on heart, emotion, and complications.
Maeve has just accepted the midwife position at the clinic in Wirralong. She’s ready for a new start and more than happy to leave the past right where it belongs… back there in the past. Learning that the man you’d planned to marry, who you’d given years of love and devotion to was pretty much using you as a nanny for his child… no, not going to fall into that ever again. So men are pretty much off the menu for the moment. Maeve has enough on her plate getting settled and enjoying her new home, job, and friends. Yet, that doesn’t mean that she’s blind to a handsome doctor with an adorable little girl. But that’s a risk she’s not prepared to take again, or so she believes.
Jace is in Wirralong temporarily as he subs for another doctor who is waiting for his own little one to arrive. This job is not a forever place so Jace is quite content to enjoy the community, the scenery, and having his little girl nearby. Jace lost his wife and stillborn son recently, and he’s not looking to ever step back into that situation again. Loving someone is amazing – losing them is painful beyond belief, and he’s not interested. Except for Maeve, the new midwife is tempting his resolve to remain alone. They have a great working relationship, the chemistry between them is obvious, but he’d have to risk his heart again, and he’s not sure he can.
I enjoyed ‘Maeve’s Baby‘. It’s a delightful romance with believable people, a small town full of quirky characters and good friends, and while there are a few misunderstandings that get in the way, it’s overall a romance between two people who have pain in their pasts to deal with – who have to be willing to take a risk with their hearts once again. If you love a romance that will have you in tears of laughter and understanding, then this one is perfect for you.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Foreplay. That’s what this book felt like to me. Foreplay. I lot of build up but, unfortunately, not as much of a payout I was hoping for.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy that slow build with simmering chemistry. It’s fun and can be a bit intense. The anticipation is half the fun. In this story, it actually worked quite well for the situation Maeve and Jace were in; their pasts and foreseeable futures. Once they give in to those feelings a bit, they start a sweet courtship that is super sexy while also being somehow quite innocent. The problem? The story went from anticipation and sweetness to HEA the end in the blink of an eye. While Jace and Maeve get their closure, it seemed so rushed considering how slow the build up had been. Quite frankly, I wanted more.
It’s always hard for me to review a story when there is a lot I like about the book and it brings joy. If it had just been the too of an quick ending, I would be rating this one much higher. But there are some glaring inconsistencies with the tale and that is my pet peeve. Timelines and details have got to be paid attention to by the author. There are times Maeve seems to know some information about Jace, then later she seems to be learning the same information for the first time. Times where the POV is Jace’s and abruptly switches to Maeve. The chapters are labeled with the characters, so it’s not me getting confused. And it’s not something I can overlook.
The stories in this series so far are quick and sweet reads. I just wish the writing and/or editing in this one was a bit more tight.

Maeve’s Baby, written by Fiona McArthur, is book #2 in Tule Publishing’s Outback Brides Return to Wirralong series. Anytime that the reader can return to the outback community of Wirralong… it’s a very good thing for the reader! Wirralong is small, and remotely located, but it is full of genuine, caring citizens. These supporting characters add so much richness to every Wirralong story, this one included.
This story revolves around recently hired nurse and midwife Maeve McGill, and temporary replacement doctor Jace Bronson. Maeve is healing from a two-year relationship with an egotistical mate and his small children, which ended badly when he remarried his previous wife. It was a nice clean turn of events for everyone except Maeve. She has recently purchased a ranch outside Wirralong, and is determined to heal, and live her best life. Enter Dr. Jace Bronson, and his small daughter, Jemima. There is an instant attraction between Maeve and Jace, but both are hesitant. Jace is healing too… it’s been two years since his wife and second child died in a tragic delivery that turned fatal. Maeve is a superb nurse, but Jace has emotional roadblocks concerning childbirth, and midwifes vs hospitals.
Despite two problematic deliveries by two personal friends, Maeve and Jace push their differences aside because their attraction is just too strong. Will Maeve and Jace be a temporary fling, or will a wedding be in their future? Will Jace decide to stay in Wirralong, thus giving them a chance to be a real family? Will Maeve and sweet little Jemima bond over their love of horses? I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is beautifully written, and very easy to read. I will be coming back to Wirralong soon, very soon!
I am liking this new series which seems to all feature babies. Maeve's Baby (Outback Brides Return to Wirralong #2) is not at all what the name implies. Fiona McArthur takes one thought of comment in the latter part of the story to give this book its name. Pretty creative since it encouraged me to keep reading to see where this baby came from.
The story centers on two newcomers to Wirralong. Midwife Maeve McGill has bought a small farm, planning to make her home there. Doctor Jace Bronson along with his young daughter are only there helping out for a few months. Right away you can see the problem. However, both have some baggage that came they must work through before anything other than friendship can be truly developed. The story deals with all that working though the issues while supporting characters who meet in previous books have babies.
While the story is solid I felt that the working out their differences happened very quickly near the end. I am not sure that I felt it was within how the characters had been behaving. Still the last chapter was perfect. The visits to this Australian town are such an enjoyable read. You can’t help but be happy for a small town that is being revitalized. It gives inspiration for the real small towns across the world. Maeve and Jace are just the kind of people you would want to join your small town population.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the second in this new quartet revolving around the country Australian town of Wirralong. In this instalment, midwife Maeve is coaxed to move out to Wirralong by her friend Lacey. Lacey is a main character from an earlier book series and like Maeve, she’s also a midwife. She’s about to have her second child and has encouraged Maeve to come and work in Wirralong. Local doctor Ben (also from a previous book, although not the same one) is also about to go on leave and has arranged for paediatrician Jace to fill in for him whilst he’s on leave. So Maeve and Jace start at the local clinic at the same time – and for both, there’s an instant attraction.
Both are looking to….well, almost escape, things that have happened to them recently. Jace suffered a very tragic loss and Maeve had a serious relationship fail, one that she’d invested herself in, in multiple ways and it’s left her heartbroken. And because of this, even though she’s attracted to Jace, the fact that he’s a single dad means that she can’t risk herself again. Maeve is here to stay in Wirralong and Jace’s position is only temporary. Maeve is really working to establish herself as a part of the Wirralong community – she’s bought a property, she’s getting herself a horse and learning to ride it, she’s even got some goats! She can’t afford to fall in love with someone who is only going to be around for a short amount of time….and she cannot bear to fall in love with Jace’s young daughter Jemina, only to lose her too. That would also not be fair to Jemina either.
With Jace being a doctor specialising in paediatrics and Maeve being a midwife as well as Jace’s emotional baggage it ends up being inevitable that they have a bit of disagreement over something. Jace is skeptical of Maeve’s methods. He very much errs on the side of caution, often wanting hospitalisation or C-sections for his pregnant patients, whereas Maeve is more of the going with the flow sort, letting the mother decide and also a ‘wait and see’ approach, rather than rushing off to hospital for a scheduled Caesarean at the first sign of a potential issue. Jace has a very good reason for being extra cautious and it’s quite easy to see that he’s still quite deeply scarred by what happened to him but sometimes that causes him to be a little suspicious that Maeve will ignore advice that errs on the side of caution and will help her patient perhaps do something that can be a bit dangerous, deliberately. The perfect storm emerges to sort of solidify his fears as well and it’s something that they must work through and Jace has to realise that sometimes things happen that people don’t expect with babies and that Maeve will always do what’s best for a positive outcome.
Like with the first book, the conflict is not drawn out – the characters sit down and talk it out before it has a chance to really escalate, which is great. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first one and the fact that some of the previous characters were much more prevalent in this one made me really want to go back and read the previous books! They both sounded really great.
Maeve and Jace’s story in Maeve’s Baby by Fiona McArthur, book two in the Outback Brides Return series is a tale filled with emotions, friends, and healing. After being dumped by a doctor who only wanted her as a glorified nanny for his kids, Midwife Maeve McGill left her job to take a position at a clinic in Wirralong. Maeve is determine to enjoy her new life; especially with the help of her friend Lacey. Doctor Jace Bronson is a widow with a young daughter who temporarily moved to Wirralong to cover for a friend on paternity leave. From the moment he met Maeve, Jace knew they shared an unexpected connection. They decide to keep their relationship professional as Maeve wants to avoid heartbreak and Jace wants to prevent his daughter from falling under Maeve’s warm and caring spell; like he has. These two had good intentions, but chemistry and the magic of Wirralong has a way of bringing two wounded souls together to not only heal but to also fall in love
Ms McArthur wrote a wonderful, sweet and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with chemistry, fun banter, and charming characters giving Maeve and Jace a chance to heal their wounded hearts, a supportive community, and a forever love. I highly recommend Maeve’s Baby to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Welcome back to Wirralong. Maeve is a nurse and a midwife and has moved out to rural Wirralong to be a midwife and nurse. She was ready for a change and living in a rural community is what she is ready for.
Jace and his young daughter have temporarily moved out to Wirralong for a six month break from their life in Sydney. Jace is on a re-set of his life as a pediatrician and to focus on his daughter after the death of his wife a few years ago.
Both Jace and Maeve discover they work very well together and there is also an attraction to each other. Mauve also is finding herself falling for Jace's charming daughter Jemima. But there are some tensions between the two since Jace has some issues with midwives because of what happened when his former wife died giving birth.
This is a wonderfully written story in a wonderful small Outback town by Ms. McArthur. But it didn't engage me despite me loving every other book set in the wonderful town of Wirralong. The characters are well written and a good storyline. But for me, it is missing something. Having said that though, it is a nice summer read.
Even though this is book #2 in the current series, you can read each one individually and in any order.
I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from the publisher in exchange for a fair and unbiased review for which I would like to thank Tule Publishing for doing.
Maeve left the city and headed for the outback of Australia where her midwife skills were needed. Maeve's boyfriend had been a doctor and had used her to care for his children while he cheated on her with his ex. She bought a little place and settled in Wirralong. Shortly after her arrival, Dr. Jace Bronson arrived with his young daughter to help out the resident doctor who would be needing paternity leave when his wife delivered their baby. Dr. Bronson had committed for 6 months. He needed a break from his life and time to find a new caregiver for his young daughter before returning to the city. He had experienced tragedy in his life and was determined to avoid that kind of heartbreak ever again.
You know the trope. . . girl meets boy, both determined not to get burned by the sparks flying around them. Eventually, cupid's arrow find its place but will they take a chance to find love again or not? The choice is theirs as to whether or not there is a happy ending.
I enjoyed this book very much and I especially enjoyed the Australian back drop to this story. It was a clean and wholesome read with a happy ending thrown in.
This was a sweet and short novel about two lonely people finding each other in a small, rural Australian town. They’ve both moved there to get a fresh start and end up working together in a clinic. Maeve is a midwife and recovering from a bad relationship where the guy used her basically as a sitter for his children after his divorce and then went back to his ex. And Maeve was left having grown attached to his children and now having to leave them. So she starts off not being interested in sexy Jace, the doctor at her clinic, who is just there temporarily. And Jace has an adorable daughter so Maeve is wary of growing attached to a guy and child whom she can’t build a permanent relationship with. They fall in love, face complications, and get their HEA all pretty quickly, but it was still an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from the publisher; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
Once again we have returned to Wirralong and once gain it is spreading its charm. Somehow all the woman that arrive in Wirralong find the perfect man for them and Meave is no exception
Meave McGill is a very talented midwife she can deliver just about any baby but she is fairly sure she will never have a baby of her own after all she has really bad taste in men for example her last boyfriend a doctor actually only wanted her so she could care for his children not the life she wanted. So she has packed up her bags and come to work at the clinic in Wirralong There she meets Dr Jace Bronson he is everything she could want in a man but he is only at Wirralong for a while and doesn't want his daughter getting attached and then ripping her away from Meave so they decide to only have a business relationship Somehow that doesn't work and soon they are falling in love but can they have a future You will have to read to see
I loved both Maeve and Jace in this story set in Wirralong, located in the outback of Australia. Maeve is a nurse and a Midwife who has come to the outback to fill in for her friend Lacey, who is due to have her baby shortly. Jace is a Pediatrician with a young daughter who has lost his wife and needs to get away for a short time and has come to Wirralong to take over as the General Practice doctor at the local clinic while the main doctor is on paternity leave.
I thought the characters were well written and the story both complex and intense and would love to read the other Outback Brides book (there are four books in all, each written by a different author). Jace is trying to protect both his and his daughter's heart from further pain and Maeve is trying to live her own life instead of becoming a substitute nanny like she found herself in for the past year.
I received a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
An absolute gem of a story! It was extremely difficult to put this one down until I was done. Very well written with a pace that will keep your interest through its' entirety. The authors characters are well rounded and easy to relate to. There's just something special about reading tales from the Australian Outback that allows me to picture it all in my mind, making me wish all the more that I could see it for real, and this book certainly didn't sway me from that! Maeve and Jace have each encountered heartache over the past couple of years, but will they give their hearts the leeway to find love again? A beautiful story you won't want to miss!
Aussie settings are my favorite. I don't run into them often, I guess and find the language a delight. Half the fun of the book is trying to replace the meaning of nouns within American equivalents. I also enjoyed the insights into midwifery. My childbearing years were so long ago that midwives weren't an option in the smaller cities where I lived. Maeve is a real sweetheart, empathetic, supportive, and giving. Jace, tall, strong and openly loving. Their obstacles were primarily psychological, and seemingly not very deeply seated because the attitude changed with a few kisses. This is a sweet, clean love story suitable for all ages.
This is the second book in this series, and it is such a sweet and very heart-warming story. Jace and Maeve were great main characters. I loved them together and I love their story. They became friends and they were not looking for love. Both came to start a new path in their lives. I loved the progression in this book from the beginning to the end. You add in all the side characters and Jace’s daughter and you have yourself a very enjoyable book. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Maeve´s Baby by Fiona is book 2 in the new series Outback Brides Return to Wirralong. If you loved Outback Brides you will also love this new series. Maeve is a Midwife that just moved to Wirralong and she also bought this beautiful little ranch outside of town. Jace is the new Doctor in town, and he also just move to Wirralong, with his adorable little daughter. The scene is set for a lovely, romantic story about two people, families that needs different things, but ultimately just needs to find love and a place to belong.
This is an emotional story about two broken people. Neither one wants to open up to love ever again to protect themselves from pain. Maeve is starting over and putting herself first. Jace is taking a six months position as a small town GP to help him move past his grief. When he sees Maeve for the first time she awakens the part of him that he buried with his wife. Can they fight off their mutual attraction to keep their hearts safe? Can Maeve settle for friends with benefits and keep her heart safe from falling for the handsome doctor and his young daughter? Good read.
Maeve, a midwife, moved to Wirralong to get away from a bad relationship. Jace is subbing for a doctor who graduated with him and taking a leave of absence. They are both leery of a romance. Jace's wife died several years ago in childbirth and is busy being a single father. This is book 2 in the Wirralong series and catches up with previous characters. A nice romance set in the Australian outback. A good light romance. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
A deeply emotional tale of two wounded hearts that find their HEA. Midwife, Maeve and Dr. Jace both are new to the medical community of Wirralong. They have broken hearts from previous heartbreaks, but will soon learn to trust each other find their HEA.
I loved this sweet romance full of emotion, banter and love. A great small community with great friendships and the importance of family. I had a hard time putting this book down, I highly recommend.
It took me a while to recognize this was an Aussie story until I was able to get into the book but once that happened I love the tension between the couple and the man's young daughter and memories of the tragic death of his wife.
There was a lot of suspense and sexual tension yet devoid of any foul language yet I recognized the fantasy and explicit allusions.
