Haelston is unlike most men in the way that he craves love, or used to, until his last several relationships didn’t pan out. Consumed with the fact that he can’t find the woman of his dreams, he gives up and decides it would be better if he focuses on his career as an artist.
In the middle of his focus, a monkey wrench is thrown into his plans when he hears of the passing of an ex-girlfriend. The funeral, surprisingly, creates an opportunity that even he won’t be able to deny, when he runs into the fun and confident Honey Bee.
Bee is a divorcée who is ready to jump back into the dating waters, and Haelston is exactly the type of man she’d like to sink her teeth into – if he’s ready to accept the love she has to give.
When love presents itself, will Haelston be strong enough to recognize and receive it, or will he miss the chance of a lifetime because of past disappointments?

Slow burn is very accurate. It was sensual, Romance was on point, it was soul stirring and I loved it. The complexity of the friendships who knew who and how...the crossing of paths... well written.
What if you’ve been searching for someone to love and complete you but when you find that love your not ready for it.
I loved the story of Honey Bee and Haelston. You could feel the chemistry between them the moment their eyes connected. I felt like I was in the scene when they first saw each other and I was watching everything play out. That’s how much the chemistry between them was felt. There was a scene where Haelston said, “You ain’t no stranger. Your soul connected to mine the moment I laid eyes on you.” OMG! That was so powerful.
There is some poetry through the book that I skipped. I’m not a poetry fan but skipping it took nothing away from the story.
I was a little mad at Haelston. How could you still be hung up on someone who you helped find their self emotionally and they leave you and give the love you gave them to someone else? Then when someone that has the love to give that you have been looking for comes along you kind of push them away.
I’m giving But Without Haste 5 stars and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a feel good love story.
“You ain’t no stranger. Your soul connected to mine the moment I laid eyes on you.” Those words spoken to Honey Bee by Haelston made me fall in love with the thoughts of reading the words to come of them falling deeply in love and healing one another's heart. They were so beautiful together even though they both had bad experiences of falling in love. Asia was just to childish and selfish not deserving Haelston's love and Ashara didn't know how to receive Haelston's love because she didn't think that she was worthy of it. Cortez fell for the woman Ashara became after Haelston's love healed her. Michael was a punk for drawing out the divorce and Drew was a buster for running to social media trying to hurt Honey Bee and affect her income. Hurt people hurt people but Haelston and Honey Bee helped each other heal and their love grew and soared to whole new heights. I really loved this book and the maturity of Haelston and Honey Bee.
What a great love story! Sometimes one has to go through rough times, to come out better, stronger on the other side. This was the case for Hally and Honey. Both having been in relationships that were not right for them, prepared them for when they met the "one". I loved the slow build up, with them bumping into each other all over town, and having the connection through Ashara. You could see how strong the connection was with them, but fear gripped them both so strong, that they were afraid to move on it. But there is only so long you can hold back when you heart is being called by another. Beautiful story! Great job!
This sentence, "Just as slowly and without haste as he made love to me was just as slowly and carefully as we were allowing ourselves to know and love one another" sums this book up perfectly! I can only marvel at how well written this book was. Chapter after chapter I wondered what a "slow burn" novel was, but I soon found out. The passion, desire, and healing between these characters was slow but purposeful. I don't know if the author meant for this to be a cautionary tale, but it is. Good things come to those who wait.
I discovered B. Love about a year ago and she easily became one of my favorite authors. Her words are always very soothing to me and balances me out especially when I'm in a funk. This book ended up being my favorite one of hers yet! (honestly the fact that the heroine's name is Honey Bee would've made it my favorite on its own) Honey Bee and Haelston are everything!!! I was worried going in because I'm not into slow burns but the pace was just right and it was pretty much perfect. I honestly didn't want it to end and can see myself going back and rereading it a lot.
I had to go back and read the tv title of this book because it was slow moving! But after I did I was able to relax NY anxiousness and let the characters develop. At first I did feel some type of way that these heavily flawed characters would never find their way to one another. Also I needed more clarity on what brought about Honey's divorce after all of the stalling and what happened to Drew when the truth came out. The was closure on Haelston's end but not hers. Needless to say I enjoyed this book.
What an inspiring story. To love someone so deep only for them to give that love to someone else. Sometimes when we think we have the one, funny thing happen to show you otherwise. With healing and reflection within, we come to understand that that person served their purpose in your life. When you let go and understand we make room for the right one. Good job!!!
Whew, I’m rarely at a loss for words but this “Slow burn” was in a few words was healing, restorative and hopeful. The pain that Hally & Honey experienced was eerily reminiscent of so many real life love experiences. This book provided poetry, a story line and a love story that slowly burned into your orifices and made you hungry for more.
But Without Haste is a good read. Honey Bee was funny, smart, creative, and poetic. Haelston was an artist as well, so they vibes very nicely together. I give this one 4 ⭐️s for the beginning with Drew, cause it honestly had me thinking he was the love interest in this book.
I enjoyed reading about a man desperate for love. Haelston was an artistically passionate dream. I felt his pain and desire for a deep reciprocated love. Then he meets Honey...the journey was slow but intense. I would have enjoyed more of the experience of their relationship.
Honey Bee and Hally (his nickname) honestly were 2 amazing people just trying to find the RIGHT love. It’s funny how they kept running into each other. But I think that was God and Ashara’s doing. Great read, Great book BUT B.Love never lets us down on her pen game. Oh and poems were phenomenal!
This book left me lifted and filled with so much love. It was love on some higher consciousness. The poetry was amazing. Loved the soul searching done by the characters. I’ll read this at least two more times to unpack the love lessons taught by Honey and Haleston. My hats off to the author!!!
He was such a good guy. Hard working and just wanted to be loved. She was looking for love but was not in a position to be seeking it. But once her new life started she was ready to give love to the man that caught her eye and heart all at the same time. This was very well put together. I really enjoyed it
Great book. Loved how Hal and Bee were meant for each other but they just didn’t know at that very moment but on so many occasions they were brought together without even knowing. It’s like the universe was speaking to them and the funeral confirmed that they were meant for each other. I love how they took things slow and on their own terms and end the end it worked out for both of them.!
Such a beautiful story.. a grown up love story that shared the feelings of what happens when love breaks your heart and you are afraid to love again. So well written as both Hallelujah and Honey take their time to cultivate their love while guarding their hearts 💕
This was such a great book. I loved that it was a slow burn romance even though the first time they interacted was pure 🔥! The slow burn allowed them to heal from their past hurts and open up to love. I thoroughly enjoyed this work from B. Love.
Yes, this was so touching. I loved the journey they took to love. Was moved by the beautiful poetry and visions of this story...Honey and Hael are on another plane with the intensity of their communication and language. Thank you B, this was a true gift!
Haelston and Honey Bee's story was just WOW! The poems that they shared to each other in the gallery just blew me away. Great story and I like how you let it slow burn then turn into full bown flamer. I laughed at Drew's flawed behavior too. Great book.
This was a great slow burn romance. I love how Hal and Honey Bee slowly fell in love. They became friends first and mutually built each other up, providing everything that was needed and missing in the others life. The poetry was just an added bonus in such a beautifully written book.
I loved the build up to this romance. It showed just how much the right person can bring into your life and how the loves of the past are meant to teach you something. I truly enjoyed this storyline
Hally and B are examples of why it's important to HEAL from the inside out before you dive right back into relationships. Also that the healing looks different for everyone!!
Honey Bee and Haelston were both broken but they found love at first sight. I loved how they let their love grow slowly just like a slow burn! It was sensual and sexual! A great read!
I liked Honey Bee and Hal, I didn't understand why she didn't tell Drew she was married. I felt like he overreacted as well. The way she kept running into Hal was nothing short of fate.
Honey-Bee love that name different. Haelston and Honey found there way to each off a lost of there beloved friend. What have you is only for you. It sad because they lost a friend but there union was awesome. I'm happy for both of them😘😘
Two lost souls looking for love and finding it in each other. To think about giving up and then finding that one person God made just for you. This was a great love story from the beginning to the end.
Ok. This book had tears flowing like a river down my cheeks. Some people don't believe in this kind of love but it does exist. I haven't read a book that I didn't like from B. She got me wanting to visit Memphis.
That was absolutely beautiful!! I loved their story. The instant connection and attraction was amazing and captivating. The way they spoke to one another through their art was exhilarating. Whew!!!
