Teenage Alex Thompson just finished a big con job with his new partner, Gideon Hochberg, but his luck never lasts. Staying low in a small town in Tennessee sounded like a fine idea, but neither teenager expected a pandemic to change their plans. While Gideon doomsays, Alex tries to hold onto faith--but can Alex truly choose hope? Or is he a lost stray doomed for death?
An Infidel Books short story prequel, LOCKDOWN reflects on the unyielding American spirit and how there is hope through the most difficult times.

Lockdown by Angela R Watts is an amazing prequel short story to the world of the Infidel Books.
Presumably set years before the first book, Lockdown shows us the burgeoning friendship between young thief Alex Thompson and Gideon Hochberg. What I found most interesting about the short story was the fact that it just focuses on these two characters.
Angela does an amazing job in Lockdown using the current climate we are facing to speak on the hope that Alex has that God will get us through the current state of affairs.
Overall, I would highly recommend Lockdown and would give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
A short prequel story taking place during the 2020 pandemic a few weeks after Gideon saved Alex. It would have been cool to see the actual scene when Alex was rescued, but I suppose it is meant to be a haunting blurry past even for us readers. I really liked the references to things we are going through now (toilet paper jokes and being sad that Vine is gone) and the emotions and writing were really good! This story was from Alex' point of view, and I really like seeing him and Gideon before they became close friends! It felt realistic and I wanted to shake Gideon a little bit (like: talk to Alex more, he doesn't know you two are friends!). Their teasing in that one scene was perfection. There were a few bad words even in this short story. I think I caught at least one or two, but no more than three. :/
Now that we have an Alex and Gideon story, might there be a Nate short story in the future? *attempts to do puppy dog eyes*
It was fun to read more about Alex and Gideon because I loved them in The Divided Nation. I wish there had been more conflict in the story and had more of a climax. I also wish I had learned why Iggy left.
I think it was interesting that Angela wrote the story about the pandemic as well and it can help people who have been struggling this year.
This was a sweet story. It very much captures the boredom and helplessness that we all felt during the beginning of the pandemic. I enjoyed the relationship between Alex and Gideon. I have only read Paradise Lost so far so I’m not very knowledgeable on these two yet, but I really like them.
