Life in the time of a quarantine can be hard and sometimes kids have trouble understanding what to do and why. That’s why I’ve written this book. I want to help kids and adults cope with the “new normal” that is a quarantine.
Meant for educational purposes, but still an enjoyable, light, and colorful read, Joe and Chip in Quarantine leaves you with an overall impression that this is what we have to do, for now, so let’s make the most of it.

This picture book is informative enough about what is happening in the world due to COVID-19 without being scary for kids. The author, Toi Thomas, explains the situation and the importance of social-distancing in a way that children will be able to understand. There was a moment while I was reading it where I was hit with sadness just because of how different things are. With cute illustrations, this story informs children about what to do to stay healthy and how to protect at-risk individuals. Highly recommended.
