I was given this advanced reading copy of Magick for an honest review from the author. A couple of months ago she asked me to be her beta-reader and when I was done I thought the book had potential so I asked her to tell me when it's done.

Now lets begin with the review.

OH MY GOD! I am overwhelmed especially with the end of this book! I read it before it was done and now, reading it again, I am amazed! This book is so much better now! And this ending!

I really like Mira Monroe's writing style and the way she describes everything. I enjoyed Magick very much and it didn't really take me long to read it even though I read slower in english. I love the world and the characters she's created and everything that was done. The difference between this book and the first copy I got is so big that I can't even comprehend it because this final edition is awesome!

Okay, I won't say what is the book about because the summary is just a few scrolls up and I can't really do that in english but I will say that everything is done in a very good way.

At first the story might seem a little slow but soon after it catches up and everything starts to be so good I don't even know what's happened because I didn't really believe that I'd get to like it so much! I gave it 4 stars!

There is suddenly more action and the events are happening in a better way, you know? I even got that feeling when you are reading a good book and can't put it down! I really enjoyed it this much.

There are two things that I look for most in a book and thеy are:

1. The characters

I already said that Mira Monroe's created very good characters but they are many so I'll write about only some of them.

Willow is the main protagonist here and is what I call my type of heroine. She is an ordinary teenage girl but not at all. The thing I like most about her is that she seems to be open-minded because she easily accepted that she is a descendant of two powerful bloodlines of Wiccans. Personally, I get very irritated when the main characters can't accept who they are and the fact that Willow actually copes with it easily got me to like her instantly. Another reason is that she grows to be very powerful and there is nothing I love most than a powerful woman.

Rhydian is a mysterious character who I hope is her future love interest because there is something implied there, between them, but not quite much. I really want to see more of him, because I like him. Rhydian seems to be a good man and a powerful one as well. I love these kinds of men so I like him.

His relationship with Willow might be complicated but they barely know each other and that's why I hope in the second book I'll get to see them developing their relationship and getting closer.

I like Willow's friends because they support her no matter what happens and even though she is the reason some of them get hurt, they stay loyal to her and help her when she most needs them. There is nothing better than some good friends to back you up when bad times come.

I love the Guardians. There is nothing more that I love than a good big warrior of The Black Dagger Brotherhood type and I imagine Quinn, Cross and Tullen just like some of the brothers and they are refered to as big men so I quite like them. They are funny, to me at least, and I love characters like them.

I also realize that I constantly repeat myself but I can't really help it.
Lets just move to the second thing.

2. The end

God! The ending! It is quite changed and in a very good way. I can't be more satisfied with it! I mean It is very good and it gets you on a cliffhanger. It's very mean and very clever at the same time because now I crave the second book and want to know what happens next!

I love a good ending and usually I either remove or add one star to my final rating because of it. It was very tensed, full of action and magick and it all went really well. I was really excited at the end and this fact speaks for itself. ^^

As a first book Magick is really good. It is easy to read and easy to like, especially if you are not pretentious like me. There is a time when I just want to read a book like this one, where everything is easy to understand and yet you enjoy it just as much as you would enjoy a harder read.
So, this is my opinion. ^^

The book revolves around Willow, a teenager in her last year of highschool. She comes from a very influential family and is supposed to follow the same legacy as her father and grandfather, who are big names in the financial markets of Mergers and Acquisitions.

From the very first chapter, there's an aura of mystery to the book. Willow is still reeling after the accident of her Mom few years ago, but there is definitely more than what meet the eyes.
Then there is some personal issue with a boy that Willow is dealing with as well.

Like all typical YA books, this too had a teen with not so perfect life, a dubious boyfriend, Daniel and a chirpy sidekick/bestfriend. Few chapters in, and I was feeling like this was going to be the same boring cliché like so many others out there.

But then, about halfway through the story, the book takes a complete 360 turnaround and the result was amazing, something so truly fascinating that made me instantly interested.

We all dream of being a King or Queen. Well, not our MC. When Willow finds out that she is to be coronated, this responsibility seems to be a burden to her as there are people/factions who are not at all happy to accept an outsider as their ruler.

Contrary to unpoular opinion, I did like Daniel and I'm rooting for their relationship to stand the test of time in the next book.

I loved this book so much that I'm going to dive in immediately for the second book. I'm going to give this FIVE UNWANTED STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The story revolves around a young girl Willow, a high school student who has a loving boyfriend, good friends and a caring father. The only big decision she thoughts of tacking is changing her phone case but her world turns upside down when her long-lost grandmother, reveals that not only does she come from a long line of Wiccans, but she’s also part of the royal family, and next in line for the crown! Not everyone is happy to discover this outsider is about to take the throne, and Willow’s life is in danger – along with those around her.
Read to know about her experiences with magic and struggle to reach the crown and keeping herself and her people safe.

👉I don't read this genre book much, but when I started reading this I just loved it and couldn't stop myself.
👉The storyline is very thrilling and intriguing and keeps the reader on their toes and flipping through pages.
👉While as there are many transportation's to different phases and places, the book is simple and brief to understand.
👉It is a fast-paced action and romance and mystery filled book.
👉I loved all the character description and character building.
👉The book ends on a cliffhanger and I just can't wait to read the next part.

This book is a dystopian fiction - a genre I have always loved and this book exceeded my expectations!

It has suspense, action, magic and a touch of romance. The storyline is gripping amd the suspense build-up is great. The language is also pretty easy.

The only downside is that the book is way too short. The number of pages does not do justice to the story! A lot of stuff should have been explained in a detailed manner!

Also, the book reminded me a lot of 'The Mortal Instrument' series. If you liked that, you will probably like this too!

The book revolves around Willow, a teenager in her last year of high school. She comes from a very influential family which she is unaware of. But one day her long-lost grandmother comes and tells her that she has to take the honor of being the queen as she is the next one in line after her mother, who isn't alive anymore. She is supposed to follow the same legacy as her father and grandfather.

She faced various bleaks in her life, like losing her mother at a very young age of 6 and undergoing a rape attempt. She was surviving all this, but she came to know something else. Willow's world is turning disheveled, as a new realm invades, complete with miscreant Guardians and a handsome warrior who's vouched to stand by her side till his last breath.

Will she accept the reign? Will she be able to fulfill her legacy wish? Will she succeed in her responsibility? Did she ever fell in love any? Read the book to know them.

The author painted various shades of tension in the plot, litigation, mysticism, and a touch of romance. The storyline is gripping and the suspense build-up is great. The language is lucid. Fantasy readers demand exotic worlds populated by equally exotic and diverse characters. Fantasy is a broad, wonderful, and immersive experience that can cater to many people, and offers a tremendous amount of variation if done correctly and I should appreciate the author for the same. I would recommend this book to all. My best wishes to the author!

I loved this story. Such a fun read, I could hardly put it down. I love the way that Mira mixed fantasy and reality. I adore that the main character isn't some damsel in distress, very modern. She did an excellent job of moving the story along without letting it get boring. The twists and unexpected turns really sent me through a spin whilst reading and I could hardly get enough. I can't wait for the second book to come!

I’m not going to give this a rating because the style isn’t my usual style. In the recent years, I’m a primarily adult fantasy type of gal, so when I read YA, I can be a tough judge.

First things first: I loved that Mira Monroe put content warnings at the beginning of her novel. I think this was mostly light hearted but there’s some sensitive topics and I think people will always appreciate that. Also, this cover is gorgeous. It’s an easy read, I read it all in one go in about two hours. Willow finds out that she’s a witch and next in line from the crown. From there ensues a LOT of action. Sometimes I felt like things moved too quickly. This book itself could have expanded on some of the ideas and had been two full sized novels. There were a lot of people thrown that became instantly important. One thing for sure, I would have loved this novel as a young girl. This would be the perfect type of book for a teenage girl that loves the supernatural. I did love that she had this cool combination of Wicca and Norse mythology (which can often be traced back to similar roots). I am super curious to see where the next book goes!

Well worth checking out this new author Mira Monroe!! I was lucky to get an advanced readers copy, but it comes out soon. Magick sets up a delightful maze of alternative realms. It’s ingenious. And just when you are truly frustrated (but in a good way like on the edge of your seat) the story unfolds beautifully. I’d almost describe it as a psychological mind teaser with alternate planes and realms set in the current day and with an almost fairy tale style. Willow, the protagonist, is a strong, witty teenager insisting she can be independent at the young age of seventeen. Her snarky remarks bring humor and realism to her character. The story has coming-of-age challenges and Willow tackles them with class just as a young royal should. Of course, she’s not without her flaws. Rhydian is a dream. I picked up on some romantic tension between Rhydian and Willow, but I’m still not certain he’s entirely safe either. I hope he is. I’ll have to read the next in the series to find out. And that reminds me, Willow’s darker side reveals itself in places making for another interesting twist.

Unfortunately, "Magick" did not live up to my expectations. Aside from the grammatical and spelling errors in the book (first time I think I have seen "some-one" instead of someone), the story fell a little flat for me. The story is told from Willow's perspective and she's a spoiled rich kid down to the core. I felt for her at first, as the book begins with her discussing the fall out from when she was almost raped (warning for that, by the way, as it is mentioned in the first couple pages). Soon though, as she has no sympathy for others' suffering and disparages her wealthy lifestyle, you start to get the feeling that even though she's had some difficult experiences, she is a spoiled wealthy child at heart and even seems like a bully in some ways. I had a hard time following the story as events were not well explained and there are a lot of characters mentioned quickly. I feel like the plot had a lot of potential, but between the main character and the quickly changing scenes/places, I didn't enjoy it despite how much I wanted to. Please note that I received this book through a goodreads giveaway. All opinions are my own.

I am a lover of fantasy, fairyland, mystical and everything magical. Hence the name of the book itself made me so excited to read it and I was very happy by the end of the book.

Willow who is in her final year of studies goes to a therapist as she was involved in a car accident, she survived the accident but not her mother. After that she also faced an assault in a lonely alley where the boy had a fractured arm but she was saved without getting hurt.

She otherwise leads a normal life like my other teenager, she hangs out with Lucy her best friend, her boyfriend Daniel and a few other friends in school. At home her rich father, Mrs Scott the chubby house manager and Duke their dog.

Her Maternal grandmother comes to visit her that's when her cosy world is changed forevee, she discovers she has some powers and she needs to save the edayari realm with her 'Magick' powers.

The story takes off from here to a different fantasy world, it's so interesting and it actually felt as if I was watch a movie. The author has done the descriptions well and kept the flow of the story very interesting.
Language is simple and easy and character s are very well formed. I am sure the author has put in a lot of effort just into the characters of the book.

Definitely a must read book for every book lover. Beginners will love it too as the story is very well described and very simple too.

There is another part to this and I will read that and review it too

Magick, from Mira Monroe, is the first book in The Unwanted Series. What appealed the generally to me was the main character, Willow. We be subjected to the novel from her perspective and I was on the whole full with her character. A morsel of a snarky high school senior who makes the routine notes for somebody that age. here is as much as necessary magick to maintain folks readers engrossed but the story is besides especially a good deal about people, which is not each time the state of affairs in genres that take care of to lay emphasis on action over classification (fantasy, action/adventure, mystical to a great extent). This was, for me, a story about an fascinating adolescent teenager fitting a juvenile woman, but in the realm of Wiccan and magick. As the first in a new series in attendance is a nice morsel of seat particular to establishing the inveterate font and their dynamics nevertheless the story quieten maintained a awfully satisfactory surge and by no means got bogged down in background. The respite of the cycle will apt impartial become excel as Willow grows into her new life. In adding up to readers of YA fantasy/paranormal I would too put in a good word for this for readers who have coming-of-age stories and don't take care the fantasy/paranormal aspect. It is a sharp-witted read and, in my case, has lured me the
next in the series.

Willow, a high school teenager was trying to make the best of her life after the unfortunate sudden demise of her mother when she was just 6 years old and a subsequent rape attempt, which she was trying to come to terms with by taking counseling sessions with her psychiatrist Dr. Evan.
Her father, a supremely rich person has very little time to spend with her daughter as he is consistently occupied with his business. She has closed attached to Mrs. Scott. She is busy in her life and enjoying the friendship of 2 girls and his boyfriend Daniell. She is a normal teenager, who gets influenced by the typical issues individuals face at that age, love, ego, hatred, and possessiveness, until one day, she was made aware of an unusual fact when her maternal grandmother came to visit their small family! That day turned her life 180 degrees!
She was made to realize that she was a mixed DNA of two exactly opposite personalities and how mixed powers are installed in her! Her mother was to inherit the seat of the Wiccan LINE, but the unfortunate accident has changed the sequence of events! Even Her best friend was from the enemy clan,so she was asked to maintain distance from her!!
She was chased by many people, who attacked Mrs. Scott, which shook her! However, Rhydian, the young boy who was asked to take care of her during such times was a sigh of relief. I am rooting for seeing a love interest in that subplot! I am intrigued as to what other mysteries the second book has stored for us. Waiting to read it soon too!

Starting with the cover, it so beautiful and attractive. Plus the title of the book is interesting in itself.
It's a fast paced book with so much to give to its readers that right I want more of this plot. The author has beautifully written this book. I being a fantasy lover, loved it. It has the perfect combination of the elements that is required for a good and nice fantasy book.
Our protagonist, Willow is leading a simple life in the world of mortals, where magic has no existence. She is dealing with her issues and problems yet trying to move fourth with all she has with her.
But one day her long lost grandmother comes and tells her that she (our protagonist) has to take the honour of being the queen as she is the next one in line after her mother, who isn't alive anymore.
Her world is turned upside down with the fact that she belongs to a royal family and now she has to become a part of that world.
There's element of romance in the book plus the magic is such a beautiful combination. Willow's story of getting habituated to this new world is very amazing and there's a part two of this series is going to be an amazing book I hope so. I will read that too.

ABOUT THE BOOK
The story revolves around Willow, a high school teenager. In spite of rich kid, she suffered a lot mentally she lost her mother when she was 6, and a subsequent rape attempt, which she was trying to overcome with the help of Dr. Evan.
Her father being a rich business is always busy with his work and spend very less time with her. She was closely attached to Mrs. Scott.
Willow was enjoying her life with her 2 friends and her boyfriend Daniel. MY VIEWS ABOUT THE BOOK
Well suspense stories are always my favourite, and when talking about this wonderful book, I just love to read it. The characters are well defined and the story keep you engaged. The emotions are well expressed and the language is simple and lucid which help the reader to understand easily. And also, the second part of the book is having more suspense and thriller.

Willow is a 16-year-old girl who is living a perfectly normal teenage life. . . or so it seems. First, she finds out she is a witch and then she finds out she is the heir to her families Wiccan throne! I loved that Willow was so real she had inner demons and she had a therapist, she was just so relatable!! She was witty and just so much fun to read about! She had realistic relationships with her father, friends, and boyfriend which can be very hard to find in YA novels!

Even though this story was short the world building was spectacular! I understood how the magic and "government" system of the world worked without being bogged down with information! The pacing was perfect; I was never bored and I found myself not wanting to stop reading all the way through to the very last page! The magic system was very well developed and I loved how Monroe incorporates some real life Wiccan beliefs and rituals into the story!

The ending was a huge cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read more! The only thing negative I can say is the editing, grammar and wording might need a little help which is why I took off a half star!

Perfect for fans of The Mortal Instruments and The Sweep Series!

My first ever fantasy with wiccans, faes, valkyries and warriers. So very happy that I read this and excited for the sequel.
📖
What would you do if one day someone tells you that you belong to a royal lineage of wiccans and you are the next in line for the throne in the magickal kingdom of Edyari?
I don't know how you would react. But willow, a high school girl, is pretty confused and comprehend the fact that she us of royal heritage and that her parents are no less belong to the same clan as her. But before she could fully grasp her history, things changed for the worst around her. And she is forced to step up and act as the queen she is.
📖
I have been wondering what could possibly be great about fantasies that made people create fandoms and talk about it non-stop. But I know. The shear joy of knowing what power does a particular person withholds makes them so interesting. Magick is one such stories with kings and queens and bureaucracies and the hope for an united kindom. I have never been able to start any fantasy books let alone finish them, but this one is so intriguing and interesting that I am glad that I read it. The story has an interesting plot and strong characters. But there are emotional scenes as well that rounds the story perfectly. Since it's my first time reading such genre certain places were difficult to grasp. But the writing is simple and clear. 💜
📖
A sure recommendation for fantasy lovers. And many things are yet to be revealed and it ended in a cliffhanger. Sure to hype you for the sequel... If you love fantasy genre, then do look into this. You will definitely love this.

Magick: 1 (Unwanted) is a first part of series which is written by Mira Monroe. The main protagonist of the saga is a young girl willow. She is a high school girl but besides that she has another life story too, which is completely asunder from her normal life.

Read the book to know about the saga❤️

I found the story to be very interesting. The plot and story line are good. The cover of the book is so much attractive for the readers. The only spoiler of the book is that The book is completely magical and creates a magical world around you.The story has lot of ups and downs which makes you in the book till the last. Language is lucid and pretty much good. Narration of the book can be more better but this is also good.

Grab the book to know the ups and downs of the king's and queen's life through this wonderful book.

This book portrays the life of Willow who is living in mortal world. And trying to overcome the obstacles of life when one day her long lost grandma tells her that she had to be the queen after her mother. Grab your copies now witness how her world turns upside down.A perfect pack with romantic touch and magical essence.
The cover and title are the most fascinating things that urged me to pick this book. This book is ultimate combo and did not disappoint at all. Only thing to be mentioned as a drawback is that its narration went confusing at times and the description becomes unclear and confusing..
Her world is turned upside down with the fact that she belongs to a royal family and now she has to become a part of that world.
The Willow's journey is very interesting and the best part is that this story has a part 2 too. I will definitely read that.

Mira creates a wondrous dual world. Magical hidden creatures collide in Willow's high school life as if high school wasn't hard enough. It's the last thing Willow wants, but being destined for the crown she has no choice. I found Willow to be a great main character—smart, courageous, and loyal. The story is full of twists that keep you turning pages. It's true—a combination of Beautiful Creatures and Princess Diaries. If you like this genre you're sure to love Magick. Can't wait to read Reign, the next one in the series.

First, I'd like to point out the beauty of the front cover. I. Am. In. Love.
As far as the inside of the book goes, I am also in love.

With the exception of a few spelling errors, I thought this book was extremely well written, full of imagery and excitement. Willow is a very believable, unique and developed character, I found her to be really likable, which isn't always the easiest to do when creating YA female characters.
Even though the book was relatively short, (a little over 200 pages) it was packed full of action, adventure and of course, romance.
Young adult fantasy novels always seem to be hit or miss with me. I found myself to be extremely pleased with this one, it was fast-paced and fun. Overall, a very enjoyable read. It exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to read the second book in the series.

I definitely recommend this book, especially to those interested (or obsessed, like me) in YA fantasy novels, specifically those that involve wiccans.

It’s a story about Willow, a teenage girl with a mixed DNA of two opposite personalities leading a simple life with several problems to tackle but her life brings in a twist when she comes to know that she belongs to the royal family and is next to the kin.

The story has lot of ups and downs, emotions, love and hatred. Story is coupled with lots of secrets which creates lots of drama in the series. Author Mira Monroe’s mystery slowly unravels but the story ends with a suspense and keeps everyone excited for book 2. I enjoyed the book thoroughly as story is very different from the many series that I have read till now and reviewed.

Great start to a series!

There is a secret… a royal Wiccan one…

Willow is an every day high school student, until she discovers her magic, and the fact she’s the heir to the Wiccan throne.

C. M. Newell’s writing style is fresh and fun, and on point for the YA fantasy genre. My favourite scene was Willow’s first encounter with a demon. Pacy, tense, and full of action.

Highly recommend!

I really love this YA paranormal fantasy, set in present day. It centers around female chosen one, Willow, who has just learned she has powerful magical abilities. Willow is a strong and likeable lead and the story ends with a cliffhanger that has me excited to read the next book in the series!

I absolutely loved this book, it's small twists and turns and the setting just drew me in. In my opinion this book is different to the normal magical books, for one, it's about the Wiccans. The normal use of magic is there, but the descriptions and small use of it gives it a different twist to the normal sorts.

I would recommend this to anyone I could, and will definitely be allowing my friends to read it too.

The only complaint I have is its length.... it's not long enough, I need more!! Oh how I can't wait until early 2017.

Thank you Mira Monroe for your amazing way with words and I can't wait for more!
