Denise graduated with a master’s in Social Work from an ivy league school and has spent many years of her life working with families and individuals in need of assistance. She has always had a passion for writing, but it wasn't until she went through a difficult pregnancy and was on bedrest that Denise turned her passion into her profession. Whenever Denise is not typing away on one of her books, you can find her caring for her son, binging Netflix with her beloved husband, or chasing after her puppy (who should technically be an adult dog by now).
This was an enjoyable and quick read but I don't think it will be particularly memorable for me in the long run. I won't mind reading it a second time.
Since time travel is the only kind of fantasy I like, I'm usually not too demanding about it. So while A Modern Lady is not great literature, I enjoyed it. It had likable characters and a cute romance, with only one cringe-inducing sex scene that didn't seem to fit in this otherwise almost innocent story.
In the less common travel-forward scenario, Lady Isabella finds herself in a very stressful situation in 1881 London one minute, and the next in Philadelphia sometime in "the 21st century." It was entertaining to follow her reaction to all the amazing things she saw, and to see her revel in the freedom enjoyed by women of this time. She took to cell phones and Google searches very quickly!
I thought the time-travel mechanism was clever, and realized at the end this was #2 in a series. But it totally stands on its own - this is the correct way to do it, authors of series take note! I liked this enough, with the subtle ties to the first story, that I will probably purchase that one to see what happened there.
3.5 stars! It is a welcome change to read a book where the women goes forward in time instead of back in time (even though I like that). I don’t think I have seen this done before (if anyone has any recommendations of this being done, let me know) and it was so fun to see our main character navigate a world in which she has a say in her life and freedom to do what she wants. I also enjoyed the romance as well, the love interest was great. I liked him a lot. There are also other characters and a sort of stalker... So good! Highly recommend.
I just loved this book. Instead of going backward the Lady in peril from marrying a monster comes to modern day Philadelphia. Then she is almost hit by a car. I loved her, and Liam, Dan Jerry , and Henry. The only true evil rotten person was her mother that she left far behind her. Great story, ending, and Epilogue. It made me smile. A true feel good book. 5 stars.

My review :
What a lady to do when freedom is within her reach but she is duty bound to going back home ...
After reading Trapped in Time, Mrs Denise Daye debut novel, I needed to read its sequel. And I was not disappointed. I like it when the time travel trope is a bit twisted, it is so often a modern woman sent back in time, that for once it is the opposite, it is to be remarked. Isabella is a very resilient woman, at first I was upset at her refusal for help, but I am me born in the last part of the XXth century, when she is a lady used to have people filling her needs and no one to really trust. Plus mind troubles were lot kindly treated, it was asylum instead of rest home. When finally she accepts she needs help, it comes from the most unusual person, but also the most obvious to know what it is to have lost everything. While she lives at the present time, she is still a XIXth young woman, with her upbringing taking a over on all her decisions. Despite having found a place and a reason to stay, she feels compiled to return. Liam is a kind and caring man, even his business is proof of his good heart. As a man of today, he struggles to believe Isabella. Sure, she has a different bearing than any other woman he has encountered, still ... But his good heart will do anything to help her even let her go if it is her true desire. And it is his pride that may cost them everything.
It was an entertaining and fun read with very likable characters, a bit twisted. 4.5 stars
I was granted an advance copy by the author and purchased my own. Here is my true and unbiased opinion.
Denise Daye is a gifted writer who crafts fascinating characters across time. She masterfully weaves her tale, connecting this second in the series with characters in the first book through a surprising twist. Look forward to reading book #3!
ONE DELIGHTFULLY WICKED THRILL!!! Fabulous! Denise nailed this fascinating approach with 100% on point realism, bestowing one magnificent storyline and arresting plot, blasting this little treasure wide open, welding it together sleek, shiny and tight. A raging vortex of baffling circumstances and fervent events, catapults those churning emotions into play front and center. Cognizant of the instant awareness and charged atmosphere, along with a slew of thrilling twists and wicked turns, tests our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Rousting the drama, underlying currents, turmoil, stalker, mounting suspense and precarious situations along with a boatload of confusion while dodging calamity, you have one block busting adventure. Satisfaction rocks this jewel, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, riding roughshod and imparting one block busting piece of perfection, thrusting this gem to life beautifully. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, blowing this gem into a swirling tempest, blasting it into a frenzy with a life-altering culmination. Twixt, twinned and interwoven, exposing the heart pounding ups and gut wretching downs, grounding in it's strength and awe inspiring in it's depth. The characters are authentic and genuine with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it's like being transported to ground zero with them. Amazing job Denise, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
A Modern Lady is like the flip side of Trapped in Time and continues the story.
Lady Isabella Astley is miserable. She is attending the opera with her mother and the rich suitor her mother has ordered her to marry. The man is a pig, at least he smells and sweats like one. She struggles not to vomit on him. His hands are in constant motion, traveling to forbidden places. Finally Isabella snaps. She stands up and backhands him hard enough to throw his head back, shouting, "Get your filthy hands off me!"
As she leaves the opera house, her mother is right behind her, berating her loudly and insisting that she go back inside and apologize, on her knees if necessary. When Isabella refuses, her mother throws a coin at her, telling her that's all she is worth.
When Isabella bends to retrieve the coin, the horse-drawn carriage is already upon her. When she opens her eyes, she sees a strange machine emitting a bright light and making a humming sound, and a strange man is holding her in his arms.

Had to put this in the DNF pile unfortunately (2/3 read).
A woman from Victorian England is transported to modern day USA. Started out OK. Had a hard time liking the female MC but kept going. Once the time hop happened, too much of it felt extremely unrealistic to me (as in her reactions or the lack thereof). I can't imagine the daughter of a Duke would be so happy and fine with living on the street for three weeks, even if she has new-found freedom. Jerry was not likable for me. I think the abundant use of exclamation points didn't help. It made moments feel over the top for no reason (a preference thing, I guess?)
All that aside, I couldn't get into the romance aspect. It felt telly. I didn't think they had enough interaction for the feelings that I was told they had. It did get better after the first kiss, but by then they'd already kissed and it just felt weird to me. I don't know :( Explicit scene is where I threw in the towel. Normally I'd just skip, but I didn't care enough to finish the story to do so.
Did not finish. Made it about 30% of the way, and couldn’t handle the repetition and grammar errors. Please note, when you have conversation, each change of speakers starts a new paragraph. I kept having to go back a few sentences and re-read to figure out who was talking since the author did not separate the speakers with their own paragraph/line. This detracted from the already mediocre writing. I liked the story premise, as we don’t often see time travel where people go forward in time, so i was excited to give this book a try. It has potential, just needs a better editor.
What a way to have your life go and what a change. To be in the eighteen hundreds and all of a sudden be in the twenty first century. Just imagine the difference and what would a person think or imagine was the matter. And then to try to get back and have to depend on one man to do it. Then throw in the danger on top of that. What a ride. I love time travel and this author is amazing at writing about it in her stories. I recommend them. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Book 2 in this series follows Isabella, the other half of our time traveling ladies. She has a fight with her fortune hunter mother and then gets hit by a carriage, the end. Just kidding. That precipitates her waking in present day *almost* hit by a car and then trying to find her way.
You will need to suspend a little disbelief as you did with the first, but if you are willing to do that, then this is a lovely story with some great found family elements and I definitely chuckled more than once along the way.
Four stars, cute travel romance Isabella wants to escape her force marriage and her mother in 1881.. Some how she switched with another woman time traveling.. Each taking the other place, she meets a homeless woman Dan that helps her cope.. Then she meets Liam who she falls for, he wants her to stay, she has not made up her mind.. But when it comes to love, time doesn't matter.. It all works out in the end.
Denise Daye's second installment in her time travel series, "A Modern Lady Lost in Time", had a much more satisfying ending than Book 1, and even cleared up some of the latter's unanswered mysteries. While the fate of Emma Washington of the first novel is still unclear, Isabella and Liam's story does bring some clarity to the earlier work. Both books are enjoyable reads and provide interesting insights into quantum theory.
A fantasy story that begins when an English Lady from the year 1881, finds herself catapulted into the city of Philadelphia in modern times. How did she get there? She has no idea how so with the aid of a young man who found her, as well as a spunky homeless woman, she sets out to solve this mystery. A very absorbing story that the author weaves with skill. She lets the reader feel the woman's distress and then her determination. A woman who travels in time! the possibility is fascinating!!
With so many books available via kindle I am able to pick and choose ...so if a book doesn’t get my attention in the first few chapters, I don’t waste my time. This book passed the test as did the first, and was hard to put down....thank you for two good reads...have downloaded the third and looking forward to it. 😊
Isabella Astley comes from one of the oldest families in England. Her mother is trying to marry her off to an old man with money. They have an argument outside the Opera house and it throws her from 1881 to today. It seems that a lady from the modern era has changed places with her. Liam has rescued her but does not know about the exchange. Should she stay or should she go back?
This is a truly delightful second book in this trilogy. I could not have enjoyed it more. In the first book, a young woman is transported back to 1881. In this one, a different young woman is transported from 1881 into the future. Both are such enjoyable books and I am delighted to have found this writer!
One of the best time travel romances I’ve ever read! A new notion on how and why it happened. Loved that it also gave our heroine the opportunity to stay or return with all the necessary reliefs about what she had left behind. And into all the mix, a wonderful group of new friends that become family. Loved it!!
This is the second very entertaining book I have read by this author and I must say I was enchanted with how she blended people from very different backgrounds into a chosen family. Enjoy 👍💜
Once again Denise Daye takes us on a journey with her time travel tale. Lady Isabella Astley is the woman who comes to the twenty first century at the same time Emma Washington was sent back to 1881 London from book one. While trying to find a way back to her brother, George, Isabella meets some interesting friends. The intrigue and suspense will keep you fascinated with the story of the Astley Family.
Books 1 and 2 are opposites Emma Washington went to 1881 London and Isabella went to 21st century Philadelphia . Delightful characters and easy reading .
This is second in a series, it can be read alone but it is fascinating how Ms Daye tied the stories together to provide a logical reason how this magic came to be answers for two unhappy women.
My favorite books are about time travel. Author Denise Daye has done a wonderful job of not going to the past but to the future, of course the lady had a chance to go back but love won,
Definitely a good read from beginning to end. Easy to follow and easy to like the characters. I liked the ending. Just enough surprises to keep it interesting.
I love how the twist & turns that connect people throughout this series with new breakthroughs during the time travel years that bond many generations forming connections in the following second & third episode!
Loved the storyline & how it continued from her first book. Enjoyed every minute of reading the time travel & romance with the man she traveled in time for love.
