Not as good as the other collections that further the series. These are all little short stories that take place during the course of the show. They are often more goofy and feel like they are written for a younger audience.

Received a review copy from Dark Horse and Edelweiss. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.

Domestic GAANG is my favorite! I loved the stories so much! Many of them deserved to have their own places in the cartoon. I'm still glad we got to see them like this though. Such a feast. I definitely recommend this for people who are not ready to leave Team Avatar behind.

This book is very different than the other Avatar comic books. This is full of short comics that take place throughout the series and after the series. They are all fun little one shots that are enjoyable to read, but ultimately do not add anything new to the Avatar universe.

It is full of stories that are written and drawn by a ton of different creative teams. With so many different voices, there is also varying degrees of quality for each story. I do not think that any of them were bad, but there were only a few that I would say were amazing.

I think that the other Avatar comics are fully formed stories within the Avatar universe that could also stand on their own. These short comics, however, only work as a supplement to the cartoon series. Any Avatar fan would enjoy reading these stories quite a bit, but I would not recommend the book to a casual Avatar viewer.

I love ATLA for those that don’t know. And my library has all of these graphic novels on hoopla, and I just figured out there’s a way to read them very easy on your phone like panel by panel, so y’all about to see me blow through a bunch of these.

I love the entire gang and this was so cute.

Generally I like my comics the way I like my women - not only sweet and pretty but with a bit more content in them. Ok, maybe this metaphor ran away from me a bit. The problem is that while these snippets are all nice and it's fun to be again in Avatar-verse, the majority of the comics here are so short that they barely have any plot of character development. Also the art style varies considerably from one story to another, with some being on par with the series and others being... less so. Still, some were really good, especially the ones with Sokka being clever, Toph being awesome (thank you, creators, for confirming my pet theory that Toph could take the entire Gaang without breakign sweat) and Azula being, well, Azula.

What a bunch of fun stories!! There's not a lot of stakes in these at all, and the stories themselves vary from excellent to boring and lacking. My personal favourite in the collection is Toph and the Boulder, simply for this beautiful friendship (one of the best dynamics too, a mon avis) but also for the croc-cat. I forget the actual name of the creature itself but it was adorable. Also the artstyle for this particular comic was perfect.
The art in all of the comics also varies in quality, there were a couple that looked a bit like a child had drawn them (which may have been on purpose but it wasn't at all to my taste, and looked messy in a way that wasn't appealing) and others, like the Toph and Boulder artstyle, were just perfect.
Basically, if you're looking for extra cute stories based during the series, this is definitely the place to find them.

4.5 rounded up - I love that these all took place during the original series, but a few of the short stories weren't my favorite.

This hefty anthology of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" comics was a real treat to read. Lots of different stories set during and after the TV series, with a variety of writing and art styles. It's made me want to seek out more comics to supplement the original series and novels.

This endearing collection of short stories from the world of Avatar is a wonderful addition to the (always excellent) releases of Avatar books of late. For fans of the show, this is like a comic version of 'Tales from Ba Sing Se'. Each story stands on its own and while it adds interesting detail to the overall plot, it usually just provides nice back stories and character development.

In total, there are over 40 stories in the book from various authors and artists. As always with such a set, not all stories are equal. Luckily there are no really bad ones, but a few are fairly forgettable. Most are just plain fun, and a few are pure gold. Note than even in these there is no in-depth insight or great drama - this is a collection of comedies.

The two stories I liked the best are "It's Only Natural" and "Private Fire". In the first, Sokka tries to teach Bosco (Earth King's pet bear-bear) how to be a real bear. In "Private Fire" Sokka joins the fire nation army in order to learn about them. "It's Only Natural" is short and funny, whereas "Private Fire" has a bit of depth in it with the message that while they fight the fire nation, most of the population itself is just normal people.

The art mostly follows that of the animated series, which I particularly like. There are few stories where the art is more 'artsy' but I am not a big fan of comic adaptations where the style differs greatly from the original.

Each story is fairly short as one can expect, and this works great if you only have a bit of time every now and then. You also do not need to remember the details of the original series to any length (though if you do, you'll enjoy some stories a bit more), and probably will be fine even if you never saw all the episodes. As such, this works great for both long time and hardcore fans, as well as people wandering back into Avatar after a long while. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

3,5/5

Como esse quadrinho junta duas obras que antes eram separadas (Uma sendo The Lost Adventures e a outra o Team Avatar Tales), vou falar de cada uma individualmente.

The Lost Adventures
Vale demais a lida desse!

Team Avatar Tales
The Promise, The Search, The Rift, etc.)

This was a bit hit or miss, but Book Four had so many excellent and delightful hits, I had to round up. This was a departure from the “official” tie-ins and expansions on the world of the show — these were very brief interludes in the chronology of the animated series, sometimes only two or three pages long. Some of them felt very true to the story and style of the show, while others were clearly more experimental — chibi-style Team Avatar comes to mind!

I was pleased to see familiar artists and writers, like Gene Luen Yang, Faith Erin Hicks, Gurihiru and others, but also get to read pieces by artists I hadn’t heard of before. I was drawn to a few comics that kept the artist’s unique style intact while also capturing the particular feel of this world and characters. Some of the art didn’t work for me at ALL, but I guess that’s part of the aim of this book: to showcase lots of different takes on the ATLA universe.

Standouts for me were in all Book Four:

“The Substitute” by Dave Scheidt and Little Corvus
“Shells” by Gene Luen Yang and Faith Erin Hicks,
“Sokka’s Poem” by Ron Koeerge and Gene Luen Yang
“Toph and the Boulder” by Sara Goetter (I think this was the highlight of the book for me overall! Please give a graphic novel of these two dopes immediately)
“Origami” by Kiku Hughes
“The Scarecrow” by Dave Scheidt and Coni Yovaniniz.

I think existing Avatar fans will find something to like here, though there isn’t a ton of expansion of the existing universe, if that’s what you’re seeking, so I can see why some readers might feel a bit let down. Despite this being a series explicitly made for kids, this volume felt more squarely kid-focused than any of the other comic companions. I’m actually a tiny bit shocked that there wasn’t a whole comic dedicated to Cabbage Man shenanigans? But after some dramatic reads in this universe, it was kind of nice to have a low-stakes laugh!

The Stories I Liked
• Water War
• Don’t Blow It
• Relics
• Lessons
• Sokka the Avatar
• Divided We Fall
• Going Home Again
• The Bridge
• Private Fire
• Gym Time

The Stories I Didn’t Care For
• Fruit Stand Freestyle
• Night Animals
• Ember Island Arcade
• No Benders Allowed (I get tired of the bender/non-bender confrontation)
• New Recruits (what on earth do these other types of “bending” fall into?)
• Rebound (didn’t we get this whole story in either the TV show or one of the graphic novels?)

Stories Overall - Good
Character consistencies - Good
Plot - Believable and light hearted. Fun to read.

There are various cartoon style in he mix. Some are exact with the show's which is great. Some deviated and have their own style which is nice and at one point, adorable.

A couple were downright distort which gave a dip in the reading experience. (This cost a star in the rating)

I've craving for more Avatar Content and this was great. I really liked and enjoyed the stories it's like reading the "Deleted Scenes"

very cute little comics / short stories. i don’t love short stories, so it was hard to stay super invested. I’m not sure i’ll remember many of them because they were so well aligned with the characters. i was kind of hoping for continuing information about the story, but I guess that’s what the others are for. other than that, they were good. I’d recommend reading these right after you finish watching the show to get a little bonus avatar love.

Loved these little standalone ATLA comics from a variety of artists and creators. I loved that the majority of the little stories take place within the timeframe of the show. They're super goofy and fun. Also some of these, the humour and voices of the characters were so spot on that I could totally see it fitting within the episodes themselves. It was very fun spending my Saturday morning back with Aang and the gang!

I wanted to do a re-read of all the comics while I'm doing my show re-watch and I think I skimmed this one last time. Some sections are better than others but I just love seeing the little slice of life moments from everyone.
