I am Chris Ferrie, father of four and happy husband. My day job is academic research where I follow my curiosity through the word of quantum physics. My passion for communicating science has led from the most esoteric topics of mathematical physics to more recently writing children’s books.
I like most of the books that this author puts out. The illustrations and explanations are usually very well done.
However unlike some of the other word introduction books in the series I think this is too high concept for a younger toddler, and it wasn’t as fun to read as some of the other books. This might be better for someone who is really math obsessed or an older child
3/1/2024 - Read with Dada. It’s good to learn new words, but I think this was pretty advanced for a toddler. Even Momma and Dada hadn’t heard of some of the words and they both took Calculus.
Not sure why anyone would buy this book. Are babies and toddlers supposed to hear these words spoken and learn something about them? Is it published in board book form so they chew on it? I saw the book was available in my local library and thought it might be good for the 3 and 6 year old I read to. When we opened the book, yeah there were a lot of Math words on each page with cutesy drawings, but no real explanations of what the words mean. Had it been presented as a small book for 8 to 12 year olds, with a bit of explanation, well then it might have been worth something. As it is it's not even good fire starter since the cover is plasticized.
