Minos, the third work in the Corey Logan Trilogy. The title derives from the mythical king of Crete who every lunar year condemns seven Athenian youths and seven maidens to be eaten by the ferocious Minotaur. Minos begins at the Olympic Academy, where Billy's friend Sara has just carved a magic circle in the hardwood bathroom floor with an ancient double-edged dagger. She twirls inside her circle calling on the Oracle of Apollo to help her find a modern-day Theseus, the reincarnation of Athens' “hero of all heroes” who slew the Minotaur. Lost in her magical dance, she knocks over a candle, sets fire to the curtains, and is suspended from school. She is sent to Abe for treatment.Abe discovers that Sara has patched together an entire mythological universe and language with which she tries to make him see that lives are at stake. It is not easy to convince the authorities. But Corey knows that young people are indeed being murdered, and soon Sara's dire warnings begin to make sense. But who is the modern-day descendant of Minos? The key is inside Sara's head.

This was a "started-then-ditched" book #3 in an otherwise exceptional crime fiction trilogy. Overwhelming dependence on connections with Greek mythology distracted from the story IMHO.
Brilliant final installment in the immensely pleasing Corey Logan trilogy. Burt Weissbourd is a writer of great talent, who plots with care and leaves no stone unturned for the reader. Minos is filled with action and intrigue, psychological depth and horrifying realities...even if they're mythological. A definite "page-turner" and a must read.
Minos: A Corey Logan Thriller by Burt Weissbourd is a frightening and gripping narrative that is sure to engage and mesmerize the reader.
The story surrounds a young teenage girl by the name of Sarah who has conjured up a complete parallel universe that is based in Greek mythology. The intriguing and added dimension to this story line is that Sarah shares this alternate universe with a dark and hidden secret.
After engaging in a satanic ritual, Sarah inadvertently starts a fire which causes her expulsion from the school that she is attending. In order to return to normal and attend classes, there needs to be an intervention conducted in her life. This intervention and therapy is administered by a therapist by the name of Abe Stein.
The task, which seems insurmountable, is to somehow make sense of her inner secret life and bring some sort of normalcy to her every day world.
And so together, this therapist and young teenage girl embark upon a journey of discovery to uncover the terrible secret lurking in the life of Sarah.
The background and title of this book is grounded in the mythical King of Crete and the Minotaur who is a half man and half bull creature embedded deep in Greek mythology. As the mythological story unfolds, every lunar year there needs to be a sacrifice of seven young male and female Athenians who are given over to the Minotaur and subsequently devoured by this hideous creature.
Added to the mix of the mythology is the reality that young people indeed are being murdered in Sarah's community. Is there a connection with Sarah and her story. Is the killing being done by a present day descendent of this monster and what is the secret that Sarah has hidden within her that could hold the key to unlocking the mysterious deaths?
Minos: A Corey Logan Thriller by Burt Weissbourd will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. It is a well-written, exciting and fictional adventurous read into the dark recesses of a young woman's being and her darkness that may be spilling over into her physical world. The ramifications may include mystery and murder.
Minos by Burt Weissbourd is the third installment of the Corey Logan Trilogy and it did not disappoint! This one was probably the scariest of the three for me, simply because I find witchcraft slightly (okay...extremely) terrifying. There is a lot of witchcraft and a lot of Greek mythology in this book so I did really have to pay attention to the details to keep the storyline straight. That being said, I really could not put this one down! I think I read it in 4 hours and it held me captive the entire time! This is the absolute perfect trilogy to jump right in on a cold day where all you want to do is curl up with a good book. Book 3 had more twists and turns then the first 2 combined. The kind of book that makes you think “who could come up with a crazy story like that” hoping for more!
