This is book two in the Were-Weapon Saga and follows the main character, investigative journalist Lara Tucker, who is getting over the deaths of Steph Guzman who was the corrupt mayor of Perry and her uncle. The story that she wrote brought the corruption to the masses and made her very well known in town. Now that the story is over and the hue and cry about The Big Bad Wolf, aka Jon Hawkins slows down, she tries to start living what she thinks is a normal life. She goes to the gym, but only to box and have personal trainer Alec give her self-defence lessons. Another gym goer is Jeff and he eventually asks her out. He is a safe bet, mild mannered PE teacher, but there is no real spark! It brings back memories and dreams of Jon.

Then Jon returns. He is a wanted man, for the people he has killed as he tracked the evil done to him and is still trying to get his own revenge. He won’t leave now, but he pushes Lara away, whilst still watching over her, to protect her from those who may want to hurt him, by getting to her. She is his weak point! The Shadow Agency changed him into a were-weapon with Bloodshade and he has been told there is a cure called Nightshade, but whether he can trust those that killed him to make him into a weapon, is not clear. They killed his whole unit, to change them into the government’s own weapons. Not all of them survived and their blood in on their hands. Jon needs to find more information on the only other name he has, of someone involved with Nightshade, Sonya Crawford. He contacts Lara’s former boyfriend Robbie to get more information, as he is a super whiz at computers and hacking.

The new mayoral election looming, after the death of Guzman, brings about an interview for Lara with one of the new contenders, former marine and son of a congressman, Benjamin Beck. It turns out he was in the same unit as Jon and he is also one of these weapons. If he becomes mayor, then the city will be in danger. Before she can look into him further, Jon is targeted and she is his weak link, so she is taken to lure him in! Jon thought he was protecting her by staying away, but she ends up in even more trouble and her self-defence lessons are no use as she is frozen. Will Jon manage to rescue her and will they ever get together, or will he need to stay away from her forever? Lara needs to make a choice about what she wants from her life and then fight for it. Jon will be hard to convince and they still need to find out who is ultimately behind the were-weapon programme.

A great read, that leads nicely onto another book in the series. I hadn’t managed to catch the first book in this series, before reading this one, but it wasn’t really necessary. You can work out what has happened and who the main characters of the storyline are quite easily. A different look at the werewolf shifter type storyline, with Jon and his team all declared dead in a roadside bombing, but secretly changed into weapons, to work for the government! I’ve read one of the author’s other series and enjoyed that, so looked forward to reading this one and many more. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Just like in the first book, I like the storyline of the book. There is a lot of action going on. I disliked the main character, but loved the secondary characters.

In my opinion, Lara is a whiny, immature, self-centered, self-absorbed brat who does not care about the people's thoughts and feelings of those who care for her. She is supposed to be a smart investigative journalist, but she is constantly doing stuff that puts herself in danger in spite of the counseling she gets not to do it beforehand. The whole book is from her point of view. She ruminates constantly about her feelings, etc. She is trying to be normal, yet is hung up on Jon when he is a known killer.

I really liked her ex-boyfriend, Robbie. He is basically everything you would want in a boyfriend, smart, rich, totally in love with Lara and willing to do anything for her. In this book, he has moved on to a new girlfriend, Gwen who seems like she should be the main character as she is much more likable than Lara. I think she seems to be smarter too.

I thought Jon was a great character. He has a lot going on with the secret experiment thing going on. He is mysterious and has with plenty of flaws to make him human. I thought Jon was a better character than Lara in this story as well as the first book. I would have preferred both books be from his point of view rather than Lara's point of view.

I think that this book is better than the first one, but there is still too much interdialog going on for my tastes.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

The corrupt mayor and her uncle are gone and Lara has gotten her job back. Jon has disappeared back into the shadows and the hunt for those responsible for turning him into a werewolf weapon and murderer. Though her feelings for Jon are still as intense as ever Lara is trying to get her life into some sort of normalcy. She joins a gym takes up boxing and self defense, changes her approach to journalism somewhat and even tries dating a regular guy. But after all she’s been through can there ever really be normal? When Jon comes charging back into her life she jumps right back into danger without hesitation. Normal is overrated.
Jon and Lara are link they can try and deny it all they want but it is clear to everyone. She is his weakness and he’s hers. There is still corruption and shady dealings going on in Perry and Lara is still trying to find who killed her uncle. Standing by my opinion that a book written through Jin’s pov would be a better fit, but the action and the twists are still exciting. The cliffhanger ending is in a word shocking! Great set up for the last installment. Excited to see how everything wraps up.

Our heroine is trying to get back to a normal life, but when our hero shows up again asking for her help, she might just have to redefine normal.

This is book two of the series. It works pretty well as a standalone, but you will be missing out on some of the backstory. Might be better to start at the beginning.

This is the start of an urban fantasy series featuring werewolves, murders and lots of shady dealings. The story is well written and easy to read. The story and the setting are well detailed and very intriguing. The characters are well developed and have distinct personalities, which is all good. Unfortunately for me, our heroine seems to be somewhat dense and doesn't learn or listen, so she definitely falls short of my ideal. That aside, the story was enjoyable and I do want to know what comes next.

Recommended.

More lies and deception are revealed. Lara hasn’t seen Jon for months and is trying to get her life back to normal, going on a date with someone she met at the gym. But how normal can her life be when she is in love with a government experiment, a were-weapon, she hasn’t seen him in months, and she knows there is still a lot of corruption in the city. But when Jon comes back, she is a target again. Can she ever be safe? Can she and Jon ever have a life together, and does he even want that? The cliffhanger at the end was very very unexpected. Will be interesting to see what happens in the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

The corrupt mayor may be gone now, but that was only the tip of the iceberg in regards to the secrets the city of Perry hides. For me this book was a slower build than the previous one. Even though I was already invested in finding out what would happen next, this story took its time getting there, and there were a few romantic detours along the way. I found myself occasionally frustrated with Lara when she didn’t pick up on the clues that I did. But that ending! In no way was I prepared for that revelation and now I’m dying to get my hands on the next book.

I was excited to read Nightshade after reading book one, Bloodshade and I was not disappointed.
I was gripped again from beginning to end and believe this to be a great gritty series which is well written and the chemistry between the characters is awesome, filled with action, mystery, secrets, betrayal, danger, corruption, turmoil and a little romantic suspense, not to mention the many twists and turns, this book and the series has it all. I would highly recommend this fantastic book and series to anyone who likes Urban Fantasy or similar.

The Big, Bad Wolf gets the blame for a lot that is more tangled with big bad politicians who have much better PR teams - and they are great at blaming their bad deeds on others.

Jon finally facing aspects of the feelings he has for Lara, also forces both of them to deal with individual implications.

Unexpected talents and backstory emerge for more than one key player and more than one hidden mover.

Betrayals run deep- as to conflicted loyalties

What happens after you uncover love, loss and betrayal and romance?

Intense drama, action and steamy romance

Lara Tucker hasn’t seen Jon in months. She is slowly getting back to a normal existence, joining a gym, taking self-defense classes, dating a teacher, and improving her articles. And then Jon Hawkins comes back, needing her help, and trouble finds her again. Will he protect her now? Does he even want her? What will this mean for her life? Can Nightshade be the answer for him?

The excitement builds again as Jon comes back and things change again. Good story line and memorable characters make it work! Grab your copy and get ready for the next book to continue the adventure!

Lara is trying to get on with a normal life now that Jon appears to have gone - self defence classes, her job - and even a date with Jeff. But then, Jon comes back, and with him, danger for both of them. Will he be able to keep her safe? Will he even admit that he has feelings for her? Will she ever have a normal life again - or will she find happiness in the most unlikely of places? Cant wait for the next book!

This is book 2 to the Nightshade series I’ve enjoyed this series so far but Lara got on my nerves a bit she was supposed to be a smart reporter but she kept getting into serious trouble especially when Jon comes back, he hasn’t seen Lara in months but he needs her help he is looking for a woman that can help him with his cure. Lara has a new boyfriend and she’s trying to finally get her life back together but with Jon back will things blow up again?. I enjoyed this story but it ends on a cliffhanger but I do recommend this book.

Lara is trying to live her life as normal as can be by working, forcing herself to go out, taking self defense classes and dating. It's been months since she last saw Jon but he comes back in her life injured and needing her help again. That's when trouble finds her again.

Nightshade was another great read for me and i can't wait to see what will happen next. That cliffhanger i didn't see it coming!!

And here Lara thought since her enemy was defeated her life would go back to normal. She did try at the beginning of the book but then Jon shows up and the crazy starts again and she gets sucked into helping Jon again. There was action, danger, suspense, corrupt officials, and secrets to be revealed as Lara tries to survive it all again as she faces her feeling for Jon. I was entertained throughout the story. Cannot wait to see what happens next.

Lara and Jon are back in book two of The Were Weapon Saga. They haven't seen each other in months but when Jon shows up injured and needing help Lara's life goes on hold. Although the story started out a bit slow once it got going it was an intense, action packed read. An intriguing storyline filled with mystery, danger, secrets, lies and an ending left me wanting book three asap. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

The story goes on a thousand and we have more questions than answers. Now some problems being solved, it seems that this just happened to have many ahead. Lara and Jon looks like are close, but other characters appeared to bring more emotion and confusion to book. :)
