Ghost U #1

Ghosted by You

Rate this book
Miller College's Parapsychology Department has a student-run ghost hunting group that's all the rage on basic cable. The third season is about to begin filming, and the producers want to up the ante. The three macho, pseudoscience brosephs - Quinn, Tyler and Brent - are about to be joined by a very female psychic, Emma Ray.

The team is instantly resentful of her presence on their show, and lead investigator Quinn has made it clear that he doesn't believe in psychics. They're going to give Emma the hardest of hard times until they can expose her as a phony.

They're going to learn that Emma is the real deal, and that it's not always wise to bully a psychic when you don't know how many ghosts are in her posse...or exactly what you’ll be facing in the next haunted house.

"Ghosted by You" is a medium-burn Reverse Harem paranormal ghost-hunting adventure. Not suitable for readers under 18 years of age.

I wanted to like it because it's a ghost reverse harem and I love the genre. BUT. I'm not gonna say anything, just put a quote that ONE OF THE (asshole) HEROES says:

"Don' you dare" Tyler glared at his two companions in turn. "This is the era of Me Too, and that would be evidence. No. Way." Brent chuckled.
(two of the heroes talking)

"Don't worry about her," Avila said. "We'll make sure she gives you what you need"
...
Brent (one of the heroes) piped up. "Blow jobs?" (talking about the heroine)

"I've seen more fabric on a washcloth. What the hell?
Talia grinned. "Come on. It'll be fun. You're a pretty girl, with a great body - the boys in the cast will be impressed with you when they see you in these dresses. Besides, you wore less when you were modeling." (female cast member to heroine)

"I mean, you were hired 90% for your looks and 10% for your gift, and we're gonna manage that 10% anyway." (female cast member to heroine)

I could write more quotes but I have to type them so I'm gonna stop here.

The heroes are disgusting. The producer is disgusting. The director of the university or whatever is disgusting. Everyone is disgusting. I wanted to say that the heroine isn't but The way all the characters minus the heroine talk about women is disgusting. Some even laugh at those comments.

And why would someone need to enroll in a university to be in a paranormal tv show? It doesn't make sense. There were some things apart from this that didn't make sense.

Interesting plot but wasn’t a fan of the characters

I thought the premise of the book was interesting but I couldn’t get behind the characters. Tyler was the only male lead I liked, the other two were sexist douchebags and the producers were awful people.

I’m gonna have to go with 2.5 stars...and I haven’t even finished it yet. The weird thing is, for a romance novel the most interesting thing so far (over halfway through the book) is the ghost. I’m considering finishing it just for that alone.

The wording of this novel is very odd. Five dollar words are used in places that don’t need it, and it makes it sound like the author is trying very hard to make her writing sound good...if that makes sense. Also, the characters are described as “in their late teens” early on in the book (which threw me for a loop because I hate books about teenagers) but then you find out Emma is like 22....confusing. Also, other than Quinn being the angry one I can’t get a read on any of the other guys at all and their sudden overwhelming attraction for Emma is weird and awkward. Also, there are a few editing errors like misused words.

That all being said, I think the issues with this book could be fixed with a simple rewrite to add in more content. Give each guy their own chapters, let people get to know the characters. The ghost part is cool, but I’m not sure if the spirit guides really add anything to it....the haunted house is the real star of the show up till now.

So, as of now, it’s safe to say I’m not going to be able to finish this (short) book....the ghost story intrigues me but the characters are so shallow and one dimensional and the romantic tension is so forced I just can’t do it. It sucks because this has definite potential and it does seem like the author worked really hard on it...but it feels like it’s been overworked.

I feel like the author struggled to write this book and agonized over it and worked her ass off writing it until it wasn’t fun anymore and then she published, and that translates into the reading. Sometimes you just have to relax and tell the story that you enjoy. I would bet you a dollar that this author enjoyed writing the ghosts and the ghost story more than she liked writing anything else and it shows because the spirits and the horror elements are the best parts of the book.

Ghost hunting RH 🖤

I seriously had no idea how much I need a paranormal ghost hunting RH until Tiegan released this deliciousness!!! Now, I need more! Tiegan has done an incredible job creating this storyline and crafting the characters. The explanations of the paranormal hunting world was delivered in a way that was easy to understand for people like me who isn’t incredibly familiar with all the terminology and concepts. The ghostly storyline was spooky enough to give me goosebumps in a couple of scenes too which I appreciated. I rarely read books that causes that type of reaction in me but I would love to read more like it.

I love Emma as the female lead. Her gift as a psychic was interesting to read especially during her first hunt with her new team. Her mannerisms and demeanor had just enough snark and bite to put the men in her life in their place while still endearing them to her. Now this may be an unpopular opinion buttttt can we please add the professor to the mix?!?! I love a bit of an age gap and it sounds like Montcalm is a silver fox 🤤

The description of the haunting during Emma’s walkthrough, the subsequent exorcism, and the epilogue were all bone chilling but illustrated through words flawlessly. I could easily imagine what was happening like a movie in my mind. The details that Tiegan had put into those scenes, like the exorcism, showed that she has done her research on the topic to make it more realistic and believable for the reader.

I am beyond excited to read the next book in this series and whatever other ghostly goodness she throws at me. Serious book hang over here!!!

Miller College's Parapsychology Department is the home of an investigative television show known as "Ghost U." The show centers around a group of university students from the school who research paranormal activity and seek to prove the existence of real ghosts, helping out the residents of potentially haunted locations in the process of solving whatever mystery they are facing.

This time around, the network that supports the show has decided to add a new dynamic to the cast, having hired a female psychic to assist the 3 male investigators, hoping to shake things up and add some new excitement to the show. But at least one of the cast members hates the idea of psychics, believing them all to be fakes who hurt others more than they ever help anyone. Can this new group find a way to actually manage to work successfully together?

I really enjoyed this story. It had a number of interesting twists that added to the excitement within the book. I do need to warn readers that this is a reverse harem story, containing some rather detailed sexual encounters. It was all very well written, but it does mean that this book is not appropriate for younger readers.

The story is well put together and did keep me interested throughout. Character conflicts that developed were well explained and made perfect sense in relation to the rest of the story.

All in all, I was glad to have read this book, and the ending teaser for the sequel has me looking forward to the next book in the series. If you enjoy reverse harem stories, or tales that have a hint of a darker twist to them at times, I think you would enjoy this one.

This is more of a three and a half star rating but I'm being kind and giving it four stars.

The story had its ups and downs, for one the ghost aspect and even the ghost hunting aspect were really intriguing and almost frightening in some parts. I really enjoyed the psychic, Emma, and her role as the newbie of the group. I also enjoyed her Spirit guides Craig in particular is a big favorite of mine.

However what I didn't enjoy so much about this book was the simplicity of its relationships. Everything seemed to escalate incredibly fast sexually but not so much actual friendship or even just basic relationship. Which overall game of this book a weird rushed but not quite finished feel. I understand it's a reverse harem which means it has to be a little fast because the main character is falling from multiple characters at once. But I think it loses a piece of itself when it's rushed so quickly sexually without any feeling given towards its characters or even the other males in the reverse harem. Feels more like strangers than it does relationships.

Overall the story was a good book to pass time reading I'm not sure if I'll read the second one when it comes out but I did enjoy this one for what it was which is a simple basic read with lots of spooky details. It's good Halloween book if nothing else.

Trigger warnings:
Death/violence
Performed exorcism
Animal sacrifice

I read this in a day, practically a single sitting. I paused to grab food and pee that’s it. It had me going through all the emotions. The characters (specifically the men) are so misogynistic at the start I almost rage quit, but the sad reality of the world is that especially in TV/Movies that mentality is rife.

The ‘harem 3’ do redeem themselves, but it takes a bit. I really liked that Emma (FMC) didn’t give them a free pass or simper about their dislike.

The professor… I’m still on the fence with him, we’ll see how book 2 goes.

Definitely more plot/story than romance, the one smut scene is questionable consent for all involved. It wasn’t the most comfortable reading for that reason, but the reactions/realisations and overall handling of it after the fact was good.

It’s been a while since a book gripped me and made me go on an emotional journey, so for that I have to say 5 stars.

This is the something different i didn't realise i needed until i read it!
Really good storey line with clear characters whom you instantly can picture and understand each more as the book progresses.
Set in a college the 3 main guys are part of a Ghost hunting reality TV show which has hunk appeal but is down on ratings and so they add a pretty female medium to the team. This initially dosn't go down well as none of the guys think mediums are genuine just fraudsters ripping off people who have lost loved ones.
Well written with a couple of things you didn't see coming but my only downside is that there are a lot of things you could see coming. I didn't deduct a star though as i really enjoyed the book.
As the series develops i would like to see more intrigue and suspense, That said i cant wait to see what happens next as the storey has me hooked.

Alrighty y’all let’s get down to business. First and foremost I’d like to yell at every friend that didn’t warn me not to read this at night. Tiegan’s writing certainly paints a very vivid picture and I did not want to go to bed afterwards for fear of being attacked by a demonic being. The last page of the book... *shivers* Sure, laugh it up while you still can, I’ll be the one laughing when you pee your pants because you ignored my warning! Haha!

I honestly didn’t realize how much I needed a palate cleanser until I read Ghosted by You. I’ve been going through a lot of hot and heavy books lately so the slower pace with only one sex scene was really nice! It also made the action in the book the main focus instead of the romance for over half of the book which was pretty awesome! I’d highly recommend adding this to your TBR!!

4 ⭐️’s- great book!!

this book was really good and i honestly really enjoyed it. it had a very interesting plot/ storyline, and wasn’t at all what I expected.

even though the H’s didn’t believe in psychics and what the h stood for, they weren’t abusive or cruel. Quinn could be a bit of an ass, but he wasn’t a bully or overly disrespectful. he had his own opinion and stood by it. this book was a great example of how a H can go through some crappy stuff and be a jerk because of it, but not so bad it’s too gross to read.

the author did a really good job with the writing, plot, and character development. i would definitely read more from this author and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Should have a trigger warning...ok spoilers ahead. This book has a scene where a demon influences and forces 3 of the characters into engaging in a sexual they would not have constented to normally. It was a mfm dvp scene and by the end of the book the whole aspect of what was basicaly assult was never really addressed. They said i didn't feel in control or i would never do that usually, etc... but one of the guys tried to stop and leave and he was forced to stay and participate. No one addressed any of the trama she or they be feeling after that.

Spooky

Reading Ghosted By You, I expected a cheesy plot with juvenile revenge seeking tossed throughout. Oh, boy, was I surprised. Tiegan Clyne is an amazing author! In Ghosted By You, Emma, a psychic medium becomes the newest member of Ghost U, a famous ghost show. Clyne writes of ghosts, demons, anger, fear, murder, and more. I cant wait to read Volume One. This was such a good read, but quite spooky. Overall, I will be recommending this one!!!

Spooky

This book was spookier and darker then I had expected. There is more going on then just the ghost hunting. There are darker forces including demons. The guys are not sure about her at first and feel she is cutting into their own system and that she is a fraud. They begin to believe her but at great costs. Some sexual tension with 4 guys to be explored more. Told from 3rd POV so includes all of the main characters. Definitely more going on then just the ghost hunting.

Expect the unexpected!

I had read a RH book with a similar ghost hunting plot and so had expected more of the same. I was so wrong!

Ghosted By You is so much more than a ghost-hunters-meet-psychic-and-romance-ensues kind of book. It is a really well written and thought out book that seduces you slowly.

I’m super excited to read more.

OMG! This book was so good!!!

So I totally, 100% loved this book. I adored the characters and their interactions. I liked the story line - it was interesting and had some cool twists. It was cute sometimes, funny, dramatic and creepy. As i sat reading it in bed, in the dark I managed to scare myself. Great job to the author and can't wait to read some more!

A quick and different read!

I've seen a lot of ghost shows but never read a book about one til now. It was very enjoyable, characters could use a little more depth. But I think we'll get there in the second book. If you're looking for a little bit of spooky and naked people this is great!

Paranormal Haunting

Emma is a medium. She is hired to be part of a team that investigates ghosts. Problem is her team thinks she is a fake. Strange things happen when they team up. I liked this book. You will have to read it to discover; if Emma is a fake, and if ghosts among other things exists.

A mindblowing start

I can honestly say that this book was so unexpectedly amazing. The blurb interested me and at no single point was I disappointed in the book. The characters were engaging and the hints into their backstories held my attention. I can honestly say that this is a book that I will read more than once and that I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Too short

This was kind of a weird novella. I didn't know it was so short, so it felt very rushed. This could have easily been extended into a full length novel, and been better written for it. I'll probably read the next one, but I am disappointed we barely got to know the characters before it was over.

Great start to a series!

I'm glad I picked up this book. It was addicting but over too soon. I'm glad there is another book out. Things heat up towards the end of the book. The talk of demons (or non human entities) actually creeped me out. Definitely creepy to read about at night.

I like the heroine and her connection with the professor so I gave book 2 a chance. I thought that the relationships in that were a bit more fulfilling in the sequel. I enjoy reverse harem but there are so many characters it felt like I only got bits and pieces of everyone and their bonds. I would assume that it'll really take the whole series for things to build.

Great start to a series

This was a fantastic book and Emma is instantly likable. I read a lot of series and this book kept me invested the whole time. I couldn’t put it down. I do agree with the other reviewer in their opinion of adding the Prof to the harem. Why choose right!

Good start

There was a lot more ghost stuff than I was expecting here, but it was fun regardless. I was really hoping for more character development, but maybe we'll see some on the next episode. Good start to a different series.

It could have been a great story! I do feel like I was disconnected from the main characters though and some things just made no sense at all. I won’t be reading the second one unfortunately because it just wasn’t interesting enough.
