One big day. One missing groom. One answer. One life-changing event. One life-threatening disaster. Multiple targets.

Conner:
I never pictured myself getting married, but then I met Rocky and knew I found my perfect match. So, why are so many people determined to ruin our happiness? Why can’t we just have some peace and quiet? And why has Rocky disappeared on our wedding day?

Rocky:
I never thought I would get married again, but that was because I never knew what true love really was until Conner. I never had a true partner who was always there for me. And now I can’t wait to be married to him. I can’t wait to start the rest of our lives together. But, just like our entire relationship has had hurdles, why should this event run smoothly for us?

Between sabotage, grabby fans, exes, and an unwanted wedding planner, our wedding is looking more impossible by the minute. However, we’re both determined enough to get down that aisle and say I do. We will be married, and not even a crazed killer will stop us.

I hope.

Hell, are we going to survive this wedding?

Safe is the fifth book in the In Midsummer series by Jessica Frances. While there will be two more books in this series on two of the side characters, this is the last book in Conner and Rocky’s journey. Although I am assured we will get some glimpses of these two in the two future books. This is such a bittersweet moment for me. I have become so attached to these two. While I am excited for them to get their forever happy ending, I just can’t imagine not having Conner and Rocky in my life.

Conner Sherwood and Sheriff Rocky Green are getting married. Conner never thought marriage was in his future. And Rocky never thought he could trust a person enough to fall in love again. But here they are. The love they share, the life they are building with the kids, is everything to them both. In their months together, they have been through so much. Midsummer was supposed to be such a safe little town where nothing ever happens. Well, since Conner arrived, it’s been one thing after another. Now all they need to do is make it to their wedding day.

The town’s mayor, June Fuller, has taken on a new job, wedding planner. And she is going crazy planning Conner and Rocky’s big day. But true to the history of their relationship, things go wrong, many things!

First, I want to say that I think this book is Jessica’s best writing to date! She surprised me so many times in this book. These two have been through so much, both before they met and after. Through everything, their devotion to each other grew stronger. But in this book, I believe they were put through their greatest hurdles of all. I sighed, I swooned, and oh my gosh, I gasped!!! I even shed a tear or two! But most of all, I loved Conner and Rocky. If you enjoy M/M romance with plenty of smiles, suspense and just plain awesomeness, then this series is for you. You need to read them in order. I know my life is better for having Conner and Rocky in it! Thank you so much, Jessica Frances.

I so loved being back in Midsummer with my absolute favorite couple Connor and Rocky!!!

Their love is so pure and it absolutely shines through in the way they deal with everything that the sleepy - not so sleepy town of Midsummer throws at them!

A wedding and another mystery to solve, will they make it to their happily ever after, or will someone try and destroy their future.

Such a sweet, loveable story with some scary, heart-stopping scenes that will keep you glued to your kindle to see how this one plays out.
I cannot recommend this series highly enough... looking forward to reading more from Midsummer!!

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!! Pure perfection.

BITTERSWEET: adjective • both pleasant and painful.

That’s exactly what this book was.

Although, pleasant is really an understatement. It was more like...outstanding, beautiful, fulfilling, fan-fucking-tastic.

The anticipation of this book had me on pins and needles. I needed this story, craved the words, HAD TO have them. Yet I didn’t want them...because that would mean it will end. *sobs* (This is the ‘painful’ part) The struggle is real!

But that didn’t stop me from devouring every single word. I couldn’t help it. This story, these characters... they are a huge part of me. They have taken up residence inside my heart and I’m not letting them leave. I have grown to know them, care for them, and love them. I so wish they were real. And I would move to Midsummer RFN if I could.

Have you figured it out yet?
—> I love this series SO MUCH!!!

Rocky and Conner’s love story continues, and finally concludes, in this book. The passion has only grown stronger. Rocky has become a bit more fierce in his protectiveness of Conner and his family. It’s hot. And it’s sexy AF.

And their love for each other?
Be still my heart.
I didn’t think they could love any harder.
But they can, and they did.

No matter what they endured, no matter the troubles they ran into, they always saw the positive - thankful for having each other. Still appreciating the good things in their lives. Even when the haters of the town tried to keep them apart, their love refused to let that happen.

To have experienced this town, these characters, this love affair that turned into a charming and powerful relationship was beautiful and heartwarming and gave me all the warm fuzzies.

Not only did I fall for Rocky, Conner, River, and Ryder, but the supporting characters as well. They were just as amazing and they stole little pieces of my heart along the way.

As with the other books in this series, Ms. Frances brings mystery to the pages. Intense scenes that will have you biting your nails and gripping your kindle just a bit tighter. She also deliciously pens sizzling scenes that will leave you breathless and tingling in all the right places. And most importantly, we get the conclusion of the epic love story between Rocky & Conner.

I smiled BIG.
My heart grew even more.
I loved HARD.

I’m definitely a little sad and, to be honest, I was emotional as I finished Rocky & Conner’s story.

But YOU GUYS....
My heart is SO. SO. HAPPY.
And full and delighted and content.

It comforts me to know I can always go back and re-read these books when I need a dose of Rocky & Conner goodness in my life.

I’ll end my review with a quote from Conner in Safe.
I believe he said it best:

“It’s strangely hard to say goodbye to everyone at the end of the night. These people who I didn’t even know a year ago have become a part of me. They’re vital to my world, and I love them all so damn much.”

Let me start off with an overall review of the series before I jump into the conclusion:
Now that it's complete, time to download all five books and have a bit of a binge session this weekend. Rocky and Conner's story is filled with all the romantic goodness we want in our HEA's combined with a bit of mystery and suspense for each volume. Conner is the ying to Rocky's yang that neither was looking for. They fit so perfectly together in this opposites-attract love story.
But I think the unsung character of the story makes it all complete - the town of Midsummer. The town is filled with heroes, quirky & endearing characters, and yes - villains. Getting to know this small-town character is what rounds out the storytelling for the entire series.

Safe leaves us with the end of the journey of Rocky and Conner's love story but not the end of Midsummer. Jessica Frances has two more stories to tell and we get to enjoy stories from side characters we have come to love.

What I loved:
- This is the final chapter for Rocky and Conner to make it official. And it's the best possible way to happen.
- Delivered with a bit of mystery and scene tense moments as we expect with this series.
- The epilogue was everything to perfectly round out the story.

Things to consider:
- If you are a reader like me, you need to sometimes make up things in your head
- You need to read the series in order and all the books not skipping.

Overall - READ IT. It's quirky, funny, swoon moments along with suspense. It's a perfect binge to get lost in.

Safe is book 5 in the ‘In Midsummer’ series, Rocky and Conner have come along way in their relationship and they are finally getting their happily ever after; but it wouldn’t be their story if there wasn’t some drama along the way.

Planning their wedding should be fun, but when the mayor has turned it bigger than ben hur they made their own plans. When they encounter a small group of people that don’t believe their marriage should not take place, they feel the betrayal close to home. When the event that is their wedding takes over Conner knows something is wrong can they find Rocky before its too late?

I personally enjoyed this story, it was the last for Rocky & Conner and I really hope that their future holds no more drama because they have been through it! I am really looking forward to Henry and Bryans story!

Our boys are finally married. Whew! That’s not to say it was easy getting there. Connor and Rocky are so sweet together. I love the way the family came together, how Connor quickly became such a great father. Rocky was a great example.
I have to admit that I did not see one of the plot twists coming.
I can picture Midsummer and it’s residents. There are such wonderful characters. This is a great series, I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly.

I've loved this series from the first chapter of book one. It has everything you could want in a MMreviews romance. Mystery(small town cozy), humor, lots of action, good plots, interesting storylines, cute kids, and hot m/m sex. Each book is complete but you do need to read in order. The characters are all amazing you can't help but love each and everyone. I was sad to see the series end but wasn't disappointed in the least. Actually was quite shocked at the twists. I can't wait for Henry's Story! . I highly recommend this series.

Safe, the fifth book in the In Midsummer series, is a delightful addition to this sweet series.

This time around we have a wedding, crazy antics, and more danger. Friendships are tested and relationships are mended, as the fun continues.

And best of all though, is the continued instance by Love that the town is actually a dull place. Couldn't stop laughing at that part.

The writing continues to impress, with a fast paced storyline and plenty of emotion. The twists and turns are ever present, keeping us on our toes. This is the quintessential cozy mystery gay romance series, with charming characters, great storylines, and plenty of heat.

Overall, Safe is a fantastic, delightful read. I love this couple and their continued story. These Jessica Frances books are just wonderful. And now it looks like there's about to be some new couples covered in this series. Can't wait.

I loved how Conner and Rocky's romance concludes in this final book of the series. Their love and passion has grown stronger and stronger, nothing could get between them and their happiness.

This series has all I am looking for in the romance genre and that's why I enjoyed it thoroughly. The great love story, mystery, lots of plot and action, humor, small town drama are just a few things that kept me engaged and entertaining till the end.

An explosive ending

Of course this would not be a Conner and Rocky story set in Midsummer without some explosive revelations before they can get on with their HEA lol. It’s no fun when you read even little spoilers in such a twist filled storyline so I definitely recommend you read the whole series going in blind knowing it’ll be full of shock, humor, steaminess, and of plenty of heartfelt moments ♥️

It's no secret that I'm pretty much obsessed with this series and this is an absolutely wonderful addition! I so love Rocky and Conner and have been waiting for this moment with them since the very first book. This is book 5 in the series and it's time for Rocky and Conner to get married! Jessica Frances has done such a fantastic job creating the Midsummer world, I really feel like I know these people and am a part of that world!

So, in this book Rocky and Conner are thrust into crazy wedding plans as Mayor Fuller takes over turning their wedding day into a spectacle for the town and social media. It's a lot for these guys, especially considering how busy they are raising two kids. This is a whirlwind of a story as they go through this process with some good twists and turns, including some pretty awful people that threaten their big day. (Trying to avoid spoilers here!)

The love that Conner and Rocky have for each other is everything! It is so strong and beautiful and is shown so wonderfully, especially in the tough moments, they love hard and fierce and absolutely nothing is going to come between them. Rocky, Conner along with River and Ryder have created this wonderful family together. It made my heart so freaking happy!

I love the mix of romance and mystery that happens in these books and it is definitely a part of this one as well. There are moments that had me on the edge of my seat, along with some pretty shocking ones, Jessica Frances takes readers for ride even as we're getting the HEA! The way this story comes together - PERFECTION! It actually felt very bittersweet because I have to come to love this group so hard that it's tough to see their journey wrap up. It's an epic love story that has a permanent place in my heart!

4 Stars!

This is book 5 in the In Midsummer series and it needs to be read in order. So, if you haven't read the previous 4 books, turn away now because there are going to be spoilers.

Rocky and Conner are trying to survive Major Fuller planning their wedding, which seems to be getting more out of control every time they turn while dealing with some people trying to spoil what should be one of the happiest days in their lives.

I continue to adore Conner and I've grown to really like Rocky—especially in the last 2 installments—and I was happy to see them get their HEA, especially after the sweet Bonus chapter. They really have come a long way from their first encounter and it was great to see how much they've grown from then, both individually and as a couple.

I have to say I was completely thrown by Tyson (Rocky's BFF) and what he did, though. It was completely out of the blue, as I didn't see any signs of it beforehand. Deputy Douchebag (Randy), yes, of course I was expecting he'd do something, even if again, I didn't imagine the extent of what he was capable of. And, well, the thing with some of the townspeople was unexpected as well, even if considering Midsummer is a fictional town in Arkansas, it's not that difficult to believe not everyone was happy about their Sheriff marrying a man. My main problem with it was that it all got resolved too quickly. It was like okay, this is happening and on the next chapter it barely warranted a paragraph saying how it got resolved. It was underwhelming after all the buildup.

Still, I enjoyed seeing Conner and Rocky, and of course, catching up with Love, Reed, River, and Ryder. Safe was a good ending point for Conner and Rocky's story, although I hope we'll get to see them in Prince's story as well. Recommendable!

I so loved being back in Midsummer with my absolute favourite couple Connor and Rocky!!! Their love is so pure and it absolutely shines through in the way they deal with everything that the sleepy... not so sleepy town of Midsummer throws at them! A wedding and another mystery to solve, will they make it to their happily ever after or will someone try and destroy their future. Such a sweet, loveable story with some scary, heart stopping scenes that will keep you glued to your kindle to see how this one plays out. I cannot recommend this series highly enough... looking forward to reading more from Midsummer!!

Rocky and Connor are passengers on the crazy train to a Midsummer wedding. Feeling like they are just along for the ride has them overwhelmed. The mayor has taken over the asylum and the whole town (haters included) will be there to witness the nuptials. Let the chaos ensue.

Imaginative writing and captivating characters have been a highlight of this series. It also doesn’t hurt that the lead characters have a great, steamy chemistry together. The book(s) have always had family and its center, which for me is very important as a reader. The authors writing is easy to read and the continuing series seems to be fresh with each new book.

The heroes are heroic and the bad guys are particularly bad. I was surprised by a few things in this Midsummer episode. And to think, it all started with a Lemon.

This book picks up where the last one left off so it’s definitely not a standalone.

I was a little bit worried because of the teaser in the synopsis…I thought maybe we were going to have more relationship angst. We didn’t. I actually love what Connor and Rocky do in this story to solidify their relationship (and I was a bit surprised too).

We finally get an answer about Tyson’s bitterness toward Connor; and some resolution with Randy (aka Deputy D!ckhead). I don’t want to reveal information about either of these as they are major spoilers.

I’m a little sad to say goodbye to this couple because I’ve enjoyed spending time with them but with the upcoming books of Henry Prince and Love, maybe we’ll see them again!

This was such a wonderful way to wrap up Conner and Rockys story! Not only did it have the same punch and intensity of all the other mysteries, but also managed to deliver tidy endings for all major characters in one way or another! The emotions expressed were so warranted given what this couple and town jave endured, and i wish i could set up shop their myself and enjoy a meal with all of these great characters. Rocky and Conner have one of the most earned HEA's and it makes my heart flutter with delight because we got to watch them grow as a couple right before our eyes ❤

The saga of Rocky and Conner continued. I have enjoyed the series to this point and really enjoyed this one as well. There were moments of hate, danger, and violence, but the love between these two men made the journey worthwhile. Jessica Frances kept the town alive and interesting throughout the books. There were many secondary characters that I hope find their own HEA. I recommend the entire series and look forward to more from this author.

So the wedding of the century. Maybe. Rocky and Conner have had one hell of a ride. They have been through so much to get to this point.

While their story is a crazy one, they sure love each other enough to enjoy it. Between crazy friends and family and a town that is just as crazy, they still keep it together. Rocky and Conner go through so much chaos I’m amazed they are still a little sane. But it was sweet to see them prove to everyone that no matter what they are a team and nothing is going to stop them.

Holy smokes!

Wow this book has a lot going on! It is quite the emotional roller coaster with the lows of some truths revealed and the highs of true love, family and friendship. The bonus chapter at the end is the highest of the high! I loved Rocky and Connor’s journey and look forward to seeing more of the other characters in the next books.

Who's surprised I finished this book around midnight? Not me.

Who wished it didn't have to crashed over by my supposed studying for my exam (and the resulting guilt for not studying that much at all)? Yes, that's me. (Though I passed the exam so...)

Who is surprised by what happened and who did that bad, bad thing? Not me.

And who feels like writing anything after commenting on the first book and making it to the last (current) book in the series? Yes, me.

Recommend.

Worth reading, 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Aw man, it ended? It had to end? That was a good read, with a HEA, a peek into the future, and a bonus chapter to boot.

Only one thing bothered me a little through the entire series, and that was the derision for Rocky’s ex. As awful as she is, she *did* place her son with her ex husband, didn’t care that Connor was his significant other, paid attention to Ryder’s routine and knew enough to give Rocky pointers on Ryder, and set up the legal paperwork ahead of time. She could have chucked the baby into the foster care system, or adopted him out to strangers. She knew herself better than Rocky’s mother did. Omg. That woman.

A few surprises come up during this book. Read the series from the first book - it’s really one long story with a mystery in each one, but they’re very connected.
