Eighteen months after the death of her husband Zach and their unborn child, Sienna Lewis and her daughter Zara were getting by. Living in a small apartment in the heart of Brisbane, Sienna’s dream was always to return to her country roots. But she couldn’t see it happening as the one wage barely paid rent and kept the two of them fed. At least mother and daughter had a loving, caring relationship and although still grieving, they had their happy moments.

At her job at the hospital, Sienna met Mason King while he was keeping the elderly Max company in his last days. Sienna also developed a fondness for the old man and would sit and chat with him on her breaks. When fate stepped in, Sienna and Zara found themselves heading to Far North Queensland and the property of Whispering Willows, where their nearest neighbour was Mason.

Mason and Sienna found the closeness which had developed in Brisbane continued and strengthened. And Zara thought the world of Mason. But would secrets and lies keep them apart? What would be the outcome for these three who had seen terrible loss and tragedy?

Home Sweet Home by Aussie author Mandy Magro is a rural romance set in Queensland, and although predictable, I enjoyed crusty old Max’s character, Aunt Rosie and Uncle Frank and Sienna’s cousin, Kirra, who had a wise head on young shoulders. Recommended.

With thanks to HarperCollins AU for my ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Seasoned Australian rural romance novelist Mandy Magro gifts her readers with another genuine read told from the heart. Home Sweet Home is a gentle story of love, loss, heartbreak, hope, endurance, compassion and chance possibilities. All set to a classic Aussie rural backdrop, Home Sweet Home considers where true happiness and comfort can be found.

A story of fate and faith, Home Sweet Home follows the emotional life journey of Sienna Lewis. A woman of courage, determination and a fighting spirit, Sienna and her daughter have managed to overcome adversity. Sienna knows life is tough, but she dearly wants to improve her circumstances. Sienna is a special soul, who manages to touch those she comes into contact with. When Sienna bonds with a rather difficult patient at the hospital where she works, she is shocked to receive a helping hand from this unlikely friend. To her complete surprise, Sienna is gifted a property in Far North Queensland. The big move to this country retreat brings Sienna into the arms of a lonely cattleman named Mason from the property next door. But with secrets, reservations and loss dividing these two lost souls, can Mason and Sienna find a way to accept the love they both have to offer one another?

With a soul-deep love for accurately portraying the rural way of life in Australia, author Mandy Magro uses her strong romantic heart to build another highly engaging story brimming with love. With sixteen titles to her name, Mandy Magro is a popular Australian author who has a supportive fan base. Home Sweet Home is title that will appeal to established Mandy Magro fans and those who are enjoy the rural romance genre.

Mandy Magro sure knows how to pull at the heartstrings! Yet again I was overwhelmed by the sadness, tragedy and difficult life circumstances of Magro’s lead cast. It isn’t all doom and gloom, there is a hope for these characters too. I loved how Magro chose to focus this tale on a true Aussie battler, a hard worker and a genuine spirit, who receives a wonderful lifeline. When hospital worker and mother Sienna is gifted a significant rural property in Far North Queensland, it seems like a dream come true. This deserving recipient takes it in her stride and Sienna never feels entitled or selfish. I did warm to Sienna fairly quickly too, which is an indication of the pure spirit of this individual. I was happy to cheer Sienna on as she made her way to acceptance, forgiveness and love. Magro pairs Sienna well with Mason, a true gentleman with his own personal hang-ups and secrets. This couple’s pathway to love is filled with hesitations, past baggage, withheld information, letting go of old hurts and it is also defined by a tragic final turn of events. However, in true Mandy Magro style, there are plenty of hot hookups and romantic interludes to enjoy.

Mandy Magro clearly takes great enjoyment in writing about the landscape that surrounds her. Using her own home sweet home in Far North Queensland as a form of inspiration for her new novel, Magro has sprinkled her latest release with plenty of truly believable descriptions of her location base. I appreciated the references to the stunning landscape, the sounds of nature and the vivid colours of our country. There was also a sense of pure tranquility to the setting that seemed to exude from the pages of this novel. At all points of Home Sweet Home the landscape managed to enhance the storyline. Magro’s latest will be sure to hold your attention from cover to cover.

Mandy Magro is a novelist who continues to go from strength to strength and Home Sweet Home is another earnest story from this big-hearted storyteller.

Home Sweet Home is a charming rural romance by Mandy Magro. It was the first book by the author that I have read and now I see why so many people rave about her books. The story was sweet, with realistic characters that I feel in love with and wanted them to be happy. I read this in 2 nights, wrapped up in the story.

Set in Brisbane and North Queensland, Home Sweet Home is the story of 2 broken people starting again. It is a love story, a story of hope and family. Sienna and Mason are both widows and struggling to find their way on their own. When they meet sparks fly but they know that it can't last with the distance between them. But life has a funny way of changing and suddenly they become neighbours and the relationship starts to fire up again. But Mason has a secret that could break Sienna.

This is book is beautifully written and makes you feel like you are there at Whispering Willows with the characters. A great summer binge read.

Thanks to Harlequin Australia for sending this book my way. Home Sweet Home is in Australian bookstores now

Another fabulous story from Mandy Magro, she really knows how to pull at her readers heartstrings with another emotion charged rural romance that had me turning the pages as we get to know Sienna and Morgan as they find their way to love and happiness in Far North Queensland.

Widowed Sienna Lewis and her nine year old daughter Zara struggle to make ends meet in a small apartment in Brisbane, but their dream has always been to get to the country to live their lives, she works hard cleaning at a hospital she meets cranky patient Max and there is a connection between them and it is not long before Max is smiling, sadly he is not long for this world and Sienna is very sad, she also makes a connection to Max’s friend Morgan he is one good looking cowboy.

Morgan King is Max’s neighbour and best friend Max is good at keeping people away all except Morgan and Morgan is working hard to produce happy cows just as Max did although this does not make Morgan’s father very happy, they do not have a good relationship and there are reasons for that. Morgan is stunned when Max makes friends with Sienna although he does understand why, she is caring and beautiful and they also get on very well.

Sadly Max passes away and Sienna and Morgan are very shocked to find that Max has left his property to both of them with some stipulations, he was a wise man Max he saw the spark between them. Now Sienna and Zara’s dreams may be coming true if she can trust Morgan and her heart, she is scared of being hurt again. Morgan too has been through a lot and he knows how he feels for Sienna and Zara but a secret could cause them a lot of grief.

Beautifully written with a fabulous setting Morgan and Sienna are so easy to love and I was cheering them on from the start, being neighbours brings them closer together but they need to learn to trust. I did love this one so much and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a rural romance that will leave you feeling very happy.

Thank You Harlequin AUS and Harper Collins Au for my copy to read.

Sienna Lewis is a struggling young widow and single mum to Zara. She dreams of giving her daughter a better life in the country, where she has room to run round and not be stuck in a tiny flat in Brisbane. She works at the same hospital as her cousin Kirra who’s a doctor and Sienna's a cleaner. One day while cleaning a patient’s room she meets the handsome Mason King and his elderly terminally ill friend Max Boswell.

The men’s properties are next door to each other and in the far north of Queensland near Bluewater Bay. Max is a grumpy old bugger, he and Sienna get on well and chat while he sadly fades away in hospital. He unexpectedly leaves Sienna half of his property called Whispering Willows and she can’t believe it.

Mason King has been left the other half of Whispering Willows, Max had noticed the chemistry between Mason and Sienna, he’s done his bit and hopefully cupid will strike. Sienna is really attracted to Mason, he defiantly likes her as well and yet Mason seems reluctant to start a relationship?

Mason and Sienna are given the opportunity to fall in love again, are they ready to be together and put their hearts on the line? Sienna is, she would love to be with Mason and she has no idea he has a secret and that’s what’s stopping him from going any further. I really enjoyed reading Home Sweet Home, I love an Aussie romance set in Queensland, it's about making the most of second chances and four stars from me. https://karrenreadsbooks.blogspot.com/

An easy romance with the requisite trials and tests.

Sienna and Zara Lewis have experienced many of life’s hardships when fate intervenes and they find themselves living on a farm in Far North Queensland.

The blurb, I feel, gives away a little too much and the first half of the story is therefore rather predictable. Life on the farm with neighbour Mason King unfolds as I would expect in a typical romance read. There are ups and downs, and a little drama along the way.

Lovely characters, setting and writing. An easy summer read.

The Queen of rural romance continues to churn out a top notch story that will capture your heart.
I love Mandy Magro books, that’s no secret.
I shout the recommendations from the rooftop, I spread the word on social media and I hope to get to meet the superstar herself one day.
Home Sweet Home is another beauty, a rural romance that’s wonderfully special.
Sienna Lewis has been struck by tragedy and is now having trouble making ends meet.
She only wants to give her daughter Zara the hopes and dreams they both deserve.
Concentrating on her job at the hospital she befriends Max, a cranky dying patient and sadly when he passes he leaves her a property in Far North Queensland.
Mason King has never really connected with his own family when a shocking incident as a youngster devastated him.
Working and helping Max, his neighbours farm, he is crushed when Max dies and leaves an unusual condition in his will.
Little do they both know that Max notices the spark between Sienna and Mason and sets a plan to bring them together.
As love blossoms so do secrets and can these two get to have their happy ending.
An emotive and delightful read that gives all the heartwarming feelings a good book does.
A love story that’s not without its problems which makes it all the more raw and real.
There’s many reasons to love this tale, the engaging and delectable characters, the warmth and pleasing setting and the stunningly written plot.
Another Mandy book to admire and cherish.

This is a delightful rural romance set in outback Queensland, it is a story of heart break, heart ache, longing, love and family secrets. Mandy has an amazing knack of drawing you in to the settings. She writes real and lovable characters, and you can’t help but want to know more of their story long after the book has ended.

Sienna Lewis, a country girl at heart lives in the city with her daughter Zara, working as a cleaner at a hospital and she is only just managing to keep her head above water. One day she dreams of giving Zara the life and big family she deserves.

Mason King, a farmer, who is visiting the city as his dear friend and neighbour is unwell and in hospital. Mason has worked tirelessly to follow in the footsteps of his beloved cattleman neighbour, Max, by raising ethically farmed cattle - despite the stream of disapproval from his old-fashioned father.

Sienna and Mason’s paths cross by Max’s hospital bed and with the help of her cousin they go out on a date.

Through a twist of fate, Sienna’s dream of moving back to the country is realised but not in a way she’d ever have expected, but it’s not all a bed of roses, she will face some hard choices, some heart ache and secrets hidden for years will come to the surface.

I have to say I loved this book and boy did it have me craving food from sashimi to red frogs haha this was another great book by Mandy Magro.

Another Fabulous Story by Mandy Margo. I throughly enjoyed reading this book. Sienna Lewis is raising her seven year old daughter Zara alone in Brisbane after her husband's death two years earlier and unborn baby as they were killed in car accident on a night out. She is now working in Brisbane Hospital as a cleaner. Sienna hopes to one raise her daughter on a farm like she was until her parents death when she went to live wither Aunty and Cousin who is also a docotor at the hospital. It is here she meets and elderly patient Max and his young Neighbour Mason King who is looking after him. Mason King is also a widower who's wife passed away from a Brain Amueryism.
Both dealing with a broken heart from the loss of their partners meet when her cousin orgainised a double date for her her birthday with Mason. On the night of the date her cousin has to back out due to her cat getting sick and her and her partner take it the vet but make sure Sienna still goes on the date with Mason.
The both develop a fondness for each other and decide if things were differnt that they woulld see if the feelings were real as he nneded to return home.

Sienna all talked all lot with Max when she cleaned his room after his passing he leaves the farm to her and Mason to own. Sienna moves with her daughter there. Mandy shows us that time can heal with the right person at your side to love again. That also relsationships aren't always smooth sailing when comes to moving on when u have child, the choice you have to make to find love.
Please pick up this book once you start to read you won't put it down.

Sienna Lewis works in her local hospital cleaning, is a single parent after losing her husband, and is a hard-working battler. She hopes one day to meet someone special and give her daughter, Zara, a sibling or two.

Sienna is supposed to go out with her cousin, Kirra, and her husband and they have arranged for a dashing young man, Mason King, to join them. At the last minute Kirra and her husband have an emergency and leave Sienna to meet Mason. They hit it off and make another date.

Mason is in town as his neighbour, Max, is in hospital and not doing too well. Sienna is cleaning and meets Max in his hospital room. They start talking and get along well, and then Max realises that there is a spark between Sienna and Mason.

After Max passes away the will is read and half his property goes to Mason with the remaining half left to Sienna. The will stipulates that Sienna and her daughter must live in the property for six and she wishes to sell after that time she can.

A book well worth reading to find out if Sienna sells the property or if she stays and makes a go of it with Mason.

Sienna Lewis and Mason King are two lost souls who were destined to be together. The widow and widower meet whilst Mason is accompanying his neighbour, Max to hospital in Brisbane.

Max sees the potential of a long lasting love between the pair. So, he leaves his house to Sienna and her daughter Zara to live in, and his land for them to co-own.

The new neighbours try and stick to a platonic relationship. But as they grow closer over time, it becomes harder to just remain friends... Even if Mason is withholding a secret that will define their future.

ℍ𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕊𝕨𝕖𝕖𝕥 ℍ𝕠𝕞𝕖 is now my favourite Mandy Magro novel! Everything about it delightful and evokes the feel good vibes. My absolute favourite thing is the developing father and daughter relationship between Mason and young Zara- he is just so sweet and loving towards the child and her mother of course!!

Max is such a big softie despite his grumpy behaviour. He knows the importance of not letting true love get away and his meddling is such a beautiful gesture.

I didn't want this book to end!!

A well deserved 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Absolutely loved it!

It had me captured from the get go, and I couldn’t put it down. The characters are so relatable, I had tears and I had laughter too.
It was so good to see ALL the characters had flaws, yet still managed to come out the other side.

My favourite book so far!

I’ve been trying to push thru this book for most of it, for various reasons, but there’s 1.5 hrs to go (audio), and you know what? I’m not even going to finish it!

I’M SO PISSED OFF AT IT!

Starting with the general annoyances...
- it’s taking FOREVER to do very little
- it’s gliding over the top of most of it, not getting ‘into’ the characters lives or world, were just skipping like a rock
- it seems to be religious. Not bible bashing thankfully, but lots of gods will, and gods blessing, he/she’s a-MORAL-person-so-it’s-ok-to-like-them and other phrases and comments that are blatantly ’GOD’, rather then just general life comments and affirmations
- no cussing or the like (all the same ‘voice’), so I kept thinking it’s a ‘clean’ book, but they have sex. I keep expecting they to point out pre marital sex means they aren’t not moral people
- I can’t tell the difference between the mother and the pre-tween daughter. They ‘talk’ the same. So do most of the other characters
- I think I was pushing thru because I wanted to find out the H was Max’s son. I got the generation wrong, he would have been Max’s grandson, but when it came time for the reveal, there was no reveal. She granny with dementia just says, ‘I would have liked him to know, but it doesn’t matter now’. To be fair, they might clarify that in the last hour and a half, but I’m done.
- he has a big secret which he keeps from her, and he makes her decisions for her by denying her the knowledge and making the choices without her
- his big secret is possible infertility, and it never once crosses his mind that there are options.
- his obnoxious, arrogant, controlling, estranged father wants to snap up their land/business and turn it into a ‘meat factory’, fighting the H on every ethical animal welfare principle he has, and the h keeps thinking, maybe I will sell my half of the business and the land to the dad since I don’t (in the current break up) want to have to see the H around anymore.
- and I hate to bash the audio narrator, but I don’t think she help this book at all. There are so many times were (IMO) her timing, tone, inflection or emphasis was just all wrong. But saying that, there’s not a hell of a lot she can do it all the characters a written the ‘same’.

What was the final straw for me? The H has been mumbling about an accident might have made him infertile since his first scene... we are talking about 6mths ago. He has been putting off finding out, even tho he knew from the start the h wanted more kids, and he was ‘courting’ her, so it was gunna come up. He FINALLY got tested, after he rejected her without telling her why (after he’d spent months courting her and her kid). And, I gotta be honest, it feels like he’s been waiting for these results for almost a month. I’ve no first hand experience, but that seems excessive. Any way, he rejected her. She forgave him and decided friends is better than nothing. Then she has an epiphany that ‘must have baby’ was just a coping strategy to imagine what would make her world perfect, but turns out she realises, just being friends with him and having him in her and her daughters lives makes it perfect... awww. So he’s finally taken the test and they start to actively court again, and she’s all tell me everything, and he’s all, it’s bad but I’m not telling you anything until I know for sure. And they turn into bad moral people after a few drinks and her lust filled brain says ‘he’s it, he’s the one, he is magically MEANT to be hers and there’s NOTHING that could be so bad that she would turn her perfect person away’... awwww.

Come morning. She elated. Then she’s not quite so lusty. Then she not quite sure she should have slept with him without knowing what this big bad is. Then she worried. Then she’s opening her mail mindlessly that he has accidentally mixed with his, and she’s horrified to find out that he’s lied to her and deceived her and how could he keep that he was infertile from her since he KNEW that top priority for her and her daughter was sibling, pronto. What a horrible awful (immoral?) human being...

So remember that epiphany she had about a baby not actually being the be all and end all? No, neither does she. Remember how he was trying to put them off until he found out something very important? No, neither does she. Remember how she actively pushed for them to forget it all, commit and sleep together last night? No, neither does she.

And neither one of them considers that they could get a donor, or, given she and her late husband took 7years to get pregnant with their second child (who she lost), there’s no guarantee they could have had a child anyway.

Now remembering that I quit this crap at the start of their blow up, break up... and being a book, they are going to sort their shit out. They may well come up with all these options. And she has only known about his issue for a few seconds, but she hasn’t once considered she may not have another child ‘that she is going to have to make her and her daughters lives perfect’, especially given the trouble she had with her second, and the fact that she was refusing to date before he stumbled in... and at every pothole they hit, she went straight to ‘never trust, never open up again, can’t do it, too scary, the universe is out to get me, it won’t let me be happy’. Her odds were fairly low without him anyway.

Home sweet home is about Sienna Lewis and Mason King. The story first takes place in Brisbane, where Sienna is living with her daughter Zara. Sienna and Zara have been through so much in their lives, including the death of Sienna's husband and Zara's father Zach. However while Sienna is working at her job at the hospital, she meets Mason and his dying neighbour. Sienna soon becomes close to both Mason and Max, and is surprised when after Max's death she learns that he left his property, Whispering Willows to her as well as to Mason. As Mason is her new neighbour they spend a lot of time together and they soon start falling in love. But Sienna learns that Mason is keeping a secret from her. Will this secret end up being the end of their relationship? Or will Sienna and Mason be able to move past it and continue their relationship? I really enjoyed this book. I loved the relationship between Mason and Zara. He became such a father figure to her. And Sienna and Mason's relationship was beautiful despite also having their challenges. They were so perfect together and Mandy Magro really shows that to the reader. This is the second Mandy Magro book I have read and I definitely want to read more by her.
My favourite Home sweet Home quotes
"She knew, he would never leave her, never intentionally hurt her, was certain he would love Zara like his own. Max had known exactly what he'd been doing, bringing them all together like he had. Bless his beautiful soul."
"I love you, Sienna Lewis, and no matter what happens, or what decision you make, I always will take care of you and Zara. Remember that, okay?"
"I love you too, Mason, more and more every single day."
