I found this story and Off Limits: The Scottish Billionaire a little while ago on Booksprouts and I said, “why not?”, because I love reading new-to-me authors. The thing I found interesting is that for me, it wasn’t until I finished reading Off Limits that I fully appreciated this prequel for what it was. On its own, nothing about it wow’d me. I wasn’t bored or anything, I just didn’t connect with the story. *shrug* I felt zero attachment to any of it. I don’t know why, I can’t pinpoint this or that about it, I just wasn’t feeling it so whatever LOL It is what it is.

How the hero and the OW/ex-girlfriend’s story much more interesting than the hero & heroine’s? Ms Parker should have stuck with Alec/Keli and they would’ve served far better than Alec/Lumen.

Alec meets Keli when he fulfills a promise to a friend to keep an eye on his younger sister and Keli just happens to be her roommate.

The prequel has promise but I have to admit the chemistry between Keli and Alec didn’t make me feel as though I’d combust from their encounters unlike other stories by M. S. Parker. Now that I think about it, I’m wondering if it could be Alec’s attitude as opposed to the story itself🤷‍♀️I’m hoping the first book itself will be better which I’ll read in the next day or so❣️

Regardless of how often Alec extoled his and Keli’s sexual compatibility, it didn’t make his claims any truer. Their sex scenes, much like those awkward conversations that Alec kept complaining about, were stilted and lacklustre. The same could be said for M.S. Parker’s storytelling. Her narration was so robotic and she kept randomly introducing new characters or jumping to different settings – all of which seemed to serve little to no purpose. It was Alec’s actions, however, that were the final straw for me. He wanted to break things off with Keli, but refused to be the one to initiate it. Instead, he tried to force her hand by avoiding her and then, when confronted, hid behind the excuse that he was too busy with work. It was utterly pathetic.

Despite there “only” being 86 pages in this prequel, it was an excruciating read. Even the cliff-hanger (i.e. Alec discovering that Keli was pregnant) wasn’t interesting enough for me to want to learn how his story ends. But, on the plus side, I’m grateful for heeding the author’s advice to start with this instalment because it saved me from the needless torture that Off Limits was sure to be.

Simple and unpredictable
4.5
I really liked this prequel, both for its characters and for their story which is as predictable as unpredictable, and quite hot. I spent my time wondering how the heroine Keli would react to Alec's behavior, because what seems to be a romance like "and they lived happily ever after", corresponds more to a realistic story. This is all the more surprising since the story is only told by Alec.
The night of Halloween, Alec, a very wealthy CEO, meets Keli, a student, who called him to help the sister of a friend of his who is too drunk to come home.
He appreciates Keli and when he meets her before Christmas by chance, they go to dinner together and seduce each other. But where the young Keli thinks of building a relationship, Alec only benefits from a carnal relationship, and this difference in interpretation is important.I liked the way this difference is treated and written.

This was an okay quick read. It's a prequel to a series about lots of siblings and them finding love. This prequel introduces us to the family around Alec having a fling with Lexi. Didn't really connect with the characters that much but then again they just seemed to f..k.

I may dive into book 1 and see how it goes, I do love a Scottish book boyfriend.

The Scottish Billionaire Prequel by M. S. Parker starts the story of Keli and Alec. This also opens us up to other characters that are setting the tone for the the full book called 'Off Limits'. I have read this author before so that was part of the reason I wanted to read this along with the story line.

This was the most CONFUSING prequel I've ever read LOL and I already know what happens so it shouldn't have been so confusing. I hate Kelli and after book 2 I don't even really like Alec so I probably shouldn't continue this series but I'm in too deep now 😭

i had high expectations just from looking at the cover, but the story was awful. the main characters had no personality - alex was an asshole. you would think someone who is in training to inherit a billion dollar company would easily make decisions including his personal life. keli, ugh, she was an airhead and talked too much. there was just too many sex scenes that were robotic so i didn't have feelings for these two. and the whole family clan ... there was just too many of them to remember. thank goodness i got this for free!

A Halloween Trick or Treat

This book is the Prequel to The Scottish Billionaire series by M.S. Parker. It introduces the series and the main character Alec McCrae. Alec has moved to Seattle, Washington to establish a second office of the family company, McCrae International Research Institute (MIRI). He is an interesting mix of young and old as he takes his responsibilities and work with MIRI very seriously yet he does stupid young stuff which gets him into a bit of trouble before the end of this prequel.
Keli Miller is twenty years old and a Californian native who is living in Seattle and going to university. She meets Alec on Halloween night when she calls him when her roommate Ester is drunk and tells her to. It seems Ester's cousin is best friends with one of Alec's younger brothers and he had asked him to watch over Ester for him. Keli needs some help to get her and Ester back to their dorm and so the call to Alec is made.
Alec and Keli hit it off and before long they are having fun hanging out together and also between the sheets together, along with other places. But when Keli tries to "insert herself into his life" he is not willing to go along with it. Alec likes casual sex and not traditional relationships. Even when he tries to tell Keli this she is not really receptive to it. But before he has a chance to completely end things Keli has a little surprise for him that he was never expecting. One thing is for sure though........he may not be able to fully love Keli but he would love the child she was pregnant with.

I enjoyed this prequel to the new series. There were a number of characters that were introduced and the story was fairly interesting. My only issue is that I wish there was more time spent on Alec's background as it is glossed over quickly with little snippets. I am looking forward to reading the first book in the series, Off Limits to see what happens next with Alec and Keli.

Alec has recently settled in Seattle, as the CEO of his families company MIRI’s offices there. He’s hard working and professional, a workaholic like his father. His family comprises of plenty of siblings including those from when his father remarried after the death of Alec’s mother. On Halloween, he receives a phone call from a young woman asking for his help with her friend. It turns out she’s the roommate of a relative of his brother who’s serving overseas. He can’t look out for her so Alec volunteered. Although being too drunk to walk wasn’t quite what he had in mind. When he arrives he is drawn to her roommate Keli. She gorgeous and when he runs into her over thanksgiving, a steamy and passionate relationship ensues. Alec likes to play hard when he finds the time. He doesn’t do relationships. He’s great at business but not so great with people. Alec is old before his time in many ways but he certainly makes up for it in the bedroom. Keli is five years younger, study art and art history, but just as adventurous as Alec. However after a few dates, it becomes clear to Alec that the only thing they have in common is sex and he realises that he needs to break things off. This is a well written, brilliant introduction to this new series. Told from Alec’s POV the characters are all interesting including his extended family. Alec and Keli have amazing chemistry but Alec is a hard taskmaster and hasn’t made it easy for Keli to break down his walls. It will be interesting to see how this story plays out in the next book. A superb start.

Prequel-The Scottish Billionaires

I have already read all the stories you have written thus far including now Alec's Prequel story. Alec's is a right bit piece of site! He uses Keli for sex. She is far younger than he is. Even if he is fairly young but working himself to be an old man. If all he wanted was sex, he could have picked someone up. But instead he kind of never said the words I am not interested. He could have said no to the art show. There were many things he did wrong but so did she. She called him all the time, throwing herself at him. And when she got pregnant, she knew exactly when, like it was planned. It's different if you are trying. You kind of know. But for her, I feel like once she saw that house that night, she made a plan. After she heard she would only be a hobbyist artist, I think she got it in her mind to get herself pregnant and based on later books and arguments, yes, this might be so even if she doesn't admit to it. Yes it takes two to tango but...and she is in college having alot of sex. Never depend on a condom. Or just a pill or IUD. It is called double time.
This is a good book. I do think it could delve a bit more into Keli's personality since we see a very negative side later.

This is a MUST READ for the later books. I read it after but it definitely explains more.

8/10

I smell trouble coming! Alec definitely is a guy with good intentions but his need to calculate outcomes clearly doesn't help him when it comes to Keli. Plus he needs to learn a bit more about how to handle personal life. Not that she is a bad person. They just don't have that magic together, just a good chunk of hot combustible physical desire.

The way the book is written just plants that seed of doubt of what is to come. And it's like that saying of watching a train wreck about to happen but not being able to look away. And in all honesty it's too bad that Alec responds in the most predictable way even though it makes for good entertainment down the road. So I'm hoping he corrects those natural and basic impulses with what is to come. He will need it. Still, kudos to the author for keeping me intrigued. I'm really rooting for Keli and Alec to prove me wrong.

This is the Prequel to The Scottish Billionaires Series

This is the the story of Alec & Keli. Alec moved to California from Ireland when he was a child, and then to Seattle to open a second office of his family's business, MIRI – McCrae International Research Institute, which he was CEO. Keli is an artist and is in college. She is taking art history. They meet when Keli and her friends are at a party and their friends left them there. Her friend's cousin told her to call Alec if they ever got in tight spot, so since her friend was drunk, Keli called him. They do have a sexual relationship with chemistry, but they have nothing else in common, but Alec doesn't feel anything more for Keli. He wants to end it with her, but then she tells him quite a surprise at the end. This was a great prequel to the first book of the series. Can't wait to read it.

This is the prequel to the rest of the series so a lot of time is spent giving us the background Sometimes this slows a book down but in this case that didn't happen The book still flowed well and make me want to read on to the next book in the sereis

Keli and her friends have gone to a party but when her and her friend are left behind she phones Alec to be rescued He is a CEO of his family company and is an all work and no play kind of guy. Not long after they meet again and this time they strike up a sexual relationship but that is all that it is they have no friendship or common ground. Alec knows that he needs to break things off before Keli gets hurt. Then she drops the ultimate bombshell has she caught him in the oldest trap of all We will have to wait for the next book to see

Good

Although I kind of understand and sometimes like knowing of how it starts, I’m trying to understand if this one is necessary to the first book. I personally don’t think that it will make it better for me to read this first. If your not really required for the fore story of Alec, I would say skip it. I walked away really only skimming the last part and not really thinking I would want to know why it is the way it is. But I am very looking forward to the first book. If you like the ground work, so to speak, of a story then I do recommend this read. And even though the prequel is not really my cup of tea, it was well written and painted the picture of the beginning of Alec and him in general. So it will be a personal preference on the prequel part of it.

What a great start of a new series! Alec is a hot, billionaire with an accent! He's originally from Scotland, but moved to the United States when he was a kid. He's married to his job and doesn't have time for socializing or relationships. However, when he meets Keli their chemistry is off the chart. He's in it for a good time and plans on breaking it off, sooner than later and before she starts to think they have a relationship. Until..........

This was a great, quick, steamy read! The characters were great, and although it didn't end the way I hoped it would, I'm sure M.S. Parker has a reason for this!

New billionaire romance

This book is the prequel to The Scottish Billionaire series. We are introduced to Keli and Alec. She is an artist studying at college, and he’s the workaholic CEO of his family’s company. They couldn’t be any more different. And you know how the saying goes… opposites attract. But, is there anything more than just pure physical chemistry and desire?

There’s plenty of drama and a surprise at the end. I give this book four and half stars, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

This is the prequel to The Scottish Billionaire series. We get meet Alec and Keli, see how they meet and get to know them a little bit. Alec takes after his father in the business minded department and finds himself running the family company. He is a workaholic and a bit of an a$$hat. The chemistry between Alec and Keli is so hot but they do not have a lot in common. Does that matter, opposites can attract? This book sets the stage perfectly for the first book in the series and with this ending.....I cannot wait to read it. A great introduction to a new series. Enjoy!

Prequel is everything a M.S. Parker book usually is: very hot. What I did forget is that sometimes a prequel is not a happily-ever-after story. (banging my head) I love Alec and his family with 18 siblings, yes I said 18, Parker has an entire library she can write for a series. I liked the chemistry between Alec and Keli and so did he (laugh). Everything was great about the book until the end.

I do know that Parker will make it up to me and that is why at 1:00 a.m. I am going to jump right into Book One of this series: The Scottish Billionaire - that even sounds sexy.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

This was the most boring, confusing and obvious prequel I have ever read. I am going to have to pass on this series.

Interestingly, I usually love a cold loner hero but Alec is just uninspiring. He seems like a good guy but this story was VERY boring. Could it be his lack of interest in Keli? I don't know.

She seemed like an awesome girl and the perfect companion, right until Alec no longer wanted to have sex with her.

This family is huge, mismatched and just as confusing as everything else that was happening.

It was so much stimulation but no substance. It was way too long for how it ended and I smelt that ending a mile away!

Sorry, not for me.

Prequel – The Scottish Billionaires is an engaging introduction to Alec McCrae, a determined workaholic whose life is thrown into chaos by unexpected challenges. The story sets up an intriguing premise, blending ambition, responsibility, and the unpredictability of life in the high-stakes world of business.

M.S. Parker does a great job building curiosity for the series with just enough drama and steamy moments to keep readers hooked. While it feels like more of a setup than a standalone story, it successfully lays the groundwork for what promises to be an exciting and captivating billionaire romance series. A quick and enjoyable read for fans of steamy billionaire dramas!

I’m surprised I liked this prequel as much as I did. I really felt having it told in Alex’s voice was so important because knowing what he is thinking through the various stages of his encounters with Keli are critical to how the prequel ends and tells us how Alec becomes the man in the story “Off Limits”.

I really look forward to reading “Off Limits” knowing this background because through it all I found that I really liked Alec and the young man he was and I wonder how this changes him.

I have been reading M.S. Parker’s books for a long time now and I have yet to find one that I didn’t love. This short introductory book is no exception. I was intrigued by the way these two people come together. The whole book is written from the hero Alec’s point of view. Although calling him a hero is a bit ridiculous. Although I realize that he has cause to be wary of women he comes across as a bit of a dick. I will definitely be interested in how this series progresses.

I give this Prequel 4.5 Stars of WOW. Due to it’s just a look into the beginning of a relationship. Not between Alec and Keli. But, our relationship with the storyline and life of these two.
Just the prequel alone is hot enough to get things started. We won’t even get started on Book 1.
I’m soo looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen next.

WOW.

Meet Alec, the workaholic, & Keli, the student enjoying life. They didn't waste any time getting to know each other intimately.

Are these two young lovers compatible outside the sheets? Only time will tell.

As always, I was sucked into the story by the wordsmith, MS Parker.

As always, I await the next book with anticipation.
