The world desperately needs wisdom right now. There is lots of knowledge but proper use of that knowledge, wisdom, is all too often absent. Proverbs is a great source of wisdom but the sayings there may be hard to understand or confusing.
Meyer comes to our rescue. She helps us see that the biblical book can show us how to live lives pleasing to God. While there is a chapter in this book dedicated to each chapter in Proverbs, it is not a verse by verse commentary. Meyer helps us understand the major concepts it teaches along with thoughtful commentary.
My favorite section in the book was on the topic, wisdom loves discipline. Some Christians might think they are not disciplined but Meyer reminds us 2 Tim. 1:7 says God has given us a spirit of disciplines and it is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). “As believers,” she writes, “we have self-control but people do not always use what they have.” (20) If we do not discipline ourselves, she says, God will discipline us. (Prov. 3:11-12)
Some suggest reading through Proverbs every month, a chapter a day. This book would be a great companion to that practice. Meyer is honest, relating how she had to learn many of the principles through mistakes. She includes wise advice: “Always remember we are not called to be like other people, but to be like Jesus.” (80) She doesn't let us off with easy instruction: “The wise person loves correction.” (127)
Meyer reminds us we need to put into practical use what we find in Proverbs. “Simply knowing something does not benefit us, if we don't apply it to our lives.” (181) Reading this book gives us great encouragement to apply the wisdom found in Proverbs.
One odd thing about this book is that Meyer assures us in the introduction that the text of the Book of Proverbs is included. (viii) It is not.

In Search of Wisdom (2021, Large Print) is not a verse-by-verse commentary. It is instead grouped under themes corresponding with each chapter. It covers all thirty-one chapters of the Book of Proverbs. In the Introduction, Joyce Meyer explains to the reader what the Seven Foundational Principles mean in context to the chapters. These principles - Wisdom, Understanding, Prudence, Knowledge, Discretion, Discernment and The Fear of the Lord - aid in comprehending what the authors of Proverbs meant when they wrote the book. I would suggest reading Proverbs one chapter at a time. For example, after finishing reading chapter one in the Bible, read chapter one in In Search of Wisdom next. I feel by reading both books, the reader obtains a firmer grasp of the chapter and gains understanding 'on applying these principles in their life.' In the Conclusion, Meyer reiterates what she mentioned in the Introduction: ". . . I have taken what I felt led of the Holy Spirit to highlight and I encourage you to study this book along with the writings of Proverbs for yourself." (333)

The difference between a fool and a wise person is something that, as a Christian, I always thought I knew. This book gave me a deeper understanding on that, and helped me comprehend things most of the time I ignored from Proverbs; specially the seven foundational principles Joyce Meyer mentions, that made it easier to understand, and I'm very grateful for that.

I have struggled with knowing how God's Word applies to my life now and this book has given me a deeper understanding of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how to apply them to my every moment. The book is written in easy-to-understand, conversational tone with many personal examples. My biggest take away from this book is that I can pray to God all day and ask that I have the wisdom to make choices following God's Will for my life and be content at all times.

Do you have favorite books in the Bible? Proverbs is one of mine. I like the practical day to day advice. Today, Joyce Meyer's new book about Proverbs releases: In Search of Wisdom.
In Search of Wisdom is a straight forward book with a chapter on each of the 31 chapters of Proverbs, an introduction and a conclusion. In the Introduction, Meyer encourages readers to read each book of Proverb before reading the corresponding chapter. In each chapter, Meyers then shares commentary on verses throughout the chapter. She also asks questions to inspire you to think about how you are living your life with respect to the wisdom of the verses in that chapter. Meyer emphasizes how important wisdom is to living a life for God throughout the book. In the conclusion, she once again illustrates just how important it is.
I appreciate how practical and easy to read In Search of Wisdom is. Meyer always offers straightforward commentary and does a great job of helping readers understand and apply the Bible to live better lives. This book would be helpful as a personal study on Proverbs but it would also be good for a Sunday School class or Bible study group. In Search of Wisdom is a book that would also be good for both new Christians and those who have been Christians for many years. I think there is always more to learn and study to apply Proverbs to our lives.

This book was helpful as all of JM’s books are!! Really opened my eyes to see how much insight is in the book of Proverbs. It also showed just how wise the writers of that book were!! Overall reading this book, helped me understand certain chapters of Proverbs much more easily!!

I've always enjoyed Proverbs' teachings, and the way they teach me to make good choices and have strong judgement and understanding. This devotional-type book expresses how to treat people, the power of our words, how to build strong relationships, etc.
I love how this book is laid out, with each chapter broken down precisely and clearly, not only helping me understand its concepts, but also the importance of taking action with that understanding. Ms. Meyer provides a candid and humble conversational tone, making me feel at ease and open to instruction.

Wisdom is doing now what you’ll be glad you did later. This book was insightful and encouraging/convicting. Easy to read and understand. I enjoyed reading it along with the chapters of Proverbs. Highly recommend if you are wanting to go deeper in your understanding and application of the wisdom found in Proverbs.

Going on the keeper shelf! Hope to reread this again in the future. I read it along with Proverbs in 2 different versions for January. I really liked reading this book along with Proverbs. It gave more insight and information into Proverbs. Highly recommend!

Great read that you can read a Proverbs a day. Joyce Meyers has great perspective on each chapter of Proverbs and share her wisdom on the chapters that you delve into.

As always, Joyce Meyer offers practical, grounded explanations to Bible passages.
This is a beautiful companion to the book of Proverbs.
My only "complaint" is that I wanted something with a little more weight.
Still, I'm glad I read it.

I loved reading this book. It can be used a chapter a day read or you can read the whole thing whenever you would like.
Each chapter focuses on one chapter of Proverbs each. I would recommend having your Bible beside you and you reading the Proverbs chapter before reading each chapter of the book. Joyce Meyer has always been one of my favorite authors and I just really loved this book. It was not only a reminder of how great Proverbs is, but it brings out personal things when you read it. If you like Joyce Meyer, I would recommend it. If you are new to Joyce Meyer, I would recommend it as well.

The last two commentaries I have reviewed from Joyce Meyer has shocked me in being very informative and entertaining as well. I am not a major fan of her preaching style, and most of her writings are geared for the female audiences, but her last book on Galatians, and now this one on Proverbs, are not gender oriented.
There is a lot of topics covered in the Bible book, so Meyer chooses seven topics: Wisdom, Understanding,Prudence, Knowledge, Discretion, Discernment, and the Fear of The Lord. The easy to read chapters walk the reader through all 31 Chapters of the Bible book, and focuses on those seven points.
One should have their Bible with them and read each chapter before the Meyer commentary, because she does not list every verse nor cover every point -it would be too lengthy.

Proverbs is one of my favorite books and I was very interested in reading Joyce Meyers new book, In Search Of Wisdom. From the very beginning, the author states that this new release is not an exhaustive commentary, nor, a verse by verse study on the book of Proverbs. Meyers takes seven foundational principles that are repeated over and over again and traces them throughout the book of Proverbs. Of course, other topics are covered as well, but they are more random than the original seven principles mentioned in the Introduction.
In each chapter, Meyers correlates with the same chapter in the book of Proverbs. So, if you read chapter one of In Search Of Wisdom, it will talk about Proverbs chapter one. The writing style is easy to read, and from the few times I’ve watched Joyce Meyer on television, it seems to be the same teaching style. On that front, I felt the book was genuine. "The search for wisdom is a journey, and having its principles worked into our character and become our natural responses to the issues of life require time, thought, and practice."
In the beginning of a new year, I thought it would be fitting to read a book about wisdom—to help me realign my mindset and the way I live with the Word of God. I've also read several books written by Joyce Meyer in the past and really enjoyed her writing style, so I didn't hesitate at all to start reading this book. As the title suggests, we will be learning through the book of Proverbs—which is one of my favorite books of the Bible because it has a lot of practical wisdom that will be beneficial for our daily lives. In this book, each chapter will focus and explain several principles from the corresponding chapter in Proverbs and these principles will help us obtain and grow in wisdom in our day-to-day lives.
"In my opinion, we look at far too many things in theory without applying them practically in our daily lives. Everything God says is good and worth hearing, but if we do not apply it to our lives, it does not benefit us or anyone else."
"Wisdom does not rebuke us to make us feel guilty, but to urge us to make a positive change in God's direction."
The book of Proverbs includes teaching on many different aspect of our lives, such as how to treat people; how to think, the importance of our words; how to manage finances; how to behave in marriage; how to cultivate good relationships; how to handle offenses, correction, and discipline; the importance of having understanding, discretion, and discernment; and more. In this review, I will be discussing several topics mentioned in this book that I especially took note of. The first one is the quality of being prudent—which means we are to be good managers of all our resources, including our finances, time, and energy. The author warns us about the importance of staying out of debt by managing our finances wisely. We also need to find balance in using our time because overworking is not healthy, while laziness never leads to anything good either. More often than not, we are too focused on staying busy and neglect our need to rest. It's also nice to be reminded that material goods that we possess are transitory—here today and gone tomorrow. Even though there is nothing wrong with wanting things and asking God for them, to say that we cannot be happy without them is not a godly attitude. 💯
Another topic that I think we need to be constantly reminded of is the power of our words. If we believe that our words are so powerful, we will be very careful about what we say. One of the quotes that I love regarding this topic said: "Words can be free, but the way we use them may cost us.". There are times when we didn't consider thoroughly the effects or consequences of the words we speak. But the book of Proverbs emphasized that if we think about what we are going to say before saying it, we will speak wisdom instead of foolishness—so God will be honored and our lives will benefit greatly from it. This year, I want to intentionally speak kind and encouraging words to those around me, because I know that what I say can make or break someone's day. ❤️
"All we can do about our mistakes is to confess them, ask God to forgive us for them, and then learn from them. Our mistakes can probably educate us more than most other experiences if we will let them."
"Wisdom is available in every area of our lives, and if we seek it we will find it. When we find it, we need to apply it to our lives in practical ways."
The last one that I will be mentioning in this review is the theme of obedience. The author asked: 'Have you ever disobeyed God and then perhaps given an extra offering, thinking it would make up for your disobedience?'. I have to admit, I used to think that way back when I was a lot younger; but now I know these kinds of sacrifices are not acceptable to the Lord and we can never 'pay' for our mistakes. God wants our obedience and He desires for us to sincerely repent for our sins. When we repent, we are not merely sorry we have sinned. Repentance should mean that we desire to turn completely in a new direction and become obedient to God. I think this is another important reminder that will help me to start the year walking in God's wisdom.
Throughout this book, the author ask simple questions about the lessons Proverbs teaches that will help us reflect and ask ourselves how we are living relative to the principle in that section of the book. I always love a book that helps me consider which part that I still need to work on and start finding ways to apply these lessons practically. I love how the author encourage us to have a meeting with ourselves occasionally to examine our heart and motives. I personally enjoy writing in my journal to keep my thoughts and actions in check and analyze whether I've made wise decisions or not. The author assured us that we need to keep making good choices even if it doesn't appear to be producing the desired outcome in the moment; because in due time, it will. 😊
"The Book of Proverbs is a wonderful book of the Bible, filled with practical wisdom for everyday living. Remember: Wise people do now what they will be satisfied later in life. To walk in wisdom is to live without regret."
One of the main takeaways from this book is the statement that says: Wisdom always thinks about the result of our actions and asks: 'Will I be satisfied later with what I choose today?'. By living a life full of wisdom, we will be able to live without regrets. And since God has already given us the instructions that we need in His Word, we should refer to it and live for God and His will instead of living our lives carelessly. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and learned so much from it. The writing style is very easy to read and the author also gives practical examples which helps us to understand the message better. I think this book will be a great companion for those who want to read through the book of Proverbs.

This book is a good supplement to the book of Proverbs in the Holy Bible. Pastor Joyce Meyer synergizes her experience and wisdom in Life Changing Truths in the Book of Proverbs. Fear of the Lord and making the right choice at the right time is key. We should resist the devil when he first begins to lead us off course (1 Peter 5:9). Try to be diligent and make positive change in your life. Chose our friends carefully and avoid sexual immorality. Cast our cares on God. "Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil." Proverbs 3:7 A wise person makes and maintains peace. " And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." James 3:18 Overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21)
Focus on what is most important in your life. "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." Proverbs 4: 25:27
"God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 Flee from temptation.
A cure for laziness is action. Lazy people blame others. It is important for elderly people to keep moving. Moderation is key. Joyce said they will live longer. "He rewards those who earnestly seek him." God rewards those who diligently seek him.
The importance of keeping commandments is mentioned in this book. Avoiding gossip, patience and prudence (thinking ahead) are discussed as well.
Think about what God has done in your life. Not remembering the acts of God was a major problem for the Isrealites'."did not remember the Lord their God, who had rescued them from the hands of all their enemies on every side." Judges 8:34 "A man reaps what he sows." Galations 6:7
Pastor Meyer said that obedience to God saves us trouble in the future. She discussed the importance of discretion, honesty, humility, integrity, keeping promises, kindness, generosity, hope. listening, forgiveness, peace, self-control and trusting God. Choose your friends wisely. Love covers offenses. Noah's sons (Sham and Japheth) covered his father's nakedness/mistake in Genesis 8-9. Honor your parents.
"Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out." Proverbs 17:14 Giving is a way to avoid greed and being self-centered. God likes a cheerful giver. Spend time with people you admire. God first, then family, they work said pastor Meyer. Prosperity goes beyond possessions and wealth; good relationships with God and other people is key. Avoid advice from the ungodly (Psalm 1:1). Pray for our enemies. "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Matthew 5:44 and Luke 6:35 Joyce said that hurting people hurt people. Trust God Seek and you will find (Matthew 7-7) Moderation in all things is most important.

Don't compare yourselves to others and stay in your lane. Jealousy is a waste of energy and hinders people. (10th Commandment) Be content and thankful. The importance of courage and making changes when needed. Be God Dependent. Please God rather than people. Stay within your God given abilities and you will be successful and at ease.
The importance of a virtuous wife is discussed as well. "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life." Proverbs 31:11-12

In Search of Wisdom, Joyce Meyer has written a brand-new book on Proverbs. King Solomon wrote most of the book of Proverbs with the except of chapter 30 being written by Agur and chapter 31 written by King Lemuel. It was compiled over a period of 200 years. She shared how we can learn a great deal of wisdom from Proverbs. It discussed how to treat people, power of our words, managing our finances, marriage life, handing offenses, laziness, discipline, and much more. She begins the book by revealing 7 foundational principles found in Proverbs: wisdom, understanding, prudence, knowledge, discretion, and discernment. She did a detail study on what each of these means and how we look for each of these repeatedly in studying Proverbs. She explored each chapter of Proverbs throughout the book. She first defined the meaning behind the word, “fool” and did so in today’s terms. Basically, it means a fool is morally deficient and makes poor decisions. Joyce explained how the Bible described wisdom as a she and how wisdom reflected God’s thoughts.
One of my favorite topics was one on the thirty saying of the wise and how detailed she went into each. She started with Proverbs 22:17-21 and this discussed listening to Godly counsel and trusting the Lord. We are instructed to be honest and speak the truth and bring back truthful reports to people we serve. Joyce shared a personal story about how at one time she was asked by her boss at the time to lie for him. She told him no and she admitted she was worried that she would be fired over it. She eventually instead received a promotion and she felt like she did because she was honest and refused to be dishonest. She explained to readers how we all serve someone who we work for. But at the end of the day, we all serve God.
I would recommend this awesome devotional type study to anyone who is ready to gain more wisdom in their lives. Proverbs contains vast knowledge on how we can live our lives and grow into the person God created us to be. I immensely loved how she looked at the topic of the power of our words and how gossip can damage people and relationships. I enjoyed how she reminded readers to think Godly thoughts and to focus on what we are thinking about because they will eventually become words that will leave our mouths. We can choose to speak life and hope out unto a dying world. I also liked how she looked at laziness and people who are passive in life. She encouraged readers to follow the Biblical principle and that the diligent will prosper in life. This book will be extremely helpful in applying the wisdom and Biblical principles found in the book of Proverbs. Joyce Meyer does a wonderful job at diving into the lessons. I liked how she included countless everyday examples to help readers to understand what they were reading in Proverbs. This book is a book that is meant to be studied in depth where readers can gain the knowledge and the wisdom that God wants us to have.

In Search of Wisdom: Life-Changing Truths in the Book of Proverbs by Joyce Meyer serves as a beautiful map of the book of Proverbs!
This is an excellent book that imparts practical wisdom on how to make daily decisions that will grow us closer to the Lord and keep us physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe. In the author’s usual manner of concise Biblical teaching, Joyce Meyer clearly defines that in order to obtain wisdom, we must first understand that by definition, “wisdom is not just the ‘gathering’ of knowledge, but the ‘proper use’ of knowledge.
The work is organized into chapters that coincide with the book of Proverbs. The idea is that there are seven basic foundational principles to gain wisdom. If we can practice these principles, we will gain a deeper Biblical comprehension and thereby strengthen our walk with the Lord, which in turn, will help us manage our lives better. The principles uncovered within the book of Proverbs are: wisdom itself, understanding, prudence, knowledge, discretion, discernment, and the fear of the Lord.
What I love about this latest teaching treasure, besides it’s extremely timely release in a day where we are surrounded by confusion and turmoil, is the unashamed way that the truths of the Bible are addressed head on. Joyce does not mix words about hot topics, but rather addresses them directly from a Biblical stance. She reminds us that the fruits of our actions when we follow the guidance within the book of Proverbs, will be a blessing to not only our own life, but the lives we come in contact with on a daily basis.
My take away from the book In Search of Wisdom is threefold. First, the book serves as an uplifting reminder that God has given us an instructional manual within the book of Proverbs that is as relevant today as it was at the time of it’s initial writing. In our shifting world of unstable ideas, it is a beautiful gift to find a concrete list of behaviors that will help us live safe, content, abundant lives. Second, this latest work by Joyce Meyer could easily be used in a small group Bible study of Proverbs. There is enough material within each chapter to spark lots of exploration of God’s Word and open dialogue about how that applies to our lives. Finally, the book is one of encouragement and inspiration. As time goes by and life delivers new challenges, the reader will find new nuggets of truth and fresh perspective to handle many situations; it is a book that can easily be reread many times over!

Joyce Meyer has always been my go to refresher for all things religious. I've never read one of her books that I've not truly enjoyed and this newest piece, In Search of Wisdom was no different.
Joyce has a way of bringing that reality check, to treat your brothers and sisters as your own, to live in faith, to love oneself as you are to love another.
What I found here was the biblical proverbs that were broken down into simpler lingo and how each of us must not just act as if we care about the impoverished but do our part to offer a hand up.
I've seen so much during my 20 years volunteering on the front line at food banks, soup kitchens, shelters, and more.
We cannot be Christians if we simply ignore the plight of the common man/woman/child.
We cannot judge and become jury as we've all sinned and non of us are without sin so how can we cast judgement upon others?
How do we begin to heal past traumas and move forward in a world full of hatred, anger, and mental illness? How do we as women assure our daughters that their lives hold value, that they're not body parts, that they're to be placed on high like our Virgin Mother Mary?
How do we rectify the sexual abuse in our churches and the hidden don't see don't tell motto that's so prevalent today?
This is not discussed but I'm hoping in the future it might be addressed because as a minister of hospitality I can only base my life upon my own personal experiences that have been lived, endured, and survived.
My life became one of daily survival and I must note while I was homeless, bankrupt, extreme poverty stricken I sent my kids to a private school thankfully based on tuition assistance. However, it's sad when they'd request canned goods, monetary donations, and major purchases knowing that not everyone comes from such wealth. While my kids attended these private schools we were and still are extremely poor and that shouldn't be lost here in discussion.
In addition, Wisdom for me was knowing during Sunday Morning Mass as a registered minister of hospitality that my services ended upon older white male ushers literally removing the collection basket out of my hands during the mass simply because they wanted all MALE ushers.
Upon opening up the dialogue with the vicar/Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton I was informed that these men, "need time to come around to this new line of thinking."
I was then sent a letter not long after saying, "It's been brought to my attention you're no longer a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola in Kingston, Pennsylvania."
We are still being ruled by old philosophies, teachings, and proverbs and I can only pray that women and children are protected because we are in a losing battle.

In Search of Wisdom is a beautiful and thought-provoking study of the book of Proverbs. It should be read in conjunction with the Biblical book of Proverbs. I have always though the book of Proverbs was solely written by Solomon, but I learned in the introduction that Solomon wrote the first twenty-nine Proverbs except for a bit in the middle written by two sages. In Search of Wisdom has a chapter for each book of Proverbs. Each chapter explains the main principles that are included in the book of Proverbs and provides some questions to make you think about how it applies to your own life. In the introduction, Meyers discusses what she believes are the seven foundational principles that are found throughout the book of Proverbs. These foundational principles include wisdom, understanding, prudence, knowledge, and discretion, discernment, and the fear of the Lord. I like how the first book of Wisdom taught that “but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” I also like how Meyers brought scripture in from the New Testament to explain some of the Proverbs.
I had not read Proverbs for quite awhile and they have so many good tips. They focus a lot on not committing adultery, but there are other great tips such as not cosigning for someone else’s debt, not being a false witness who lies, not being lazy, having integrity, choosing your friends wisely, being happy with your life etc. They are good standards to live by to be a decent human being.
I thought the discussion on Proverb 13 on sparing the rod and spoil the child was interesting. It said that too many parents used this as an excuse to beat your child, but it just means that you need to discipline your child. It said that rod was one that shepherds used to tap the legs of sheep if they veered off the path. I have heard this phrase often, but I never knew the true meaning behind it.

Overall, In Search of Wisdom is a good supplement to the book of Proverbs and gives the reader a lot to think about to live life as a good and faithful person. I recommend it.

The book of Proverbs is one that is full of life application, but is often overlooked when we study our Bibles. I have been enjoying going through In Search of Wisdom by Joyce Meyer as I read through this book of wisdom. In Search of Wisdom goes through the book of Proverbs chapter by chapter, so there are 31 chapters in the book. It is like a commentary in a conversational format. I like the style of the book, as well as that it has me reading a chapter in my Bible before I read each chapter of the book. It has also encouraged me to dig deeper into scripture using some of my study Bibles. Each chapter is about 8-9 pages long, so it is not overwhelming to read, and it easily keeps my interest. Meyer also includes personal stories to keep the reader engaged. She bases most of the book on what she calls the "seven foundational principles" of Proverbs: wisdom, understanding, prudence, knowledge, discretion, discernment, and the fear of the Lord.
Some quotes that stood out to me as I was reading were:
"Wisdom waits, discretion and discernment must wait and listen before taking action, and the type of understanding and knowledge spoken of in Proverbs requires waiting and searching. If we desire these qualities to operate in our lives, we must commit to slowing down. We will need to stop multitasking and learn to enjoy times of solitude and blessed quiet to think sincerely and throughly about actions we will take, remembering that each action produces a result."
"Instead of putting undue stress on people by using your words to pressure them to be perfect or to please you all the time, speak in ways that show them mercy and cover their offenses."
"We belong to God, not to ourselves. He gives us free will and wants us to use that ability to choose to serve him and and to follow His will for our lives."

We are reminded too that in order to follow the wisdom Proverbs offers, we need to be willing to obey God’s Word no matter how we feel, what we think, or what we want.
We are reminded too that wisdom is both an Old and New Testament Principle. It is pointed out too that Understanding refers to the rational rather than the emotional, and it is closely linked to knowledge.
Prudence is also defined as forethought (thinking ahead) and foresight (seeing ahead). It is also the ability to use reason to govern and discipline ourselves.
Discernment is also defined, it is defined as to discern means to distinguish or separate so as to investigate; to examine, scrutinize, or question.
It is also pointed out that Fearing the Lord does not mean we should be afraid of the Lord, as the word fear would indicate in today’s usage, for He is good and would never harm us. However, we should have a reverential fear and worshipful awe of the mighty God we serve.
It is pointed out in this book too that parents can be a source of wisdom. We are also reminded of the importance of not giving into the enticement of sinful people.
The importance of making listening and following wisdom a priority in our lives is also highlighted.
The importance of having friends who build you up, rather than tear you down is also highlighted.
We are also reminded of the importance of living our lives with an awareness that God is ever present.
We are reminded too of the importance of a balance between work and rest. We are reminded too that love is a living thing. It must be active rather than stagnant.
I give In Search of Wisdom, five out of five stars!

Wisdom. What comes to mind when you hear that word?
Knowledge?
Correction?
Advice?
Guidance?
Understanding?
Insight?
Perspective?
Some of the above?
All of the above?
For me, wisdom is the stuff of champions. Joyce Meyer says it like this: “it’s making the right choice at the right time.” I'll further add it's knowing what to say, when to say it and how to say it.
And let me be the first to admit that I have not always made the right choice at the right time. I definitely intend to and attempt to but sometimes anger/frustration/pettiness/pride gets the best of me. And that’s why I need wisdom.
The Book of Proverbs contains thirty-one Proverbs written to equip and empower you to live your best life both spiritually and practically. They are love letters to your soul, nutrient-dense soul food for your life.
For some, the idea of reading the Bible is beyond boring. I used to be in that category. That is until I actually started reading it and discovered that it is a treasure chest filled with golden nuggets.
When we know better, we can choose better. And when we choose better, we can live better and love better.
In her latest release, Joyce Meyer unpacks the Book of Proverbs with each chapter dedicated to one Proverb. Readers are encouraged to read each chapter after they’ve read the corresponding Proverb. This book is like a shovel that helps you dig deeper into what God has to say about the various facets of life. There is so much life-nourishing, life-giving, life-transforming goodness to be found.

When I can find a book that can help me with my Bible study I get excited. Especially when the author is Joyce Meyer. You see Ms. Meyer writes just like she speaks...in a down to earth way. It's like we are sitting down over a cup of coffee and she opens up her Bible and shares everything she knows with me. Her newest book takes on the Book of Proverbs and it is so enlightening.
My favorite Proverb verses are 3:5 & 6, [5] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. I couldn't wait to read what Ms. Meyer had to say about these verses. Of course, she shared the obvious that we need to trust the Lord with all our heart and to not rely on our own understanding, but acknowledge Him and He would guide us. What she did say is when we lean on what we know we often start trying to reason things in our own minds and then we get frustrated and confused. Ms. Meyer said she has a rule concerning reasoning and that is she allows herself to ponder it and ask God to reveal hidden things but when she doesn't get an answer from God she knows it is time to cast her cares on God.
In Chapter 22:17 through the end of Chapter 24, Ms. Meyer lists the 30 sayings of the wise by paraphrasing them. She encourages her reader to read them more deeply on their own.
The entire book covers each chapter of Proverbs and is a great tool to use for Bible study. I can hardly wait to use it as a companion to my study of Proverbs.
I would highly recommend picking up a copy of In Search of Wisdom, especially if you want to achieve a better understanding of the truths that are in Proverbs.

Remember Isaiah 55:9, "Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, God's thoughts and God's ways are higher than yours," and 1 Corinthians 13:12, "Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror..."
The author has written a work that will open your eyes to the knowledge and treasure to be found in the words of Proverbs. I recommend this 5-star book to anyone who wants to get more out of reading this book!
