Or rather I used to be until I started dating fellow time-traveling witch, Detective Michael Cooper. Now he’s got my head scrambled, and my heart filled with feelings—ew.
You know what I need?
A good cold-case to solve.
Luckily one falls in my lap, or make that passes out at my feet. Four crimes, two deaths, and only one thing in common, the zip code.
Are supernaturals being cursed, or is it something worse?
I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.
My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!
Play for Time is a great book. I loved the main character Vee, who is a time traveling witch. I first met her in Better Witch Next Time. Vee now has a time traveling Detective Cooper.
They are headed to 1960's and this is one complicated mystery. Multiple crimes and suspects.
The author crafts a well written story with complex characters.
I had no guess as to who the murderer was. A great story with some twists that I did not see coming.
Play for Time brings back time traveling witch Vee Harper and Detective Michael Cooper. A weekend away together in 1960s Chicago turns into a case for Vee as two people have died and one attacked before they arrive. Vee just cannot stop investigating. A complicated little mystery with supportive secondary characters made this a fun read.
This is the first full book I’ve read by Stephanie Damore. I did read a short story which was part of a Halloween Anthology.
Time traveling witches and wizards who solve crimes, shapeshifters, a wedding between a wizard and a shapeshifter in 1960, and murder, make for a delightful story. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop reading until I completed it! I loved the characters, the story, and the writing style!
I’m going to have to read more books in this fascinating series!
Vee Harper is a Time Ttraveleing Witch investigator and with her boyfriend Michael who is a Time Traveling detective they go back into the 60s to go to his best friend's wedding. Looking for a relaxing fun vacation, and in spite of Vee's insecurities, they go. We meet some very interesting and quirky characters including the parents of the groom and the parents of the bride! When Vee is in an Italian Bakery and the bridal party walks in to check on the bridal cake, she introduces herself to them and tries to calm the bride down when she wants a new cake made because the bridal cake that was ordered and made was to her father's liking. Solving the problem for the bride by asking the baker if they can have a smaller cake to the bride's liking in addition to the one made. When they were offered a tasting, the maid of honor takes the first bite and drops unconscious to the floor. Now we have a problem because it seems she was poisoned. But, something isn't right. Vee finds out that there were more seemingly poisoned with similar symptons. Vee decides she must look into it, but doesn't tell Michael because she wants him to relax. With lots of twists and turns and unusual events, Vee is on the case! So many things happen, and there is so much animosity that we are taken down the rabbit hole. So many red-herrings and twists and turns, you can't figure it out until the end. I can't wait to see what Vee and Michael get into next! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Some passed away, while others later were ok. Vee decides to look into this while doing the wedding. Vee will try to figure out how all these people connect and who is behind these attacks. Things will get dangerous for Vee will going through suspects.
This was a good book. This book gives you several suspects and you will not know the true culprit until the very end. This is a nice, clean mystery that will make you smile.
I received an ARC copy of this book and this my honest review
I have never read a Stephanie Damore book that I haven't LOVED! All of her books as such fun, tons of humor, engaging stories, and regardless of the length, end up being a short read because you just can't put the book down, and Play for Time is no exception! As always, a great story that kept me guessing about who the killer might be, just the right amount of twists and subplots but not too many, so as not to detract, confuse or get too busy. There is never a spoiler in my reviews so here's what you need to know: Entertaining story and characters, plenty of danger and twists, good clean fun that will make you want to read more of this author's books. I was fortunate to receive an advance copy and have elected to post a review. Even if paranormal/witches is not in your normal repertoire, this is not a book you want to miss, it will change the way you think (totally for the better) about this type of cozy mystery!
I’m Vee Harper, and I’m the job. You know the drill. 1960 is my time, to solve this heinous crime. You coming?
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is my first A Witch in Time book and I am hooked!
Vee Harper is a smart, witty time traveling witch. As an investigator for the Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities, she goes back in time to solve mysteries. This time, Vee and her warlock detective boyfriend Michael travel to 1960’s Chicago to attend a wedding. An unfortunate series of events ensue, including murder, leaving Vee to find the culprit.
I could not stop reading this funny, fast paced book. Stephanie Damore has created a cast of interesting, quirky characters. She also has mastered visual storytelling. I actually laughed out loud at a scene involving Ruthie and Adam, both shape shifters! The plot is full of twists and kept me guessing till the end.
I recommend Play for Time. If you enjoy paranormal mysteries with strong, likable characters, a bit of romance, this is a book for you!
Val and Michael are off to a wedding. He's best man - in 1960 - and Val is meant to be his "plus one".
Turns out the wedding has more than a couple of problems. It's a good thing Val and Michael are part of the party. Jim's an old friend of Michael's and has asked him to be the best man. Val was invited along as his plus one, but turns out there's another role in store. Going back in time can have its hazards.
This quirky adventure filled with zany characters is a super natural minefield but Val is determined to figure out what's happening.
A quick read, with a few red herrings, this one is a lot of fun!
[Many thanks to the author for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not required to write a review. This is my honest review, the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.]
This is one of my favorite series and Vee and Michael are one of my favorite magical couples and this book did not disappoint. Time traveling brings a whole new meaning to “long distance” relationship. This time Vee travels back to 1960s Chicago to attend a wedding with Michael. It’s supposed to be a relaxing personal trip but it turns out to be anything but. A real page turner. I couldn’t put it down. The mystery was great and I was definitely shocked by the killer. My mind never went in that direction. Stephanie Damore did an outstanding job with red herrings. She also did a tremendous amount of research on 1960s Chicago (or she lived there at the that time and has a super amazing memory). I felt like I was right there. I can’t say enough good things about this book and I hope we’ll see more of Vee and Michael in more stories.
I love this series! The time travel aspect to solve crimes is so fun! The characters are interesting and very likable. Vee and Michael’s relationship brings new meaning to a long distance relationship! I can’t wait to see how they make their relationship work across the decades that separate their respective real life time periods.
Vee travels with Michael to a wedding in Chicago in his time period of 1960. While there she stumbles across 4 seemingly interconnected crimes against supernaturals. Will she have enough time to figure things out before her time in Chicago comes to an end? Pick up the book and find out!
In Play For Time, the magical couple Vee and Michael head to 1960s Chicago for his friend's wedding. I love these characters and their special powers. Vee is nervous until a case lands at her feet in the bakery. Two deaths, four victims and seemingly no connections to relate them. While Michael does groom things with Jim, Vee works on the case and also comes to the bride's aid on several occasions. I could not put the book down so I read straight through. I never did untangle the clues and name the culprit!
Murder, magic and mayhem make an appearance at Jim and Mary's wedding! Fret not, author Stephanie Damore's newest sleuth - Time Traveling witch Vee Harper - puts her supernatural PI talents to work giving readers a fast paced mystery with more than a few red herrings to blur our abilities to solve the case! Challenging, entertaining and hard to put down best describe Play For Time. Highly recommend.
This is an interesting series unlike any I've run across before. The premise is a small group of witches who can use magic to time travel. They use this ability to solve cold cases involving magical crimes. The unusual thing is each investigator is written by a different author. Thus far I have only read Ms Damore's point of view, but I am going to seek out the others as I enjoyed these 3 volumes. The book are short easy reads and quite fun.
I loved Play For Time! This is such a fun and interesting book. The characters are fantastic. I love Vee. There are so many entertaining and hilarious scenes. The mystery is complex and has many twists and turns that you are kept guessing right until the end. This series is wonderful and I look forward to more books to the future!
I enjoyed this book. It was a nice read. The characters were well written and believable. It flowed well and it held my interest throughout the story. This is the first book from this author and there was enough information for me to follow along. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary review.
When you're a witch who solves cold cases, you never know where, or when, your job will take you. This time, Vee starts out on a real vacation, but becomes embroiled in a case. Can she solve it before it's too late?
Excellent paranormal mystery. Well written, interesting characters and I had no idea who the bad guy was until the reveal. I like Vee and Michael and hope there will be more adventures with them.
The second book in this multi-author series that is by Damore. Enjoyable characters with a mystery that is complex enough to keep your attention and be a bit of a surprise also. I enjoy this author enough to check into her other series.
Stephanie Damore has another hit with this book!! I could not put it down and finished in 1 day and I bet you would too!! I was given an ARC from the author, however this is my honest review.
Michael invites Vee to his friend Jim's wedding. Something is going on behind the scenes, however, and Vee can't drop it when guests are dropping like flies...
