Quite the story of determination and endurance. The romance of the pioneer is dispelled and the formidable challenges of exploring deepest africa are the focus here. I feel Livingstone's indomitable spirit is quite emblematic of the Scottish people. Despite the odds or the conditions, we are a people who will not quit when their mind is set. His journals are quoted frequently which leaves you in no doubt as to his mental states throughout his lifelong expeditions into the interior. A remarkable man who became obsessed with fighting the slave trade.
