About the author

KATE KENNELLY started writing creatively when she was ten years old. She let a bad grade on a creative writing project in seventh grade get her down and stopped writing altogether. Many years later, now suffering from chronic pain, someone asked her “When are you not in pain?” The answer was “When I do creative things.” Kate challenged herself to sit down and write something – anything – for the therapeutic value. Thirteen chapters later, not only was she writing, but she was reading books on writing, watching YouTube videos, learning all she could to try and craft a good story.

In her free time, Kate loves to Irish dance, play fiddle, do yoga, meditate and play World of Warcraft with her book club friends.

You might look at the page count and think this is a short episode, but it is packed! Picking up after the events of book 3, Attempt is a very apt title. Charlotte is trying, really trying, but in all aspects of her life, things are not going to plan. Attempts to improve the kingdom are not moving fast enough. Her attempt at an alliance is not what she wants it to be, an assassins attempt leads to actions she attempted to avoid. An attempts at mental healing is not what she wants it to be. An attempt at another connection, well, there might be something there.

This book deals openly and candidly with PTSD as well, discussing various causes, how it affects different people differently, different ways of dealing with it, and the pros and cons associated. It is a central theme with Charlotte, as reflected in the series title.

This is book 4 of 8 in a serial and they really need to be read in order. Short, fast, immersive reads.

Sorcery of Madness: A YA Fantasy Romance: Episode 4: Attempt, my fourth read from author Kate Kennelly. Action & intrigue pick-up from the third book, continuing the story. After reading this book I look forward to reading more in this serial and from this author, I have to admit I'm on tenterhooks waiting 4 weeks between releases.
