Plagued with removing his own memory, Darayan, former Gorgon and Layos native has fled Rivalex to live a peaceful life on planet Sari with his Sarinese friend Archibel, under the alias of Duke and Polie of Hyravane. After strange feelings overtake Darayan and memories serve to return, something sets off a spark in the universe and his current homeworld becomes invaded. A sub-story running the same timeframe as the Kaianan trilogy, here we see a young man delving into his past, understanding his purpose, and accepting the fate which intertwines him with the Rivalex Mark herself.
Invasion. Bloodshed. Everyone, missing. His world, upside down.
The Felrin Galaxy, after fifty After Aura years, is reborn.
Young Rassendean was living an ordinary military life on his home planet before invasion upended everything he’d ever known and separated him from everyone he’d ever loved...
Meeting the enigmatic Cerulean as he is rescued and chartered away from home, he is thrust into the Siliou universe at rapid pace and surrendered to the Felrin mandate after being apprehended by the Liege…
Alongside his new friends, Rassendean must navigate the stringent Felrin system, attempt to learn his history, battle Verticals, and build a network of trusted alliances to escape…
With each passing day of training, an elite aura power builds within him, giving him the confidence to challenge his captors and escape, but uncomfortable surmounting feelings keep him distracted and in two minds. Will she, or won’t she join him? Rassendean must use every ounce of his wisdom to decide where his fealty lies …
Destined bonds break. Family become liars. Friends become rebellion instigators. Lovers become strangers. Traitors become heroes.
There is only one way to avenge not only his planet and people but the entire universe: kill the Felrin.
Cara Violet amazes again with this companion novel to the Kaianan Trilogy. It is rare that we are able to get a glimpse into the background operations of battles and war, and with Darayan, Violet was able to show us things that authors rarely think about. I don't want to go too into detail about it as I feel that everything I say could be spoilery, but there is a new character to be added to my favourites list.
And, of course, I still want Cuki merch, and I nearly spat my drink when he yelled "Coo Wee"!
