Private detective by day. Demon hunter by night. Danika Frost leads a complicated life.

When Dani accepts a missing person's case, she expects the usual culprits—money, drugs, or secret affair. Instead, she finds herself drawn deeper into Blackthorn city's shadowy underworld.

With the help of the Ink, ancient spirits who live in her skin as tattoos, Dani follows the investigation to the last place she wants to be: a nightclub owned by her ex-boyfriend. Their reunion is explosive, but it's the least of her concerns when bodies start piling up in the city morgue, each branded with the same demonic sigil.

As the evidence points to a rare demon, Dani realizes that she can't solve this case on her own. In order to find the missing girl and stop the necromancers before their demon grows too powerful, Dani must decide who she trusts—the man who broke her heart or the naïve detective who wants to mend it.

Inked is the electrifying first novel in the Danika Frost urban fantasy series, perfect for fans of high-octane action, riveting romance, and unforgettable characters.

I actually found these books in audio form on Spotify, and thought it might be worth a listen. They have just enough action, drama and a touch of romance.
I ended up really enjoying them, and have now listened to both!
Now I need to find another book to listen to on Spotify! Any suggestions?

This book is so unique. Tattoos that come to life? Yes please!

It’s full of kick ass action, plenty of laughs and even some tears too. Team Raj all the way.

For me this was like a cross between Veronica Mars meets Charmed meets BTVS so if you are a fan of any of those shows/books then this book is so up your street.

I finished this last night, just before bed. It's almost lunchtime now and I had to really concentrate to remember enough about the book to write this review. It's not that the book was bad, but it left very little impression. I thought the idea of the ink spirits inhabiting Danika's skin was interesting, but it's hardly utilized at all in the story. I thought being a demon fighter was also a cool idea, but she spends very little time fighting demons. I liked both love interests, but no romance ever really develops. The villain is suitably evil, but he never feels particularly relevant. All and all, I found this a mechanically competent book, but one that left me feeling distinctly uninspired for more.

DNF at 7%. I found the narrator to be annoying. And the story didn’t suck me in enough to make it worth it. The heroine just doesn’t come off as smart and clever and I just don’t want to.

Mercy Thompson meets Janet Evanovich in this quick paced urban fantasy. Danica Frost is the Ink Carrier, latest in the line of women tasked with defending our world from demons and the necromancers who bargain for their power. When a demon leaves a long trail of dead bodies in his wake, it will take more than her magical tattoos to find and deal with the threat. This book has a great voice and strong story that suffered, for me, from a bit of repetition and a love triangle that wasn't my cup of tea. 3.5⭐️, a solidly good book worth your time.

Hoopla Audiobook.

I think this may qualify as being young adult urban fantasy. This is a prequel novella to the series, but I wanted a taste to see if I’d be interested in book one.

The premise is interesting, with living ink and necromancers and demons. I didn’t quite understand if demons were known to the world or not.

In the summary of book one, Raj is already an ex-boyfriend, so I guess we have an answer as to where that goes.

I didn’t love the narrator of this.

Audiobook review. I liked the story but there were moments that needed the back story sooner rather than later. The characters are likable but complex. Not sure if the former love betrayed the lead character or that they were not compatible because of their stations in life or both. Decent fight scenes. The narrator did a good job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene.

The story is engaging and there is a lot that goes on. The story keeps running with basically no brakes for the main character. My 3 starts is my personal preference for characters to be a little less dumb, a little less "I can save the world, it's all my fault people die, no one can understand or help me" in their thoughts.

I really enjoyed these series in total. I can't believe I can't find any more books in this series. I listened to these books from Spotify which was great. I recommend these book series to other people as well.

This is a solid start to an urban fantasy series. Loved the tattoos and how they help. There is a lot of potential.
