Heartbelt Records #3

Love In Progress

Rate this book
After years of hustling their music and uploading vlogs, Jayce and Blaine have finally landed the record deal of a lifetime.

When the label gets a taste of their chemistry on screen, the album vision is changed from a lyrical tale of two friends to one of a budding romance.
And that’s not all.

Even when the cameras stop rolling, Jayce and Blaine are expected to sell their new story.

The thing is, for Jayce, it’s a little too easy to play the role of 'boyfriend' instead of 'best friend', until he realizes it’s not pretend at all.

With a life-long friendship and life-changing careers on the line, they’ll have to put their feelings aside and fake it ‘til they make it, or watch their dreams go up in flames.

*This friends to lovers romance is a standalone in the Heartbelt Records Series, and can be read as such.

A quite lovable story, with adorable main character, and an easygoing pace.
Jayce and Blaine are newly signed members of the Heartbelt Records and the label put them out as a couple. They don’t mind, they can do that.
Jayce is in love with Blaine for so long, only his best friend is straight, right?
Friendship is the most important thing, only Jayce is hurt on the way. He’s a bit lonely and Blaine is out of reach. He doesn’t know Blaine is watching Jayce more and more in a different way, longing to come closer.

There is a lot of kindness here to find, they have fun, making music and music videos, vlogging, and blogging.
The slow burn was sweet, not my favorite, I’m more about wham bam, but still sweet.
A lovely written best friends to lovers story. They are the kindest and adorable guys.
The secondary characters are well combined through this narrative.
The build-up was really nicely done.
Overall an enjoyable and entertaining story

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the third book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. The one ongoing theme is the record label, and the possible secondary romance of its two front men. That said the first two were a good read, so if you enjoy this, do go back!

Two very best friends who do everything together, and have done so since school, finally hit it big when they sign a record contract. Their previous life consisted of making music, and getting it to pay by creating a Vlog, releasing music online and generally engaging people in their lives. Well, in all but one area, which has been a question mark for a very long time.

Blaine is a big guy, has only had heterosexual relationships, although to be honest not many of those, as he would much rather be with his closest friend, Jayce. Jayce is petit, fem and out. In fact it was being bullied as a young boy that introduced him to his knight, Blaine. Shippers on social media have been holding out for the two of them to be a couple, and whilst they play up to the idea, Jayce knows Blaine is not interested in him in that way ... but maybe things change?

I really enjoyed this story from the music point of view, from dealing with issues of perception as well as the creative process. But it serves to highlight just how close these two guys are, and how something needs to give for them to be fully true to the romance as well as the love which is between them.

Cute, hot and very readable, I recommend this to you.

3.5 STARS

Love in Progress is the third book in the Heartbelt Records series. The first two need to be read together as a duet but Love in Progress can be read as a stand alone.

This is Jayce and Blaine's story. They are best friends and have been for years. They spend their time making music and videos about their lives and posting it on their vlog. Celeb and Jason from Heartbelt Records were quick to sign them to the label for the huge following they already have. Their fans have given them the nickname #Jaine. They all think they should be together, Jayce is out and Blaine is straight. The label picks up on their chemistry as well and wants them to pretend they are in a relationship. What starts out as "fake" turns into something more...

I liked these characters. They had a past and depth but they relationship seemed to drag from chapter to chapter. It came down to if one would have said something to the other it would have progressed from there instead of dragging on throughout the book. I did enjoy it more once they were together and the ending was a perfect finish. I look forward to more of this series.

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This is a sweet new adult romance about the changing relationship between two best friends. It’s a romance for GenZ YouTube fans but universal themes of love and friendship make this a story which will also appeal to a much wider audience.

I have to admit that I’m still not entirely sure what Jayce and Blaine actually do on YouTube but it seems to involve a combination of music videos and lifestyle vlogging. We meet the pair just after they are signed for their first recording deal and their lives start to change dramatically. The best friends are sweet and funny and wildly in love with each other - something Blaine would completely deny at the start of the book.

This is a pretty gentle friends to lovers romance. I enjoyed the scenes where they make music and record music videos and I really enjoyed the connection between the two young men. It’s not a complicated read, but it’s entertaining and it made me smile.

Sometimes it takes an outside influence to open your eyes, to show you that sixteen years of friendship has created a solid foundation for the future, but only if you are astute enough to recognize it. Love In Progress by Logan Grey takes us into the lives of two friends, one who identifies as gay, the other as straight, who have been each other’s confidant and protector from an early age.

Vloggers for years, Jayce and Blaine have a huge following with an obsession for #Jaine. It appears that the fans, heck everyone except Jayce and Blaine, see more to their friendship than meets the eye. Jayce dreams for more with Blaine, but compartmentalizes his feelings because he will not survive without Blaine in his life. Being straight, Blaine is oblivious to Jayce’s feelings.

The duo dreams of a music contract but are unwilling to give up their creative control. Then Heartbelt Records offers them the chance of a lifetime and soon they are creating a new album, recording music videos and holding press conferences with all their dreams coming to fruition. Small catch, Heartbelt wants to capitalize on the #Jaine aspect of their vlogging. No problem, they can be “fake” boyfriends. Or can they?

I loved it all… The history between Jayce and Blaine. The friendship that defines them. The secret pining. The protectiveness for each other. The subtle touches and glances. The realization of feelings that sneak up on them. The obscure nudges from outside forces.

Jayce fears that he will struggle to keep his true feelings in their box. He cannot be the one to destroy their friendship. But he must do this. It’s Blaine after all, the guy who has been there, encouraging him every step of the way to be himself. The guy who rescued him from bullies. The guy who knows his Taco Bell order.

Blaine doesn’t have any issue if the fans think there is more to their relationship. Clue number one. A random comment from their album producer opens Blaine’s eyes to an alternate interpretation to their songs, a love story. Clue number two. Wait, what is this feeling churning in his gut as Jayce flirts with Caleb, one of Heartbelt’s owners? Ah, it’s just his protective nature for Jayce. Clue number three. The clues just keep piling up.

Surprisingly it isn’t Blaine who creates a rift between them, but Jayce. Once Blaine recognizes his feelings for what they are, Jayce is unable to believe him. Suddenly his secret desires are in front of him and the risk of accepting them all is too high. There has never been a hint that Blaine is interested in men. However, Blaine doesn’t harp on being straight either.

There is an unpretentious innocence to Jayce and Blaine that leaps off the page, but alongside it is a fierce determination to retain themselves in a world that could adversely taint them. Their friends are grounding forces for them, but in the long run it is their ultimate trust in each other that illuminates the way.

Wow, this all blends together seamlessly creating a flawless awakening and genuine friends-to-lovers romance.

I loved it all… The history between Jayce and Blaine. The friendship that defines them. The secret pining. The protectiveness for each other. The subtle touches and glances. The realization of feelings that sneak up on them. The obscure nudges from outside forces. Oh! And the filming of the music videos is smoldering and revealing. Wow, this all blends together seamlessly creating a flawless awakening and genuine friends-to-lovers romance.

The Heartbelt series by Logan Grey keeps evolving and astonishing me. It all began with the duet between Travis and Bay with The Deeper You Go and The Longer You’ll Stay. Where will it head next? Logan Grey will have to enlighten us to that but, let’s hope that Caleb and Jason get their story told at some point.

Love In Progress can absolutely be read as a standalone in the Heartbelt series. So, if this story or my review grabs your attention, start here. However, in my opinion, you absolutely have to go back to the beginning and catch up. Me, I’m on the lookout for the next in the series, this label is destined for great things.

I love a best friends to lovers book and a love a book centered around a band…Logan Grey’s Love in Progress gave me both! I adored this book and the two main characters so much!

Jayce and Blaine have been best friends since the second grade. They do almost everything together still as adults. They live together, they are a musical duo and have a very popular vlog on YouTube. Blaine is straight, Jayce is gay, and their fans “shipped” them so hard. #Jaine is always trending. Seeing them together filming a vlog, eating a pizza or just sitting on the couch…I get the shipping of these two. They are so committed, affectionate, and dedicated to each other, they’re basically dating without the sex.

After a couple years of YouTube success, this passionate duo has finally been signed to a record deal by Heartbelt Records! It’s time to celebrate and get in the studio and start making their dreams come true. When the tone of their songs come into question a bit…are they romantic love or just friendship songs, they have to decide which direction to take their music and videos in. Blaine has no problems singing songs about romantic love with his adorable best friend. The whole world already thinks they’re a couple. What begins as a way to give young LGBTQ kids music they can relate to makes Blaine wonder how he really feels about his bestie. For Jayce, it makes his love for Blaine harder to deny. This is where I really fell for this book, I loved seeing that friendship spark and begin to burn differently.

This book is so good and it’s so sweetly written. The relationship between Blaine and Jayce is so sincere, affectionate, true and has forever written all over it. I love how comfortable and honest they are with each other. The only thing that’s held back is Jayce’s feelings of romantic love for Blaine. The bond of friendship comes first with these two. Watching them navigate their new career and the budding feelings between them are handled beautifully by this author. I love the value that friendship is given, the care. No one just leaps, there’s much thought behind changing the dynamics of their relationship. Saying that, trust me that when #Jaine sparks, they burn brightly. Jayce and Blaine have electric chemistry both on stage and in the bedroom.

I highly recommend this book. This is a stand-alone, but is Book 3 in the Heartbelt Records series. The only connection each book has is the record company. I’ve already downloaded the first two onto my kindle because I’m very intrigued by them. I’m also really interested in Jason and Caleb the owners of the record label! My fingers are crossed that we’ll get a book about them as well.

This book, which is 3rd in the Heartbelt Series, can definitely be read as a standalone. Bright as a shooting star, singer and vlogger Jayce is celebrating the signing of a lucrative contract along with his best friend and singing partner Blaine. Jayce has secretly loved his BBF for years.

They have a giant fan base on their vlog and their loyal viewers keep thinking they are an actual couple even though the duo have said the opposite several times. Okay, they may tease their followers to keep people tuning in. Blaine is a sweetheart and a natural protector who befriended Jayce when they were just kids. Blaine’s appearance is totally different from his glittery buddy but he is extremely liberal and supportive of the LGBTQA community. He has sung love songs written by Jayce about men even though he has only dated women. He feels love is love and never thought twice about it.

Their largest batch of songs are all romantic in nature and their music producer feels the upcoming debut album would benefit if fans thought Jayce and Blaine were a real item versus just great friends. Since everyone can relate to falling in love, Heartbelt thinks this love angle will make them more relatable. This idea terrifies Jayce as he knows Blaine does not understand the hidden meaning behind the verses to be a tender testimony of Jayce’s true feelings.

The thing about pretending is that it could change your perspective. Blaine is starting to view Jayce differently. He has always appreciated him and enjoyed his company but now he is realizing that Jayce is more than a pal. Jayce who has loved him in silence for so long is not quite ready to embrace his friend’s newly-found emotions. Too much is at stake. How can he be sure Blaine just isn’t getting carried away with their new careers?

The author created two likable and realistic characters that bring out the best in each other. It’s a slow build to find happiness and hopefully, the men will not only believe in each other but also themselves.

Not a lot of angst but there was a bit of should we, shouldn’t we that did slow the pacing of the book for me. It was a sweet and light story that I certainly can recommend. Happy Reading!

"Love in Progress" is the third book in the Heartbelt Records series. The series is centered on a record company that believes in equality and opportunities for a diverse group of artists. This book is about Blaine and Jayce who have been best friends for years. They created their band, Life In Progress, and have been vloggers for a long time.

They have a really close friendship, they are roommates and they spend all their time together. It all began one day when Blaine sees Jayce being bullied. Even as a kid he wanted to protect Jayce... and they had been friends ever since.

The band's fans on youtube are convinced that Blaine and Jayce are a couple. The fans write fanfiction and refer to their couplehood as #Jaine. #JaineISReal becomes a thing! Jayce has a bit of a secret though. He's been in love with Blaine for a very long time, but there's no way he's going to tell him.

I really enjoyed the way that this story unfolded. The two main characters are quite different and I liked the way that they were almost opposite in some ways. Blaine seemed quiet and shy at first but he has a quiet confidence about him that makes it easier for him to take risks and step out of his element. Jayce is fierier and emotional, but he relies on Blaine a lot for the solidity of their friendship.

This book is sweet and doesn't have a lot of drama - so that's great. It's a lovely, slow-burn romance. The author does a great job of capturing the banter and friendship between Blaine and Jayce - I could read about them forever! They were adorable from the very beginning of the book.

I really liked the idea that a small indie band could get a lucky break from a decent record company! I have a feeling the music industry is a bit cutthroat and it's a pleasure to read this type of story. I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the series!

This book includes a teaser for what might be coming in the future! Read this series! You'll love it!

Love In Progress, the third book in the Heartbelt Records series, is a wonderful slow burn romance. This Logan Grey book is fun, sweet, and enjoyable from the start.

This is a friends to lovers romance that follows along as two men become famous and face their feelings.

Blaine and Jason. I love these two as a couple. Their backstory is well developed, with Jason having always loved Blaine. We get to follow along as Blaine is suddenly noticing his friend in a new light.

I love everything about this book. I found myself sucked into the strong connection Jason and Blaine have as friends, and I love everything about this sexual awakening journey.

These friends and roommates are such opposites, both in their looks, demeanor, and personalities. They mix well and the author excels in staying true to their characters throughout.

Their work, including their band, their song lyrics, and their vlog, are all well represented. Anyone who follows couples online, or "stan" couples, will love this aspect of the storyline. Reality versus perception is the big issue here, and it's well explored.

This is truly a story of finding out that you and your best friend are meant for each other. It's a story of sexual awakening at it's finest.

This book includes some hot first times and some delightful sexual exploration. And the feelings. Oh my lord, the feelings. They are many and they just jump off the pages.

Love In Progress is a wonderful friends to lovers romance. Definitely check out this Logan Grey book when you're in the mood for something special. This gay for you book is sure to satisfy! As for me, I am excited to re-read it soon.

Love in Progress is the third book in the Heartbelt Records series, but it can certainly be read as a standalone as I did. A bi-awakening/GFY romance, Love in Progress offered loads of chemistry up front along with a well done slow burn love story between long time best friends and bandmates. This was my first book by this author, and the palpable connection, great characters, and good story ensures I will definitely look for more from her in the future.

Friends-to-lovers is one of my very favorite tropes and I absolutely loved Blaine and Jayce together. Their chemistry popped from the start and the mounting longing came through as the story progressed. I loved how both characters’ exploration of their feelings was very honest. While that led to some false starts between these friends, their yearning to chase something more sold the slow build. I also really liked how steady Blaine was throughout the story. His unwavering insistence that his feelings for Jayce were real even though he wasn’t quite sure what to make of his new attraction set this romance apart from others in the bi-awakening/GFY trope.

As much as I loved the slow burn between Jayce and Blaine, I also adored their friendship. The vibrant banter between the men was excellent and often left me smiling. I appreciated that the author took time to develop and showcase how close these two were before focusing on their romantic relationship. Not only did I get a chance to really get to know Jayce and Blaine, but I also had a better understanding why they were reluctant to jeopardize their friendship. If you enjoy palpable chemistry and lots of pining over a love interest plus some sassy banter, I’d definitely recommend Love in Progress.

Another fantastic installment in the Heartbelt Records Series, but this one was hands down my favorite so far!

What is it about friends to lovers that is so satisfying? This was perfection. I haven’t fallen in love with book main characters like this in so long. I adored Blaine and Jayce so much! Their dynamic, their chemistry, their friendship. Everything about them made me happy.

I loved the vlogger angle in this book and being a part of the journey alongside them as they evolve in their craft was super gratifying. The process of recording the music videos was so much fun.

But the thing I loved most about this book was watching Jayce, who’d been in love with his best friend for years, slowly realize and come to terms with the fact that Blaine had developed another level to the way he now saw Jayce. Blaine is always so selfless and takes care of Jayce without even realizing it. When Blaine starts to realize his feelings for his bestie are changing and morphing into more of an attraction, that urge and hunger is totally palpable.

I really loved their story! Thank you to the author and Gay Romance Reviews for my digital arc in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Can I just say that I love Caleb's little misfits match-maker attitude, because now Blaine is looking more at his bestie in a new way. Signing a deal with Heartbelt records  is a dream come true for best friends Blaine and Jayce as their music a different style than what most labels will promote. Jayce has had a crush on his best friend, after all how could he not when Blaine is always willing to defend him. When Caleb pushes them to play up the part of boyfriends for the fans and camera, how far is Blaine willingness going to go for a straight guy. Blaine is having a inner battle over new thoughts of Jayce. finding it harder to pretend that they are just friends as they film for their music video's. The stuggles is real (who me,send help) poor things. Who will break first? Is it worth their friendship? #Jaine! Read to find out more, just love all characters in the heartbelt record series. Can't wait to read more about the artist and co-owners.

Jayce and Blaine get signed to Heartbeat Records and record a new album. With all the hype with their relationship (are they? Aren't they? #jaine) the best friends realise playing it up will help them sell. Jayce who is out and proud struggles with this as he has real feelings for Blaine and Blaine realises he doesn't have to lie, he's in love with Jayce. The tension comes from Jayce not believing Blaine is serious. I loved everything about this, especially the other characters reactions. #jaine was adorable and I loved all the stuff around filming their music videos - they sound so fun!
This series just gets better and better!
Caleb and Jason next please!

My favorite one so far...

This was one of the most adorable friends-to-lovers story I've ever read. Jayce and Blaine have been best friends for 16 years and now they've signed a record deal together. They have always kept their fans on their toes with the "Are they or aren't they" question but when the record label fans that speculation even more...well let's just say that it may leave the 2 protagonists asking the same question.

However, this story is so much more. It's a story about the deep bonds of friendship, of having that person that not only knows you best but accepts you for who you are. Blaine and Jayce know everything about each other - the good, bad and the ugly and seeing their relationship with one another was beyond beautiful. It's a story about acceptance and coming to terms with change and of knowing your home is with your soulmate. I loved every second of this read, page by page I absolutely fell in love with Jayce and Blaine and I envied them. Who doesn't want to have the type of relationship they have? Who wouldn't love to find the person that accepts you, warts and all; who helps you grow and sees you?

If you are in the mood for a wonderful romance that will make you sigh and smile then this is the book for you.

two vloggers/indie musicians get signed to a label and now realize that maybe all those jokes about them dating are closer to the truth than they thought. I really liked how the story included not only the romance part of story of Jayce and Blaine but also showed interactions and relationships out side of Jayce and Blaine and how they clear up Jayce and Blaine's misconceptions. I'm here for no queer pain about coming out and it was great to have just a slow discovery of friends to lovers with the conflict more in deciding how much to intertwine their jobs and their vlogger lives with their actual personal lives.

Another tastefully written MM romance by this author. I really enjoyed this story, so different than the last couple we read about from this author. I love that these two guys were best friends for most of their lives, yet never pushed the boundaries of their friendship into more until they are signed by a new recording company. Now they have to act like they are more than friends, and that's the push they needed to realize how much they really do mean to each other!! A great story, you will definitely want to pick this book up!!

Great story

I really liked this book. It dragged a little sometimes. In my opinion it wouldve been better had Blaine realized his feelings earlier and fought them or something. Id also have liked it better if their relationship began sooner with more back and forth. Maybe I like romance tropes too much lol. I also think it lacked in sexy times. This review spunds all negative but really those are just small details that woyldve made it perfecr for me. Regardless I enjoyed the story and look forward to more from this author.

Blaine and Jayce are so freaking cute. After being best friends for 16 years this duo is inseparable. The music they make together and their vlogging have made them a fan fav. Now they are signed and have to rely on one another more than ever. It test thier friendship I'm ways they didn't expect.

I really enjoyed this friends to lover read. One of my favorite parts was that although their relationship changed in terms of romantically, the Blaine and Jayce that we found so freaking cute at the begging remained.

This was very sweet and a refreshing friends to lovers story. Blaine is starting to realize his new feelings for his best friend. But have the feelings always been there? I loved how they begin to get to know each other in a different light and their love grows while doing what they love best.

Loved it

This was a good third book in the Heartbelt records series. I didn’t love it quite as much as the first two, but it had its own chemistry and good points. I’ve never read a friends to lovers before so thanks for popping that cherry! In a good way, of course.
