I was born and raised on Eastern Long Island in the Westhampton area. My youth was full of adventures since we had miles of woods surrounding my home and we were near the ocean. I attended college at Suny Plattsburgh on an academic scholarship and I am a proud member of Theta Kappa Beta fraternity. I earned a degree in Asian history. My mother told people that I was an educated bum. I spent my working career in consumer products industry and traveled the world. Most of the locations in my books are places I have visited. This has given me great background for my writings. My hobbies include: writing, reading, golf, cooking and even a little gambling as I live in Las Vegas. My basis philosophy is: History repeats itself and you will find that theme in all my books.
All books in the “Dubious” series are an action adventure blended with today’s world issue. In this latest, the topic centers on Rock Nodules. Although part of a series, “A Dubious Rock” can be read on its own.
Mr. Kubicki follows his usual pattern: fast-paced, lots of action, over the top storyline that holds us captive from the opening words to the last and a bunch of loveable and not so loveable characters with some very villain ones to shoot at. Yes, we have a lot of killing, no fear; the scenes are not too descriptive. The story moves along at a good pace and is smoothly said with a clean language. No cuss words from anyone. Mr. Kubicki through the time has mellowed his style when it concerns his female characters. At the beginning they were ridiculously depicted now they are simply badass and very entertaining…
Colton Banyon and his team are called in Long Beach California to solve a mystery: identify a young woman who has been murdered and the enigma behind those strange rocks found at the bottom of her boat. As the case moves on, Colton discovers a huge conspiracy involving many bigwigs…...and the fun begins…enjoy.
"'There are almost as many plots as there are people', continued Colt"
In this, the 33rd book in this fascinating series, Colton Bayan, CEO of Forever Yours and his band of loyal members are actually working for the President. After a dead body is found in scuba gear with a bag of rocks that she was killed for, Homeland Security reluctantly works with Colt, Loni and the rest of the Dewey and Beatem black ops team in sorting out the players with only part of the scorecard. Just where does this corruption start and how far does it reach? Into how many countries? Can Forever Yours (plus 2) stop it?
" I told you the best way to make a friend is to ask a favor" and that favor in turn helps not only Forever Yours but Marta and Tom from Homeland. Marta finds her footing and Tom is pleased with the result.
I was an early fan of Colton Bayan, but I only read a double handful as life got more crowded and I'm really pleased I've gotten reconnected with the series-- and realize I have a number of the ones "in between" sitting in my TBR. But that's what summer reading and life in the world of a pandemic is allowing... time to read. These adventure thrillers are ones I tell my friends about.... Highly Recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book as a gift from the author. It was my choice to read and review it]
A Dubious Rock by Gerald J. Kubicki Really enjoyed this mystery and thought when it first started out it was to be a 1940's war book. Just a dream but it seems all so real. There is so much action and special teams that come to the aid of the police and other forces. Just when you think the Homeland Security team is in the clear they are shot on again and they have to ramp things in. They do have connections and that really helps. Like the subject matter as I did not know much about the rocks at all. Entertaining for me. Especially like the excerpt about the pollution going on in the oceans of our world and a book in the series. Was on the edge of my seat when I heard about the women and how there were able to subdue those after them with their special kicks and other devices they used. They need to set up a school so others can learn from them. Action, adventure, mystery, cartels from all over the world and so much more. Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
Colton is back witht the Forever Ours team! This time it is over tiny nodules of rocks that appears to be worth more than a country. A lot of shooting and running, and I am seriously hoping for some double or triple crossing XD. Still exciting and interesting as always.
