Basically, psychological research of the compositional process revealed studies only in relation to the realm of classical or contemporary music (Newman, n.d.). In the field of jazz, limited scholarly works cross the channels of dialog (e.g., Cooper, 1996; Coolman, 1997; Lalama, 1998; Schroeder, 1993) cited in Newman document. In conjunction, improvisation simulates a “…celebration of the moment,” playful, inquisitive, spontaneity and creativity (Bailey, 1992, p. 142) and the construction of elements culminating a precious whole, educational objectives, synthesis fifth level of Bloom’s taxonomy contained in the six hierarchical cognitive domain providing the learner with creative behavior, (Solman & Rosen, 1954). It is suggested children enrolled in jazz improvisation music activities, more specifically, the Jazz Improvisation Creative Guide Ron Brown Jazz Improvisation Method (independent variable) increase cognitive development as apposed to those enrolled in traditional music activities; (limited studies in jazz improvisation indicates a gap discovered in the music literature provided thus far. Basically, the Jazz Improvisation Creative Guide Ron Brown Jazz Improvisation Method reveals tonal relationships that reduce the overall complexity of jazz improvisation providing the performer with a technique and direct guidance to access personal creativity.
