Oh, Those Boys #1
Boy #1: The Wannabe Rockstar
OH THOSE BOYS ...
Cassandra St. John's boyfriend broke up with her on Valentine's Day - after informing her he was cheating on her - so she made a decision. NO MORE BOYFRIENDS. They're only good for one thing, anyway, and she certainly doesn't need to be in a relationship to get it.
From a musician, to her boss, to Mr. Nice Guy, to many more, Cassie quickly discovers that just because you take the relationship out of the sex, it doesn't necessarily make life easier.
Sometimes it makes it much, much harder.
BOY #1 - The Wannabe Rockstar
Getting dumped x Pent-up sexual frustration + The rock god next door = The BEST sex Cassie's ever had, and even better than that? He's not interested in having a relationship anymore than she is, so they reach an agreement - this will be the one night stand that never ends. Perfect, right?
Except life happens when we least expect it, and the minute Cassie stops looking for love - stops wanting it all together - it comes looking for her.
A light, fast paced, old school, over-the-top romance series packing a sexy punch in a quick read! Oh, those boys ...

5 “You Go Girl” Stars

This author brings it ever time in my book and now as her alter ego, Penny Sixsmith, she nailed it once again!! Boy #1 is a fun, snappy, sexy, fast paced story about dating and meeting the “maybe right” and “maybe wrong” guy. The story quickly grabbed hold of me and I couldn’t put it down.
Cassandra is the rockstar of the story. She’s real, she funny, she’s vulnerable, and she’s unapologetically herself. Micah is the wanna be rockstar and boy did he fit the bill. He’s the bad boy and he and Cass have quite the sexual attraction. Josh, Mr Nice Guy, is sweet, flirtatious, and isn’t fast and furious. This story is not a triangle as there are not any real boyfriend and girlfriend parameters for those worrying about a triangle issue.
If you want a fast, dime store paperback romance, that is Cute - Fun - Sexy - and full of Quick Witted Fabulous Banter that takes your mind off that craziness of our world at the moment, Boy #1 NEEDS to be on your TBR. Because in these crazy times in the world, sexy fun romance and fluffiness helps to readjust your mind and makes you feel good and lightens up your load!!

5 "Don't stop looking at me." Stars
This book was just so much fun. A perfect reprieve from everyday life where you easily become absorbed in the craziness of Cass's (our heroine) world. She's all mixed up and doesn't know which end is up yet she's so poised an put together. She's becoming someone she didn't expect while maintaining her air of class and work ethic. I adored her and the boys she finds herself entangled with from the start of the book. One boy in particular ticks all my romance hero boxes. The writing is charged with passion while infused with humor and is super easy to read. True escapism reading as you dive in Cass's crazy, you'll be sad when it's over and excited for more at the same time!

Penny Sixsmith is Stylo Fantome's alter ego. She's her lighter side and I think I'm in love. I'm a fan of Stylo's writing and the way she isn't afraid to dive into the darker side, but The Wannabe Rockstar is light, fun, sexy and a quick read. I think this series will be the one you reach for for a palate cleanser.
Cassie St John has been dumped and it's Valentine's Day. What kind of douche does that? When she walks up to her apartment, her wall banging neighbor is all but ready to satisfy whatever aggressions she needs to release. Micah Gannis is the loud, rude, wannabe rockstar that is looking only for a lay. He doesn't do relationships, but he sure does like to make a woman scream. He could be just what Cassie needs since she is swearing off men. No strings attached, one-night stand and damn hot sex. So what happens when their one night turns into many nights? The convenience of neighbor sex is explosive, passionate and hate-filled hot fun between these two!
I started this in the early morning hours thinking I’d just read a chapter or two before bed. Nope. I finished the whole dang thing! It was a quick read with characters that I loved and hated and loved again. And with the added twist of ....... well, you'll see? I wasn't expecting that and to be so torn. It should've been obvious. But with a strong and likable heroine in Miss St John, I'm excited to see what's to come in her journey in this series.
This story is a fun and sexy read and a little more than I bargained for. And dang it, why didn’t I realize that it was going to end on that note? Guess I’ll be here for the next one.

Love story riding the surf, That's how I shall describe the rocking story of neighborly love by Stylo Fantôme. She has forever been writing scathingly witty stories that stimulate and tittillate with equal fervor. Having mastered the art of versatility, her books range from romcoms to dark comedies to angsty memorable ones to kinky bdsm, each one a delight to read.
The story is in upheaval from the get go. Cassandra St.John is dumped on Valentine's Day and the target of her pent up frustration is her neighbor, the wickedly sexy Micah Gannis. He loves to bang loudly (and I'm NOT talking about doors), the caterwauling sex sounds causing St.John insomnia!
Proof of the pudding lies in the eating, Dear Watson!!

It's not one thing led to the another night, but two mutually hating neighbours that collide in an explosive passionate romp, which drench the sheets and the pages..oh my!!!
“Well then. Now you're gonna see what all the screaming in my apartment is about.”
Let me state it here, Stylo has written some Hot Sizzling Sex but this one just takes the cake or other food items in the fridge!
They leave no surface un-fucked, no tower un-climbed and no office un-tainted. They're legit like horny rabbits who can't seem to keep their hands off of each other, and I'm like- keep going folks, I'm just gonna sit here all moist and horny, living vicariously through you...oh my!!
She's a suave event planner, he a wannabe rockstar and the third angle in their triangle is.....🤐 NOT gonna tell you!!

“I can't figure out why. We're so fucking different, bro. She's like a beauty contestant, and I'm just some gutter quasi-punk guitarist.
But get this, if you want bursting into flames sex and chopping up your heart frustrating angst, then pick up this book!!

Penny Sixsmith is the pseudonym for Stylo Fantome writing in the contemporary romance genre. Yes, I can attest that the writing quality and the level of angst is definitely on par with her usual works. No fear there, you're definitely getting what you've come to appreciate.
The reader is instantly hooked, empathizing with getting dumped on Valentines day by a cheater, who comes clean right in the restaurant. That's cold, dude! We want more for Cass, who lives next door to a wall-thumping womanizer. She takes her frustrations out on Micah, using him as a glorified blow-up doll.
Angst. Angst. More Angst between Cass and Micah. Addictively delicious angst that makes the reader frustrated, squeezing the life out of ereaders, because of stupid choices, immature behaviors, wrong things said, and childish emotional maturity.
I couldn't put it down, reading the entire book in one sitting, needing to know what ridiculousness Cass and Micah get up to next. A professional woman is rendered brainless by some good D without much upstairs, if you know what I mean. Both making mistakes, both treating others as disposable, including themselves and each other. Both seemingly deserving the disrespect offered.
I will say, on the train wreck front, Micah won that award hands-down, as the most damaged. His kneejerk reactions were to emotionally torture Cass, making the reader more sympathetic to her plight, because what she was doing to others was more subtle, less loud, less in your face destructive, easier to atone.
Book one featured the Wannabe Rocker, with a small taste of what is to come in book two. Yes, I'd say it was on par with a cliffhanger, because I was frustrated beyond belief when it ended, needing more immediately.
The only thing I didn't like was an added bit of angst near the end. While I loved the emotional gut-punch, what I didn't appreciate was the thought that women are just that stupid. 2 plus 2 equals 4. If someone spoke of someone being in a band, someone being your neighbor, someone with specific attributes, then you accidentally didn't realize they were someone specific. Nah, girl (that goes out to the author) Ain't no woman that stupid, and Cass defending it was even more ridiculous. I could see Micah being that clueless, because I actually wonder if he has two brain cells to rub together, but not the other part of the equation. And yeah, I see that setup for future angst a mile away. Obviously I'll ride this out, eager to see where this madness goes, but there was no need for a mugshot for half of the equation to not recognize the other half, if you know what I mean, and I want Cass to get some moxie and realize this too. Nobody gets that much strange without looking exactly like a wall-thumper.
I think book two will be good for Cass, maybe let her brain function for a while.
Truthfully, I do like Cass. I'm not a fan of a nice guy, but Micah will take a lot to be redeemed in my eyes. At this point, I'm not shipping anyone, but that's the point of the series, isn't it?
Can't wait to get my grabby hands on the next installment, and if that ends with another doozy of a cliffhanger, I'll be chomping at the bit for next and the next, until I get to the end.

LOVE HAS NEVER BEEN CRAZIER … SEX & THE CITY 2.0 meets WALLBANGER
“Love was a myth invented by greeting card companies” ~~ Cassie St. John
What a voyeuristic, vicarious read! Hot, steamy, delish and wildly entertaining. Cast aside your pandemic-fueled book slump woes and indulge in a tasty new series by Stylo Fantome (one of my faves!) as Penny Sixsmith! Something entirely new and different from SF. This is the first book in the series and it beguiled me for being a shamelessly mindless, OTT, drama-rama romance that I could really sink my teeth into, forget all the worldwide weirdness around me, and JUST BE ENTERTAINED.
“Adulting is too hard”
Clearly this is a running serial with heroine Cassandra “Cassie” St. John (27) at the heart of a romantic stew that she can’t control. This book about Boy #1 The Wannabe Rocker kicks off with romance that comes a-knocking at her door by not one, but two, distinctly opposite hotties. The gorgeous, put-together event planner is all sleek, classy, and coiffed on the outside … more than meets the eye on the inside (if anyone bothers to dig) … and a real wildcat in bed with the right guy. Next-door neighbor Micah Gannis is a pig extraordinaire manwhore, known mainly for insulting her whenever they cross paths, and banging the devil out of their shared bedroom wall with a string of caterwauling conquests. They’ve never officially met, but despise each other. He judges and dismisses her as a bitch because of her fancy looks, and she has every right to judge him for his crude behavior. You know what they say about “opposites” attract…
That all changes the night Cassie is dumped by her boyfriend during a decidedly unromantic Valentine’s dinner. An ego-bruised girl and her shattered heart still has needs that require some serious release after such a shutdown, and willing Micah is within arm’s reach. And so begins a hate-fueled enemies-with-benefits booty call arrangement that goes on for months with lots of ups and downs. Do they want something more? Is Micah capable of more? Is a 25 year old, comittment-phobe rocker the worst decision of her life? And then, in waltzes some competition – Josh Cavitt (30s). Josh is the male mirror image of Cassie and the good yin to Micah’s bad yang. Suddenly, Cassie finds herself desired by two men with no idea which to pick, if either one.
I grooved on the realness of the situations, the obstacles, the arguments and romance drama, the intimacy and lack thereof. It may be fun, but there’s truth behind the words that I readily identified with, and totally related to Cassie as a smart, career-driven woman stuck in today’s romantic minefield and unwilling to choose love over career – especially with the wrong guy or one who doesn’t deserve her. It felt like a revised Sex & The City 2.0!
Gotta say that I was rooting heavily for one guy – probably the wrong guy – but my heart wants what it wants. Cassie’s dilemma and sexcapades had me hanging on for deal life and glued to the pages for real. How many guys and situations are in her future? Curious about which man she picks … or not? Stay tuned for the continuing saga of Cassie love life in Boy #2: Mr. Nice Guy …

This is book 1 of a new series - and I do hope that we get the next one very soon, as the ending definitely leaves me wanting more!
Cass has a horribly noisy (of the wall banging variety) neighbour, but coming home after being dumped on Valentine's Day, she decides to take advantage of his probable skills. And so starts a crazy, hilarious, and wildly sexy series of hookups. They are both thinking that there could be more, but refuse to admit it to each other, and not that keen even thinking it themselves. Micah really isn't a good bet, so at least Cassie is showing a modicum of good sense!
Roll forward to an event being planned by Cass, at a venue run by a rather desirable, and very flirtatious Josh. Older, secure in himself, and clearly attracted to the 'wanting to remain single' Cassie. As the two men in her life turn out to know each other, we know things are going to get even more complex - but the level of angst is pretty perfect, truth be told.
As things unravel even further, there is a twist which I just don't know how Sixmith will possibly resolve, but that is the joy of reading ... finding out just how far one will let an author lead us down a path, only to reveal the trap door solution we never saw. I cannot wait!

Boy #1 is the first book in the Oh Those Boys series. It's so full of angst and the push and pull of does he, does she moments. I found I was so completely invested in these characters. I couldn't put this one down. I had to know what was going to happen.
Coming home after being dumped on Valentine's Day of all days. Cass has absolutely no desire to deal with the loud neighbor she shares a bedroom wall with. Cass has heard multiple times through said wall how talented Micah is. After the day she's had she has no issues with finding out that it isn't all talk. What was supposed to be a one night thing turns into a regular hook up. What she isn't expecting is to catch the eye of the sexy event center owner. After a few flirty texts and a celebratory dinner she's caught in the which man should she invest her time in. The train wreck neighbor she just can't stay away from or the overly sweet divorcee?
I"m dying to get my hands on the next installment!

The Wannabe Rockstar by Penny Sixsmith (Stylo Fantôme) is hilariously funny and just as sad as the story unfolds on Cassandra St. John's Valentine's Day dinner disaster where she gets dumped by her boyfriend and that sets up her new mantra "no boyfriends, only sex." Considerably drunk Cassandra is having a difficult time opening up the front door to her apartment complex only to have a guy walk up behind her with all kinds of jokes. it turns out he lives here too, it's her obnoxious neighbor, Micah Gannis.
Micah Gannis is the obnoxiously loud next-door neighbor who entertains every night with a different woman in his bed, and that bed must be right next to their shared wall, this is apartment living at it's best. Did I mention that he's loud, tall, dark, handsome, incredibly sexy, and a musician?
This is a light, fast-paced, over the top story of sex, relationships, and romance. This story is what 2020 needs with all the pandemic issues we've been experiencing you can escape into a book!

Boy #1: The Wannabe Rockstar is the first book in the new series: Oh, Those Boys by Penny Sixsmith.
Now, I can appreciate angst and bad boys. I can appreciate some hot, sexy scenes.
What I do not appreciate is adults acting as children, or acting out in tantrums.
Micah is the next door neighbor from hell, sharing a wall with Cassie she knows way too much about him. When Cassie's relationship implodes on Valentine's Day, a quick rage "tryst" with her noisy, rude neighbor is just what's prescribed.
I would've preferred the story to end here, but of course that wouldn't be a story at all.
When Cassie works with a gentleman, a genuine nice guy, her attention is drawn to another man and then everything gets messed up!
As per usual, I'm not going to give anything away as that would ruin the story. I will say that I liked Cassie and could feel the indecision warring within. I can't condone her actions, but I can understand her WHY. Micah...all I can say about him is that he NEEDS to grow up and quick. I want to like him, and I do but also can't stand him. I'm torn.
In conclusion, I do like the characters but don't like their behaviors. I'm hoping Book 2 is a bit more mature, as it contains the nice guy - and he's my pick for her!

Penny Sixsmith is the pseudonym for Stylo Fantôme writing in the contemporary romance genre. Yes, I can attest that the writing quality and the level of angst is definitely on par with her usual works. No fear there, you're definitely getting what you've come to appreciate.
The reader is instantly hooked, empathizing with getting dumped on Valentine’s Day by a cheater, who comes clean right in the restaurant.
Nah, girl (that goes out to the author). Ain't no woman that stupid, and Cass defending it was even more ridiculous. I could see Micah being that clueless because I actually wonder if he has two brain cells to rub together, but not the other part of the equation.

This is book one of a new series – and I do hope that we get the next one very soon, as the ending definitely leaves me wanting more!
Cass has a horribly noisy (of the wall-banging variety) neighbour, but coming home after being dumped on Valentine's Day, she decides to take advantage of his probable skills. And so starts a crazy, hilarious, and wildly sexy series of hookups. They are both thinking that there could be more, but refuse to admit it to each other, and not that keen even thinking it themselves. Micah really isn't a good bet, so at least Cassie is showing a modicum of good sense!
Roll forward to an event being planned by Cass, at a venue run by a rather desirable and very flirtatious Josh. Older, secure in himself, and clearly attracted to the 'wanting to remain single' Cassie. As the two men in her life turn out to know each other, we know things are going to get even more complex – but the level of angst is pretty perfect, truth be told.
As things unravel even further, there is a twist which I just don't know how Sixsmith will possibly resolve, but that is the joy of reading... finding out just how far one will let an author lead us down a path, only to reveal the trapdoor solution we never saw. I cannot wait!

Boy #1: The Wannabe Rock Star is the first book in the Oh, Those Boys series.
After the day she's had, she has no issues with finding out that it isn't all talk. What was supposed to be a one-night thing turns into a regular hookup. What she isn't expecting is to catch the eye of the sexy event center owner. After a few flirty texts and a celebratory dinner, she's caught in the which man should she invest her time in. The train wreck neighbor she just can't stay away from or the overly sweet divorcee?
I’m dying to get my hands on the next installment!

He has his appeal, he’s good looking and is like a god in bed but he says some right nasty crap.
His expectation, you’ll forgive him because he messed up on the regular, is a dumb excuse.
Huge thumb down for me for the Rockstar. Cassie deserves a hell of a lot better.

"And they just kissed. "What was that for?" she whispered when he pulled away - they'd never kissed outside of their building. Micah thought for a second, then finally smiled back at her. "Because you're beautiful."
5 Who do I chose Stars!!! Such a fun, sexy read... I couldn't get enough!
Cassie and Micah are next door neighbors with very thin walls. She's spent years listening to Micah banging women and when they finally meet on Valentine's Day after she was dumped, sparks fly. Their heated night turns into months of quick hook ups. But Micah isn't the man for her, he's completely wrong for her, a rock star with serious relationship issues, but he's a bad boy she can't resist. While working one day she meets good boy Josh who she instantly hits it off with, but someone can't shake her feelings for Micah... Who does she choose? The good boy who's perfect for her or the bad boy her annoys her but makes her feel things she's never felt??
Let me just start this by saying, as much as I wanted to hate Micah I just couldn't. Under that bad boy image, he's got a heart, he just doesn't know how to use it! I loved Cassie and can feel her anguish with her decisions... and that cliffhanger was EVERYTHING!! I don't know how patient I can be waiting for book two, but I'll do it! I can't stress this enough, this book is definitely worth the one click. Penny Sixsmith AKA Stylo Fantome, knows what she's doing, while Sytlo is dark and twisted (which I love), Penny is the sweet side we all just need sometimes!!! Great read... I'm a fan!

Cassandra St. John is done with men. From the boyfriend who dumped her on Valentine's Day, to her slutty jerk of a neighbor, she wants nothing to do with any of them! Well... there is one thing that neighbor might be good for...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Boy #1: The Wannabe Rockstar was the non-stop entertaining read that I have been waiting for! After a truly terrible Valentine's Day, Cassie falls into bed with her absolutely awful (ok, and sexy) neighbor, and they proceed to bang the mutual disdain they share out of each other for the next three months. She has sworn of relationships, he has never even been in one... perfect arrangement, right?! Wrong. Feelings just can't be avoided forever, you two!
I loved Cassie so. freaking. much. She is a well put together businesswoman who refuses to compromise her career or her integrity for anyone... even when the sexy and enigmatic Micah Gannis comes along. Micah is Cassie's neighbor, party boy, and guitarist for a local band, and boy do these two rub each other the wrong way. Until they realize just how great they are in bed together, and then their loathing turns into some hate driven foreplay!
This book absolutely delivered with steamy sex, delightful discord, and all kinds of hooking up, non-relationship, angst! Cassie may have sworn off of relationships, but isn't it just typical that when she stops looking, the men seem to be suddenly coming out of the woodwork? I loved so many things about this book, but I think my favorite aspect by far was Cassie's unwillingness to compromise on the kind of relationship she deserves.
I am ever so impatiently waiting for what is next from the series... bring on more Cassie St. John!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Cassie St. John is an event planner in Washington DC who lives next door to a moody but gorgeous guy named Micah. Micah is prone to having very noisy one-night stands that Cassie gets to listen to loud and clear on the other side of their shared bedroom wall. They run into each other while Cass is on her way home from getting dumped on Valentines day, and Micah is more than willing to let Cass use him for a little hate-sex. While the one-night stand turns into a lot more than one night, Cass still has no real desire to get to know him on any other level. But then Micah's band gets booked to play at an event she's planning. Seeing him in a professional environment has her thinking about him in a different way - and she starts to wonder if maybe there's more to Micah than she thought.
But then enter Josh, the owner of the venue where the event is being held, and he is a genuinely nice guy who REALLY likes Cass. Just when she swore off love completely, all of the sudden there are two gorgeous, sexy men vying for her attention.
So it's kind of a love triangle - ish… Cass isn't sleeping with Josh, while she continues to do so with Micah, but while Micah continues to be his douchey self, Josh clearly likes and respects her a lot. So it's basically the story of Cass trying to figure out what she really wants, and maybe what she really wants is neither guy…
I liked this book, but I can't say I loved it. I found it hard to get really attached to any of the characters, including Cass. Plus it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, which I wasn't expecting. All in all it was a solid read, but I'm not chomping at the bit to read book two.
Cassie St. John has just been dumped by her cheating ex-boyfriend on Valentine's Day and she has made a decision that she is not going to ever get another boyfriend again!!
But when an altercation with the hot next door neighbor leads to some great sex she is left wondering if she can have the sex without all of the complications.
When a job leads her to meet another good looking guy she is left wondering who and what she really wants.
Can Cassie have everything she wants or is she likely to lose it all?
I really enjoyed this book and it was a lot of fun banter back and forth that really make you question whether no string relationships actually work.
I liked Cassie and knew exactly why she wanted something with no strings but she had a weird magnetic pull with her next door neighbor, Micah Gannis. Micah was a local "rockstar" which Cassie had no clue about but the chemistry between them sexually was through the roof!!
Yet at the same time it was like Cassie and Micah hated each other and I was blown away by how childish Micah could be when things didn't go away and I hated how he would torment Cassie with certain things.
When Cassie meets Joshua Cavitt when planning an event she is drawn to him but is still unsure of what is happening with Micah. I was happy when she gave Josh a chance as I was still unsure if Micah was mentally ready for a serious relationship.
Towards the end of the book I felt so bad for Cassie when she is honest about everything! I was so proud of her for choosing the right job opportunity and at the very end I was happy with what happened!
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!!
This was a book full of laughs and swoon, so much swoon.
Cassie's next-door neighbor Micah is a bit of a womanizer, so much so she hears him when he has company… Cassie has decided she hates him, even though she doesn’t know him really at all.
Micah isn’t really a fan of Cassie’s either. He finds her kind of standoffish.
Life and circumstances land these two in bed and slowly it evolves to more. Cassie is slow to trust, Cassie is ok with simply being bedmates. During her hook up with Micah she meets a second guy Boy #2, and she feel a very really connection to him outside the physical.
Is it Boy #1 or Boy # 2 the right connection for Cassie. Is it Micah? What is more important: Emotions over physical.
The book ends on a cliffhanger so you will have to wait for Boy #2’s books.
The love triangle is not always my favorite, but this story had a lot of laughs. Both characters have their moments and it was a very well written story. Penny Sixsmith made me laugh out loud more than once, she also brought a lot of swoon. This was a 3.5/5 star read for me. I think it is a combination of the trope and the cliffhanger. Also Cassie comes off as a bit wishy washy in what she wants. It just doesn’t always play out well. I see the attraction to both guys but not sure why she can’t pull the trigger and pick one.
3.5 FRUSTRATING/BITTERSWEET STARS
I love Stylo Fantome and her new alter ego too, but I ended up with a really high level of frustration with all the main characters in this book!!!
The ending didn’t help either, quite the contrary…
Maybe Book 2 will help?
Don’t get me wrong, the writing is awesome, as usual, it’s hot, funny, sometimes angsty, I guess I waited and hoped for some changes that never came… At least not in this book…
And since I didn’t get the “closure” I kind of needed either, this just didn’t work for me…
And I expected so much from them… I wanted and wished for things… But I get more pissed instead…
I enjoyed it… Until the last events. Then the “end” was too much for me. Too emotionally invested with some characters’ arc (those who read the book will understand me), too much hope until the end, I guess…
A pity
And still, I can’t shake this feeling that it doesn’t end here, that MAYBE I’ll get some closure or what I wished in the next book?
I really want to, because the author did an excellent job to male me love the main characters. Until those last events..
I still want to slap some sense into them…
Love Triangle with an unexpected ending.
So this story didn’t end as I’d hoped which says a lot for the writing that I still loved this story SO MUCH!! But of course, you need to expect the unexpected even when it is a new creative outlet for Stylo Fantome who is just an amazing writer.
Cass is smart, successful & unexpectedly torn in two totally different directions. Micah, oh how I loved him, but for the life of him - he just couldn’t stop messing up. And that last one was a doozy although TWO people were at fault there! I’m still mad at one & heartbroken for the other.
But Cass moves on...to what ultimately...we’ll hopefully be able to wait & see.
Great story, wit & humor, sexy times, times you want to pull your own or someone else’s hair out. And two guys that aren’t perfect, but definitely have potential for Mr. Right or at least Mr. Right Now.
There is so much to love about this story. So many thoughts and feelings, screaming, heartwrenching moments - mine as well as theirs - and hope for a brighter future and career. Even if the ending isn't how I hoped it would be - you know there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Bring on Boy #2.
I voluntarily requested and read an uncorrected advance reader copy.
Sooooo Good!
I love a Stylo Fantome books, and when she announced the use of a new pen name for a new series I didn’t even hesitate!
She did warn us that this is an over the top book and yes, it was. While I usually do not enjoy big, unnecessary drama in books, I TOTALLY loved this one. Stylo, or in this case Penny Sixsmith, does a wonderful job in making OTT situations angsty and oh so engaging! I could not stop reading and waiting what the characters would do next!
I love Cassie. She is flawed in the most human way. She is great at her job, great in looking the part of a girl who is very well put together. And she does, mostly. This is what I love about this author’s female h: they are kind, smart, loving but will not take any crap from anyone. Cassie is just like that.
Micah, *sigh*, this rockstar wannabe is giving me all sorts of conflicting thoughts. Penny made me love him and cheer for him. But then the plot twist happened and he fell so hard from the pedestal that I don’t know if he’ll recover.
The plot twist, well...I’m not gonna say anything obviously, but I’m now waiting anxiously on the next book. Can’t wait to read more of Boy #2!
Stylo Fantome, one of my all favourite time authors, has decided to write some lighter contemporary romances under the new pen name Penny Sixsmith. This book just proves that no matter what pseudonym she uses, Stylo Fantome can do no wrong. I adoreeeeed this book so much. It was fun, light and fast paced but still had that signature Stylo banter and edge with the same high quality writing.
After getting dumped, on Valentine's day no less, by her cheating boyfriend Cassandra 'Cassie' St. John swears of relationships and love all together. Enter boy #1, Micah, her wall-thumping, womanising next door neighbour.
I have to admit, I'm the type who gets really invested in MCs and ships, so this was new for me, but because it was Stylo Fantome I dove right in. I'm so glad I did because the book was a wonderful whirlwind of romance, angst, banter and hair pulling moments of that made me want to yell at my kindle. I'm so excited to delve into craziness of Cassie's world and see where her escapades take us in book 2.
Questo romanzo è molto particolare.
Diciamo che è da un po' che non leggo un romanzo in terza persona (a molto di moda la prima da tantissimi anni, ormai!), quindi mi è sembrato tutto molto strano all'inizio.
Per non parlare del prologo: dopo qualche pagina ho alzato gli occhi dal kindle con lo sguardo di chi non stava capendo proprio una cippa.
Ma ho continuato, sperando che la storia migliorasse (anche perchè le recensioni sono tutte positive!). Allora: non aspettatevi chissà che. Secondo me poteva risolversi tutto molto prima, senza troppe pagine inutili. Inoltre, ci sono "solo" due uomini tra i quali scegliere, quindi alla fine simo davanti al classico e solito, a volte un po' scontato, triangolo.
Lo stile verte un po' sul comico, tuttavia senza mai spingersi troppo in là.
A volte mi è sembrato un esperimento mal riuscito: non troppo comico, non troppo erotico, non troppo tranquillo... un romanzo nel mezzo che non assume mai una posizione.
Strano.
Leggetelo se...
Vi piacciono i triangoli, i bad boy e le protagoniste incasinate.
Man, how I have missed you, Stylo Fantome! You certainly delivered, and I can't wait for more. More of your writing, more of your wit, and more of these complex characters that steal your heart one minute and crush it like a bug the next. Yep, that's my jam.
Cass goes from being dumped on Valentine's Day and single to having two guys chase after her. One's damn near perfect and one's so far from perfect, it's literally not even funny. A "Mr. Perfect" with a boyish grin and a wall-banging jerk with a big...ego.
I honestly don't know how the next book will play out because of what happened at the end of this one. I mean, Cassie didn't seem to care all that much, but I did, and I'm going to need some major justification and groveling from ALL parties involved.
Overall, this was a really good read. It was steamy, witty, and fun (until the heart crushing, of course). I loved the characters despite their horrible personalities and flaws, and I'm looking forward to the next shit show- I mean book.
Sexy
Fun
Strong, funny, and smart heroine
This is the first book that I read by this author and I loved it.
This book was so hot and fun to read, what I love the most in this book is the heroine, Cassandra St. John is so strong and independent, she don't take shit from anyone.
On Valentine's Day Cassandra St, John was dumped by her boyfriend, heartbroken and drunk stumbles upon her annoying neighbor, the annoying neighbor that keeps her awake with the loud noises coming from his apartment against her wall every night, a one-night stand with him is supposed to be the answer to her problems, but Just when she is done dating and getting her heart broken, she finds herself between two gorgeous men.
I'm a big fan of Stylo Fantome so getting to read her alter ego, well sign me up! And while Ms. Fantome is a darker sort of girl, Penny Sixsmith is a lighter version of that dark brilliance. Cassie was dumped by her boyfriend on Valentine's Day, and if that's not enough, he admits to cheating on her to boot. Well, that messed with her head a bit so she decided no more boyfriends, just fun. And off she goes on a new hilarious, entertaining journey as she starts to just hook up with rock god next door which ends up the best sex she ever had. However, you already know that once a girl stops looking for love, it's going to get dicey when it comes for her anyway. So yeah, this light read hit just right during this time in history where everything is all dark & twisty with chaos so it was a breath of fresh air. And finally, I'm here for it all as it seems like there will be more in this series, so I'll end with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!
⭐I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review ⭐
This book was such a fun and sexy read! We meet our heroine Cassie St. John who is dumped by her douchbag boyfriend on Valentine's Day! Drunk and pissed off (rightfully so) she runs into her neighbor Micha Gannis. Resident womanizer and manwhore ..if by the sounds coming from his apartment at night are any indication. He's a rude, wannabe rock star who is the perfect choice to work out some anger and frustration over her current situation. Well, what happens when a one night stand turns into more?? What happens when Cassie meets another..boy #2? Is physical connection more important than a emotional one??
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...Oh, those boys is right!
This is a fun and light read that I really enjoyed!
Book ends with a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next!
This story starts with poor Cass getting dumped by her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day of all days, AFTER he tells her he’s been cheating on her. Cue the heartache and her determined to be done with men. Also, cue the gorgeous wall thumping next door neighbor, Micah. Their hate of each other is nothing shy of intense foreplay and when they finally let go, it’s HAWT! Cass has heard on many occasions the talent the man obviously possesses, so she decides to find out firsthand. Let’s just say that “one time” turned into a regular hookup lol. It’s hard to give up that good D LOL!
I’m loving Stylo Fantome’s new alter ego, Penny Sixsmith and she’s definitely left me wanting more, especially after that ending. Man, I’m hoping we don’t have to wait long for book two.
Penny Sixsmith, aka Stylo Fantome, has decided to write some lighter tales for our enjoyment. So we all know how devious and depraved she can be in her darkness, but oh my heavens, The Wannabe Rockstar is an absolute gem!
It's light, fun and fast moving, and our heroine, Cassandra St John, is a strong, independent woman...who gets dumped on Valentine's Day! Enter her next door neighbour, Micah, the wannabe rockstar, with his revolving door of noisy conquests!
I have to say that I loved Micah and Cassandra. Their witty repartee and hotness was highly amusing and SO entertaining. BUT, what comes along further in the book made me look at things differently and when things totally went off course, I was completely gobsmacked!!!
Highly recommended read!
I didn't take off a star for a serial (I hate cliffhanger types) and this ended nicely....not finished but satisfying. It's probably because I approved of the man at the end and don't read the end because it will ruin it. I suspect we aren't done with the other dude....
Fun and witty and some what sad. When you sleep with a guy for months and in between times he's banging your bedroom wall with randoms and also ruining your sleep....arrgh. Then he just doesn't know you at all. His buddy said that type relationship was like a sex toy doll. Arrggh.
Author made him a sex star though. If that's enough, Cassie has to decide.
Book was written with good build ups. And Cassie was good at her job. I liked her.
Can't wait for book 2. Hope we can pre-order.
