Lucky Lucy



Lucrecia "Lucy" Stevens gets in over her head when she takes shelter with Salvation‘s Bane. She's young, feisty, and willing to walk through fire for her sister, Mae.

Vicious lives up to his moniker in many ways. Sometimes it's a pain and other times, I love it. The fact that Lucy stands up to him makes me like her even more. Lucy taking him by storm is fun even when things go down a dark path.

I was heading for a solid 4-star rating and then I got to that ending. 🥵🌶 Talk about seriously sizzling! 🌶🥵 It's worth an entire star or two!

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator is Umi Markkanen. She always does a terrific job, even if I'd sometimes like her to have a duet counterpart.

THis was a really quick read for me and I really enjoyed it. Marteeka is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more by her. THis book will engage you as a reader and it is not too long that you find yourself sailing through it pretty quickly. This author did a phenomenal job at putting the reader right in the action and making sure that you enjoy it. Good job Marteeka and I hope to read more from you in the future.

This is another excellent MC story by Marteeka. I have found Marteeka’s MC books to be overall well written and enjoyable. Vicious is a tough biker and overly protective. However, he has a soft heart for Lucy, and will do anything to make her happy. The story is engaging and well written. The characters are relatable, and interesting. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this audiobook, and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This was a fun quick read that didn’t really introduce me to this series, so much as it let me get to know the leads and some other players, which also works great. It was fast-paced, just dramatic enough, hot and fun overall. I’d like to read more in this series. I’m learning that this author is always a good time (literature-speaking). :)

Audio:
The narrator did a great job - performing rather than sounding like a bot, and using different voices for different characters. Excellent. Overall sound quality was perfect. 5 stars.

the cover that's displayed at the time of this review isn't good—it'd never have caught my eye. The cover on the book at the time of my reading/posting is better, but not great. I looked because I've liked some of her other books in the past.

Motorcycle clubs aren't one of my favorite settings (tropes?) for this genre, but I think those who like books with that setting would enjoy this.

Part of the Bones MC Multiverse, with several preceding series. The books include name-checks of characters in other clubs. Ms. Marteeka says that she has all the characters and their relationships and motorcycle club ranks straight in her own head and also in a system of notes that she can understand, but I'd still like to see some kind of map or family tree kind of thing.

Disclaimer: I've had a little involvement on the production side of some of the books in the multiverse. I don't know if a rating would be fair?

The female protagonists are generally intelligent, and relatively strong in their own ways, considering their situations. I appreciate that.

The books are well-written. It's honestly just me and my strong preference for fluffiness in my fictional reading material. Some people prefer stories that are grittier.

- Vicious was so alpha, yet he could be so tender sometimes. He totally earned the title of my new book boyfriend

Vicious is a quick novella that will capture your interest for the length of the book, but is not a must read. Lucy is found hiding in the MC clubhouse by Vicious. When he finds out she was sent there by another club and her sister is missing, he vows to do whatever it takes to get Mae back to her. It was a little confusing with the involvement of the different clubs and people involved, but the rescue mission and Vicious makes it worth the short amount of time invested in the book.

I love the tie into Bones MC and Black Reign. As always, Umi does a remarkable job with narration and the constant emotional changes between the main characters and the supporting characters.

Vicious and Lucy are made for each other, and the inner dialogue is perfect.

I love that Marteeka makes it seems as though the MMC has it all figured out but when you listen to the inner dialogue, you find that they are really figuring it out as they go and most of the time they have no clue as to what to done and how but they figure it out...really a true snapshot of life itself.

Wonderful characters. Complicated plot. Interesting MC. A fun listen. Marteeka Karland does not disappoint.

5 stars +++ for Umi Markkanen, the narrator. She brings so much to this short 4 hour listen. So many voices. So much emotion. Performing these characters to perfection. I will be looking for more of her books. too.

This book was ok. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was fantastic. She carried the story. The reason I gave it only 3 stars is because to me, it lacked depth. The story was missing so much. How did Lucrecia and Mae end up at Black Reign? Why was Ricks so attached to Mae? Why was Mae kidnapped? So many unanswered questions. However, the steamy parts were well written and narrator delivered it perfectly.

An intriguing, suspenseful and seductive little treat. Vicious and Lucy are simply perfect for one another, it may have taken them some time to get there but when they did.. wow! This story has the perfect amount of action, grit, sweetness and of course romance. I enjoyed every thrilling moment of this story.

Marteeka Karland does an amazing job of creating characters that draw you into their story and keep you wanting more once it is done. Though her books are short listens, there is a lot in those listens that I have come to enjoy. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters to life and I love this introduction to the Salvation's bane MC.

This was a quick listen and I've listened to some other MC's written by this author and really enjoyed them. This one seemed like it was very quick while it was interesting I felt like I was missing a few pieces to the puzzle and I think that's why I didn't get into as much. If you love MC's and want a quick read/listen then this might be a good one.
