ASIN B086XKNSVP moved to this edition. The old magic was broken. What would it take for them to fix it?
Zee likes being in charge. She’s good at it, and the Fae have thrived under her leadership. When the Wood summarily exiles her, she’s flung into the human world with no magic and no idea how to get back to her people. Out of options, she turns to Ryan, her closest human connection and the subject of an unfortunate attraction. Will he help her find her way or prove to be a dangerous distraction?
Ryan Nolan hates his magic. It’s dangerous and wild, and he can’t control it. Until the sexy leader of the Fae offers an exchange. She’s a temptation he’s resisted before, but maybe this time the reward will be worth the risk.
When mysterious shadows start appearing in the Wood, Zee and Ryan find themselves on opposite ends of a magical tug-of-war. Can they find a common ground where human and magic meet or will their differences tear them apart?
I think this has been my favorite story in this series. I loved reading about the Fae and their relationship with the world around them. Seeing the characters grow and adapt to their changes and embrace truths they have fought made the characters feel real. I was cheering them on.
I read this book after reading Accidental Magic which I enjoyed. This book is probably designed more of a romance which bits of magic rather than a magical book with bits of romance. Although the relationship between Ryan and Zee was interesting I felt it was overemphasised to the detriment of the story. However if you like romances with a storyline on magic then it's a good read. Jake and Sera, the main characters in book 1 were included in this book but with a much smaller part to play. This story taught us more about Ryan & his dislike of magic and explained how Zee (a fairy) gets involved in human worlds & ideas. The bond between Ryan and Zee creates lots of upheaval in both their lives & we get a surprise baddie near the end in additional to the current known baddies. A fun read if you like romance with a bit of sex, not if you don't.
I love the fact that both main characters can't admit their feelings for the other. They argue like cats & dogs. Zee is what most women want to be like tough, sexy, smart, & has magic. Ryan is hot but has the opposite views on magic. You will finally hear towards the end what traumatized him when he was younger. Because of it he jumped to find a way to seal his magic. Which I have to state for the record is way too extreme! That's why he came to Zee. And obviously you know from book one that that's why Ryan had a love/hate relationship with Zee. Now there was a little too much sexy time for me & it was a little more explicit than I like. If that's your thing you'll like it. The first book did not have as much as this one!
I really enjoyed Zoe’s character in this book, as well as Ryan’s. It got a little slow for me for a bit but even in the slower parts I was enjoying “watching” Zee and Ryan find each other and grow closer to each other. The ending was also good, I was interested in seeing what happens in the glen now that the Fae are free to go and come as they please but looking at the next book it doesn’t seem like it is even in the same town. :( unsure if I will keep reading the series.
This is a great book. Even though I came in the series a bit late, just makes me want to read the first two books before I get to read the next book. It had a good speed. As Ryan and Zee come to terms of their bond, it’s like come on make it happen. It takes a bit because there is something always in the way. I am a hopeless romantic, so their love story is a good one. But as for the actual story, it was as good as the love between Ryan and Zee.
I loved this book! Ryan and Zee were minor characters in the first book so I was so excited when they were the main characters in this book. Ryan we saw as just a sidekick, sexy tech god but seeing him develop over this book and his relationship with Zee was amazing! Can't wait to see what's in store for book 3!
I definitely appreciated how more of the world/s framework was explained; it added a lot more to the story. The addition of the motley cast of characters was also a nice touch, though I'd appreciate even more in that regard.
