I'm a long-time Midwesterner. I've lived in Chicago, Bloomington (IN), and Saint Louis, my current home. Aside from reading and writing (which take up a lot of my time), I'm an educator.
While I enjoy reading across many genres, my two main loves are mystery and speculative fiction. I used to keep a list of favorite books, but it changes so frequently that I've given up. I'm always looking for recommendations, though, so please drop me a line if you have something in mind!
My big goal right now is one day to be responsible enough to get a dog.
How Somers, Rebecca and Noah get Hazard to play Santa wearing the red suit for all the children. Absolutely priceless short, placed right after book 3. And Somers is fighting Hazard with his own ‘weapons’! LMAO!
The Great Ashe Re-Read of 2021 continues 🙌🏻 and Christmas in September is fine by me.
Also can I one day read this story at Christmas and not on a hot humid day?
*********************************** First read 8/7/20 -- 8/7/20
I rate based on my level of enjoyment and this slice of Christmas in August via my favorite grump, Emery Hazard, had me smiling like a loon on my way to work. I was wearing my mask so fellow commuters perhaps thought I was having a conniption: tears (of laughter) running down the side of my face, heavy breathing etc.
Emery earnestly trying to sway Somers, Noah, and Rebeca with neo-Marxist socio-economic theories about Santa and his historic role in societal oppression & conformity, then seamlessly tag-teaming with John to get tamales, tres leches cake, & beans, and later melting before Evie's wonder filled face is a thing a beauty. Not to mention being hot and bothered by research. *wink*
Super cute short. Felt good after all the pointed bickering/nasty digs between H&S in Police Brutality. And it's always fun to see curmudgeonly Hazard turn into a puddle of goo :)
The more I read of Somers and Hazard, the more I love them. This was sweet and funny. Hazard is too cute. The lil snippets into their everyday lives are perfect.
