Why have I never read a novel by Laura Beers before? I have been missing out! I am already perusing her books on Goodreads and figuring out what I want to read and wondering when I will get a chance to.

I loved, loved, loved the characters in this book. Charlotte and Hudson. Sigh. From the moment they met in a coaching inn, I knew that they had to become a couple. Their easy relationship and friendship is something novels are made of. (Ok, I'm cracking myself up over that one.) I'm coming down from a romance overindulgence right now.

This is a wonderful book to read when you need to escape into another world and time and forget about the stay-at-home orders. Time flew by for me and I was happy to not see anyone or go anywhere.

Another lovely Regency from Laura Beers. Lady Charlotte Taylour is finishing her studies at Miss Bell's Finishing school when she's notified of her father's death, and must leave to go home for the reading of his will. She hopes her father has at least have left her a little money to get by on because she has no family other than the stepmother and younger half-sister she hardly knows.

Lord Hudson Beauchamp is a district judge in London who really enjoys his work. He doesn't attend balls or parties, he just works. All. The. Time. It was easier than opening up your heart to be broken again. Hudson is on the last leg of his journey to bring his sister, Lady Isabella, home from Miss Bell's Finishing School when he meets Charlotte in a coaching inn after her coach ran into some trouble not far into her journey to London.

I loved this story as I've loved all of the author's Regency books. Charlotte and Hudson are both wonderful characters who are hiding pain caused by someone they loved. Charlotte the pain of never feeling the love of her father and Hudson from the woman who ended their relationship to be with another man. I loved how Charlotte entered Hudson's thoughts so often he started spending less time at work. I couldn't wait for Charlotte to read the letter her father left to her because I knew it would contain words that would heal her heart.

I knew Charlotte and Hudson would make a great couple from the start. I loved their conversations, they were so much fun to read. I loved the stories Charlotte told about being raised by her mother's parents. Her grandpa teaching her to shoot a gun, (which was rare for Regency times), learning to ride a horse and of course her tree climbing adventures. She definitely wouldn't have been the same fun Charlotte if she had been raised by her stepmother. Speaking of her stepmother, I wasn't so sure about her for part of the book, and was happy she and Charlotte worked things out. Of course there was a villian who got what they deserved, but most importantly Charlotte and Hudson got a happily ever after.

I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed in my review are my own.

This was a fun and cute read!
Lady Charlotte was super daring and adventurous. I really liked her!
Lord Hudson was a stuff bachelor who loved and lost and has no intention to allow another woman to hurt him.
Then, there's Duncan. While this could be construed as a love triangle, it really wasn't. I don't really enjoy two men vying for a woman. Not really my cup of tea. I knew something was weird about him.
There was adventure, action, attempted murder, attempted highway robbery, a masquerade ball, a stepmother, past friends, and so much more! While this isn't the end of the series. I felt like this book wrapped it up nicely regardless.
However, I'm most eager to read Isabella's story!

Every day, we are faced with many choices, and we must decide who it is that we want to be.

This is my first book by Laura Beers, and it probably won't be the last!

I liked everything about the book, from the characters to the plot. My only peeve was that since I've started with book 4 of the series, many of the characters were already known and familiar to each other - the fault is my own. Reading about multiple happily married couple wasn't too much of bother though 😉

I liked Hudson and how dedicated he was to his work. He seems very staid in the beginning, but he just needed someone to motivate him to enjoy other things in life. He and Charlotte dealt very well. Charlotte was not exactly bold, but she was brave enough to shoot the highwaymen who tried to attack her carriage. She isn't very timid either and dealt honestly with her stepmother and stepsister. I really liked L, the stepmother - her dreams and desires were nicely fleshed out, about how she grew to care for her husband and was dismayed that he did not reciprocate. Initially, she is cold to Charlotte but as they gradually become comfortable with each other she is more forthcoming and even gets a little daring.

Isabella was a great character and I look forward to her story.

I love anything that Laura Beers writes because I know I’m getting a sweet, clean love story with adventure with characters that I love.

This had an interesting plot at the beginning but then I couldn’t figure out where this book was going. Hudson was going to help Charlotte find suitors-okay, I’m down with that. Then that went nowhere. Then going on secret missions. Perfect! Then that stopped quickly. Then Charlotte’s life was in danger.

Both Charlotte and Hudson had a lot of emotional obstacles to overcome which was great but I felt like Charlotte was too perfect saying all the perfect things, especially at the beginning that it was making me not like her. Especially how many times she kept saying “Miss Bell’s Finishing School” it’s mentioned 17 times but it seemed like Charlotte brought it up all the time. I love this series that Beers has created and the prequel so it’s clever she made a series from a novella she had in another series but I felt like it was too much down your throat. But that’s just me I think- I notice when certain words are repeated a lot.

I’m excited for the next book! And thanks to the author for letting me read an arc!

This is the first book by Laura Beers that I have read and I really enjoyed it. I loved her characters. I loved how her female characters were out of the norm. I loved how Charlotte was adventuress and how she loved to climb trees. I loved how her just being who she was helped Hudson to remember what having fun was and to start living for more then work. I thought this was a great book and I look forward to reading other books in this series.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

This was a sweet clean romance with a nice plot. I enjoyed seeing characters from the other novels in the Regency Brides series and having them be apart of the story. Charlotte and Hudson were a cute fit. If you are looking for an easy clean Regency read, this is a good book to check out.

I had the privilege of receiving an ARC from the author to beta read.
My thoughts and opinions will be based on the version that I read, and not the final version.
I think if you like Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson, you’ll enjoy this book.
Charlotte has grown up with a very neglectful father and has lived with either grandparents or at a boarding school her whole life. When she returns home for the will reading, she runs into her best friend’s brother. They form an instant connection that you enjoy reading grow. Some pretty predictable things happen, but it’s of course a happily ever after ending.
I really did like the connection the two main characters had and I enjoyed both of them as people.
It was a clean and sweet romance.

sweet romance

Romance, sweet, period; series but stand alone read
Light romance. Writing was ok. It lacked the intensity that I look for that keeps a reader riveted. Still a fun story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Charlotte Taylour and her spunky get-it-done attitude. Despite being a student at Miss Bell's Finishing School, she still climbs trees and thwarts highwaymen as they try to take over her coach on the way to London. Along the way she meets Hudson Beauchamp and he is completely enthralled by her. The story was completely entertaining and I could not guess the end which made me keep reading to see how it would end.

I received a free digital copy of this book. All thoughts above are my own.

Wow, what a delightful read. This is the first book I’ve read of Laura Beers and I am hooked! I loved the character of Charlotte, she was strong, determined witty and caring. She faced her fears head on. I also loved the character of Hudson. He was hurt and unable to forgive and forget. Could he open his heart to love again? I was waiting for the twists and turns that make good story. When they came,I was not disappointed I didn’t realize, until close to the end of the book, this is part of the series. I already have the prior books ready to go. I can’t wait to read the stories of other characters. I am really excited about Isabellas story, it sounds amazing. This was a clean regency romance. I highly recommend reading it.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
If you haven’t read any Laura Beers books, you need to remedy this. She has become a favorite author and I might own all her books cause they are so good! This one was no different. The series can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the whole series in order. Past characters make appearances throughout her books. We learn about Charlotte and Hudson here. Charlotte has just lost her estranged father and has become wealthy while Hudson is a district court judge and had been hurt by a broken engagement and only has time for work. He meets Charlotte through some unforeseen circumstances. The attraction between them is evident. Its got love, murderous attempts, evil family members. Clean content. Historical regency fiction.

The Earl's Daughter is another Book in the Regency Brides Series. Each book in this series could be read without reading the previous books but you will get a lot more out of the story by reading the books in order. There are characters and situations mentioned from previous stories. I also enjoy getting updates on characters from those other books.

This story opens in Miss Bell's Finishing School as two of the students are getting ready to return to their families. Lady Charlotte Taylour has gotten news that her father has died. This is a father who has kept his distance from her for most of her life so it is hard for her to be saddened by his death. She has been summoned to London for the reading of her father's will and has no idea what to expect. Her good friend Isabella Beauchamp will be returning to her family in London to prepare for her first Season. Isabella wants Charlotte to come to her home instead of staying with her step mother and half sister who she doesn't know well.

Charlotte runs into some problems as she travels to London with a companion sent by the lawyer. Her quick thinking and courageous actions save their lives. This unexpected situation causes her to meet Isabella's older brother, Lord Hudson Beauchamp, who was on his way to get his sister to take her home. Hudson is a district judge in London, who has made his work his life. His family rarely sees him and he never stops working to enjoy some of the London activities.

Meeting Charlotte may be the very person who will break through the wall he has placed around his heart. A rejection by his then fiancée, who eloped with a rake with a higher title, made him protect his heart by getting lost in his work. Now Hudson finds himself making excuses to spend time with Charlotte. Will he take the next step or let fear stop him from drawing closer to Charlotte?

This book was fast paced and captured me right from the beginning. Charlotte was facing lots of challenges and changes in a short time:
Charlotte discovered her step mother wasn't the mean distant woman she expected.
Charlotte was also surprised by the inheritance her father had left, her making her an heiress.
As Charlotte and Hudson begin to grow closer a dangerous situation could destroy their relationship.

Great story and as always- a strong courageous h not afraid to protect herself from harm.
I received a copy of the book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

I enjoyed this book very much. I have read several by this author and have enjoyed them all.

In this book, Lady Charlotte, who is estranged from her father since birth, finds out that he has died and she is summoned to London for the reading of his will. She is nervous about the trip. She had no relationship with her father as she was sent away after her mother's death due to complications from her birth and she had only occasionally been brought home. He had remarried quickly after her mother's death and had a 12 year old daughter with his 2nd wife. Lady Charlotte believed that her stepmother hated her and wanted nothing to do with her, too. It didn't seem likely that it would be a pleasant experience. In her travels to London, her coach was set upon by highwaymen. When the driver was shot, she climbed out the window to save the day. She also shot one of the highwaymen in the process. Upon arriving at the inn, she met Lord Hudson, a very handsome man, who turned out to be the brother of her dear friend, Isabella.

There is a lot to this story that I won't give away. I liked that Lady Charlotte was a little unconventional. She didn't need to marry for convenience or for any other reason than for love and she was determined that it would be the only reason she would marry. She also didn't need to marry for financial reasons because she was an heiress due to her father's inheritance left for her. I also liked that Lord Hudson began to see that his heart didn't need to be closed off to love, too. Through his conversations with Lady Charlotte, he began to see that he, too, could be happy.

This was a clean, sweet romance with good character development and many facets to the story. It held my interest and provided a good release for a period of time from worldly cares.

I used the Kindle Lender's Library to check out this book and I offer my review willingly.

This is my first time reading something by Ms. Beers and I have to say I really enjoyed it! This is such a charming and delightful read - the perfect sweet, clean, regency romance. The characters were so wonderful and endearing you can't help but fall in love with them. Charlotte and Hudson were such a perfect couple and their story was so beautifully written. I very much enjoyed reading the conversations between the two. Both had their own challenges to overcome and it was nice to see how Charlotte brought the brightness and fun back in Hudson's life. The storyline had me enchanted from the first page and there were some nice plot twists to keep me guessing. This is a very well-written story that just comes to life as you read it. I had not realized this was part of a series - now I have to go back and read them all! Being such a regency junkie, I can't believe I've missed out on an amazing author. But I will certainly remedy that! Ms. Beers is definitely an author I am adding to my favorites list.

I received a complimentary advanced reader's copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

The Bride are big on sending their children off to school. Or at least they were in old days. So when girls reached a certain age they were sent to school until they were ready for marriage at age eighteen. They learned the necessary skills required for keeping house, knowledge for being a perfect spouse and even a society hostess.
Sons who are not of noble birth of first born were required to make a living and must be educated in their chosen field. Hudson Beauchamp had been a barrister who had advanced to a district judge. He had worked hard to achieve his goals. As a second son he would not inherit the title but he would make his family proud and marry well.
Charlotte and her best friend Isabella Beauchamp were now ready for the season in London. Charlotte would have to wait because her father had died and she had to be in mourning.
While traveling to London for the reading of her father's will Charlotte meets Hudson Beauchamp.

Charlotte has always felt unloved by her father. He sent her away after her mother died from birthing her. Charlotte has made good friends while at Miss Bell's finishing school. After a thwarted robbery attempt her friend, Isabella and her brother Hudson escort her to London for her father's will reading. After a surprising inheritance she goes to live with the new earl and her stepmother. Hudson continually checks up on her but is unwilling to fall in love with Charlotte. Something sinister is afoot and Hudson is determined to keep Charlotte safe. Who could be plotting against Carlotte and will Hudson unlock his heart for the dear Charlotte? A great story with a mystery, love story and enduring friendship elements. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.

I love this couple. They misunderstand each other at first. Hudson is the brother of Charlotte's friend and he becomes enchanted with her to the point of protector. He is a judge and is very helpful in uncovering truths from her father's will. Her father that sent her away and never saw her. She has a difficult time mourning him. She is able to find truth, family, and love.

I love Laura Beers' Regency tales. She writes smart, witty characters that don't follow the stereotypes and good ton of the day, but it works so well. I fall quickly into her stories and don't have to work to get lost, this one was no different and I couldn't put it down. I recommend this and any of her books if you are into mystery and regency.

I enjoyed read this book. This shows how even long term feelings and and thoughts about people (we think we know) can sometimes be very erroneous when one learns the facts. Charlotte has always strived to be kind and positive despite her many questions, growing up about why her father and stepmother seemed to be indifferent to her throughout her life.
The author does a nice job of developing all the characters in this book and showing how they all ultimately help her learn of the person they “really” are. She weaves the story together cleverly till all her past questions get answered and we end up with a sweet romance and happy ending epilogue

I love Laura Beers' writing. This book is no exception. Charlotte is delightful. She is spunky, strong, kind and honest. I love that she doesn't let society norms control her. I loved her many adventures in this book. Lord Hudson is her best friends brother. He has had his heart shattered and is afraid to love again. But when he encounters Charlotte for the first time he is very intrigued. Watching Hudson open his heart again was a beautiful thing. I would highly recommend this book and this series.

Another book I absolutely loved! Laura knows just how to add the perfect amount of intrigue, love, and witty banter. I'm always so eager to keep reading to find out what is going to happen, and then so sad it is over! I never realized I enjoy reading a good mystery, until reading Laura's books. I loved reading Charlotte and Hudson's story. I love how their unexpected friendship is exactly what they both needed to help heal hurts they've both had in the past. If you haven't read Laura's books yet, do it now! They are all so good!

Laura Beers’ new book, The Earl’s Daughter, is book 4, in her series Regency Brides: A Promise of Love. This book is an excellent addition to that series! I loved Lady Charlotte’s adventurous, kind nature. And the strong friendships previously seen in the earlier books are fun to read more about. I enjoyed the mystery involved, as well as the new friendships and family ties formed. It also has a sweet, clean love story with a wonderful ending. So much fun to read and a great escape for anyone who loves a good book!

Typical

This book was not a bad read but it was kind of vanilla. We had a heroine Charlotte who was a strong character at 18 years old. The hero Hudson was not very strong even though he was a judge who worked constantly. He was weak in his refusal to love another since his betrothed dropped him for a Duke's heir. That is a typical plot along with the old faithful kidnapping for Regency novels. Not much happened throughout the book so you will have to gird your loins and persevere.

The love story developed too quickly for my taste, I would have liked more depth and interaction between Charlotte and Hudson. Again we have the over capable heroine who shoots, and climbs and so forth. And the reserved hero, who is afraid to let himself feel, but is instantly intrigued and attracted by our outstanding heroine. What I loved was the ending of the book. So I give it an additional star for that.

Sensuality: clean, only a kiss

An enjoyable story!

One thing I liked about this book is that the characters did not hide from themselves that they were falling in love. In many of the Regency novels the characters do not want to admit that they are in love but in this one each character does admit it. additionally, there is a mother-daughter relationship that struggles, and eventually becomes clarified. Less attention is given to the evil doers and their nefarious plots to kill the protagonist. This is a very enjoyable story.

Such a sweet and romantic story.
Charlotte is a perfect lady but with brain and a big heart. I loved her way of going through life.
Hudson is such a lovely man. Cold at first and work obsessed but with a heart of gold.
This was like a twisted fairy tale. I love the plot and the characters are sweet and funny.
The excellent writing makes it a very good book to read. I highly recommend this story.

A delightful continuation of the series! This can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading it with the others in the line.
This one had long kept secrets, death, kidnapping and murder....oh and romance!
The characters and locations are well developed and it is fun to see The Who done it as as the romance between Charlotte and Hudson find true footing.
A fun action romance to be enjoyed!
Look forward to the next in the series

I love Charlotte! She has so much spunk. Her group of friends from Miss Bells is.so much fun. I love that these girls all went to a proper finishing school, but they all enjoyed rather improper things and didn't let society take those loves from them. It was so good to see Hudson take a break from the law and learn to have fun again. He and Charlotte were so good together from the very beginning. I can't wait to read Isabella's story.

Women battles always to heard, for independence it doesn’t matter what era place and circumstances are living.

I love reading stories about regency romance. The story of Lord Hudson and Lady Charlotte both fighting insecurities about lost love ones and looking for love. Finally they overcome problems and differences reach happiness against people who tried to separate them. Story full of action intrigue and mystery.
