Demon Flyer

Rate this book
For decades a terrifying flying monster has been reported throughout Indonesia. It is known as the Ropen, the local term for “Demon Flyer.” A survivor from prehistoric times, it is large, deadly . . . and hungry for human flesh.

When fishing boats go missing in the Java Sea, Jack Rastun, Karen Thatcher, and their team of monster hunters from the FUBI are brought in to track down the beast. They soon learn there is not one Ropen, but an entire colony. But standing in their way is a group of activists determined to preserve the Ropen by any means necessary.

With politics and social media outrage tying his hands, Rastun must find a way to overcome his human adversaries or watch the Demon Flyers devour the population of an entire island . . . along with him and his team.

ridiculous story line

The author has a right wing slant to his main characters. Most Military people have little regard for animal regards. That said, there are those that do not lack empathy and would be of great value. The problem with his representation of animal welfare groups is that he relies on PETA alone. Most groups stay far away and have helped spread the word of animal welfare by logical means. For every ecoterrorist there are multitudes of kind , caring individuals that will work with any groups to preserve. Greenpeace comes to mind. Also, the military comes better prepared for any eventuality. They would come with strong nets, better tranq instruments and more capable people. This story just inflames those who would be of help

Getting better

Each book in the series seems to be enjoying more cryptid action and gore than the previous. I like that. The first book was too much detective work and not enough action with beasties. Still love the main characters. They are great. Would have loved seeing Marques getting eaten. Oh well. Will head on the next, most recent in the series and have some more fun. This one is highly recommended.

Dino Flyer

Hard to follow the story with SO MUCH CURSING!!!! Why do writers think that brings more life to story. I mainly skimmed thru it to see how it ended. Decent story, good subplot within a plot. Good character development. Have at it.

Nothing

Rehash of the same old stuff. Only the monster has changed. The author, apparently, has had one plot idea and retells it again.
