Miranda Hawthorne is new in the town of King Creek .. a horse therapist who works with kids and those with disabilities. Because of an abusive husband, she had had enough, filed for divorce and fled to where she resides now.

One of her new clients is a 12-year-old girl, Kaycee, who used to love riding horses. She got thrown and broke her collarbone. Since then, she doesn't want anything to do with horses. Her father sets her up to see Miranda, to see if she can help her daughter get over her fear.

When Miranda meets the girl's father, Justin McLeod, she is instantly attracted. Still waiting for her divorce papers, she is determined to keep her distance. She's still trying to get over her last relationship ..she's not near ready to start a new one.

But Justin is just as determined to get through her barriers and show her how much she means to him. The fly in the ointment ... he doesn't know that she is still married.

This is a well written sizzling contemporary romance with extremely likeable characters. There is a little suspense surrounding Miranda's still-husband, otherwise a steamy romantic romp. The intimate interludes sizzle like an Arizona summer .... which is where this story is situated. It's a short read ... great for a lazy afternoon of reading.

Many thanks to the author for the digital copy of this Western Romance. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I've been a fan of McCray's for what seems like forever. I just love her writing. She such great characters, ones you want to know more about.

We all know how much I love a cowboy and Justin is a special one. He took in his stepdaughter when her mother passed. It just gives you a warm feeling. We all know my Achilles heel is men with kids. They are just such a turn on.

Since this is a shorter story most of it moves very quickly which I liked. I like it when a story moves.

I also really like Miranda too. She's very sweet and has gone through much in the last couple of years. I didn't really blame her for keeping it all private even from her parents. Of course, it didn't help her cause any to do so.

For the most part, this is a fun, well-written story with likable characters that cause you to want to know more about this family. I did wish the author add more togetherness with the daughter and both of them. I feel it would have given us more of a family vibe. I also didn't care how Justine handle hearing about her divorce papers. Saying she made a mistake set me off. You'll have to read it to understand why I don't want to ruin anything.

Other than those two minor issues I enjoyed it and want more of this family. Of course, I wish she'd go back and write about the levels but that doesn't seem to happen. We can always hope. If you're into paranormal check them out. So good.

Country Thunder is the second book in the King Creek Cowboys series and can be read as a standalone. This story centers on Justin McLeod, his daughter Kaycee, and horse therapist, Miranda Hawthorne. It is a charming read with likable characters, a well-written storyline, great chemistry, family interaction, humor, drama, suspense, and romance.

Miranda is a recent transplant from Texas and is working on getting her horse therapy business up and running. Leaving her violent ex, family, and friends behind she is hoping to start fresh and make a name for herself, along with new memories, in King Creek and so far she is off to a great start. She is enjoying the town and the residents and has clients booked for months; now only if she could shake the awful memories that still plague her and her ex would leave her be, she might finally be happy. Things start looking up when Justin McLeod registers his daughter for therapy lessons. Kaycee was thrown from his horse several months prior and injured and is now fearful of something she has always loved. Justin is hoping with Miranda’s help Kaycee will be back in the saddle again soon. Neither of them expected the instant attraction and sparks to fly upon meeting and while Justin is determined to get closer, Miranda is just as determined to keep her distance. When she finally decides to take a chance things heat up quickly and Miranda does not know how to reveal her secret without pushing Justin away. When the situation is taken out of her hands and she and Justin are both confronted by her past Miranda is afraid that everything she has accomplished will crumble making Justin and their love a bittersweet memory.

This is a really great story from start to finish and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Country Thunder is the second book in Cheyenne McCray’s King Creek Cowboys and a wonderful feel good story of a single Dad’s love and devotion for his daughter, and the unexpected and enticing woman who helps this adorable child overcome her fears.

Justin is a proud and respected member of the community, and finds his attraction to the wary Miranda impossible to ignore. But what’s man to do, when the woman who has unknowingly taken up his every spare thought, is gun shy from a previous relationship? Neither party is lacking in determination, but Justin is compelled to be the winner in the battle to breach Miranda’s defences.

The storyline had an easy ebb and flow and the character portrayals were believable and well-developed too. This is a quick and enjoyable read that leaves the reader eager for more of Ms McCray’s engaging and sexy Cowboys!

Loved this hot cowboy story.
Cowboy, Justin McLeod has fell so hard for Miranda, a therapist, who helps with getting people "back in the saddle". Justin's daughter, Kaycee is getting help from Miranda after she fell whilst riding. Miranda thinks Justin is hot and Justin has fallen just as hard for her. They get together, but Miranda has not told him that she thinks she is still married to her abusive husband. She has been awaiting a letter confirming that her divorce has gone through, but it hasn't come through. Then her husband turns up and tells her that she is still married to him, because she didn't properly fill the forms out.
Jees, this was a good story. My favourite bit was when Justin punched Miranda's husband, because he punched her in the face.
Good characters and plot. Couldn't put it down. Reading #3 shortly. 5☆

Country Thunder: I love that Justin cares for Kacyee so much even though he is not her biological father. He treats her like she is any he would anything for her. They are good for each other, they enjoy a lot of the same things, not your typical father-daughter relationship. It's better than a lot of father-daughter relationships. It's sad what happens to Kaycee when she got thrown off the horse because the horse was spooked. As much as Kaycee loves horses it's traumatic for about getting back on. When Justin heard what Miranda did for children and adult he thought it was worth a try. When he met Miranda his reaction was amazing. They hit off so well. It was a great story. Great writing and dialog.

Just nope.

I hate liars and that's what Miranda was as far as I'm concerned. She kept sayin' she was going to tell Justin her divorce wasn't final yet before their relationship went to far but she kept chickening out, but at 49 percent when she decided to take that final step- without telling him- I quit. And she never told anyone that her husband abused her so it'll be a case of 'he said, she said', and you just know the ex is going to show up and Justin will end up upset and humiliated. My stomach was tied in knots from about the 25 percent mark when we first find out until I stopped, there was no way I was going on from there. I don't care if things eventually work out- as far as I'm concerned she's a deceitful liar. No thanks.

This is book two in this series. I enjoyed this book with Justin and Miranda. But….I was irritated that Miranda didn’t 1. Block her ex from her phone - no brainer 2. Very easy to check on the status of her divorce. I could deal with that, it was Ms. McCray that almost got three stars from me. She missed a chapter. How about what happened w Craig? How did Miranda fix the divorce papers? It doesn’t take a year for a divorce. How did her parents react to the truth coming out? We jump a full year ahead - it doesn’t take a year to finalize an adoption. Country Heat also ended abruptly. I’m headed to book three in this series, I’m hoping this isn’t a pattern.

Country Thunder (King Creek Cowboys Book 2)

Miranda wasn't exactly like most people, she had a tender heart and wanted to help children, or others who needed a different kind of therapy to overcome their disabilities with her horses. She also had her secrets, and wanted to do a restart on her life, in Arizona. It's just that there is someone who just won't let that happen. Great 👍Read.

Good read

I enjoyed both this and the first book in this series. I liked Miranda and Justin’s story. Although the whole book seemed a little rushed. Justin continued to talk about how he had never seen a future with a woman before, however, we know he had been married before. Did he not see a future with his ex-wife at any point?? I think that was the oddest part of the book. Other than that, I enjoyed the book and plan to read the next book in the series.

Better then the first book

Far better than the first book, glad I stuck with it.

Theirs a little more chemistry between them, the two main characters this time around.
Miranda. And Justen, have a better fit.

Miranda wants a new start in life, away from her ex-husband, who won’t take no for an answer.

Justen owns his own ranch, he has a daughter, who recently was thrown from a horse and now lacks confidence to get back up on one.
That’s were Miranda comes in. she helps kids get back on a horse.
It’s love at first sight. Though things progress slower this time around.

I’m still giving this book 4 stars simply because the love scenes are cringy as hell.
However, the story did make up for that, there is a flaw, well to me there is. Miranda was abused by her ex. She excepts Justin’s touches far too quickly; she only flinches once. That’s it. Where are the signs that she has been abused for years? Yes, she’s a strong woman, but it doesn’t matter how strong a person is. Trust is always going to be an issue. She trusts him far too quickly for my liking. Everyone is entitled to their own view though. So, Read for yourself.

Good story but.....

Read this same story line many times by other authors....what happened to the ex? Craig was arrested but.???. Did Kaycee ride in the rodeo she wanted to?? Over all it was a good read. Very few editing errors and it was an easy read...too many things left hanging

Nice story

Two great people who seem to belong together. The theme is fairly predictable, yet has enough action to make it interesting. A nasty ex is out to get her back and this brings issues between them that could be their undoing.

Great story

Loved this story. The fact that the hero was upset that he was not good about a marriage that was not over, but still loved her was something that a man should feel and not like most men kept me interested in reading more from this author.

Overcoming Fear

I enjoy reading this series as author Cheyenne McCray. She creates heroes that are also able to reasonably review all sides of a problem in order to find an agreeable solution. The shared passion is hot but restrained by moral ethics.

Enjoyable.

I liked this book. Miranda is getting a divorce and not looking for a relationship. Loved how quickly Justin falls for her. Stayed on edge, wondering what he’d ex will do. There’s a bit of heartbreak at one point but luckily they get their happy ever after.
