I just finished the book, and I’m so confused. To be honest, I was confused throughout. Sometimes they would talk, and then mention something completely unrelated, then keep on talking like nothing was mentioned. Sometimes stuff would happen out of nowhere - multiple things in too short a time. It made it quite disjointed - there was too much strangeness happening.
Tess (the female MC) was... meh. She was strong, a rebel, blah blah blah... She knew that by acting disrespectfully could cause her and her family to be punished and/or executed, yet she kept doing it! It made her look completely stupid, in my opinion.
Sakro (the male MC) was awful. He kept saying how he was on the humans’ side, but he treated Tess like shit at the beginning. Then a couple of chapters later he’s all sappy and like a puppy with her. Bipolar much?
Also, the book blurb doesn’t really match with the story? Or is it just me?
Meh. That’s the thought I had when I finished this book. First few pages I was like alright this is going to be a rather interesting book. Then everything else happened and I was left with more questions then answers. This could have been a better book if it was longer, more fleshed out or even split into two if it was going to be too long. There’s too many holes, gaps, things mentioned then never mentioned again. I’m going to be brutally honest, their dialogue left my head spinning and I almost stopped reading because of it. I’ve read dark dark books. I get dark. I get the turn from hate to love. I get what was being tried for it just didn’t hit. There was too much bi-polar hate then insta love. 🤢 If it made sense I probably would have followed but it didn’t. It’s a solid 2.5 for me so I rounded up. I would read the author again though just not this book.
This book starts with to races that came together on the planet Jakwa until the trust was broken and the Xyferian alien race now looks down a upon the humans as beneath them and makes them pay by making there lives a living hell with sickness from viruses and unbreathable air but the humans stay strong and fight to survive Tess along with her mother and sisters Abi, Laurie live a simple life but Tess wants more and wants to fight against the kings rule. And when a opportunity presents itself with the Kings son Alkari coming to there village she speaks her mind and causes problems for her family and the village people so when she is captured and taken away so are happy but not all. Alkari sees a spark in this human that could help him save his kingdom and free them as well, but what he never dreamed of was falling in love and wanting it so bad for the first time ever and with a human it’s unheard of and Admiral Carazar points this out to him and wants her removed and killed because she is clouding his judgment. With King Solan on his deathbed from being poisoned a war breaks out between Eraxus and the Prince. Who will win in the end and is there a HEA.

This was a free ARC copy from the author & booksprout for my voluntary honest review of this read & I thought it was awesome! I always look forward to reading this authors books because I enjoy reading them, look forward to reading more in the future! *Spoilers tag-Alkari is banished from his kingdom but when he visits the colony's he knows that Tess is his mate. Now how he goes anout making her think he's the one for her is a whole different story. Can they work together to get Alkari's kingdom back? There's steamyhot chemistry between them, great world building, & entertaining, sci-fi read w/ action too . It's also filled w/ conflict & hardship , yet there's also vulnerability, connection & a deep love between these two that over-rides ratiunality.* What more could you want in a great steamy alien sci-fir read than that!!!

First of all, this book does not deserve 5 stars... but 10 of them! Officially, it ranks in the top 10 books I've ever read. Penelope is back delivering her best book so far. It is certainly different from her other books. It is dark, set in a dystopian future where humans are ratty, striving to survive after being crossed and conquered by aliens. The characters are real and have depth. They struggle with their emotions and themselves, each one for different reasons. The plot and the world are well-built and solid, the book is action-packed and fast-paced, full of drama, suspense, intrigue, love, steamy scenes, but above all, emotion and feelings. I don't think I've met this level of sentimentality in Penelope's other books. In my mind, this book was so vivid it could be made into a movie... I loved it and I really hope that we'll get similar books in the future.

Ok I liked the idea behind the story i just didn't care for the actual execution. I didn't like how the story was choppy and hard to follow. You get a little idea of the setting and such but then the author jumps around without telling you where she's going. For instance one minute he's outside and requesting she be found then all of a sudden he's on his ship meditating? It's just all over the place for the entire book which makes it difficult to follow and then I hate how the lead male character does something stupid that he claims was part of a plan but you never get the details of that plan to help you make sense of why he thought his actions were a good idea in the first place. Like I said though I liked the idea of this book just not the execution.
I gave this 3 cups of hot java, ☕☕☕. It was well written with interesting storyline but I felt it was missing something. I felt the story was started in the middle and finished to the end. I feel that there should have been more to the story, more than the given brief description in the beginning. I liked the connection between Sankros and Tess, how they met and got together. It is mushy and instant fall in love when she was with him until it became sexual, like she was trying to write in a fairytale-like scene. Not saying it was bad but I felt it just didn't quite fit in the middle of all the chaos. Still a good read though.
This book has a a lot of understanding and forgiveness in love and family. It about three races at war with each other and finding love. Tess is a courageous woman standing up for herself again the alien rulers. She is not scared to stand up for her family even though her family is scared for her. She fined herself attracted to the alien prince who father killed her father. Will she learn to forgive and fined love instead? Read and fined out. ( In the story: heroine, betrayal, forgiveness, action, war, a lot of love making with a having a baby in mind 🤭. And a happily ever after)
Fantastic story I loved it and it’s Tess’s and Alkari’s story. Tess lives in a human colony she wants out and off the planet the Xyferian’s treat the humans with violence fear and starvation to keep them in line, Prince Alkari arrives he see’s Tess and knows that she is trouble but he can’t help but fall for her. I enjoyed both of these characters and their willingness to learn and their courage to face the trials and tribulations that they were going to go through. Fantastic story I enjoyed it immensely and I highly recommend this book.
This was a good book. It has your drama, suspense, twists, betrayal and sooo much more. He goes to the human colonies and when he sees her he knows right away she's the one. She wants out and will do anything to be out. But will being abducted by an alien be the best choice and what she really wants? Can she love her abductor?

I was surprised that the story was quite compelling right up until the end. The ending was a bit too much rainbows, unicorns and whatever else you associate with sugary sweet images. It just was too HEA for me and felt rushed. Right up until the end it was very good and kept my attention. I still must say I enjoyed the story telling skills of the author and recommend the book. I will gladly read another of her tales.
The storyline was not bad but the scene transitions were awful. Many times I’d be reading and realize that something changed in the scene or the whole scene was different but there was no clear point when it happened. I’d end up going back a page or two to reread looking for something I missed but it wasn’t there. Even if there were some extra lines to define those places would have helped. This book could use another editing session or two, not just for the transitions but for grammar as well.
Alkari and Tess meet in very conflicting circumstances and must learn to trust each other. Alkari is the Prince trying to save his planet from other alien invaders and Tess is the human woman determined to find a way to help her fellow humans. Can Alkari and Tess find trust and maybe love in order to come together and right the wrongs of the old regime or will they die fighting for what they believe in? Find out by reading the book.
What’s wrong with me I’ve never react this way to a female
It’s a good story line. It has it all action, bad guys (aliens) and love. My only gripe is that I found it too sweet for me. The characters were strong but not as strong I thought they should be. This is my first book by Penelope that I have read and I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading another. I would recommend this book for everyone.
This sci-fi romance is out of this world. Two different races have come together to create a whole new world. The scenes are steamy and hot. The two main characters remain true to themselves through out the story. When they have almost given up, a new twist gives them the strength to finally win the war. And also, the ending ends happily. There is a good element of suspense not knowing how the story will end. I highly recommend it to this genre lovers.
This story surprised me in so many ways. The plot was deep with a few sub-plots working simultaneously. The oppressed humans, who wanted to overthrow their keepers, the royal power struggle, and the whole sense of not knowing who the good guys were, kept the story interesting. The Prince was not a strong character but Tess makes up for his lack of leadership potential. There is a lot of action, both sexual and the fighting kind. There were many editing flubs that threw me, as well as questioning why the council had so much power, to begin with? It felt like there were too many tropes crowding the field, not giving enough illumination on parts that might have been important, and that made the story choppy and confusing to follow. I mean, I enjoyed the trip, but I would have liked a clearer idea of who to hate and who to root for. Cool story though, to finally get a heroine who is the actual HERO of the story!
This is another alien romance, it started off good. I was enjoying the main heroine and her plight to save the humans but around 40% in it became disjointed. The characters completely changed and didn't seem as focused on their initial goals.
They seemed to have become taken over by their hormones.
Possessive Alien Warrior is book four in the series Alien Mates by author Penelope Woods. Ok so this one is absolutely intense, the action scenes are brutal. There’s betrayal and forgiveness. And through it all there’s a sense of what can be, what it should be. With heart it can. Enjoy!!
Banished from his kingdom, Alkari finds Tess when he visits the Colony’s. He instantly knows she is the one. Now how he goes about making her think he is the one for her is a whole different story. Excellent book !
Alkari is banished from his kingdom but when he visits the Colony’s he knows that Tess is his mate. Can they work together to get Alkari’s kingdom back? Steamy chemistry, great world building. An entertaining sci-fi read. I really liked it.
A dark alien Sci-Fi romance that is well written. Banished Prince Alkari and Tess' story, there is suspense, drama, danger, poisoning, family, and romance. I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story is very powerful and fierce. It’s filled with conflict and hardship, yet there is also vulnerability, connection, and a deep love between these two that over-rides rationality.

I loved everything about this book. There is lots of action and this is defiantly a tear jerker. This is a with a HEA. I can not wait to see what this author comes out with next.
The story line had a lot of potential but the writing was just awful! The characters jumped around to much and the storytelling was all over the place which made a lot of the book confusing and unclear.
The main alien prince in this book is how men should be! I love the characters relationships with one another and their growth together! Well written and loved by me! Good job author you deserve these 5 stars!
I'm DNF at 49%. The writing seemed disjointed and all over the place. I can't follow the conversation between any of the characters and their words and actions don't seem to match with how they are described.
It was so confusing right from the beginning. Events just seem to keep jumping from one thing to another with no story to understand the jump. Just didn’t believe the instant love of the hero.
Tess and Alkari were fun to read about as a couple. Both were very determined to be the ones in control and neither was willing to trust each other in the beginning. It was war for not only their people, but between themselves. Pretty good story.
There is lots and lots of hot sex, and a story. I enjoyed that good conquers the wrong. But I felt that something was missing at the beginning. But all in all I enjoyed this story.
War, a dangerous adventure, and a possessive alien warrior are the highlights of this Sci-Fi Alien Romance. An alien and a human female's love is what brings both sides together to fight and end the war. This exciting tale was fast pace and fun to read.
