Homecomings can be tough. But how many of them involve Valkyrie, violent cultists, monsters, supernatural murders and fracking?
To make up for it, Magnus reunites with some of his oldest friends and meets some impressive new folks as well. Will they all have enough resources, energy, and skills to stop the bad guys from waking an evil of near-biblical proportions? And will the retired Einherjar survive his pet Raven's newfound voice and judgmental sarcasm?
Steve Curry uses an eclectic range of experiences as story fuel. From the US Army Chemical Weapons program to high-end resort kitchens, and even ICUs, Steve plugs real tidbits into his fantastic and fictional worlds. His current forays into writing are Urban Fantasy infused with lots of mythology, new age religion, supernatural goodness and real-world history along with a soupcon of Jim Butcher’s humor, and a few pinches of Robert Parker’s character-building traits. I was so disappointed with the way this book started. Both of the women in his life, whom he considers to be family, put him down and treat him like crap. All the while he’s come out of hiding to help. Norse warrior over 1000 years old and people he thinks of his family are allowed to treat him like that, and he doesn’t even get upset? Just mopes off, awww shucks. I’m sorry, I love my family and my friends, but one of them punches me in the mouth... The least I’m gonna do is get as far away from them as I possibly can, And I’m not a Viking.
Steve Curry has done it again. In his unique narrative, he has taken me on a journey that I don't know how it will end. From Cowboys to Roughnecks to trolls, you never know what's going to happen next.
