The freedoms of this world…

….will be paid for with the blood of patriots.

What is the price of survival?

The Five Falls survivors lost nearly everything in the Chicom and SAA assaults, but they haven’t lost their will to live, their determination to take their country back or the fighting spirit needed to do both.

The war won’t unfold the way you think.

Hardened warriors like Logan, Skylar and Riker have endured the worst, and now they’re putting it all on the line to take the country back. But they can’t do it alone. They’ll need help.

In a David vs. Goliath battle, who will finally control America?

What our patriots are attempting next will test their grit, their fortitude and their desire to triumph over the invading hordes. Not everyone will survive, however, for far-reaching conflicts such as these are ugly and cruel, and they always extract their pound of flesh.

The Dark Days of the After series comes to an end in this hard-hitting, but deeply poignant final chapter advanced readers are now calling “Ryan Schow’s finest book by far!”

So, the handful of resistance from Five Falls has managed to get the armies of China and South America to wear each other down enough so like 5 of them could take out the remnants.

Overall for the series I was disappointed. The main characters were all just over the top....they went to a Krav Maga class and came out as John Wick. Somehow, the main protagonists are able to overcome injuries, beatings, and gunshot wounds that damn near kill them, to continue to fight on like a damn ninja. The professional armies they are up against simply don't stand a chance against such tactics as

1) sneak up on a vehicle and shoot the occupants, then the next team leap frogs and shoots the vehicle in front, and repeat.

2) dig a big hole in the road so the convoy falls in.

3) infiltrate the highest level of the Army with a "prisoner" with hot intel that can only be shared with the commanding general.

The list goes on.

Then there is this romanticism of killing and torture. The main characters all seem to be in competition about who can be the most brutal and blood thirsty; but meanwhile, they all caution the others about how the war might change them. The glamorizing of certain sodomy with a broomstick was really too much.

SO....points for excitement, but that's about all. This should have been a single book about how a small band of resistance saved their small part of the state, and ended with that.

Great writing!

The end of the series. Enjoyed it all. I am going to say this. But, I must be a sexist. This is a great book for guys. The shooting and knifing (or is it stabbing?) someone doesn't bother me. BUT the detail. I felt every sound of the knife entering the body and felt it twist, every bullet, every hit because the author wrote so well....I now know how to stab someone in a way to make them bleed out quickly. It is like a YouTube video only using words. Fellow readers. That takes skill to write something you can see with your eyes closed. ( My kindle was reading to me. )

Then at the end....(still in sexist mode), it had a happily ever after moment.

I definitely recommend not only this book but the whole series.

The Purge

Ryan Schow wraps up his Dark Days series with Dark Days of the Purge. Resistance fighters take on America’s enemies and invading armies in this action packed novel. Various factions of militia minded men and women join together to take back their America. Fighting against the overwhelming numbers of two warring armies, our heroes unite their talents and determination. The incredible conclusion of Dark Days demonstrates what a few people can do when willing to pay the price and make the ultimate sacrifices required to win wars. The cost of liberty is eternal vigilance by all and the blood of many.

The Beginning of the End

This is a fierce and fast paced series! I thought the Japanese were cruel during WWII, be prepared for some ghoulish activity. I will say that the resolve of the America. Spirit is strong. The main characters lived and died hard. This is what makes this series a success. All the hero’s do not have a happy ending. The Chicoms are tough, ruthless and mean as an old witch. Just not tough enough!

This is the final book of this series and I have enjoyed it throughout all five books. This had the interesting premise of the country being under the domination of an oppressive military foreign force and the resistance to regain our sovereignty. There have been some grammar and writing errors here and there but nothing too glaring. The whole series has been very dark and this final book was very, very dark, but somehow was able to end on a positive.

This was devastatingly f***ing awesome! What an emotional squirrel suit ride, it's sad to see the end of this series. We're gonna miss these characters and, look forward to the next ones this talented writer will bring to us to watch pillage the next world!!

Best series maybe ever!

This book concludes one of the darkest yet amazing series I’ve ever read. Logan is an absolute monster and skyler is an unbelievably awesome killer . I absolutely fell in love with these characters and I’m really sad for this to be the last book, but what a ride!⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

A brilliant set of books

I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and found them likeable and relatable.
The descriptions of locations really helped set the picture for me, the towns, cities and rural areas in particular.
You really got a feel for who life is under Chicom rule and the communist regime.

Highly recommend!

The first book was a little difficult to get in the groove with one after the other it flowed well. The story was great and the characters were wonderful.

Although fiction you can read between the lines especially the last minutes in Yale. Sadly several never made it out of there.

Was a great series with a great ending. Great job Ryan.

I NEVER leave reviews (but always rate) the books I finish, but I had to comment on this series. It is absolutely eerie how true to life this series is as relates to what is happening in our country at this very moment. If you want to understand how a country falls from the inside, absolutely read this series.

Wow...

Ryan Schow delivers everything from a gut punch to unbridled laughter. I’ve felt the highs and lows as if the characters written out in the pages of this series were my friends and family. I’ve felt the sting of loss and spark of joy. War is brutal and the reader is not spared. Even so, this series is an astounding story.

The purge

An eye for an eye...The intrepid combatants utilize strategy & trickery to level the playing field. Blood runs in rivers. Will they be victorious? Who will they lose? This book is a grand finale to the series. Well done Ryan Schow!

Yes the series is dark, yes it's violent, yes it's explicit. But what war isn't. Schow does an excellent job with all of those items and then some. His imagery is second to none. When he describes the setting it is with such great detail that the reader can see it themselves.

A series like this it always a little sad to get to the end. I think all great series have that in common. I really enjoyed the trip these characters took me on throughout. High octane action and great characters really made this a stellar read.
