Newcomer artist JENNY D. FINE shines alongside Marvel Comics’ Iceman writer SINA GRACE and co-creator OMAR SPAHI in the all-new modern dramedy you didn’t know you needed! Sam and Jack are best friends, and Sam is dating Lauren, Jack’s indie rocker sister and roommate. When Sam and Lauren open up their long-term relationship, skyrocketing tensions send social shockwaves through their friend group and the entire Bay Area. And Jack, caught in the middle of it all, may be forced to take sides in a conflict he never wanted to be a part of. Life gets pretty messy when you’re in your 20s and your friends are your family.
I really like this issue. This was a splendid start to the series and the exploration of becoming who you are in your 20s and the messiness that comes with it. I also really like the art style; it was unique and something that I haven't seen before.
I'm going to use the definitely overused phrase (at least by me) and say: this was fine. This issue has started some interesting dialogue about friends and family melding and how you deal with changing relationships. I was mostly turned off by this issue by the weird grifter guy because that didn't seem to go anywhere, or do anything, except to show that Jack is very open and trusting. Which could've been said with one sentence and gotten the same effect, but maybe it is a running joke that I am clueless about since this is the first issue. Also I really wasn't interested in the dialogue about having an open relationship, but not having enough communication to even get to that point. Maybe this comic will say more about open relationships than the media I have run across but so far this feels like it is also just following the trend. 3 stars for an okay story and vey nice artwork.
I really enjoyed this purely because it is relatable. While I haven't experienced a love triangle such as the characters have, I understand the emotional roller coaster that comes from breakups. I think this issue did an above average job at conveying emotion.
Yeah, I'm not sure what this was supposed to be about.
I wouldn't say that I was expecting anything from it, because I picked it up without knowing much about it, but I disliked both the artwork and the uninteresting storyline(s).
