3.5 rounded up. An exciting new installment to this series. It shows the struggles after an EMP, and how the community has to work together for survival. Thanks to the author for a digital ARC of this book.

You know this is taking place many years after the EMP and yet the book does not have that desperate apocalypse feel to it.  This is a book about 2 families that have hated each other for 150 years and how they have fought all that time.  There is a lot of feeling of love on both families and hatred when love comes to one person from each family. The characters are wonderful and fleshed out so that you become familiar with them.  Added to all of this is a gang of outlaws escaped from prison and the action is very realistic.  Charlie's writing skill really shines through in this book.  The ending is, well you really do not want to know that now.  The last thing I can say is that I enjoyed this book very very much and recommend it highly.  It is quite a story.

Good but not as...

The first two books were more interesting and the characters were excellent. In this book three, Katie didn’t seem to have the depth as she did in the first two books. Still exciting at times and I definitely will look forward to the next book! After all, what happens to Ella?

The 3rd book in this post apocalyptic survival thriller and we find our group of friends and family of Katie and Camden trying to settle down to life at the barn when two young people turn up at their doors. Louisa and Luke are two young people from the Thornhill and the Wedge family, the two families have been in a feud for the past 150 years but these two happened to fall in love and ran away together. Trouble was they ran to the barn, and the feuding families came looking for them. Katie refused to let them split them up, and take them home, and she stood her ground as only she knows how to do. Also, since the power supply had been down, the prison for hardened criminals a few miles away from the barn, had a break out with many prisoners making a run for it, among these were members of the Chelsea Smile Gang, a notorious group whose evil leader was unable to escape because he was in solitary confinement. Michael, the leader of the escapees, decided they would break his friend out of prison, and they take Katie and Bill’s family hostage to force the authorities to release Quintin one of the most hardened of prisoners. The story is full of heart stopping moments, as Katie tries to negotiate her way with the police, and the feuding families, to see their way through this new problem without loss of their loved ones lives, and she walks a tightrope doing this. I just love the development of this very exciting series and its courageous and strong characters and the bit of romance blooming on the horizon showing that even in the darkest of times love will find a way. I am really looking forward to reading book 4.

Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third instalment in the Cut Off series following the post apocalyptic world after an EMP strike. This time Katie and co are trying to rebuild their lives and manage the farm to the best of their abilities after the recent escapade with the army. But things never seem to go smoothly for the band of survivors and they become embroiled in a 150 year old feud between to local families when 2 younger members of the families run away together and end up at the lodge. Throw into the mix a notoriously savage gang of criminals from a prison and we have the recipe for much adventure and blood shed. Loved it and can’t wait to see what the future holds in store for the small group of determined souls.
