I read this under the misunderstanding it was a mystery thriller, but to me, it's more 80% romance novel. I'm not into romances. I finished it because I was hoping it would become a thriller, then I read too much to DNF, so I finished it out of respect.

If you are into romance novels with a touch of mystery thriller, you may enjoy this. If the heroine wasn't so focused on love, the book might have been a cozy mystery.

book is in desperate need of an editor

I did not major in English lit in college but there were so many grammatical errors and missing words that it was distracting. Conversations sounded like they were straight out of junior high school student. I was so disappointed I’m this book

It had been 10 years since Jamie had been home, since the day her best friend disappeared. Upon her return, the first thing she runs into was a murder in town. It was her other best friend. Was it somehow related to her friend’s disappearance?

Jamie, along with her sheriff dad and police brother, try to piece together the final events of the victim’s life while figuring out if there was a connection to their past. As the case is underway, story relives the time from 10 years ago when her friend disappeared. What was interesting was that one week before Lyla disappeared, Jamie saw her get into their coach’s car.

As the story progresses, Jamie goes back to old memories, even a first love she left behind. It has a lag with going back and forth (past and present.) Interesting that they call it Terror Island, but I don’t see the terror…in any of it. The mystery sounds compelling and all, but it just didn’t rev me up enough. It’s okay, I guess.

4.5 stars! I picked this up on a whim and it ended up being such a pleasant surprise! I really liked the plot! The mystery was very engaging and there were some good twists! I enjoyed Jamie and Ryan's romance--I am a sucker for a good second chance! I would have liked just a touch more development at times, but overall I really liked it!

I am always looking for a psychological thriller, which I thought this one was, but isn't. It does have well established characters and some good twists so I rated it five star. It was an easy read and kept me guessing. If you like romance it has that too. I was hoping for more serial killer vibe, but still a good read.

Enjoy these books, by author. Easy reading with a twist of murder, and reacquainting with a love from the past. Nothing like coming back to the island, and a murder has happened. Brings back memories of the past and a good friend disappeared.

Mystery/romance

If you like both mysteries and romance, this is a good choice to read. The two elements are blended from the very start of the book and the setting for the story is well developed.

This was a mystery about a woman coming back home for her brother's wedding and is faced with not only the love of her life, but all of the problems she wanted to leave behind.

I discuss the book more in depth on my podcast: https://bit.ly/3QT9YkF

Great thriller

This story snagged you from page one. Loved the way the author would go from past to the present. Never would have guessed who the killer ended up being. Loved the romantic thread as well.

Missing something

The story just didn't do it for me. I didn't like going back and forth to 10 years ago. Although it was necessary for this particular story it just didn't float my boat.

I liked Ryan and Jamie together. I like how he had so many reasons to be angry with her, he didn’t care and only wanted to be with her. I also thoroughly enjoyed the murder mystery plot and I knew who the murderer was but there was still a twist for me. Would definitely read again!

Good but ok

Good book kept you in suspense. Might've enjoyed it more if I didn't keep bouncing back forth ten years. Enjoyed it overall

Another Great Book

I enjoyed this book. The way MS. Scott makes mystery and romance converge is wonderful. Jamie and Ryan's story is sad, happy, convincing, and meant to be.

Nice Read

Predictable plot but easy reading. Guessed both killers halfway thru the book. Light reading. Character not rounded out very well.

Story seemed pretty good, but there were many grammar errors and typos in this book. I liked the idea, but it fell short for me.
