FBI seriel killer hunter Hank Rawlings is knee-deep in dead bodies. Prison guards. Inmates. Innocents. A pair of sheriff’s deputies. A soccer mom. All murdered by an escaped con named Charles “Chuck” Burr, a man who has cut a bloody path from Louisiana to Texas. For Hank, the assignment is easy: find Burr and bring him to justice. With everything pointing to the Waco area, the bureau is quickly nipping at their target’s hells. But Burr will choose death over being put in another cage. He finally has his freedom, and he’ll kill anyone that tries to take that from him - FBI agents included.

The plot has been peppered with enough action and thrill to keep me hooked throughout. Burr is a serial killer and has escaped prison. Hank has to find him before Burr inflicts even more injuries and dead bodies on his way. The story was a mix of police procedural work and excellent action as the two people play cat and mouse throughout. Enjoyed it.
I love Agent Rawlings. He's always getting beat up, shot or hit by a car and still gets His villain. This time He's a keto diet. How awesome is that? I live in Texas and I've heard what dangers a visitor (especially in an Official Badge Carrying way) may encounter, well, Hank Rawlings anyway. lol Asa always E. H. Reinhard has captivated My attentions with another great read.
I can't believe that I never heard of this author before. I have read all the Kane books, the Lt. Kane 4 book series and now Rawlings, who is from previous books. I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!! Fantastic Author. Thank you E.H. Reinhard
A serial killer has escaped prison in Louisiana and is killing people in Texas as he keeps running. An FBI agent is sent from the Manassas field office.
The book alternated chapters more or less from the serial killer, Chuck, with the FBI agent. -Half of this book was great. -The other half after I figured it out had no new information pretty quickly and started skimming them I skimmed.
What I liked: -Chuck the serial killer was very well developed. -Great action scenes with Chuck. -Excellent as Chuck was followed on his escape.
What I didn't like-ALL OF THE FBI STUFF: -I don't even remember the main guy. -Way too many FBI/cop names introduced -The chapters for the FBI just covered whatever had just happened in an action scene. (skip them) -The ending was so so...the FBI shot him.
This was a strange book for me. My only interest was getting back to a chapter about Chuck.
The author is too detailed. Who cares about the decor of the hotel room? The grammatical errors drive me crazy. None of the characters learned you don’t end a sentence with a preposition!! At does not belong at the end of the sentence- I’m beginning to believe it’s not the characters, but the author who does not know better.
It’s a good story line but brutal. As usual Hank ends up in the hospital.
This was an intense and suspenseful thriller that will hook you from beginning to end. The FBI's newest case is a bit unusual for them. An escaped convict that has left a trail of bodies across the country, and is getting more destructive with every murder. It's certainly not a story to be missed. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
This story grabbed me right away and never let go. I tend to go from book to book, reading several at the same time, if a story is slow or uninteresting but no problem here. Good character build and the protagonist was relatable, surprisingly so considering the occupation. This book will not disappoint.
This awesome storyteller and fine author, Mr. Reinhard, never fails to deliver thrillers extraordinaire. I could say the same for every single novel he has written ~ simply, very enjoyable reads that never disappoint, ever! Thank you, my friend for hours of pure enjoyment!
Hard to make a serial killer yarn dull and plodding. But this one does. Too much talk and repetition. The killer is heinous but he is robotic. Like the shark in jaws it is just chomp, chomp, chomp. No real background or motivation. Just a one dimensional killing machine. The agents talk too much. Okay but a chore to get through.
I love these books, interesting criminals and yes police procedural were it is actually police procedural rather than as so many are just angst driving sob story about the tortured souls of the lead character.
Hank and Beth make a great team. They follow the evidence, and are hot on the heels of a serial killer. They arrive in Texas, and follow the trail of dead bodies to the killer. Well written, great characters, great story- a sprinkle of humor.
These books are always pretty gory, but you have to know that if you are looking at a book about the FBI chasing a serial killer. However, it didn't get too detailed about the gore, and there was no torture. Another good one by E.H. Reinhard!
Talk about a page turner! I had to finish this book before I would let myself close the book and go to sleep. If you like a book that grabs you and won't turn you loose, better read this one.
This book would be good for anyone who enjoys a FBI /series killer hunt. The procedures were spelled out thoughtfully and everything made sense. That's why I have it five stars.
Escaped convict goes on a killing spree to escape the police and FBI. Sad so many innocent people were killed because of him. Eventually he is caught but far to late.
If you want a fast paced read.. this is the book for you. Not for the squeamish. A very descriptive tale of one man's horrific murderous spree after escaping prison.; desperate to never go back.
A real page turner. The FBI, working with local authorities must track down a merciless killer. Graphic detail and non-stop action will keep the reader guessing.
E.H. Reinhard is my new favorite author. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Just enough description to get my imagination going. No overkill there. I prefer to picture the happenings on my own.
This was the first time reading a book by E.H Reinhard. I have say I true enjoyed this book. I'm about to start the next book in the series. I want see what Agent Rawlings will get into next!
I am addicted to this author and crazy about all the different series that are related. Full of lots of action. Book one was great, looking forward to the next.
I enjoy the non-stop twists and turns in this story. Hank and his partner Beth stayed in the trail and caught the bad guy! Good story and I look forward to more Rawlings adventures.
This story kept you on your toes until the end. Lots of action. The main character Burr had no remorse for any of his actions. A true psycho. Loved the main FBI character. I love this author I read all of his books. You can never go wrong with this author
Hank, Beth, Bill & Scott end up back in Texas chasing Chuck Burr an FBI top ten wanted prison escapee. The bodies pile up as Chuck has only getting away on his mind. A quick, savage tale of a total psychopath vs a top team of FBI agents.
After the last book in the main character's series, I'd had hoped for a change in scenery. I can say that the storyline was fun and that the ending was a it should be.
Beth and Hank return to Texas on the trail of a convicted felon. Along the way are bodies who try to stop him. I wish there was more about Hank and Beth and fewer descriptions of the slaughter.
