Nerdy Little Secret

Rate this book
I’m sleeping with the nerd.
The nice guy.
The science geek who wears periodic table t-shirts around campus.

That’s my dirty little secret, but it began long before he unknowingly transferred to the same college I attend. We met at the summer camp I was mandated to work at, and our hush-hush affair started behind the kayak cabin and in the darkened canteen long after our respective campers went to sleep.

When Mick Barrett, rockstar name a complete red herring, enrolls at Salem Walsh University, we’re both shocked the first time we bump into each other. And he’s … surprisingly cold. With goals and secrets of his own, Mick is closed off and uninterested, something I’ve never encountered from the opposite sex.

My bruised ego has no time to recover, however, when he discovers the real secret I’m keeping, one that’s even more detrimental than our steamy summer fling. Agreeing to become my tutor, and help me save my future, the glasses-wearing swimmer, with the body of an Olympian under that punny math sweatshirt, begins to grow on me. Again.

Except we both have bigger things to focus on than sneaking around. Plus, we’re not made for each other. He’s aiming to be the next doctor of our generation, while I’m just hoping to survive my Saturday morning hangover.

Too bad our bodies, and hearts, start to believe otherwise.
Which has me questioning; can my dirty little secret become a happily ever after?

This is not a genre I generally read, but thought it will be a change. That it was – a quick, easy and feel-good read.

Mick is an intelligent and serious sort, very focused on making a career as a doctor. His father has ALS, which makes him all the more determined to contribute to research and finding a cure. He meets with Jolie, who is an outgoing and fun-loving girl, who has wealthy parents. Surprisingly, despite having very little in common, both are strongly attracted to each other. They meet again in college - Salem Walsh University, and Jolie runs into trouble with some reckless fun. Their differing personalities, goals & approaches continues to add an element of stress to the relationship, and yet they cannot stay away from each other either.

In many ways, this is just another love story. Nevertheless, it does handle the relationship involving very different personality types and life situations quite well. Also, I found the last few sections to be well written, including a nice finish.

My rating: 3.5 / 5.

I really enjoyed the description in this book, nowadays, that is really lost in a lot of book, usually excluding fantasy. Many authors skip over details about a place that they haven’t experienced for a while or ever been to, which I understand. The college was really described well, I could almost lay it out in my head.

I adored Mick. He is everything I want in a man. Romance heroes are often portrayed as god-like figures. And if they aren’t, they are the devil incarnate. Mick was so refreshing! He was just a good guy. His attributes were a little over-played, however. He was a nerd (very intelligent) and a well-toned swimmer.

Jolie wasn’t my favorite heroine of all time, but not even close to the worst. She was a tad-bit snobbish. Ironically, he was way out of her league, in my opinion. The book spent a little too much time on her.

Overall, if you want a light read with a great hero, pick this up!

FIVE SWEET STARS for Jolie and Mick 💚💚💚!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I enjoyed every minute of reading this book!

It was a real refreshment and enjoyment after the many suspense romances I’ve been reading lately.

Carrie's writing style is simple but special.

"Nerdy Little Secret" is a romantic comedy with a lot of funny moments that will make you laugh the whole time but there are also sweet moments that will melt your heart.

Jolie is a female character who has shown how a person can change to be a better human, but only if she wants to and how everyone deserves a second chance.

Mick is a male character you won't often see in books.

What I liked most about him was his dedication to the family and ultimately his fight to win Jolie’s heart back after hurting her.

Jolie and Mick’s relationship is special because they are both pure opposites.

As the proverb says: "Opposites attract."

And they confirmed that rule.

If you're looking for a sweet and funny book, then this is a book that you need to read right now!

Highly recommended!!!

Nerdy Little Secret is the latest full-length novel by the immensely talented author, Carrie Aarons. I found it to be a cute, sexy and lighthearted read. From the chemistry, to the heartfelt conversations, to the fiery hot sexy times and the sweetest of feels, Carrie brings everything to the table in this fabulous college romance.

Mick and Jolie are the very definition of opposites attracting. Mick is a hard-working, goal-oriented science nerd, and Jolie is a beautiful, selfish party girl. You would never expect these two to get together, but that's exactly what happens after meeting at summer camp. They can't keep their hands off of each other and spend the entire summer sneaking around.

But they say all good things must come to an end and that's exactly what happens. The summer ends, and the two of them go their separate ways. But then the unexpected happens. They find themselves at the same college, and the spark between them quickly reignites. Will their steamy hot summer fling turn into a happily ever after for them?

I absolutely loved this story of two people who are so different, but so perfect for each other. If you're looking for a sweet, heartfelt and hot romance that will sweep you off your feet, then this book is the one for you. Five stars for Jolie, Mick and Nerdly Little Secret!

*** 4 "Hot Mess VS. Hot Nerd!!" stars***

AVAILABLE NOW!

"I’m sleeping with the nerd.
The nice guy.
The science geek who wears periodic table t-shirts around campus.
That’s my dirty little secret..."

This was a cute and very refreshing reading...
From the moment that i've read the blurb of the book, I'd liked the idea of these two opposite characters and what i liked more was that it was the definition of the opposite on nowadays readings...
Usually we are having the hot alpha male and the blushing girl-virgin, but the heroes in here were exact what you wouldn't waiting for and that was intriguing and charming. No?

"We call this the perfect summer and put a bow on it."

Well, Jolie and Mick met at a summer camp and they hit it off right away, but as everything good, their summer fling had to come to an end...
What they are not expecting is that fate has other plans for them and that they will meet again on the same campus!!!

"The electrical charge that had always sparked between us was still there."

Did I mention that Mick is a hot nerd??? The truth is that if Mick was a real person i would be drown to him too!!! He was a nerd but in a very hot way!!! I swear to you!!! Bahahaha...
Jolie is the irresponsible party girl... The girl that can make you live a little wild, but she has tons of problems right now...
These two couldn't be more different, but they were fitting really good together.
They were the definition of the opposite attracks..

"I've always been looking for the perfect Prince Charming, and the truth is, he's right in front of me. Except Mick is a brainiac wrapped in tinfoil instead of suits of armor, and hell, isn't that just the most romantic thing you ever heard?"

I really liked this couple, but Mick had stolen the spotlight.
I loved everything about this guy!!! I liked how focused on his goals he were and how straightforward was as a person!!! I liked how steamy he was when he was with Jolie... I loved when he was more carefree... Jolie was good for him... And he was good for Jolie...
She was a wild, spoiled girl, but Mick taught her a great lesson and she had found the balance that she was needing in her life...
These two were great together. Period.

"Who knew that my secret fling from summer camp would end up being my forever?"

I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate, either. I liked it for what it was. I’m pretty sure this book was made to just be entertained for a while and to have a quick fun read in an afternoon. And that’s exactly what it did to me. Like I liked it but I’ll probably forget about it in a few weeks. Mick was nice. I liked him a lot. It just bothered me he was labeled “nerd” when he wasn’t lol. He was just dedicated, there’s a difference. I wasn’t sure of Jolie in the beginning but by the end I had warmed up to her, so it’s all good. I imagined like 3-5 different conflicts and even though I was close to the real conflict, I think mine were better. Just because they made more sense lol. But again, it’s fine for what it was. I liked the author and I’ll probably give her another chance in the future.

P.S. STRANGER THINGS IS NOT A NERD THING.

4.5 stars!

Nerdy Little Secret is the latest swoon worthy book from Carrie Aarons, and I devoured the whole thing in one day, I loved it that much.

Mick and Jolie have a hot summer fling when they both work as camp counsellors. Jolie is gorgeous, outgoing and a bit of a wild child, whereas Mick is her complete opposite, he’s nerdy, a bit awkward and driven to achieve his goals. But their chemistry is through the roof and spend the summer getting to know each other, but at the end of the break, part amicably. Mick has a difficult home life; his father is terminally ill with ALS and he has been his primary carer since high school. Now, having found fulltime care for him, Mick can finally transfer to his dream university and start his dream of becoming a doctor. So, imagine his surprise on the first day of the new year, he runs into Jolie on campus. Jolie’s history of being a bit wild has finally caught up with her and she’s having to face the consequences of her actions. But growing up in a privileged community, she knows what will happen if her secrets come out and her friends get wind of what happened. So, when she sees Mick, she brushes him off so as to not have to explain how they know each other. Mick is upset and decides to write Jolie off as the spoilt rich girl façade she puts out. But Mick’s a nice guy and offers to tutor Jolie when she admits to failing classes. What will happen when they spend more time together? Are they destined to be anything more than a summer fling? Will Jolie admit her secrets to Mick, and her friends?

Mick is such a sweetheart, and a gorgeous, kind and smart sweetheart at that. I loved how he was so determined, he had goals and he knew he reach them because he had no choice. He was a nice guy, and for once, he didn’t finish last. He knew that Jolie was different underneath the persona, but after being on the receiving end of her spoilt attitude a few too many times, he’s nearly ready to move on from their summer, despite their chemistry. But he knows that something is wrong, and his nice guy personality refuses to not get to the bottom of it. He was going through so much and had the weight of his world on his shoulders, it was bound to become overwhelming and his actions at the end whilst disappointing, were understandable. But he redeemed himself, he lay everything on the line to make sure Jolie knew how much he cared about her.

Jolie’s character took me a while to warm up to because I couldn’t deal with how she acted, like she didn’t have any responsibility, but also sulked when she finally got caught. I disliked how she was with Mick, for the first half of the book I thought he deserved better, or how she continued to lie to her ‘best friends’ but when she finally started peeling back her layers, I started to like her a lot more. By the end, I really admired her character, how she knew she wasn’t being the best version of herself and took a step back to try and work out how to be, and that didn’t necessarily mean being with Mick. I still didn’t really understand how she could keep her secrets from her supposed best friends who knew her so well, and they didn’t seem like great friends not realising what was truly happening. I think that whole group live in such a bubble, it got slightly annoying. But, like I said, by the end, I really liked how her character developed thought out the book and she became the person she wanted to be.

The storyline with Mick’s dad was heart-breaking but very realistic, it highlights how difficult it is to have a family member suffer with ALS and watching them slowly deteriorate. Mick was like any son would be, trying everything he could to help his father. It was so admirable but at the same time, my heart ached because I knew he was in denial about how serious his father’s condition was. I was so happy he had the love of Jolie to support him during such a hard time.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, as frustrating as it was for the first half with Jolie’s treatment of Mick. But in the end, it proved that opposites attract, and in some ways, you need someone who is different to you to help balance you out, pull you out of your comfort zone and show you different ways to be happy. Jolie and Mick had an unconventional start to their relationship, with secrets and sneaking around, but by the end they were great together, and I really enjoyed reading the story to their HEA.

This one time, at summer camp…

I have to admit, I was hooked after the very first sentence. LOL. Kidding...or am I? I absolutely adored this well-written, opposites attract story. Holy hot nerd alert!

Mick is an adorably sexy, super smart nerd who’s confident and talented…in certain areas…if you know what I mean. Jolie is beautiful and popular. She’s the rich, spoiled, party girl whose parents pay for everything and give her anything…except for what she actually needs and wants - attention, affection, love.

Mick has a lot on his plate, lots to worry about, school is very important to him. He doesn’t have time for anything other than focusing on school. No parties and certainly no gorgeous and irresistible wild girls.

These two together made me smile. They are so good. They complemented each other perfectly. They couldn’t stay away from each other. Neither one wanted, nor had the time for, a relationship. But their chemistry was too strong for them to deny, and how hard they fell was inevitable.

I loved how real Mick and Jolie were with each other. Mick brought out the best in her and made her want to be a better person. Jolie made Mick break out of his comfort zone and realize it’s okay to have a good time too.

This story was fun, it was sexy, and it has plenty of heart. It was my first read by this author and I really look forward to reading more from her!

This was such a fun and sweet read by Carrie! Chemistry, opposites attract, and funny moments all wrapped into one NA romance. Two people, one hot summet fling that started at the camp they work at. After their secretive fling ends then see each other again in the fall at school. Though this was a lighthearted and fun read, there was a little drama in this romcom. Mick and Jolie couldn’t be anymore different but they are great together. Mick the nerdy hot guy and Jolie the popular yet reckless girl. Mick was definitely the favorite character in this story, it honestly took me a little bit to warm up to Jolie’s personality and ways.
Overall I really like Carrie’s writing style and this book. It was a cute and fun read and once I got past the first few chapters, it was pretty quick!

2020 is officially the year of Carrie Aarons!!!! Every book Carries has released this year has been a huge hit!! 🎉

I was THRILLER when Carrie shared she was writing a story about a hot nerd. No ones a bigger fan of a hot nerd than me!

This book started off a little slow and I really struggled to Jolie and found her very unlikeable 😅 Carrie’s strength is making us truly fall for her male leads! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

The star of this book was Mick. He gets every star in this universe 🌟 He was everything. Wow. I loved Jason in TtWILY but I think Mick is my new fav guy by Carrie. He is as loyal, determined, and as sweet as they come. He also has a sexy side that comes out. Mick had the weight of the world on his shoulders and Jolie helped him let loose.

This book was steamy and fun but also covered some serious topics.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Carrie Aarons does it again. She has written fantastic sports series, family series, and stories of lost loves. In this book, she moves into a new area of love interests: the nerd and the popular girl.

I loved Mick and Jolie's romance. What starts out innocently enough at a camp where they are counselors, turns crazy when they end up in the same college. What ensues is a slow burn friendship, hot burning romance, and fiery end. The characters are well developed and multi-dimensional. It is hard not to fall in love with them, both individually and as a couple. There is enough angst and family drama to make it interesting, but not overwhelming.
Watching the two grow and mature, learn from mistakes, and make concessions for what they want in each other is a fun read. There are serious elements to the story in Mick’s family and school situation as well as the situation Jolie has gotten herself into. There are also funny parts-they are in college after all!

Overall, the book is a great read from beginning to end. This story demonstrates that there are times to be serious and times to let go. Opposites can attract and make an amazing couple. This is a fun read that will leave you smiling. You never know what event in your life becomes life changing, and Mick and Jolie’s story is a great example of taking advantage of that moment.

I loved Mick and Jolie’s story! I guess the saying is true that opposites attract. They may be different but they each bring something different to the relationship that helps to make the other want to become a better version of themselves. I read this book in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down!

Nerdy Little Secret
is a romantic comedy standalone and tells the story of Jolie and Mick.

I really loved Nerdy Little Secret from the beginning until the end! I really liked Jolie and Mick’s story and I wanted to know how they would get their happily ever after. I also really liked the fact that Mick’s dad has ALS, it was nice reading more about the illness. Nerdy Little Secret was such an amazing and fast paced read, and I finished it in one sitting.

I really enjoyed reading about Jolie and Mick because they’re so different, but perfect for each other. I think that Mick is such a cute guy but also one of the best boyfriends ever. I loved it when he defended Jolie. Jolie is not your average rich girl, she’s so much more. I think Jolie and Mick are one of the cutest couples ever!

I really like opposites attract romances and this one was just great! Carrie Aarons did an amazing job with Nerdy Little Secret, it was a cute and hot read! I highly recommend reading Nerdy Little Secret if you want to read a fun and sexy opposites attract book. I cannot wait to read the next book by Carrie Aarons because I’m sure I’m going to love that one too!

This just might be my new favorite Carrie Aarons book! She nailed my love for nerds and I am all about it! Just the right amount of naughty and a whole lot of hot nerdness 🤓💕

Jolie gets herself in some trouble in college and is forced to spend the summer working at a summer camp. That's her community service. She happens to meet a smoking hot nerd there and they have a naughty summer fling. When the summer ends, she finds herself at a community college to work on the other part of her punishment. One year at a community college with exemplary grades and they'll admit her back into her fancy college. Easy enough, right? Wrong...

She runs into Mick not far from campus and can't believe the odds. Her naughty fling is now attending the college she's pretending to attend. No one can know that she's at community college or she'll never live it down.

Mick is trying to graduate early so he can get into medical school and help find a cure for ALS. His dad was diagnosed 6 years ago and he's determined to help find the cure. He takes on a huge class load and is interning for the head ALS research professor. Life is going exactly how he wants it to. Until Jolie shows back up in his life. He can't seem to walk away from her and yet he knows he doesn't have time to get too close. He offers to help tutor her in biology so that she'll actually pass, but that's it. He'll keep her secret safe.

They strike up a deal that works for both of them. He helps her pass biology and she doesn't push for more. Pretty soon, exchanges get heated and they're right back where they were at summer camp. Hot and heavy, with a side of lab coats.

If you've got a thing for hot nerds like I do, then this is the book for you!

Finding The One To Cherish

The nerdy guy gets the popular girl in this sweet and sexy college romance. Mick and Jolie will win your heart with their witty banter and intense attraction!

He’s the guy she met while working at a summer camp. They had a ton of fun going wild during their summer fling. Neither expected to see the other again, so they made their time together count!!!

Now college is back in session and Mick shows up on campus. Jolie is surprised to see him and her reaction shows it. She’s wealthy, beautiful and a popular girl on campus. Sometimes that snobbery she was raised with rears it’s ugly head at the wrong time. Now she has to hide more than one secret.

Mick’s just transferred in to Salem Walsh University. He’s a driven young man, who has his sights set on graduating early so that he can start medical school. He’s shouldering a heavy course load and adult responsibilty from back home. Jolie is a complication he doesn’t need. So her less than warm welcome is fine by him.

Jolie doesn’t want to re-kindle what they shared, but she does need Mick’s help. However, being in close proximity makes it even harder to resist their attraction. They’ll both have to decide whether a friendship is all they want.

Each character has their own story to tell. Jolie is trying to figure out who she is and who she wants to be, apart from her family’s legacy. Mick is struggling to chase his dream while learning to enjoy life at the same time. They both have to find the balance between work and play.

Jolie and Mick were polar opposites in almost every way, but they fit together. Jolie’s strengths cover for Mick’s weaknesses and vice versa. Their chemistry is smokin’ hot! The nerdy guy has all the right moves. Mick was lovable and his dedication to his family was admirable. He is one of the best guys, the kind you keep. Jolie is a party girl struggling to find her place. She has the best of intentions, but sometimes her impulsivity leads her astray. Mick helps keep her grounded. Jolie helps him let loose.

Their love is gradual but their fall is beautiful. This fling to forever romance was the perfect pool day read and I loved it.

4.5 stars - really great read. Sweet and pretty steamy.

"He was everything I'd been told to avoid, and yet, he was the most hynotizing guy I'd ever been around.

Jolie Kenner and Mick Barrett are opposites in every way but they have chemistry for days. A summer fling was supposed to end when they each went home, so it was a shock to find out they were at the same college. However, Jolie has an image to maintain and, unfortunately, the two of them get off to a bad reunion.

"I feel myself falling into her. Her familiarity, the way I feel around her, how she keeps surprising me."

Things between them keep starting and stopping until they clear the air. Both are supposed to be focusing on their studies and goals for the year, but the connection and attraction they share just cannot be ignored.

"The dark swathes us, and I can practically feel my heart crack wide open, emotion for her pouring out in my joints and tendons."

I loved these two! Mick had my heart! He was a hella hot nerd!! I adored him. Jolie was misunderstood. She showed the world a facade they expected to see knowing her background, but she was crying out for love and to be seen for who she really was. I loved that the two of them could be real with one another. Jolie brought a little wildness to Mick's straight life and he brought rationality to hers. I loved how they balanced each other out. This was a sweet and pretty steamy read! Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love a good opposites attract read and Carrie hits the mark big time. And Jolie and Mick are the perfect example of opposites attract!

I loved Jolie and Mick’s story. They both had secrets and obstacles. I loved how they are total opposites but they bring out the absolute best out in each other. It was so entertaining watching their journey.

Overall, this was a fun and engaging story and full of swoon worthy moments. Carrie Aarons pens a great tale of love, life and laughter. The banter, the chemistry and the relationship between Jolie and Mick was fantastic.

Guys, I’ve officially found my new favorite trope!! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve alllllways loved the nerdy guys. But this trope where he’s all nerdy and adorable, then you get him in the bedroom and he’s straight-up alpha?! THAT’S my favorite. All the yassssssss!!!

This book was so perfect for me. Opposite characters, both broken in their own way, struggling to make it through this thing called life. I loved everything about this book. AND I’m ready to officially declare... I have a new book boyfriend. Mick, you’re all mine!!!

Loved that the most of book was drama free and we saw them slowly building a relationship from friends with benefits to an actual couple. Carrie Aarons is a 1 click must for me, I have read all of her books and they just keep getting better and better, if that is even possible. I will tell you that Nerdy Little Secret is an GREAT read that will totally give you the feels!

Mick is the best type of main man, the one that is loyal, hard working, nerdy, and pretty darn dependable. But when he meets the hottest girl ever at summer camp and have a SUPER HOT summer fling, they agree at the end of it to leave it there and go back to their lives. But what happens when they find out they are attending the same college after an intense summer? Guess you will just have to read to find out- and let me tell you that you don't want to this book!

All in all the characters were perfectly imperfect, which made them real and the story even better. These two both have secrets but an intense attraction. Can two complete opposites actually make it in the real world with outside responsibilities and social classes? I give this book 5 HUGE stars and recommend that you read it ASAP!

PS: Thank you so much to Carrie Aarons for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

Nerdy Little Secret has got to be one of the sweetest books I have read this year. I am a sucker for NA romances and this book shows why.

The blurb gives you all need to know about this book. I love the premise of this and Carrie wrote this story beautifully. Mick and Jolie are two characters that readers will fall in love with and wishing for their HEA.

Carrie does a great job of getting readers to connect to the characters and understand them more than just the surface of who they are. The flow is perfect as nothing is too rushed and Carrie doesn't lose the reader with the mundane day to day nuances of college life.

Nerd Little Secret is about as true to life as you can get with a college romance with how everything pans out (minus a few things that can only happen in a book or movie). The realism in this book is what helps make the book all the more enjoyable and the characters lovable.

Carrie always knows how to deliver a sweet romance that leaves you with this feeling of bliss. Nerdy Little Secret is just another example of why I will always read whatever she writes.

5 MICK AND NO LIE STARS!! I loved this book so much...it brought a smile to my face. These two are completely opposite of each other, but so right for each other in the connection department. Carrie Aarons is phenomenal storyteller that will have you flipping pages quickly...I read this book in one sitting.
