MillerThey called me the pretty boy on and off the ice. Hockey’s most eligible bachelor. When my teammate asked me to donate one date to his charity, I figured why not. Worst case, I’d spend the night with a fan. Best-case scenario, she would be hot. What I wasn’t expecting was for my dream girl to be the highest bidder. For years, she brushed me off, and now, I finally had a chance to take her out and show her who I really was. With only one shot at this, I really hoped I didn’t mess it up.LaylaAt the top of my career, I was riding the wave of my sports talk show having the best rating on the radio.I also made it a rule to never date any sports players. It was my one rule, and I was sticking to it until I bid on the only man who gets under my skin. All it takes is one touch, one night, one kiss, and only one chance.

DNF AT 95%. Ok I wrote literally a fucking novel about how much I absolutely despised this book, but my phone app crashed and it all got lost before I could post it. I doubt I’ll go back and rewrite everything, it will all depend on how angry I feel later today or tomorrow.

😈😈😈 I decided to come back to this after all bc I can't resist a rant about this garbage.

This book is technically safe but didn’t feel safe to me at all. I hated every second of this story and I wish I could punch the hero in his manwhore ballsack.

----

OK, I have decided to come back to this review because I have read a few more of Natasha Madison's books in this series now and I'm just so irritated. Did she decide to just stop trying while writing these books?? There is an extreme lack of logic, and extreme lack of respect towards women, a lot of "not like the other girls" commentary added in. I absolutely did not notice this stuff being as bad in some of her older books.

Spoilers Below...

The most egregious part of this book to me was how strong the heroine was originally portrayed (especially in the previous book) but then how totally weak willed and stupid she became once this book started. She stayed away from the manwhore hero for 4 years because she knew that he was just like her ex husband (who was also a professional athlete, a womanizer, and then cheated on her)... but then one day she randomly bids $25k for a date with this "hero"? Because other women were also bidding and she got jealous? LOL. What an epic joke. Supposedly, this hero has always wanted the heroine SO BADLY. A few times the author uses the words "he was in love with her"... and yet, he hooked up with countless OW over all those years. He even did it in front of the heroine!!! She is present to witness him taking women home, making out with them, flirting, etc. WHY THE HELL WOULD SHE EVER WANT TO BE WITH THIS MAN? WHAT MAKES HER DO A SUDDEN 180??

Once they start dating, the hero tells the heroine a lovely story about how his parents met and fell in love practically at first sight and have been together ever since. And yet... the heroine obv didn't qualify for the same treatment. She only rejected him after seeing him with OW.

The hero cooks for the heroine and she says its "the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me"... YUCK. How much lower can her standards get??? Pathetic!

Then, the big blow up fight at the end is when the hero discovers that the heroine was married before and didn't tell him. They had been together for ONE MONTH and she was afraid to tell him about her past. Because it made her look pathetic tbh, and I understood her worries. However, the hero flips out on her and breaks up with her. She tries to explain her side, but he doesn't really care, and pushes her away repeatedly. For the next MONTH the heroine tries to contact him but he is unresponsive. He finally realizes he overreacted but instead of reaching out to her, he just continues to ignore her ...??? He says he's too scared that she will reject him. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡.

When he finally goes to her, he doesn't say anything worthwhile. He just asks her if she ever loved him. OFC she's pathetic and says "NO, I STILL LOVE YOU" and that's that. No grovel, no romantic gestures, nothing. She takes him back like the sad sack that she is.

Seriously though, fuck this book and the horse it rode in on.

There were things that I liked in the second book of this series, but there were a lot more that I did not!!

Layla and Miller’s journey was not that enjoyable for me.

Layla’s grandmother might have made me laugh but her behaviour was too far fetched, reaching the limits of stupidity and disgrace.
Layla had a secret which was revealed towards the end of the story. Up to that point there was no hint or indication of its existence. It seemed as though the writer wanted to create a little drama and out of nowhere she came up with it.
Also, their behaviour was kind of childish, too much sex scenes and orgasms became indifferent and I lost interest.

I personally did not enjoy this at all, but it wasn't so much a quality issue as it was a storyline that was a bit rough for me. While I liked the first book in the series, this one had a few elements that completely took me out of the story. It was like every time I started to get into it, something else would happen. From OW drama to an exceedingly cocky hero to a VERY strange (and VERY problematic) scene involving the heroine's grandmother (we'll definitely talk more about that in a minute), there were just things that kept me from staying connected. It's still a light, steamy read at the heart of it and does advance the series, but this one really wasn't for me.

The story follows Miller, a professional hockey star known to be a player on and off the ice. He's had his eye on Layla for four years now, but she's never taken his advances seriously. It could be that he seems to be with a different woman every time he sees her, or it could be his overly confident nature, but there's always been something that holds her back. That is, until the night she bids on him at a charity auction. Now that Layla has put a date between them on the table, there's no stopping Miller from taking his shot.

I do want to acknowledge that the author is a skilled writer and there was a lot that DID work for me. I liked that Miller has to chase his girl a bit, and I liked that Layla didn't put up with his antics. It's a bit of a slow burn that turns seriously steamy in the back half, and the overall feel is light and playful. But Miller's personality just wasn't for me. If he really wanted Layla to take him seriously, he shouldn't have flirted with woman after woman in front of her. Some of that drama left a sour taste in my mouth, and then the grandma stuff happened. No one would be okay with a grandfather making exceedingly aggressive (and unwanted) sexual advances towards the heroine, so I really don't understand why it would be considered "funny" for a grandma to assault the hero (ex: straddling his lap, heavy kissing, nudity, and more). The heroine literally rolls her eyes when she finds out. There was really no coming back for me after that, and I had a lot of trouble remaining emotionally invested in the story afterwards. There's a lot of good stuff going on in this book, but it's all overshadowed by the problems. I'm sure many will enjoy this one but I can't say that it was a winner for me. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sports romance.

Layla is an indipendent woman with a great career: her sport talk show on the radio is well known.
She doesn't trust easily so she is okay with one- night stand relationships.
But there's something in Miller Adams that had always get to her. She refuse to cave in 'cause Miller is everything she hate: a cocky womanizer.
When a charity event give her the chance t really spend time with him, she gonna find out he is nothing she thought he was.
Miller had fun in his rookie years but he is ready to get his dream girl: Layla Peterson.
But it's not gonna be so easy .....

I loved reading this book because, as any other books from Natasha Madison, it gave me all the feels:
- it made me laugh at the beginning ( especially with Grandma Nancy and her shameless flirting 🤣🤣 );
- it made me swoon in the middle with Miller sweetness and the way they act around each other;
- it shattered my heart with an unexpected event and left me crying like a baby girl;
- and in the end it made me sob a little more with the most romantic moment ever 😍😍

Natasha Madison is definitely a one-click author for me

Miller was so funny in the last book that I knew his story would be humorous, but I cannot tell you how many times I laughed out loud during this book. I will also say it did make me cry a little at one point so I felt that it was a well rounded book.

I didn’t realize going into this book that he had been after Layla for 4 years to go out with him. In the last book you know he flirts with her and asks her out several times but I didn’t understand that it had been going on so long.

These two are hilarious & so is Layla’s grandmother. Holy cow I thought I was going to pull something laughing so hard about grandma’s date!

Both characters are good but Layla was especially great with her sassy, sarcastic and independent personality. She had a soft side but she wasn’t a pushover and she made Miller work for her affections.

Best one of the series! At least I found there relationship to be the best! I have read a couple out of order, and I really liked these two!

I found her grandmothers behavior over the top, and not believable!
I also felt like the conflict came out of nowhere.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I could not wait to get my hands on this little gem. I looked forward to Layla and Miller’s story ever since I met them in Only One Kiss.

Four years, that’s how long Miller has been trying to get Layla to give him a chance, but she shot down every attempt he made. Her reasons ranged from not liking him to thinking he was self-absorbed and arrogant. Then the unthinkable happened while in inebriated, she made a bid twenty-five thousand dollars for a date with him at a charity auction. On realizing the following day what she did, she tried many creative ways to get out of the deal, but Miller was not about to let his chance of proving to her he would be worth it to go up in smoke.

I had a great time with the second book in Only One series. The books in the series are self-contained, however, the main characters from each installment appear in the all the books. Layla made Miller jump through several hoops prior to giving a chance. She would learn her pre-conceived notions were way ‘off mark. The more time she spent with him she saw a side to him she never would have known if she hadn’t given him a chance.

I loved Miller, romantic, caring and thoughtful. Although clueless when it came to dealing with fans of the female persuasion, he eventually learned what was acceptable and what was not for a famous person in a relationship. The fact he attempted to effect changes made him a hero in my eyes.

It took me sometime to warm up to Layla and just as I started liking her, I discovered she had a secret, one which almost destroyed what she had begun building with Miller. I couldn’t believe it after all she had put him through. Is not like it was something bad and even if it was, she should have been honest from the moment she recognised that their relationship had become serious. She redeemed herself, but the events showed the importance of honesty in relationships.

The story had several laugh out loud moments. My favourite scene involved Miller’s interaction with Layla’s grandmother. I almost fell from my chair the way I laughed so hard. Poor Miller, probably scarred for life, I know I would be if I found myself in such a situation.

The author treated her readers to two epilogues. Both were outstanding, but the second one left me salivating for the next book in the series. Now, that one, I can’t wait to see how it will play out.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Once again Madison created a story which featured relatable characters and one which held my attention from start to finish. If you enjoy romance, which features hot athletes, then Only One Chance would be a great addition to your library.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Only One Series. Miller is such an amazing hero and what made this book so good for me! He's cocky, but shows that there's so much more to him than a player on and outside the ice. The way he's been dedicated for years to get Layla's attention was truly charming. He's sweet and so thoughtful in his courtship of her that he had me enamored.

I felt that Layla was a little cold at times toward Miller, without any reason. The way she gradually fell under his irresistible charm was beautiful though. She's a strong heroine that isn't afraid to speak her mind, but she's also vulnerable to her feelings and has trust issues.

The supporting characters occupy an important place in the story and made it so hilarious at times. Only One Chance wasn't as good as Only One Kiss in my opinion, but certainly had me entertained. I'm more than intrigued about Manning's story now!

Only One Chance was such a good read with a beautiful group of characters that you can know better in the other books of the series.

Miller is a hockey player who likes flirting. Layla is a sports radio host. They've known each other for years and even if he has been trying hard to go out on a date with her she has always declined his invitation until now. During a charity party, where there were quite a lot of champagne consumption, Layla bid the higher sum of money to win a date with Miller. After a moment of shock she finally accepts to go out with him and she finds out that Miller is not only the biggest flirt in the men history but he has also a romantic side. Will Miller conquer her heart? Will Layla overcome her fears and completely trust Miller?

Natasha Madison wrote an entertaining story, the slow burn and the witty bantering only emphasize the chemistry and the attraction between the main characters.

I highly recommend to one click this book.

I have had such a really long week and all I have wanted to do was curl up in bed and read. Instead I have had to read a chapter here and there. As such I found it hard to connect with the story. Which sux because I am a huge fan of Natasha Madison. And I adored Only One Kiss so I was really looking forward to this one.

Miller took me a little off guard. I expected him to go all out trying to win Layla and I guess in his own way he did. He just didn't realise that he was approaching it all wrong. But once he realised the error of his ways, he worked so hard to set things straight.

Layla was really relatable and I loved that she was so comfortable being herself. She stood up for what she deserved and when she wasn't getting it she didn't react with unnecessary drama. And her grandmother was absolutely priceless.

Overall, the story was good, and I enjoyed it when I could manage to read it long enough to get caught up in it. I am so desperate to get my hands-on Manning's book next.

Natasha Madison is back with the second standalone in the Only One series and y'all, what an epic journey. I freaking loved the first, heck really anything Natasha writes but this was one was a bit.. different but in sooooo many good ways.

Only One Chance was everything that I needed it to be in all the ways, even those not so fun times (that ending made up for it and left me needing SO MUCH MORE!!). I adored this book, these characters, and this story. This was a romance with one strong heroine and one swoony hero and one love story that will take you through the paces but I promise it is worth all the moments.

Miller has never had a problem getting the girl he wants, well that is until her. And years later when he gets one chance with her, he knows he's got to go all in. An unexpected, slow burn, angsty, steamy, unforgettable romance that'll heat you up and leave you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.

A stunning, new romance from Natasha Madison that'll give you all of the feels and take you on an unforgettable journey of ups, downs, and everything else in between y'all. This is an absolute must read and I'm looking forward to the next.

I highly recommend this book.

First impression.

Not keen so far.
Not sure if Hero is as big a man-whore as he thought to be.
.“At every single party we’ve both attended, you’ve left with a different girl each time.” She laughs now. “Once, you left with one girl, then came back two hours later, and left with another one.'
He wonders why she doesn't want to date him.
Not sure I will carry on with this.

“But since you want to talk, we were discussing all the women you have sex with in the different cities.”
I laugh. “That is not how I worded it at all.”
“It is pretty much exactly what it is.” She laughs. “You can sugarcoat it all you want. They are called puck bunnies, and they are everywhere.”
“I know what they are called. I was telling you that I don’t do that anymore.”

The whole book they are laughing all the time, I just felt it was a bit childish.
The grandma bit really wasn't funny or appropriate, just ew.

Then the heroine, it turns out is divorced, at around 75% and the Hero totally over reacts. After she poursnher heart out to him this happens...
'“Why do you even care now?” “It’s been a month now. You blocked me.”

No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but heroine has seen him date other girls, social media posts and flirting.

HEA.

A Laugh-out-loud Hilarious Sexy & Emotional Story with Getting Chances, Not Fucking up, Past at Door, Truths & love at line, Getting Courage & HEA.
I loved Miller & Layla! Maybe him more than her😏. From the moment I completed Only one kiss, I've been excited for their story & with the release of Only one Touch, I finally got the time to read this! The friendships are Gorgeous❤. DEVOURED this in 5hrs.

The Conversations in this book felt a little...Off for me, I'm not even sure if it was me or the book or what's the reason, it didn't happen in other books though. But other than that, this was amazing!

Miller; Charming, Fun, Lovable; is the Most Valuable Player of the Dallas NHL team WHILE Layla; Cunning, Fierce, Sweet; Talks Sports on radio on her Famous show. She's also Candace's friend. Miller's been Trying to Win Layla over for 4 yrs & he's still determined. But after their Great 1st meet turned to worse, she ignores his advances.

But Miller gets His chance with her when With Liquid courage, she Wins a date with him (For charity ;-). Of course, when she gets sober, she does everything to Ebb his Enthusiasm, In comes Her grandma. Gotta say, Poor Miller was Scarred (Me too) For life With what happened next. I was laughing hard & horrified for Miller!

She only wants one-night-Stands, he wants forever. What happens when they fall for eachother?
After what happens with Granny, Layla agrees to go out with him. As they spend time together, he shows her his Caring & Adorable side which wins her (& me) over! But the guy is cutely oblivious about Talking to Female Fans. He seems to be flirting, which hurts Layla. Mil's confused & Hurt too Until Manning & Ralph show him his Wrong ways. Miller learns Quickly *yay!*. With An emotional talk, Layla & Miller are Strong again. Cue Happy times! I loved it❤ & their Family.

Then Layla Fucks up..Yup, it wasn't Miller, Until he stretched their Miserable time away too long...
Miller values Honesty in a relationship a lot. But his surprise to her Gives HIM A SURPRISE when Her "Husband" opens the door *Oh Shit!!*.
He's Rightfully Angry & Hurt, She later does go to him to explain that that guy is her Ex-husband and the circumstances behind it. I sympathize with her too...But Yup, Mil's Hurt. Badly. But so is she. Cue Miserable Days! Miller does know that he Overreacted a little but he needs time to digest everything.
But then Weeks pass, He takes too Much time..

When Layla started talking about Moving somewhere else, I freaked out. I'm glad that Miller Got his head outta his ass then. This time away was enough to Show that They're deep in eachother's heart. Cue a Deep talk, Few tears, Love Confessions & HEA! The later scenes were Gorgeous & Fun❤.

The Epilogues made me happy & Last few scenes Gave one hell of a tease for Manning's story!
**At the time of writing this Review, I've already read 'Only one Night' & 'Only one Touch'. Totally Recommend this series!**

The last thing Layla wants to do is talk to Miller because the last time she saw him, he had his face all over a bimbo! If it was up to her she would not be the one interviewing him because she knows the kind of man Miller is- an overrated playboy! Even though Layla has made mistake in her life she knows what men like Miller really until he surprises her.

The chemistry is undeniable but is Miller worth her heart? Will he judge her once he knows her past? Can Miller be happy with one woman? So many questions and boy was it a dozy. Kara~ 4.5 Stars

Only One Chance is a fun and sweet enemies to lovers story. Layla is the host of a popular sports radio talk show. Miller is a hockey player with the Dallas Oilers. He is a ladies man and quite a bit of a flirt.

They both admit there is attraction and chemistry between them, but Layla is not at all interested in a guy who can’t seem to get enough of all the women fawning all offer him.

“Miller grabs his helmet. “So what do you say? You wanna come ride the pony?” He smirks at me. Always fucking smirking.
“I don’t ride motorcycles,” I say, ignoring his look. “I don’t trust you not to be reckless with my body.”
“I can promise you I wasn’t talking about the bike.”

The story has plenty of sweet, heat, heart and humor. Some of the humor was a little over the top for me, for example Grandma Nancy ;) But I loved the story and the message.

“... you have one life to live. Don’t you want to live it with a love that’s so big it fills your soul?”

This is by far the best one and although it's book 2... I have read them out of order and still missing a few, this was by far the best. Grandma Nancy was the best... I don't care if it's not believable... I did the job and had me cackling at work! Miller has been chasing Layla for 4 years and he finally gets that first date after Layla accidentally pays $25K for a date with him. He is out to prove he's not the same guy he was as a rookie. It's a fun read and grandma is the best

I’m really not sure where to start and if my words can do this amazing story justice ....
I’m in love with Miller and I’m claiming him !!!!!
If you love sports romances you will want to read Only One Chance, in fact I’m going to say if you love romance this should be a must read.
Miller has been trying to get Layla on a date for what seems like forever, she is best friends with his teammates girlfriend so they mix in the same circles but Layla is determined to keep turning him down because she believes she has no interest in the man who seems to have a revolving door when it comes to women...
When Layla wins a date with him at a charity auction the fun and games begin, why did she open her mouth and shout out a bid no one was going to beat, guess it was the champagne.......
What follows is Miller trying to prove he is romantic and wants a relationship and a Layla doing her utmost to avoid a date, she even sends her Grandma in her place on the first date....
This book ticked all my boxes, I laughed or should I say snorted out loud, I giggled, I swooned at Miller and his goggle references and I adored Layla, oh and what about the hilarious Grandma....
I was hooked from the first page and I fell hard and fast for Miller and this story kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the night because their was no putting down so be warned make sure you have time to finish what you start. A very special read that will stay with you long after the final words have been read. Another amazing book from the very talented Ms Madison.

I did not finish this book after reading a really troubling few scenes involving the hero and the heroine's grandmother. It was supposed to be funny? I think? But it was just awful. The grandmother "Grandma Nancy" basically sexually assaults Miller repeatedly after Layla forces him to take her grandmother on a date. Then she appears naked in front of him with another man demanding a threesome at which point Miller escapes and hides. Layla's reaction to all of this is to LAUGH at him.

If the roles were reversed and it was a grandfather doing this to a woman - this would never have made the page. I just don't see the humour in this whatsoever. I'm pretty shocked actually that this withstood editing.

I suggest giving this book a hard pass. Perhaps the others in the series are better.

DNF at 22% when an older woman repeatedly grabbed a man's crotch, straddled him, and made a lot of sexually suggestive remarks (all against his will and while he repeatedly told her NO).

This scene is pervasive in pop culture and is really offensive. No means no, regardless of gender. Men being sexually assaulted is not funny.

If the genders being reversed would make the scene a highly triggering sexual assault, then it is a scene with a highly triggering sexual assault.

ONE MORE TIME FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK:
Men being sexually assaulted IS. NOT. FUNNY.

𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: DNF
𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦: older woman sexually assaulting a man (intended to be comedic)

"Exceedingly good."

Natasha Madison has done it again!!! If I had to sum up my reading experience in 3 words, I would say;
HOOKED, ENGROSSED, ADORED!!

Only One Chance is much more than a sport romance!

Layla and Miller’s story was emotional and utterly absorbing. Miller embodies everything that Layla despises in a man- he’s cocky and a womaniser.
However, after winning the auction, she has to spend time with him and realised that there’s more to the guy than the Hockey player.
The chemistry between them is off the chart!
The angst ... the angst... NM killed me with the angst!!
She wrote beautifully and masterfully a heartbreakingly beautiful, butterfly-inducing and laugh out loud funny story!!
Special mention to Grandma Nancy, she rocks!!!!

This turned out an uneven story at best. Sorry, not a fan.

Miller was a pro hockey star & Layla had her own radio
sports show. He'd been flirting with her for 4 years and
got nowhere. She thought him a player.

Layla 'won' Miller at a charity auction. The heroine's Grand-
ma went on the date with the H in place of the h. G'ma came
across as silly rather than funny. The h revealed her secret
3/4 th in. The H had a OTT response. IMO, the H + h did not
fit together, except in a sexual context. I felt the frequent
sex distorted the true nature of their empty relationship.
