An immortal love. A terrible curse. And the fleeting hope that this time might be different.

I saved her life once, but in return, no matter how many times she is reborn, she never remembers our love. I keep hoping that this time will be different, only to have my hopes dashed against the very rocks my siren sings on. Until now.

I return to my love to find something is different—that she is different. As memories of our life together force their way into her mind, this time she doesn’t turn away. She believes herself insane, but slowly her heart is opening.

Could this be my chance? Can the spell be broken at last?

January 2024 update: Melody is no longer publishing. Thank you for all of the support over the years.

Melody Calder is a multi-trope romance author with an addiction to chocolate, dill pickles, books, and swearing; not necessarily in that order. Her mind is always full of interesting characters and plot twists. She not so secretly loves cliffhangers and endings that are not the norm.

She hopes to survive the teenage years of her twins, which is worse than the terrible twos, and her puppy who lives up to his name - Dragon. Her hobbies include collecting elephant figurines, painting, and annoying her husband by forgetting to switch the laundry. Her family and friends will tell you that she needs reminders for everything, but they love her anyway.

What an incredibly beautiful story, I fell in love with this story and the characters right from the start. This must be one of the most romantic stories ever written. Inspired by the legend of Lorelei, the Siren of the Rhine and the rock that carries the name, this story explores the eternal love between two people who are cursed to never experience a full life together.
The immortal Klaus forever cursed to yearn for his Lorelei, and Lorelei forever cursed to die and forget Klaus, the love of her life. Need I say how much this story made me cry? Totally worth it. I have no words to describe how beautiful this story is and how beautifully the author developed it in her own way.
The concept, the characters, their emotions, the story, it is all so beautiful, so gripping, so vivid. Not only that I felt like I was there most of the time. The story made me feel like I have to visit the place where they met and every single place that was significant for them. I can imagine it being the most romantic trip in history of romance. That’s how this story feels.
The best part is that the author included the poem Lorelei by Heinrich Heine from 1824 into the story, in such a beautiful way, it just fits and I found myself re-reading it over and over again. In general, it is so obvious that the author has given consideration to so many details and researched the legend and the places thoroughly.
I know I mentioned this already, but not only that I fell in love with the places, I fell in love with this modern day fairytale and most of all I fell in love with the characters and their centuries long love story. It is so incredibly beautiful and emotional and well done in every possible way, I wanted to get lost in it. I felt all the emotions, I saw all the details so beautifully and vividly described and I felt the passion screaming from the pages. Oh so much passion.
This author does not seize to amaze me with her talent, skill and beautiful ideas. She writes some of the most beautiful and most touching love stories out there, and I hope this one is just one of many to come. I’ve loved this author from the first of her books I’ve read and I I’m loving her more with each book. I can’t wait for whatever she writes next.

Wow, this book was written so hauntiingly amazing. So we have a story for the ages and the sadness was portrayed so on point it was heartbreaking. I cried and was left speechless so many times. How can someone live so long and have their dreams taken away. Having to live so many lifetimes with and without your soul mate and to have everything ripped out of your grasp. What is the story with about the siren? Ohh I got goosebumbs just thinking about this book. Klaus and Lorelie have loved each other when they first laid their eyes on each other. So as you read this book, you will find out that they have been cursed? Why? You need to read to find that out but it was all for a good reason. However, was it worth it all the pain and heartache. WIll they ever get a happily ever after? If you are looking for a book that is heart warming, heart breaking and steamy then you need to read this book. YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!!

A bittersweet love story it made my heart hurt so much. Two characters so desperately in love but fated to relive their love throughout the years but to never have a happy ever after. Human Klaus makes a bargain to save his true love Lorelei the Siren (FMC) is gravely injured but that puts them both in a cycle of death & rebirth with no conclusion. Until this life changes things for both of them. Oh god did i laugh & cry in equal measure reading this book. Lorelei & Klaus had me routing for them to find a way to get their happy ending all the way through this book. I cant tell you how much i totally loved this book and the two main characters too. Such a beautiful story from beginning to end

Siren of the Rhine

From the moment I saw this book appear, I knew I wanted to read it. I grew up with stories of 'the Lorelei' and I just loved making up her own stories in my head when I was little.

This book was such a great read overall. Klaus and Lorelei 's love touched me in so many ways. Klaus was perfect and I felt so bad for him being separated from his soulmate. The ending was amazing and the absolute sweetest ending of them all.

This is a beautiful Love story of a Siren and Human. Lorelei is a siren who falls in love with Klaus. Klaus has to make a decision to help save her life from witches using dark magic only to pay a price that even he had no idea what would happen. He needs to break the curse, this is a fantastic read and easy. It has all the feels you could want from a romance absolutely stunning story based on a old German myth.

Such a beautiful read -

Lorelei: Siren of the Rhine is just fabulous. Melody Calder really delivers in this romantic story that spans life times. Her characters are honest, and in places raw, the story is well considered and flows so well. Lorelei and Klauses love is so very sweet and you really get caught up, swept away in their emotion. Melody Calder continues to grow as a very versatile and talented author. Loved it!

Right away she begins to weave this story that fully immerses you. Klaus is a man cursed to never die while he watches his fated love, Lorelei, continue to do so. Fate brings them together again over a piece of art Klaus himself painted of the original Lorelei.

Melody has a unique way of building this story. Instead of focusing heavily on the characters themselves, meaning you know the basics of both MCs, she focuses on the actual plot and storyline. This pushed me to keep reading and discover more about the characters themselves.

This is a heartwrenching story of love and fate that will leave you with all the feelings.

I found this book to be a very sedate read quite full of intimate scenes. Due to a curse from their original lives, an immortal man Klaus had been living and waiting for over 300 years for his siren-mermaid love Lorelei to be repeatedly reincarnated, meet him and regain her old memories, and then finally die an early death shortly thereafter.

The book began with Klaus working as a curator of the Louvre and travelling to a museum in Germany to accompany a painting of Nixie to its final home. He quickly found out that his long-lost love Lorelei has also been working and made plans to stay in there to start a relationship with Lorelei, wait for her memories to be restored when she fell in love with him again, and then finally figure out how to break the curse so she didn't die an early death anymore.

There were lots of steamy intimate scenes while they re-developed a relationship together as it seemed to be the way they validated their feelings for each other, but otherwise, there wasn't much action or conflict at all. There was a short scene about 65% into the novel when they finally confronted the true villain, . Other than that, it was mostly relationship drama about trust between the two of them while Lorelei tried to regain her past memories.

The ending with the curse was tied up neatly and wasn't very satisfying IMO. The evil were never truly defeated, . It was also never explained exactly what they wanted Lorelei back for.. didn't she have other to do whatever job was expected from ? And you'd think that would have had over the past 300 years and moved on from her by now.

We got chapters in both their POVs throughout the novel. Following Klaus mostly showed him secretly plotting a new future life with Lorelei while waiting for her to confide in him to fulfill the original steps of the curse. When we followed Lorelei, it was about her feelings of Klaus and reliving her past memories in her dreams. It felt like at about 72% through the novel, the author just went okay, the memory regaining took long enough naturally, let's just dump the rest of the memories back to Lorelei and get on with the curse solving and happy ending and kids.

It was a fluffy and beautifully-written light read, but I didn't find the plot and pacing super compelling. I'd recommend the book to people who like reading about reincarnation, insta-love, lots of sex, and HEA plots without much good vs evil action and conflict or a satisfying victory.
