The FAIRY TAIL guild are on vacation on True Island, where all the secrets of the world are said to reside, when Natsu gets drawn into the jungle by the scent of a delicious fruit. There, he encounters Shiki, who's after the same sweet smell! Will they become friends, or rivals? How many other familiar characters will join the party? Three Hiro Mashima classics come together for the first time!
Hiro Mashima (Jap: 真島ヒロ) is a Japanese manga artist.
He gained success with his first serial Rave, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1999 to 2005. His best-selling work, Fairy Tail, published in the same magazine from 2006 to 2017, became one of the best-selling manga series with over 72 million copies in print. Mashima began the currently ongoing Edens Zero in 2018.
Fairy Tail won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga in 2009, and Mashima was given the Harvey Awards International Spotlight award in 2017 and the Fauve Special Award at the 2018 Angoulême International Comics Festival.
A fun, pretty meta crossover between Rave Master, Fairy Tail and Edens Zero. Whilst it's a good time, especially for those familiar with at least two of these properties, it never attempts to dip its toes into any kind of complexity. It's definitely dependent on the colourful cast of characters, and they don't disappoint, playing off each other really well thanks to the similarities they share. Worth a read for fans, not something you should pick up as an introduction to any of these series.
A fantastic crossover of three great series, all the series and characters are served equally by their original author within one being the stand out. Great for fans of even just one of Mashima's series!
(Sorry, Plue, but not tagging you as a "dog" since you physically look more like a snowman... this goes for the "dragon" people, too)
The entire plot of this story is "Mashima wanted to make fun of the fact that the main characters of his stories look and act alike." I mean, Sieghart/Siegrain/Mystogan/Jellal/Justice/Genesis had transparently the EXACT SAME DESIGN, down to the facial mark! Laziness!!
I initially read this when I was more familiar with Fairy Tail and had only barely started on EDENS ZERO, but now that I've seen most of the anime, I'm more familiar with EDENS ZERO, while I'm starting to forget all the details of Fairy Tail. (I also like to joke to the people saying that EDENS ZERO is Fairy Tail in space that Fairy Tail is Rave Master with a magic guild, but if I'm being honest, I haven't been able to find much of Rave Master at this late stage...) So it's interesting to understand the jokes more thoroughly in a second go through.
I still bristle at the apostrophe in the title (it more correctly should read "H.E.R.O.S."), but... I totally get being infatuated with a different language that one doesn't completely understand. Also, I'd rather be a Grammar Homie anyway and admit that HERO'S is more eye-catching in this age of acronym overload.
I also love the scene where Haru (spring), Natsu (summer), and Shiki (four seasons) compare names and realise that Aki (fall) and Fuyu (winter) are missing. I guess Mashima has some secrets in mind! (like... Mashymre)
Absolutely recommended for fans of Mashima's work! Not recommended if you don't go for "fan service"—hey, it IS Mashima—though there are a few odd bits of "something for the ladies" also (mostly Gray). I mostly give four stars only because it's an indulgent side story, rather than a serious piece. I still enjoy it anyway, because if Mashima is one thing, it's consistent.
Hiro Mashima brings three of his best known series together in a land where the imagination is the limit.
For those that have not read or watched the anime of Rave Master, Fairy Tail, or Eden Zero then this little one shot will probably not be of a lot of interest being a collection of various characters from these three series (and how amusing characters from these series look a lot alike.) That said you can enjoy the story without prior knowledge of the characters or how they differ but most inside jokes might be a little hazy to you without doing a little research now and there. I should also point out he who has blatantly added himself to the manga as well is kind of a pervert with his series so don't be surprised by certain angles, tight clothes, and monsters that belong in a hentai story instead (though there is no actual hentai in the book) so be aware if you are against fanservice.
As for me I have read Fairy Tail and Eden Zero but still have yet to catch any of the Rave Master titles but had no problem following the plot of this book even though it is basically dependent on a concept from that series. In my opinion if you enjoy Hiro Mashima art and humor then you should give this book a try if for no other reason then to see how the various characters from each series reacts to similar looking (and occasionally acting) characters from worlds different than their own. :)
I love how the author inserted himself into the story, it was so wacky and well done. The rest of it would be as you imagine for a group of protagonists coming together, none of them get to outshine the other.
You have a bit of fan service here and there, you have guys in leather with huge asses that are supposed to be funny? I'm not sure about that bit, It was very nice to look out throughout though.
The story felt a lot more like Fairy Tail, Vol. 01 as opposed to EDENS ZERO 1, Rave Master Vol. 1 didn't get introduced until halfway though. I did quite like how each group picked out similarities between each other and having the main guys be described as spike hair and insert colour. If you like any of the other series and want to know what it be like for them to interact, pick this up otherwise you won't be missing much.
I got into manga as a kid through Mashima's first major series Rave Master, so seeing these characters Ive cherished come back for a fun tribute was really special. I never got the chance to read Fairytail, but I have been reading Edens Zero and seeing them interacting with all the others was fun. Honestly, the plot is nothing special, you'll get the most out of this short story if you just enjoy the interactions and shenanigans the heroes get wrapped up in. I do think it would have been even better if it had more chapters or possibly a second volume, felt at times the pages were too busy and you could just sense they were trying to cram as many different interactions as they could in a single page.
It was such a fun nostalgia trip reading this! The interactions between characters was truly the best part, it was so chaotic and hilarious; this will certainly become one of my comfort reads. This is one of those stories that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling after you’re done reading it.
I was familiar with two of the three series in this crossover one-shot, and I still found it very enjoyable. The story itself isn’t that important, for me it was all about returning to characters who I discovered years ago and ultimately introduced me to the world of anime and manga.
Hero’s is a cozy read, perfect for long car rides, rainy days and anytime you want to revisit familiar stories.
I may not be familiar with Mashimia’s Eden Zero or Rave Master but it did not interfere with my enjoyment of this book. Many scenes had me giggling so hard.
I may have to look into those other manga.
This book made me want to check out Eden Zero when the anime comes out
No comment. Le temps d'un OS j'ai apprécié mom moment de lecture et ce fut suffisant.
I really like how Mashima does a great job making fun of his tropes. And he even makes fun of the scholar guy or monk something who made this island. He is essentially the symbol for the author. So I really appreciate the humbleness of Mashima. He does a good job for it essentially being fan service.
C'était vraiment cool de retrouver les héros des différentes séries de Hiro Mashima ! Même si cela fait beaucoup de personnages, l'histoire est pas mal (il fallait tout faire tenir en 10 chapitres). J'ai bien aimé !
it was nice but i have nothing to say more?? i guess it lowkey feel nice to see some of the characters interact but it didn’t have that much of a good fight or greatest plot. just kinda sweet and nice to read.
A must read for fans of Rave Master, Fairy Tail and/or Eden Zero!
I absolutely love this cross over of Mashima Hiro's works. They characters all go surprisingly well together dispite their diffrent personalities and experiences.
I loved the inclusion of all of Hiro's most iconic characters but I felt this had a lot of potential and areas that could be discovered and explored but I doubt that will be happening anytime soon. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Fairy Tail or Eden's Zero (Hiro's more popular manga books) as it still includes your favourite main characters in a hilarious way.
I absolutely loved this manga. I love Fairy Tail and even though I haven’t read or watched Rave Master or Edens Zero yet, I am definitely planning to now.
