She's falling apart. He'll do anything to put her together again.
After a brutal shifter attack, Nathra City's Fae are driven underground, forced to become fugitives. To save them, Reagan, Tarik, and their rebellion friends embark on a mission to the Fae realm. But finding allies might be harder than they thought.
While Reagan continues to struggle with guilt and nightmares from the attack, Tarik must set aside vengeance to keep everyone alive.
None of them are equipped to face the unknown challenges on this perilous journey. And the more they fight to stay together, the more fate seems determined to tear them apart.

The second book in the Genesis Crystal Saga picks up almost immediately from where the first book left off, so if you can read these beauties back to back, do it! But, given where the first book, while full of pain in that physical sort of way (emotionally too but…)—this book, while not light on action in any way, really delves deep into the long lasting effects of the traumas that the characters survive in Dawn till Dusk. Specifically Reagan. Tarik, Reagan, and team may be traversing the mysterious Fae realm looking for help to bring back home with them so they can confront Mordecai and free the Fae, but this is primarily a story about enduring survivor’s guilt and healing from trauma. Secondly, it’s about that sweet, sexy romance between Tarik and Reagan building and building… it’s really tender, and very steamy at times! THEN it’s about finding help to stop the evil dragon shifter of Nathra City.
I really did enjoy how the authors don’t shy away from the tough topics when it comes to Tarik and Reagan’s emotional pain. Both characters struggle to come to terms with what happened, though Tarik seems to have an easier go of it then Reagan does, who feels so intensely and so deeply that her perceived failures from where the previous book left off, her nightmares and inability to sleep and help protect her travel companions, just compounds her feelings of inadequacy and blame. It was tough to read at times with how much Reagan constantly hurts throughout this book. They are important topics for sure, but just a little forewarning because it gets heavy at times. Tarik’s guilt comes more in the form of obsessing over Reagan, like really obsessing over her… Thank goodness for the comic relief that are the Fae twins and Caspar! Who I love. And Nevah. I wish we had seen more of my favorite purple haired rat shifter, but with the introduction to new characters it’s understandable that, while the side characters do grow, you don’t see as much of them as you (re: me) would want. But, along with the introduction of new characters, there are a lot of BIG reveals in this book, and some questions answered, so overall, this second book absolutely does move our characters closer to a conflict and resolution that is going to be spectacular. And painful, that’s for sure!
This is an elaborate world of shifters and Fae, and the contrast between the shifter realm and the Fae’s is massive. It was so interesting to see the different biomes that make up the Fae realm with their various mythical monsters that I just wanted more. And perhaps that’s my only true complaint, the focus on Reagan and her emotional struggles and growth, as well as Tarik’s growing protectiveness of Reagan and wrestling his anger, meant that this new realm felt like more of a plot device at times then a real, thriving place. Part of that may just be that this is the second book in a series that may be longer than just three books, so we will revisit this land, and this book was just to build the groundwork? Maybe? It’s a theory anyway! But it’s also why I’m giving this 4 stars. I loved the twists this story took, loved the action and the new villain, and I’m so interested to see where Tarik and Reagan’s relationship goes from here! These authors really shine with their rich and complex characters, so I can’t wait to see what book 3 has in store for us!
A good story in a fun world with interesting characters. I also really appreciate the content disclosure in the beginning of the book.
Amazing Elements: The characters are enjoyable and well-rounded, as well as flawed and easy to empathize with. Hackett and Moynihan shine in this area of their writing and it shows in every chapter. Something that drew me into this series is the element of the genesis crystals, which is unique and makes things interesting. I usually don't enjoy urban fantasy this much, but I thoroughly enjoy this series.
There is a good balance of magic, action, character development, and the relationships. Unlike many fantasy-romance stories, this series does not push the fantasy aside! That's one reason I like it.
Tarik and Reagan have a believable relationship. They are both flawed and strong in different ways and balance each other out nicely.
The secondary characters get the appropriate amount of attention, and even though this book has a mid to large sized cast of them, I didn't get confused between them all.
Less-Than-Ideal Elements: The first chapter made me uncomfortable, but that was the idea, obviously, so it did what was intended! This book uses a trope I don't personally care for. Reagan realizes she must do something, but decides not to tell anyone until the last minute, thus creating many chapters of her in inner turmoil about how guilty she feels lying to the others, sadness about The Thing, etc. This trope is just a pet peeve of mine, though, and I know it's commonly used in this genera.
There were places where I wished the magic of the realm was more developed, too. The were over really quickly and I found myself wanting more from those areas of the story.
End Thoughts: Overall a really fun story with a good sense of humor, nice balance of tone, and great characters. Because of its tone, characters, and world, it reminds me of the first book in Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" series.
Fall of Night picks up not too far from where we’d left off in Dawn Till Dusk. Tarik and Reagan are preparing to set off with the gang to look for allies outside of Nathra City. Sounds easy? Well, it’s not. Danger lurks around every corner from page one, when they still haven’t left the city. These characters barely have a moment to breathe, there’s so much tension, so many twists. I feared for their life almost all the time. My poor heart!
What I loved most about this book was the characters. We got to see more of the Fae rebels and I fell in love with them all, especially those pesky twins and Caspar. Nevaeh, Reagan’s friend, was more of a confirmation. A glowing confirmation. I loved her in the first book, but somehow loved her even more in this one. What is this sorcery? The authors did an amazing job at developing the group. Then, of course, there are Tarik and Reagan. They deserve their own paragraph.
Tarik and Reagan. Oh. My. GOD! Despite the fact they’ve moved on from the enemies phase and settled into the lovers one, the tension between them is real. They’ve both gone through so much, but while Tarik was the one suffering the most in the first book, now it’s Reagan. She’s struggling mentally and physically, and things only get really bad before they start getting a little better. Tarik, who is still the hot-headed punch-first-ask-questions-later guy we know and love, learns to set aside his temper and dives into his tender side, giving her space and time or just being there and being amazing depending on what Reagan wants and needs. In the midst of all these precious moments, and all the twists and turns this book throws our way, Tarik and Reagan have several very intense scenes that had me begging for more. So much desire. So much angst! *cries*
I’m desperately waiting for book three because I need to devour it and hopefully have things go my way, which they probably won’t. Oh, the suffering!
The headline for book 2 in Genesis Crystal Saga is FEELS, FEELS FEELS....
We start off right where we have left in the first book. And I can for sure say that this book played with my emotions and heart, like it was its main goal. I cried and laughed, swooned and felt like I am getting really emotionally and ummm sexually frustrated because, GAIA, give him some release!!!
Raegan and Tarik are my perfect star-crossed lovers as I feel like they have so many obstacles on their way of happiness. I am totally rooting for their happy ending, but these two evil genius authors are definitely prolonging my suffering.
Tarik and Raegan..... so many beautiful scenes.... water scenes.....water.... wa.... w......I am undone....
The world got so much lusher and complex. The secondary characters shined on the pages as well. I have ships I am rooting for and I feel like they need to happen. I need need need those two side ships to happen.
The ending broke me and left me in tears but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and more adventures and I have faith in Becky and Tyffany. They created a marvelous world with such complex and swoony characters. I highly recommend these series and definitely do not want to go too much into details.
Wow this book was such a fun read, but also a total kick to the feels. I absolutely loved the character development in this one. Reagan really shined and came a long way. I just love her so much! Her and Tarik also had a lot of growth in this book as well, and I loved every second of it. It was wonderful seeing the Fae realm and meeting more interesting new characters. There are some triggers in this book, but I thought they were all written/handled really well. There were some slow bits for me in the beginning but nothing that dwindled the rating enough for me. Over all I absolutely adored this book and can’t wait for the next one!
Fall Of Night will take you on an emotional rollercoaster from which you'll never want to get down. The second book in Becky Moynihan and Tyffany Hackett's Genesis Crystal Saga; it follows lion shifter Reagan, hot headed fae Tarik and their rebel companions as they embark on a quest to save Nathra City from Mordecai’s iron rule.
Fall of Night is SO GOOD! You all need to read this series. Like, right now. Just do yourself a favor and read it. The feels are HIGH. The world building is magical bliss. The Romance between Reagan and Tarik is EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE.
Still not convinced? Ok let’s do an awesomeness checklist, shall we?
- Broody Fae man with a heart of gold. - Special mention time said Fae’a healing powers! - A badass heroine that struggles with anxiety and who also happens to be a winged lion shifter!! - An amazing cast of characters including: • An incredibly supportive purple haired bff who is an amazing tattoo maker! • Gamer Fae who is also a softy • A serious as hell but sweet leader WHO IS TOO YOUNG TO HAVE FELT SO MUCH PAIN!! • Adorable twins who made it their life mission to tease their leader (and older brother). DISCLAIMER: I WAS GIVEN A FREE ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
Oh Gaia, do I love this series! Where to start? Fall of Night is an intricately woven, action packed urban fantasy with a bad ass heroine and swoon worthy alpha male.
I loved that book 2 dives further into the world building. In this story we get to see more of the Fae realm with its unique creatures and scary atmosphere. I love it when authors use multiple creatures and not just your typical beings. For example the Wendigo, I can tell the authors took their time to research the Wendigo lore and not just throw it into their story.
I originally wanted this to be a short review but I feel like I need to address some of the things that impressed me about book 2. Let's start with the character growth. I know from the authors' social media pages that their will be 4 books in this series. Having multiple books always makes me curious on how the authors will handle the main characters and their growth...the growth as an individual and as a couple.
I was impressed with Tarik and how he opens himself up to feelings and emotions for the first time. He also attempts to talk to Reagan, I love that. Tarik still holds a lot of anger but its completely understandable! He lost his first love, has been seeking vengence and fighting in his own personal version of Fight Club... I would have been pissed if the authors suddenly healed him and made him or Reagan into top shape warriors or the perfect power couple...where would that leave us for the next two books?
Then there is Reagan, our MC. Her growth also impresses me. Despite the trouble that follows her she is one bad ass chicka. She fights and fights and holds her ground...and rather than giving up she uses her anger as a tool. Considering her sheltered start to life I am envious of her strength. The pacing of both character and couple growth felt on point. (Applause. 👏)
Both Reagan and Tarik express their weaknesses and vulnerabilities to each other which in itself is brave and admirable.
Found family- this is one of my favorite tropes. And the authors do a wonderful job getting me to love this rag tag team. But I especially adore Micah and Malachi. They are twins and not only are they hot and charming they are hilarious. They bring a few needed laughs in this intense world.
Oh and of course I love Nevaeh, she is legit bad ass. Don't left her shifter form fool you.
Also there was just the right amount of romance to keep me swooning but not pull away or distract from the story. ❤
Overall: 5 Stars
PS. Can I mention HOW much I love the debate about tomatoes?
OMG. This book was sooo good. It was an amazing continuation to what started in Dawn till Dusk. I adore how the relationship between Reagan and Tarik continued to develop in this book. It was just so adorable. The rest of the book really sent me on an emotional rollercoaster. Especially the ending, omg I can't wait to read the next book! And honestly I think one of my favorite things, after the romance, in this book is Ramiel, he is just so cute and such an amazing loyal companion. I could not put this book down. I had to force myself to stop on multiple occasions for real life. I love this series and highly recommend it. I cannot wait to see where Reagan and Tarik's journey takes them. 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Fall of Night is a New Adult Urban Fantasy Romance novel, book 2 in the series.
Book Cover: 4* - So we have another photo stock cover of Reagan and Tarik getting close to each other, which again is just as nice as the first one, but it's green lol. Fun fact, each cover moving forward the characters are just going to get closer and closer, so if you want something that screams romance, well there ya go.
Summary/Tagline: 3* - Compared to the first book summary, book 2's just seems too vague. It could have elaborated a little more on where the story is heading. It also doesn't convey the large focus on Reagan and Tarik's romance. To be honest, this was the start of the book just not clicking with me.
Characters: 3* - We continue to follow only Reagan and Tarik in this book. Based on what has transpired in book 1, both characters are dealing with a lot of trauma which could be interesting based on how it could have developed, but instead Reagan mostly becomes a damsel in distress, always in need of saving. Tarik's trauma leads him to have tunnel vision for Reagan, always feeling compelled to protect her without consideration for anything else. Reagan's beaten down so many times throughout the book and always needs rescuing by either Tarik or someone else from the group. The other members could be in trouble/danger, but Tarik only cares about Reagan. In this book again Reagan and Tarik's love gets tested, causing them to have a brief, very brief, break up ending up in her getting captured and tortured. Tarik needs anger management and Reagan still needs to learn to open up more. As for other characters, Neveah, Sebastien, and Akeno are good supporting characters when they are around. The other 3 members of the group, Caspar and "The Twins", I don't remember their names because throughout the book they are mostly called the twins, act like a bunch of 5 year olds. When they start speaking I often find myself rolling my eyes at their "sarcastic" comments. Maybe that was the point, but every time I was like, "CAN YOU PLEASE READ THE ROOM!"
World Building: 2* - Ok, I'm not sure what to say here except that the world building this time around feels very vague. I don't know where anything is or why creatures from various mythologies are in this world. I still haven't a clue where Nathra city is or the names of anything surrounding it. The realm tear into the Fae World, Daranil, is somewhere over a large body of water, but nothing between Nathra city and the tear is named so it's difficult to imagine their trip geographically. The fae world, which is based on Celtic mythology, has a weird mashup of monsters from multiple mythologies. It isn't explained how or why the creatures are here. I still don't understand if the faes worship Gaia, a titan goddess of earth from Greek mythology, or if it's just a thing Tarik knows about somehow. He is the only example of Gaia being brought up. If the Faes do worship Gaia I would expect to see shrines or some other source of that integrated into the world. Also, why are faes vegetarians? Some creatures from mythology are also changed from their original sources, which if that was going to be done, I would prefer to see original creatures instead. Wendigos, from Native American mythology, a monster that went after people who are filled with greed and emerge when nature is out of balanced, have their lore altered entirely to fit the stories needs. This could have easily been a unique creature to this world. Dwarves, from Norse mythology only show up to give exposition. There is also a sea serpent from Japaneses mythology called a Mizuchi in the fae world. It seems like most of the creatures pulled from various mythologies were thrown in because they sound cool with no explanation as to why they are in this world and are altered, sometimes heavily to serve the purpose of the story. If there was an explanation as to why these creatures have been brought together and altered from their mythology, for example in the Witcher there is an event called the Conjunction of the Spheres where multiple species are magically brought together into a single world, that would be one thing, but that information just isn't here. I just wasn't into this world at all.
Story: 3* - Unfortunately, I didn't click with the story for like half the book and when I did, everything became predictable. In the story Reagan, Tarik and their friends have to escape Nathra City to find the fae world, Daranil, to seek aid to rescue the faes currently being tormented by Mordecai, the dragon shifter who rules Nathra City. On their way to Daranil things happened, Reagan can't sleep as she is haunted by what transpired at the end of book 1, a few other things happen, and they eventually make it to Daranil. More things happen, testing Reagan and Tarik's love, bad things happen, and they finally find the help they need. I just wasn't vibing the story unfortunately.
Over All: 3* - The Genesis Crystal Saga is a Romance story first and foremost, because of this, the plot feels like an afterthought. I didn't get a sense of urgency for anything happening unless Reagan was in trouble. The world is vague and I didn't click with most of the story. There were some cute and tenderhearted moments between Reagan and Tarik every now and then, it just wasn't enough for me. I am still curious about where the story is going, but it isn't something I'll be eagerly anticipating.
Fall of Night is the amazing second installment in the Genesis Crystal saga, were truths are revealed, tears are cried (mine, if you are asking) and the fight to save the Fae of Nathra City becomes more pressing than it ever was.
A thing that really struck me about this book is how characters’ past traumas are not shoved under a carpet or healed instantly just because they have fallen in love: Tarik is still the hot-headed fae of Dawn Till Dusk, but what is most important is how he tries all the same to overcome his bad habits and his fears the moment he realizes how badly Reagan needs his calm and steady presence to not fall into a pit of darkness and guilt. And it really broke my heart to see that Reagan, after a life caged under Mortdecai’s rule and what happened at the Safe House ‘because’ of her, doesn’t know how to ask for help, for comfort, or if she even deservs to have all of it. It’s funny (ah ah ah, Tiffany and Becky I hate u two) that now they both believe that they are not worth saving, that they have too much to atone and are basically ready to sacrifice themselves at any given occasion. And I mean, Reagan went through so much in this book that I feel like I’m going to riot if there is even just one threatening situation to her life in book 3 (but at least we had Emmy and Ramiel!!!)
Although I enjoyed it, Fall of Night is a bit weaker than the first book, mainly because it felt like a ‘bridge’ between it and the third one that is more focused on the word-building (I’m really intrigued by the Fae land!!! hopefully we will see more of it) and the character’ development than on the plot: the characters, their relationships and their feelings are in fact what ‘saved’ this book for me. Related to this I must say that while Reagan and Tarik being a cute couple were adorable and I really loved how their relationship in this book was handled, I missed the tension of this two hating each other and slowly getting close… but I mean, that’s a totally personal thing, and they remain my babies anyway.
I can’t wait to see how the story is going to continue next year and I’m sure until then I will miss all these incredible characters (the twins included) deeply!!!!
[ I was provided by the authors with an earc of this book in exchange of an honest review ]
I don’t even know how to start writing this review because my feelings are just up and down!! Like wow!!! Fall of Night! Wow!! Just wow!! You guys (Becky and Tyffany) meant to do that right?!! Bringing all that feeeeeeeeeels!! Like whyyy?!!
I really loved how their journey continued and how it showed us the struggles that both Tarik and Reagan were facing 💔💔 like I really loved all their scenes together and my my my all the hot steamy stuff I mean poooor Tarik 😂😂 ohhh and not to mention, some of the scenes reminded me of Supernatural show like the Windego and the spirits thing like 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 there is soo much I want to say I just don’t know how!!! And the end.. the end was just 💔💔 but I get it I get it Reagan must do what she has to do..
Ahhh and can Caspar and the Twins be my friends please?!! Cause seriously they cracked me up 🤣🤣 and definitely would like to see more of Akeno and Nev 🙈🙈
I really recommend y’all to read this series it’s really gooood!!
"Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave." --Mary Tyler Moore--
This story just keeps getting better! I just love everything about Reagan and Tarik's dynamic and developing relationship. They hold each other up and encourage each other. Even though they're both pretty fragile emotionally, once they see the other's heart, they know what is true.
"As long as my mind and body are my own, they're yours. Yours, Tarik. You--everything about you--calls to me in a way no magic ever could. [...] You're like the rise of day. The light that wakes me up, reminds me I'm alive." (Reagan) [...] "See this is why I couldn't stay away from you, even while I was angry at the whole world. How you saw me as anything byt a jerk, I'll never know. But you, on the other hand...you're what's right with the universe." (Tarik) (pg 76)
Reagan goes through quite a lot in this one. Again, the tough themes and issues addressed are very real and handled with such care, it breaks my heart when she starts talking about not wanting to go on; that she's a burden and can't take the (emotional) pain any more. I definitely started crying when Tarik told her that he loves her for the first time...that whole scene. And then they dance! (*sob*)
"When you start to drown, my hand will reach for you. When your fight is gone, I'll carry you. And maybe I can't fix you, but Gaia, I'll try. Please, Reagan." I softened my voice once ore as she paused in her crying to take a shuddering breath. "I love you. Don't go." (Tarik) (pg 148)
This time it's all about their developing love and how they want and need to express that love to each other. It doesn't get steamy in that way, but there are a couple hot makeout sessions...they aren't emotionally ready for more just yet. With these expressions of love, come some really great lines:
"[Y]ou don't cause me pain, or heartache. You heal them. You heal me. If it weren't for you, I...I'm not going anywhere, Tarik. Not without you." (Reagan)
"I want you like you want bacon. But I won't do this halfway...I want to soak in every kiss, every touch. And when I'm ready, I'll give you my all - because this has to be perfect for you, too. This isn't just about me, you know." (Reagan)
"I'll love you until my very last breath." (Tarik)
Reagan: "This. This is why you're too good for me. Because I'm not afraid to sacrifice myself to save you, but you...you always fight for is both." Tarik: "I'll fight for us both until you realize your worth, Reagan. I keep going because of you, and if something happened to you? I don't think I'd want to keep on living." Reagan: "You're the fighter and I'm the survivor. If I don't survive, that doesn't mean you don't have to fight." Tarik: "Keep surviving, and I'll keep fighting. I promise."
Seriously. Reagan and Tarik are relationship goals, and definitely in my top 5 OTPs. Cannot wait for book 3!! Please write faster!!
I was fortunate enough to be able to ARC this book and man am I glad I did. This exciting journey with Fae's, shape shifters, and magic kept me on my toes the entire read and allowed my imagination to run wild. Danger and excitement lurking in every corner has the reading not knowing what will happen next. The growing journey of love and chemistry between the two main characters is hot and steamy. Whew, fanning myself. I can't wait for the next book to come out. This book has to be on your TBR list as it's released at the end of this month. Well, the first one too, lol.
In a completely kick @$$ continuation in the Genesis Crystal Saga, Fall of Night delivers in every way! The world building continues to be solid and transformative, the character building draws you in and makes everyone your friend or your enemy, and the story continues to draw you in with emotion, thrills, and laughter. I already can't wait until the next book because taking this journey with Tarik and Reagan is absolutely one of the highlights of my year! Becky and Tyfanny definitely delivered with this book!
Tarik and Reagan continue their journey in the second installment!
This was action packed. More fighting, more secrets, more angst. The Fae and the Shifters War is still at a head but more secrets are revealed, new characters are introduced, new allies are gained.
I liked it, really really liked it actually, but I’ve been sitting here for a while now still trying to collect my thoughts on everything that happened in this book and write a review that will do it justice. I recommend it, but maybe wait until the rest of the books are out before you start the series so you don’t have to sit, and “suffer” waiting for the rest of the series like I am 😂
What a pleasant surprise ! This book took me on a wild ride. It was super faced paced but well written. The world building was phenomenal. Following the continuation of Tarik and Reagan’s story was everything I wanted it to be and more. The slow burn romance was done in such a great way that just left you wanting more (book 3 and 4 better get steamy yo... don’t blue balls me) I saw some of the twists but not all which is always a treat for me since I seem to have a sixth sense for plot twists and surprises. The story left off with some unanswered questions that just have me wanting the next book right meow.
I loved this book. The story is so freaking great! I love that we get to find out a little more about the Fae and their history. And, honestly, Reagan and Tarik’s relationship is so beautiful and, at times, frustrating that I am already desperate for the third instalment. 100% a must read!
SO MUCH HAPPENED HERE! This book had so much going on that I didn't know which way to look! From the escape of Nathra to the fight in the ocean to the sea serpent🐉 showing up to the incubi and the wendigo and the Collectors and the dwarves and the Rajwa and narm and the palace and queen and EVERYTHING that happened in Daranil. Every way you looked either Tarik was being injured or Reagan was almost getting killed. It was nuts, but I enjoyed every minute of it!
I really liked the fast pace of this book and how something was always happening. You definitely knew that if the story was starting to slow down that something was about to happen...and you might not like what.
I knew from the moment Umnia mentioned the Queen that she was going to be Reagan's mother. In book one, once it was revealed that her mom was fae, I knew she was going to end up being someone important (figured Reagan's parents were important people for Mordecai to have taken her and raised her). So this wasn't a big surprise. But I did really like that their relationship wasn't just automatically great. It makes sense for someone who has gone through what Reagan has to be reluctant when finding out that he mother is alive and had stopped looking for her. Though I am glad that they were able to come to some sort of peace, and I hope to see more of their relationship blossom in the next book.
I loved seeing Reagan and Tarik's relationship blossom and grow. In the middle after her hallucinations when the Collectors drugged her, that hitch in their relationship was so well thought out! It ended up bringing them even closer and solidifying their relationship even more with more trust between them. I love Tarik even more after this book. I was afraid that the crystal would be a sticking point for him and that he might get too territorial over it and it would cause problems, so when he gave it to Umnia to give her the strength she needed to help them it was a big relief for me!
The rebels are so lovable! I loved getting to see more of their personalities come out in the book and watch the relationships between them grow and change! Akeno and Nevaeh are adorable and I want to see then end up together! I also really want to see Sebastian and Umnia have something because Seb deserves some happiness. Watching he and Tarik fight and forgive and uplift each other through this story was so heartening, and honestly one of my favorite parts.
Anyways, looking forward to the next installment!
Rating: 4⭐

This book isn't bad. This book isn't great either. It suffered from second book syndrome. The first book was a great urban fantasy and this book just had a lot of building up to do and it kinda lacked the vavavoom of the first book.
Writing style: It's simple writing which makes it super easy to get through. The pace of the book was a little on the slow side for me. The world building and big reveals didn't wow me at all. The first book had a nice flow to it, this book felt like a broken record that keeps skipping and skipping.
Characters: Even though we saw plenty of Reagan and Tarik, I don't feel like I did. They weren't acting out of character or anything, they just felt really far away. Reagan's "I'm useless, I'm not worthy, I'm deadweight" inner battle was extremely annoying. She was such a badass in the first book and she struggled there too, but this book she was just a shadow of herself...
Story: This book did not hold my interest at all. I had to put it away and try again later, because I was just so bored at times. It's not that nothing is happening, but I just wasn't invested enough to care about it.
I am going to read the next book when it comes out, because I want to know how this story continues. I am a little disappointed that this wasn't as great as the first book. I'm giving it 2,5 stars and that rating would be lower if not for the great writing.
Fall of Night (Genesis Crystal Saga, Book 2) By Tiffany Hackett & Becky Moynihan ~~This 2nd book has EVERYTHING! Picking up right where the first left off, Reagan, Tarik, Naeva, Aekro, Seb, Caspor and twins are scrambling to stop the Moredali across their world. Reagan is stepping into her power as a lion shifter and Fae, but the weight of that destiny is heavier than ever. So many surprises...
The enemies-to-lovers tension between Reagan and Tarik just keeps building! Tarik’s cold, guarded exterior starts to melt—just a little—and the way he protects Reagan even when he pretends not to care. Their dynamic had me swooning and screaming.
But the betrayal? OMG—I was not ready when Flynn, someone they trusted, turned on them. My heart dropped. The action in this one is non-stop, the lore deepens, and the bond between this unlikely crew grows stronger (even when they’re driving each other crazy).
The ending DESTROYED me. Loss, heartbreak, and a twist that left me yelling at my Kindle. How do they expect me to survive until the next book?! I LOVE ❤️ this series, I love these characters, and I need more NOW.~~ Were is book 3 I hope I don't have to wait to long!!!
>Book Review – Fall of night >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Genesis Crystal Saga and ends in a cliffhanger. Reagan and friends travel to the land of the Fae in order to get help to defeat the evil King. There are a lot of unknown dangers and really weird creatures that are constantly attacking everyone. The descriptions of the creatures are wild. A cute new creature is the lizard, Ramiel. He actually plays a pretty important role when Reagan is kidnapped. >There are some disturbing scenes of mental torture. Reagan finds out her origins and has a hard time coming to terms with everything. Tarik show his support, protection and love in a real Alpha style. My favorite part of the story dealt with Tarik and Reagan’s physical relationship. I felt the way they were taking their physical relationship slowly was realistically shown. Tarik was willing to push the boundaries, but respected Reagan’s uncertainty. >This book is appropriate for a young adult (18+) audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. I love when the main couple are solid and in love.
This series is slowly becoming one of my all time favourites. I love both Reagan and Tarik, and the authors are so good at blending their writing styles so that the dual POV’s go together seamlessly.
One thing I didn’t like was that Reagan sort of became a damsel in distress in this book. But that is just a personal preference, and it introduced an interesting secondary villain. I mean how f*cked up is it to capture and drug shapeshifters for a collection. I mean yes Reagan was in pain but it made for an interesting story! Another thing is at some parts of the book I got bored, which is why I’m not giving this 5 stars!
Lastly, I usually get bored once a couple has formed in a book. I’m all about waiting for them to get together. But Tarik and Reagan are something else! I love them together and if Reagan wasn’t with Tarik, let’s just say he’s one of my new book boyfriends haha (now y’all know who my favourite character is).

I had NO idea what direction the story was going in, which is super refreshing instead of predicting what's about to happen. I could NOT put the book down because I was dying to know what happened next.
I wish I had time to re-read book one to familiarise myself with the characters, the original story, and rekindle why I fell in love with the first book to make this a five star review since I sort of struggled to connect with them 😔 Perhaps I should return to my old habits of bingeing series back to back 😅
Basically ended the book like when’s the next book out I need to find out what happens next! It was interesting to take the book out of the urban setting from book one into a more fantasy realm in this book. Gave the book a different feel but every bit as dangerous.
When you thought this was a completed duology and now you’re laying in bed realizing you were dead wrong <<<<<< 🥺😩
I binged this series in just a couple of days and thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved the enemies to loved romance and the found family tropes 💕
This is a perfect read for fans of NA fantasy! There’s no spice, but def heated tension that I loved throughout. Also, the emotional turmoil of our MCs is real and hard and had my heart hurting. All things that completely suck you in to a character and their world!
Story was good but seriously lacking in sizzle of romance. Heroine Reagan 19 and only kissed by Hero Tariq, age 23, who painstakingly is satisfied with kisses and hand holding. Every afterthought or inkling past embrace of kisses is interrupted. Storyline is intricate, but leaves readers hanging with no 3rd book finale time-line.
Really enjoyed reading this. Kept me intrigued until the very end as there was never a dull moment. Ready for the next book to see how the adventure continues.
