Lady Jo Danvers has declared war on her humdrum life. Armed with a list of ways to be wicked, she will step out of her role as never-been-kissed wallflower and experience passion. With the right gentleman, of course. She just has to find him.

Mr. Elijah Decker, the handsome businessman she cannot stop thinking about, is definitely no gentleman. And he is decidedly all wrong. Unfortunately for Jo, she has unwittingly given him her list.

When Decker discovers Jo's list mistakenly tucked between the pages of a pamphlet for the Lady's Suffrage Society, he is intrigued. And after she realizes her error and storms his office demanding he return it, Decker agrees on one condition: that she accept his aid in crossing off each scandalous act.

What begins as a lark quickly sizzles into something deeper and unexpected. But Decker's dark side and perilous secrets may tear them apart before Jo's sinful quest is complete...

Scarlett Scott is one of my favorite historical romance authors. I’ve been a fan for years. This is the story of Lady Jo Danvers and Mr. Elijah Decker. Decker, illegitimate son of nobility, who is used to their scorn, moves in their circles because of his wealth. Though he strives to project an air of ruthlessness, he is actually kind and generous in many ways. He’s a rake, but he’s a good person beneath his devil-may-care facade. Lady Jo just wants to experience passion and doesn’t think very far beyond that desire. She writes her fantasies down in list form and foolishly loses track of said scandalous document! Decker can’t help himself when an opportunity for wickedness and blackmail presents itself!

The premise of this book is fun and creative. I loved Elijah! He was so wonderful. Jo was very naive and impulsive, but she was kindhearted. Neither of the characters acted irrationally or like a hothead toward one another. They were both very mature, levelheaded, and likeable which was refreshing! The chemistry between the MC’s was sizzling! Loved that Lady Jo was a part of the suffrage movement and that Decker published their pamphlets. I enjoy how Scott weaves historical accuracy with romance.

Ms. Scott is another new-to-me author. This book is readable, but it is kind of...boring. I dozed off a couple of times (maybe tiredness had a hand here, but if the story is interesting enough, I won't doze off so many times, and I had a hard time picking it up again). I should have loved this book as it has one of my fav pairings; a wallflower and a rake. I think the 1st half is repetitive (they met clandestinely, they kissed, and something or someone would interfere with them before anything worse than kissing happened; I believe this happened 4 times, once or twice is fine, but 4 times?? That's just pushing it). The spicy bits only happened after they married, and that would be in the 2nd half of the book. I'd find the spicy bits are also repetitive, and I think the lack of sexual tension contributed to the book's dreariness. I think this book doesn't offer anything new as it features another virginal heroine that takes to sex like a fish takes to water and a rake with a heart of gold. I don't find any fault with her writing; the writing is fine. I would try a few of her other books before deciding she isn't for me.

This book is fluctuates between 2-2.5 stars for me. Certain parts were decent - first few chapters started off great, good banter between characters, some tender moments between hero and heroine, and then the rest was... meh...

Lady Jo Danvers is sick of being the proverbial third wheel - constantly surrounded by friends and family hopelessly in love with their respective partners. She writes a list of wicked ways in an attempt to inject some excitement into her life. Infamous rake and wealthy businessman Elijah Decker accidentally finds the list and decides that he should be the one to assist her in her plans.

I love a heroine taking charge of her life plot and that was what drew me to this book. Some of my favourites - “Suddenly You” by Kleypas and “Nine Rules” by Maclean - follow a similar trope, but sadly “Lady Wallflower” didn’t quite live up to expectations.

The main stumbling block for me is that Jo is not even close to a life of spinsterhood. She is 19 (!) and in her first season (!!), so she hardly qualifies as a wallflower or is old enough to be sulking about not having experienced enough (!!!). Decker on the other hand is almost 10 years older at 28. I know age gaps in HR are often times wider than modern romances, and honestly I do not care. But this combination of horny opportunistic older man and delusional young girl is just creepy AF.

The other thing I struggled with is the writing style. Many repetitive words like “mayhaps” (maybe or perhaps - just bloody pick one) and “Axminster” (which I googled and now understand to be a very expensive type of carpet). The sex scenes are frequent and graphic - no problem there - but how many times does one need to read the words “cunny” and “cock”?? I have absolutely no issue with the words and dirty talk done right can be so fucking sexy. But where is the tension and lusty build up and sensuality we love in a good romance novel?

MAYHAPS, I have just been ruined by authors like Kleypas, Maclean etc etc and cannot deal seemingly minor infringements.

Sorry. I tried and really wanted to like Scarlett Scott’s series. But not sure it is my thing.

Decker is my book hero , he’s a hard nut but this guy is everything you wish for in your dreams.
Get ready to drool and swoon , meet the hero that only Scarlett can write so well, 10/10.

He’s had a hard life , an Earls Illegitimate son, now he’s one of the richest men in London but he leads a debauched lifestyle and a reputation that no mother would want their daughter being involved with him.

Lady Jo is his partner in secret, she’s written a wicked list that is now in his possession.
She has to play by his rules or risk the chance of ruin.
But she risks that being in his presence anyway.
What more is keeping them together, something stronger that neither see coming.
Love 💕

Excellent writing that leaves you breathless.
Steamy scenes that fog your kindle.
Passion that is out of this world .
Scarlett is in a league of her own in this genre.
Outstanding!

AUDIBLE EDITION!! EXCELLANT NARRATORS!!

Lady Wallflower was absolutely marvelous. I loved this story as much as I did Bk..1 Lady Ruthless.

Lady Josephine Danvers sister to the Earl of Ravenscroft has written a list of of wicked things she wants to experience. Lady Jo as she is know is a beautiful, rich 19 year old. She is know as a Wallflower because she is shy.

Mr. Elijah Decker is obscenely rich illegitimate son of the deceased Earl Lord Graham. Lord Graham could not leave Decker his title and the entailed lands that belonged to the title. But he left Decker with a obscene amount of land and money that was not entailed to the title. Decker builds upon this wealth and becomes one of the riches men of his time.

Decker is accidently given Jo's list of wicked intentions and who she wants to do these acts with. The list accidently got put in her delivery of publications for The Lady's Suffrage Society

Decker finds the list and reads it. He has told Jo he will be the only Man she will do these wicked acts with. They proceed to cross of the list of wicked acts.

I love this story. I like stories were enemies grow into lovers and marry. I like that most of the story takes place after they are married. I like that Jo is a 19 year old debutant. She is intelligent beautiful and rich. She is also Kind and Compassionate.

Decker is 28 years old and doesn't believe in love. His heart was broken when he was a very young man. I loved the nickname Decker gives Jo. He calls her Bijou/Jewel also, Josie. Very Sweet and Endearing names or Jo.

I also, liked the Scottish character Macfie, Deckers Assistant. He was so funny. This story is funny, at times.
Great Story with Great Characters. Erotic storyline but it also, has and excellent story. Excellent Audible Narration!! The Narrators were very good. I Highly Recommend getting the Audible Edition of Lady Wallflower

It was not bad but it wasn't great either.

The Plot
Wallflower Lady Jo's to-do list of "Wicked Things" falls in Elijah Decker's hands. He is intrigued by the list and wants her to complete each item with him. A little back and forth, she agrees, they embark on trying to check off items, get caught, get married, work on their marriage, emotional holdout, tragedy, then they fall in love and live happily ever after.

Things that worked
- Scarlett Scott has a gift for keeping her readers interested no matter how good or bad the plot is. The prose is effortless, historically accurate, steamy, humorous and emotional. The pacing of the story was effective.
- The tropes may be common but the characters have some uniqueness to them, the chemistry is always sizzling without it feeling out of place or repetitive. The supporting characters & their relationships were interesting as well.
- This book felt like a steamier ode to 'Nine Rules to Break...' so I was interested.

Things that were not so great
- The plot was meh. Not bad but been there, read that, multiple times. The "chip on the shoulder, I want to experience life, bad parent, abandonment issues" tropes are famous in HR novels so no complaints about using them here but there was nothing different about it, predictable is the word I am looking for.
- The convincing of Jo for list completion felt coerced, not a fan of that.

The Hero
Rake, handsome & rich check, check & check. A bastard son of an Earl, Decker predictably had daddy issues, abandonment issues and apparently mommy issues, sister issues & ex issues as well. Basically, he was an emotionally closed off whiny poster child for familial issues. I love me some psychologically damaged heroes, the problem with Decker was that he stopped being endearing pretty quickly due to his "I am good but I want people to see me bad". His emotional holdout went on too long. He mostly came across as a petulant teenager up until 75% of the book and that is when his character development kicked in. But he was nice to Jo & was taking care of her, liked spending time with her, that was cute. His conversations with his aide de camp (ADC) were hilarious.

The Heroine
Jo was utterly likeable. What I admired most about her was her patience and not jumping to horrible conclusions. Her relationship with everyone was so stable, loving and endearing. She was the stabilising force in Decker's life and kept the book afloat. She is the reason I gave this book 3 stars! What a nice girl.

My Recommendation
It's cute, read it. This book is a nice placeholder until you read the next one - Lady Reckless.

Jo and Elijah Decker. This is a story about a guy whose "cock" falls in love with the heroine way before the hero's brain does. I would even say that his cock is a side character in this story. It even had more class than the hero sometimes. For example, when the hero was thinking of a blonde with huge melons it deflated letting the hero know that it was solely Jo's now and was not going to stand up for sloppy seconds. LOL
The heroine made a wicked list and that also was intertwined in the story.
It did irk me that he told his former love that he was in love with his wife before he actually told his wife, but at least his wife overheard that part too. I like that the author did not have the heroine leave misunderstanding that conversation between Decker and Nora.
I plan on reading the rest of the series.

DNF @ 20%. Included with Audible Plus. I liked the premise (wallflower FMC has a wicked to do list, rogue-ish and wrong side of the tracks MMC finds said list and convinces her to let him help her tick off each item), but... I don't know. Not sure if I'm in a reading slump, it's this book or the narration, but it just wasn't holding my attention. Might try again later.

KU. April Reads. Tropes: Victorian Romance, Wallflower/Spinster/Bluestocking/Governess, Class Difference, Arranged/Forced Marriage, Friend/Family,
***************************************
MC's h. Lady Josephine Danvers (Jo), wallflower with a wish list that accidently falls in a Rakehell's hands, bestfriend Callie (Sin) Book #1. Brother Earl of Ravencroft (American heiress & Son), Sister Alexandra (husband & expecting first baby)
*****************************************
MC H. Mr. Elijah Decker, illigitimate son of an Earl, bestfriend Earl of Sinclair, Book #1, owns several businesses including Black Souls Club and his right hand man is MacFie. He is intrigued by Jo's list and is interested in helping her out. He is estranged from his mother Serafina Decker and has a 12 year old sister Lila.
******************************************
Opinion: Scarlett Scott is a new author for me. I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it, rating it 4 stars. This story was fairly straight forward. Take a young proper miss with a curiousity about sex with a secret fantasy list that finds its way into a Rogue's hands. This man fantasizes about her and the list. The next thing you know they are secretly meeting to check off items on her list. By their third meeting Jo and Decker are caught in the act. The Earl, Jo's brother, doesn't want his sister to marry Decker but Decker insists and Jo agrees. Once they are married there are many pages with lusty love scenes. Hot Hot Hot! A couple of issues come up from Decker's past that throw a wrench into wedded bliss. But over all it was an endearing love story with two sex crazed lovers, with character development and growth on Decker's part and love satisfied for Jo.
******************************************
The characters in this story that were in book one: Earl of Sinclair & Callie, Duke & Duchess of Westmorland. New characters in this book: Jo's sister Alexandra & husband L. Harry Marlow (pregnant with first child), Jo's brother, Earl of Ravencroft, Julian Danvers & his Countess Clara (son Arthur), new lady suffragette member L. Helena Davenport, L. Huntingdon, her friend. Decker's mother Serafina & sister Lila, his ex Nora L. Tinley & right hand man MacFie. I gave this 4 stars.

Meh. This could’ve been soooo much better, so much more intense if the hero’s putrid, gross STD-riddle past wasn’t constantly being brought up. We get it, we get it—the hero has zero self control, discernment and will stick his overused dick into any overused vagina he can find.

I loved the plot and the premise of the story. The heroine was amazing. She was gentle but not a pushover. Sweet and innocent, the light to the hero’s darkness. I just wish there had been less mentions of the hero sliming around with whores

I loved that once he was in pursuit of heroine she was it for him. He was 100% devoted and faithful to her. There was one scene where OW he *thought* he loved as a youth comes back. He pushes her away. And turns out—

He didn’t love her after all! He never knew love until the heroine.

NOT safe. Hero’s past is mentioned ad nauseum to the point I was nauseous. No OM, but very briefly OW drama. No sex with others, no cheating or sharing. HEA with epilogue

Mult mai spicy decât celelalte pe care le-am citit din colecție, dar mi-a plăcut la nebunie!
Cred că scena mea preferată e când Decker mânca înghețată de unul singur și era supărat că Jo
" l-a părăsit ".
Ah, și l-am iubit pe Macfie... Cu sprâncenele și forța lui... Cu tot! A fost savuros.
M-am amuzat copios la carte și i-am iubit pe cei doi protagoniști.

My Favorite Quote from the Book: "Now and forever. My heart has always known yours.”

Mr. Elijah Decker is a handsome, wealthy, bastard son of the Earl and a very successful businessman. He is snubbed by society because of his birth and the debauched life he lives but inside Decker lives a completely different and wonderful man - if only someone could see it and bring it to the surface.

Lady Jo Danvers is a beautiful sister of an earl and she is very bored with the way her life is going. All of her friends are married and Jo hasn't even experienced a kiss. Her answer to this is to build a list of some wicked things she would like to do and now all she needs is to find a man to help her check off the items on her list.

After Jo drops off printing to be done at Mr. Decker's printing company; Decker finds a list among the pages to be printed. A very intriguing and wicked list and after sending her a missive, she realizes her list she has been searching for is in his possession. Decker agrees to return the list to her but on the condition that he aid her in fulfilling the items on her list.

The electricity between Decker & Josie amazing - I loved the story, I loved Decker and Josie and Scarlett Scott deserves 10 Stars for making me feel so many emotions throughout the book.

I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.

Tired of life passing her by, Lady Jo Danvers makes a list of wicked things she would like to accomplish. When notorious rake Elijah Decker finds Jo's list, he's determined to help her cross off each wicked fantasy on her list.

It took me a while to get into this book because the build up is weak. At first, Jo was prejudiced and hated Decker because of his rakish reputation. But Jo changes her mind so quickly that it would be disingenuous to label this book an enemies to lovers romance. The same with Decker quickly changing his mind about Jo being snobbish. I wish there was more build up, starting from their very first meeting, so we could actually witness their first impression of each other. I also wish the build up leading to the first kiss was prolonged.

I actually really enjoyed Decker as a hero, even though he annoyed me in the beginning. His character arc is so well-written. Decker is all "no marriage!!! no romance!!! just sex!!!," but then he proceeds to romance the shit out of Jo by feeding her ice cream and sweets 🤣🥰 This is the moment I got invested in the story because it became clear that Decker is 💯 smitten with Jo 😂 It's hilarious how confused he is about the ~feels~ taking over him. Everyone around him can see he's 💯 enamoured of Jo, but Decker himself is so confused 😂

I also LOVED Macfie as a supporting character. His friendship with Decker was my EVERYTHING. I constantly anticipated Macfie's scenes because he killed me with laughter 😂 I reaaaally hope the author writes a story for Macfie.

Lady Wallflower has a lot of humour and fun banter, which is why I enjoyed it a bit more than Lady Ruthless. The Decker and Macfie scenes were my absolute favourite 😂💀 That being said, this book also deals with the death of a loved one, grief, and regret. So it does have its emotionally heavy moments, which add a lot more depth to Decker's character arc.

One thing that I found a bit awkward is the heroine's age. Jo is only 19 years old, but she's already complaining about not having experienced things in life? Jo is also absurdly mature for her age. It would have made more sense if Jo was older, perhaps a spinster.

I’ve been unlucky with the last few books I’ve read.
This one was a bad imitation of similar books that preceded it. ie, Nine rules to break when romancing a rake.
h had a “ways to be wicked” list and H wanted to help her. And they were instantly attracted. Married at around 50% of the book. Not much stopping them except H’s aversion to saying “i love you.” You see, he is a bastard and he was jilted for a viscount by his lady love when he was 18.
Lots of smut and countless pages about H being horny for h.
I skimmed so much zzzz sex that i finished the book in 2 hrs.

This is the second book in the series but could be read on its own. I loved that the third Danvers sibling has had her story & that characters from the previous book in the series & also characters from other series make appearances, for me it’s the icing on the cake. I loved Jo who's feisty & intelligent but I adored Decker who was so much more than he seemed. Oh boy their attraction was combustible, whilst he was a rake who only had one night stands he didn’t rush Jo & surprised himself by wanting to see more of her. A well written engrossing entertaining read which was a lovely romance, I loved every page & so glad I started it early in the day as I found it to be unputdownable
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Well another book I loved by Scarlett Scott! This is the 2nd book in the series The Notorious Ladies of London, but it is a stand-alone book. This book is about Decker, who is an illegitimate son of an Earl and a businessman, and Lady Jo, who is bored with her life, and wants to experience passion, she wants to be wicked. Jo makes a list, Ways to be Wicked, which Decker finds, which tempts him. Decker and Jo have such a chemistry it will give you goosebumps. I really like Decker; he is a man who is not at all what he seems. I love a bad boy who cannot help being good with the right women. I believe I have a crush on him. This book was so good and so well written, I finished it on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I have read the 1st 2 books in this series and I cannot wait to read more.
I received a free copy of this book, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed it much better than its predecessor. It was a little different than expected and was happy for it. The characters stayed true to their introduction. But also developed in a manner which was enjoyable to read. I loved reading this second book in the series. It felt more mature, love the fact the partners never underestimated each other, which was a fresh breath of air in a genre which is heavy with cliches and tropes.
And surprisingly, other characters who were introduced as acquaintances or family members like brother or sisters to the MC's- were interesting to read about as well. And when we get to the authors acknowledgment at the end, you realize these secondary characters have stories of their own in a separate book. Its the author's way of bringing around everything in a circle.
Will recommend.

These two characters!! I really fell in love with the hero of the story. Decker just can’t get enough of his heroine Jo. I really enjoyed list that Jo created it created a lot of scenes for them to play out which is very juicy and sexy. We learn a lot about Deckers past with his mother and sister. And we get a lot of scenes of Decker being upset with himself because he can’t get enough of Jo. I really enjoy scenes when the hero can admit himself that he is in love with his heroine. If your historical romance reader this book is definitely for you there are a lot of sexy times and a lot of amazing scenes of these two. A definite must read if you’re a Scarlett Scott fan.

I have liked the first book in the series much more.
Here we are in the reformed rake trope but… The H already is a good man who does not need to reformed. H helps orphans, he is kind, he is not cruel to his lovers, he likes sex… that does not need to change 😉

The wallflower is actually very well informed, pretty and has a good dowery. She just came out , it is her first season … a bit too early to label her a wallflower.

Last point that did not help me appreciating the book was the sex. I like steamy books but when pages and pages of sex go on and hinder the pace of the story it becomes boring.

I will continue with the rest of the series nonetheless.

How to train your rake

Decker aka Eli has a list one that he can't believe belongs to the wallflower Jo aka Josie but it does! Decker summons her to his office to taught her with the list but he is raging in lust at the items and demands he helps her cross off every single one! Jo is attracted to him but knows he's a walking heartbreak! As Eli Decker sets out to seduce Jo! This little innocent has him in heat and knocks him six to sideways! Jo sees so much depth to him then he ever shows the public! I can't wait to read more of this series and dare I hope the Duchess of Longleigh will one day get her own HEA? If you love scorching heat levels that warm your fingers as you turn pages then this is for you!! When an ex tries to rear her ugly head there is a nice break from traditional eavesdrop from Jo!! Beautifully written!!!

This was a most entertaining read. I liked the characters of Lady Jo Danvers and Elijah very much. They had an amusing first encounter, Decker was such a tease! There was much more to Decker than he showed to society. He had a complex background and this affected the way he behaved. Once they began their relationship, Jo saw Decker for who he really was. Decker had a strong friendship with his second in command, Macfie. Their banter was very comical and Macfie always knew what was the best course of action for Decker. This was one of my favorite books by Scarlett Scott. I have read every one of her books and have loved them all so it is hard to pick a favorite. This is up there as one. I loved these two characters and their story. The sexual tension was out of bounds and the sex was super hot. Can't wait for the next one.

Some books just need more than 5 stars.
