I'm very proud to admit that I was one of the people that backed this project on Kickstarter and I'm happy to see it here on Goodreads.

Yooka-Laylee is such a fun world and I'm glad that a somewhat rocky launch of the first game didn't kill off this budding franchise entirely. Kracklestone (and the underrated game Impossible Lair) really showed that there's some meat to this world beyond "we're trying to imitate Banjo-Kazooie" and there's a fun little story packed in here with all of its fun lizard and bat drawings.

Plus this book has a lot of Dr. Quack. I love Dr. Quack. If you can't fully picture him just from his name alone, he's a mad scientist that's also a disembodied duck head that rides around in a gumball machine and arguably one of the best designs from the Yooka-Laylee franchise. The only weakness this book has is that there's not enough of his employer Capital B, but that's a minor downside.

I'm not entirely sure how well I'd grade this book on the basis of "is it entertaining for people who have never played either of the Yooka-Laylee games" but it's a definite five star rating for people who are familiar with these characters.

I ordered this book from the DreamPrism website, and it shipped faster and arrived swifter than I dares to hope! Not only was the hardcover and actual pages of the book extremely high quality, the content of the book itself was very satisfying and true to the characters in the game series. It was a very enjoyable side read, and I look forward to more from D.M. Cumbo!
