WOLF SHADOW is the 3rd book in the Wind River series, and introduces a new stranger arriving in the town of Wind River.
Yancey Rowlett is a bear of a man (in fact he arrives into town wearing a coat made out of a bear hide) after taking an arduous trek through an extreme winter storm after a fight with some hired guns after him in McRaney's Trading Post, and a stop along the way to help young Lon who's a local cowboy who's been attacked by wolves.
Upon his arrival, Yancey seeks out sheriff Cole Tyler, as Yancey had known Cole's late father very well. Things go smoothly as Yancey becomes loved by the people in town, but appears to be hiding something from his past, and it seems only a matter of time until that past catches up with him.
Cole is uneasy as he starts to see more signs that trouble could be brewing in the now peaceful town of Wind River, and he hopes to find the truth to be able to protect the town (and hopefully Yancey) from whatever it is from his past that haunts him.

I really liked this one, Yancey is a character that you pull for even though you know there is more to him than meets the eye, and as the action picks up as the story goes forward, I found myself hoping that the old mountain man has a chance to settle down in the town that he's come to love.

What a sad story, but good.

So much going on. Never expected the ending. Highly recommended for all readers. Clean and honest story with vengeance, theft, and love in the end.

Wolf Shadow (Wind River)

Superb. A great read with a surprise ending. I didn't see that coming. Reasoned is at his best with this story. You will get a charge out of this western tale so, "Giddy Up."
