This fast paced, action intensive story was a great conclusion to Pohler’s Vampires of Athens trilogy. I love the mix of vampires and Greek mythology. Pohler’s unique twist on both, bringing them together in such a unique manner creates a fantastic backdrop for the world that she’s created. I thoroughly enjoyed the different looks at the Greek Pantheon, the way that she keeps true to the Greek myths, while also giving them a twist. The message of accepting our differences, whatever they may be, was quite poignant.

Pohler’s world and character building continue throughout this novel, without regurgitating what we’ve learned in previous novels. I love how her larger than life descriptions continue to build the unique pockets of the world that her characters inhabit while also depending on the true geography of our planet. The characters also continue to grow with their adventures. I love how they stay who they are yet their understanding of the world around them and of the individuals around them grows by leaps and bounds. Gertie’s need to stand up for what’s right, regardless of the personal consequences was fantastic. The original songs in the novel also add to the story. Not only do the lyrics give you a peek into who Hector is on the inside, but they also set the tone for certain scenes.

Pohler has definitely created a YA novel (and series) that will be loved by readers of all ages. The unique blend of the paranormal with Greek mythology is breathtaking and will leave you dying for more.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Absolute EPIC conclusion to an awesome tale of vampires and Greek mythology! I received this copy in exchange for an honest review, and that is exactly what you're getting!

Poor Gertie was thrown into a world she'd never dreamed existed. From the beginning of book one all she wanted was acceptance. In this finale, not only did she find her way in life, she also got answers, family, true love, and friendships that will last forever.

I was never a fan of Greek mythology. As a matter of fact, I actually failed my first book report on the subject in grade school, lol. Eva Pohler has a way of teaching the subject easily through her writing style. You feel like you're an unseen character in the books themselves. I always hate to see a wonderful series end, but this ending was so touching and heartfelt, that I could actually appreciate the characters even more.

Thank you for an awesome adventure, Mrs Pohler! Wouldn't want it any other way :)

Vampire Ascension is the 3rs book in the Vampires of Athens series. This series is amazing and I definitely recommend that you read books 1 & 2 before reading this book.
In this book, Gertie and her friends have many adventure while trying to stop the vampire rebellion and get the gods to treat the vampires fairly.
The plot is interesting and flows smoothly with lots of twists and turns. Some of the surprising twists will blow your mind (especially when Gertie learns more about her family).
The characters in this book are very well developed and also very relatable. I love the strong friendships that they have and how they are always willing to risk everything for each other. Gertie, Jeno, and Hector have an amazing friendship and truly care about each other. And I liked that Klaus and Nina were involved in the adventures in this book.
I don't want to give to many details because I hate giving spoilers, but I can tell you that I loved this book and I highly recommend it.

OMGee the Feels!!!
What an epic conclusion to this story! Gertie is still trying to become and do what is right, and with the help of both Hector and Jeno they are able to do just that. I can't believe the emotional places that Eva takes us, she is able to weave the story and you just float along with it!
What is even more amazing, are the ways she is able to no only incorporate all of the love, drama, heartache and redemption in one story... we get history, music mythology and so much more!
I loved the extra pieces of Hectors music and that we could use links to actually hear what we were reading about. It really added to the story.
I know that the trilogy is complete now, but I would so love to read more about how this continues. I can't say more without spoilers so I will leave it at that.
Well written and I am thoroughly addicted! From book one with Gertie and Juno on the bus, all the way through to the ruins.... I LOVED this series!

An Epic Conclusion to A Riveting Tale!!!

This book couldn't have ended any other way. It was absolutely amazing! I laughed, I cried, I cried some more, and I even contemplated mortality. Pohler never fails to bring you a piece of art full of meaning, and emotion! Her take on Greek mythology is always different, and satisfying, and this is just another shining example of that. This book was quite the adventure full of twists, and turns, and packed full of lessons. You won't want to miss out on this adventure, I promise it's worth it!

She has such a unique way of creating people and worlds you care about even if the feels crush you your still in love with the story. Thank you Eva for such wonderful worlds to escape into. And yes it gets its own fanfiction treatment. ;)

As the last book ( Vampire - affiliation ) ends with dramatic ending so starts the beginning of the last book of the series Vampire Ascension with the death of Jeno's Father but another vampire Euripides took his place and threaten to not only kill Gertie and Hector but almost took Klaus but the only way to save him was to turn him into a vampire and the only way to turn him back into a human again is to kill the vampire that has possession over them. Meanwhile Diane Gertie's mother comes back into the picture and is shocked to find out that her daughter was turned into a vampire but there was some tension between Gertie & Diane. There was more drama that lead them to leave Athens and fly over to New York City. Once they got over to new York Euripides still had possession of Klaus mind and almost killed Jeno for the 2nd time. So Klaus , Gertie & jeno had to go feed so Jeno took them out and took them to this vampire pub where they had to go thru alot of different tests to be allowed in and in the ned Klaus dies because of one of the Gods within the pub they tried to save him but no use but one God there gave them little hope in terms of saving Nikita's brother Klaus. The God gave them his Lyre to go down to the underworld in hopes that Hector could play it for Hades and he would give back Nikita's brother ' s soul. Once they got back to Gertie's house and saw them drag Klaus in. Nikita was on Gertie's heels about something that she didn't want Nikita to know but she threaten Gertie and she gave in and told her what was happening. Gertie turned her friend into a vampire and the journey begins back to Athens now to go back and see if everyone's ok from the upraising war that took place when they were over in New York. They have been lead to one God to another goddess on a wild goose chase and in the mist of all of this Gertie finds out WHO she really is and WHO are REAL parents are. Once you think that they have finally solved the situation they are thrown back in the chaos of everything with the Gods's helping them on their mission adding onto them with their favors and all. After everything is finally done and saved the vampire race the unthinkable happens Jeno dies so that he can be with his father which means that Gertie is now NOT a vampire at all but it breaks her heart that he died so that Hector and Gertie could have a chance at love since Jeno had 30 yrs of love. NOW all the Morgans are back together and moved to Athens and employed Baba as their personal chef and built an onsite house for the Angelis Family and the Children are finally going back to school and their lives are turning back to normal once more!!! At the end of the book ive learn that the authur is writing another series that has Jeno Hector and Gertie which is coming out 2019!!! I can tell you this i WILL be reading that new series once it comes out!!! Im soo excited!!!

I now have a major book hangover and I am so sad the series is over. I’m glad there’s other series that tie in but still. This was a great ending. I suggest if you listen to the audio not to do so while driving. Otherwise, you will be slamming on brakes because of the massive discoveries you never saw coming. And boy is there a doozy. Gertie is very clever, especially for her age. She manages to outmaneuver the gods and keep some what of peace. The action never stops and there is no boring spots. I wish so much that the author would write a book for Jeno and his love of 30 years. It could even be called a prequel if nothing else lol.

If you like audiobooks, try this one. With the first one I wasn’t crazy about the narrator. Her voice was great for telling the story but the character voices sucked, especially the males. It was like a computer or monotone at times. And they mostly sounded the same. The females weren’t as bad. In this book, however, she did so much better. She has improved greatly. Well done.

In this final book of the trilogy about the vampires of Athens Gertie strives to save her new found family, and she pursuades them all to travel to the US in order to stay safe since Athens had become a boiling pot of strife. However she, Jeno and Hector cannot in all conscience remain in the US, they feel duty bound to return to stop the war looming on the horizon. Vampires are threatening to create new vampires, whilst the Gods continue to play their games using these vampires as their pawns. This final episode is heart stopping, I feared for our young heroes lives many a time, but rooted for them to see all those they loved returned to safety and their families. Gertie is forced to choose between the two men she loves, and it is heartbreaking that she needs to do so. I really enjoyed the way this vampire trilogy turned out. Eva Pohler is amazing in her knowledge of the old Olympian gods and the myths built around them, turning this series into something extra special.

I really really really wanted to like this book. Something about Percy Jackson crossing over with Twilight seems appealing, but this book failed epically. The writing is juvenile, the dialogue forced, and I absolutely hated the way some of the characters acted. They seemed too cartoonish, too outlandish to be realistic. It was so bad, I literally leafed through the book just to find out what happens.

I only usually rate books with a star rating but this is one of the best series I have read. There are twists and turns throughout the series and there is so much packed into the three books. The ending is sad and unexpected but still enlightening. It is really well written and the story is compelling. I am now going to read The Underworld saga by Eva Pohler and if it is as good as the Vampires of Athens series I am in for a treat.

This was pretty great ending to a series. Both exciting and sad in some ways. I like how Eva left open a small whole for if she wanted to continue Gertie story. I think I would be interested to learn of her adventures knowing who she is now.

This is a great YA romance series packed with lots of stuff about vampires and some really original combinations of vampires and ancient Greek gods. I enjoyed the first so much I downloaded the other 2 in the series. If your kids enjoy books like Rick Reardon's Trials of Apollo and Percy Jackson series, they will enjoy this, especially the girls as its written from a 17 year old girls POV.

The final book in the Vampires of Athens Series would get 3 and half star rating from me if i could, and was a one day read. It was better than okay and I will reread the series and recommend it others even though I do have my issues with it. I was at one point completely engrossed into the story. The momentum of the second book carries well into this one. Though the story does feel a bit jumbled at times, lots of stop and go mini conflicts with no overall direction, as the fate of the vampires in Athens remains the primary issue up in the air. There is an overall uncertainly as to what will happen because when it comes to all things Greek, tragedy is a must at some level.

This book gives the reader little time to rest as one problem flows into another for our heroine, and there is a very Percy Jackson action adventure feeling in it. The fact that there was no ultimate “big bad” as an antagonist adds to the story in its own way, because you can never be certain where trouble is about to pop up. It make the fates of the characters we have come to care about all the more central to the story as Gertie tries to untangle all the knots involved without creating more.

One thing did happen that did slam the breaks on the momentum of the story for me, and I had to try to accept it then move pass it like it had not happened. At one point Eva Pohler once again dances on the 4th wall as Gertie ponders upon what typical happens toward the end of a good adventure story when the hero/heroine either thinks all is lost or comes to a dramatic self realization as they are coming to the climax. Mind you without spoilers, Gertie is thinking of herself as if she is in a adventure story of her own and is approaching the climax of her own story, but then she pinches herself and dismiss the idea because of course she is not..... It is a short few paragraphs that is so distracting Pohler basically smacks the reader in the face saying “Dear reader I know what you might be thinking, and do not be so sure of the conclusion of the book you're reading.”

When it comes to the romance.... The love triangle did feel forced in the first book and made little sense when you put into perspective with the three individuals involved. Hector is a 18 year old Greek demigod who falls hard for the heroine at first sight basically...or at least a couple days. Basically they both have the “hi you're hot wanna go out” mentality. At the same time Jeno is an ancient vampire who has had many loves and is on rebound because he just came from burying the woman he has loved for 30 years before he meets Gerti a teenager on a bus who happens understand him because she has read a lot about greek lore and vampires. It was cliché to the point of distracting.

Thankfully it stopped being so forced in the second book to the point it started to feel real as the characters had depth added to them. The relationships became part of a story rather than the story. The love stories do come to a semi satisfactory, and of course bittersweet, conclusion in this book.

I can not say much more without have spoilers so I will say this. Eva Prohler spins a good tale. As an advid reader I will enjoy getting into the Gatekeeper Saga soon. As a hobby writer with extremely poor grammar and skills I do feel guilty about my complaints about a professional writers work when I can only imagine the effort and research that goes into something like this.

On the last book I kinda was upset with Gertie because she put herself in the love triangle but the she said she loved Jeno out of pity... that she wasn't actually in love with him... and then we got that ending
So it was nice and reasonable of her to say she would rather be a vampire than killing him.
Good book. Think it might be the better of the trilogy.

I sobbed so badly when I read that ending (at like 2 am because I read at unusual hours)... even thought it was his own choice to end his life and go to the Champs Elysees... I wanted him to live and finally get his happy ending... I like him!

I was very happy with the way this series was wrapped up. While I would love to see more books in the series, it ended without dragging things out and wrapped everything up nicely. I will be checking out more books by this author!

This was an amazing final book for the series. I enjoyed reading it and there are some endings that I think could be written better but this one wasn't. Gertie was an amazing character and I'm glad I got to live in her adventures. Great book!
