All Emma Wentworth wanted was to find a love match.

But life had a different plan for her. As of twenty she already had elopement etched on her list of sins and the betrayal from the man she thought she had loved.

Humiliated and heartbroken, she vowed never to rely on her emotions again, that is until the U.S. Marshal, Mr. Johnathan Hawk, arrives in London and the familiar stirring in her heart awakens the feelings she worked hard to bury.

He is a breath of fresh air and wild, but she reminds herself that emotion and men only brought her nothing but heartache and gossip in her life. Yet there is something deeper than a fleeting desire for the handsome stranger, something very familiar in his eyes, and she fears she may fall madly in love with the wrong man—again.

Johnathan Hawk’s life is anything but simple.

Everywhere he went, trouble often followed, that’s why when beautiful Lady Wentworth sets his heart pumping, he vows to stay far away from her as possible. Besides, she is everything he is not and from an entirely different world.

And he has a job to do, apprehend the man who murdered his brother and return to Boston. Until the killer sets his eyes on Lady Wentworth, and Johnathan is left with one choice.

It’s simple, he tells himself, keep her safe until the threat is resolved. But, even as he devises a plan, he knows in his heart this will be anything but simple.

Although the book throws a hand full of characters at you right from the start, once you sort them out there is a very good story beneath it. Basically you have Jonathan Hawk, an American Marshal, chasing a criminal who is responsible for the death of his brother. He meets Lady Emma Wentworth and tries not to show his love for her. Too late! Jonathan and Emma are on the run from a killer, her brother is dying (why wasn't someone secretly poisoning him?) There is murder, mayhem, love and action in this book. It is riveting from the beginning to the end. I received this free ARC but it in no way influenced my review.

Last wishes

Jonathan is a US Marshall hunting a dangerous killer! His sister is drawn to Jonathan but her brother doesn't approve of Jonathan and betrothed her to an older vile man! Emma just wants to marry for love but she known for her past mistake of trusting to easily! There is chemistry between the H and He but not enough to me! I understand Emma was torn between her desires and that of her brothers but it would have been a lot easier if her brother hasn't kept secrets of his own and reached for a little of his own happiness!
Emma feels like she's trapped but her despicable want to be fiance shows his true colors but is it much too late as Jonathan won't let the aristocracy belittle him again? Will Emma go after what she wants or will Jonathan return to Boston and leave Emma and their love behind??

I enjoyed this historical romance story with the two main characters that were Lady Emma Wentworth and U.S. Marshall, Mr. Johnathan Hawk. And also the rest of the characters to.

U.S. Marshall Johnathan Hawk is after a villain that has killed his brother. His plans is to take this villain back to Boston but something happens to prevent this. Instead the villain gets way until he set his site on Lady Wentworth.

Lady Emma Wentworth followed her heart once but it did not go well. She has decided that she will not follow her emotions again. But when she meet U.S. Marshall again things start to happen.

This was a fun read. It had a bit of a mystery to it. Quite a bit of adventure and suspense. There was a sad bit that had my eyes watering a little. There are also a few laughing parts to.

I received a complimentary copy via author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

Johnathan and Emily.
After the second book ended I could not wait to get into the third book I wanted to know what the problem was by the way that was a good cliffhanger! This one is Hawk and Emily's story. If you read the second you know right from the first Emily was attracted to Hawk and good old Hawk was attracted too. Then of course there are going to be problems big problems from so many different places what an entertaining read! I loved the book and guess what kids it is another cliffhanger. It helps if you have read the other book prior to this one but it really is not necessary for it is a complete story and so well-written. I highly recommend this book, the series, and I look forward to reading more of Kristi Jun's work. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

This series of books are a wonderful read. Although they follow on from the last they can be read as a standalone but once you get to the end, you will be hanging out for the next. This book had a bit of everything in it. Adventure, romance and action. I felt the characters worked well together and I enjoyed the underlying story. This book was a little sadder than the ones before and it would also be more enjoyable if you have read the beginning of the series. As in past books, there is some sex but this reviewer skipped it and it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book. Now again we wait for the next book to see what will transpire. I was gifted this book and loved it.

Johnathan and Emily's Story . . .

I enjoyed reading this book with its intriguing story line. The story is generally entertaining, while also filled with action, mystery, adventure and suspense. U.S. Marshal, Mr. Johnathan Hawk, has a job to do. He is only here in London to apprehend the man who murdered his brother and then he will leave. But the killer sets his eyes on Lady Emily Wentworth, and his priorities change. Can Johnathan keep her safe?

The interaction between the characters makes it feel real, bringing it all to life. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Quick but nice read. Enjoyed her first two books. After reading over 380 books a year there aren't many books that bring a tear to my eye and I actually teared up regarding a certain story towards the end. Tugged my heart a bit which was a nice surprise.
