A politically expedient marriage, rife with bitter history.
King Arthur has hewn peace for Britain as promised and Camelot has enjoyed five years of plenty. Gawain, one of Arthur’s greatest warriors and companions, seethes restlessly now war has ended. He brings himself to marry the politically suitable Tegan of Dunoding, who is far removed from the soft, gentle women he prefers, and irritates him more often than not.
Tegan’s bitterness toward Gawain is driven by a history he doesn’t remember, and that she cannot forget, which dooms the marriage. When Tegan’s closest friend, Queen Guenivere, goes missing, sending Camelot into chaos, Arthur tasks Gawain and Lancelot with finding the Queen. Gawain shocks Tegan by seeking her unique talents to help with the quest. The two must find a way to work together, for the good of Camelot and Britain…

This book is the best of the series so far. Cannot wait to see what will happen in the next one.
Plot
This book follows the love story of Tegan and Gawain. In the background we have the abduction of Guenivere by Melwaes and we also see Arthur and the problems he had with some ambassadors of the Roman Empire.
Characters
Tegan
Tegan was our main character in this one and I really love her. She is a warrior woman, she can be insecure and I like the way the author portray some of her insecurities. I love how Tegan was always there for Guenivere and how she tried to help her in every way she could.
Gawain
Gawain is one of Arthur's nephew and the love interest of Tegan. He likes to drink and bed women and he is also a good fighter. I like the way the relationship with Tegan was developed and how he changed through the novel.
Arthur
As always Arthur is a very fine king. He cares a lot for Britain and his people, but at the same time he can be a very cold person. But again, he has a lot of responsibilities.
Guenivere
I absolutely loved her portray here. He is a very sweet person, who tries to help Arthur and his dream, but she is also a very scared person. She needs to give a child to Arthur, but she can't conceive to full term, so she spends very part of this novel being afraid of being putting aside by the king.
Lancelot
We see more of him here and I love what we get of him. Lancelot is a character that is very divided between his friendship and loyalty to Arthur and his love for Guenivere. He always tries to do what id right, but sometimes heart can come in the way.
World-Building
We now see Camelot and how developed the city is. We also saw a little bit of Avalon and I really like the way the author decided to portray the land and how magical it is.
Romance
The main romance is between Tegan and Gawain. They don't like each other in the beginning, but because of some political causes they have to married each other. So, I like the way their marriage was represented here and how much their relationship developed.
The other romance is between Lancelot and Guenivere. This book marks the beginning of the affair between these two and I like how the writer decided to describe that. Guenivere is very insecure and afraid, Lancelot was always there for her and that's how they fall in love. I though their moments were really sweet and I look forward to see more of them.
Final Thoughts
This book was easy and a very fast read, I really like the way the author show us the relationship between the characters in this one.
Oh wow! There's so much going on in this book that my head is whirling. The title indicates part of the story, but oh there's so much more going on. And really no one could write a book like this except Tracey Cooper-Posey. Unlike previous books in this series which focus a lot on battles, the conflict in this book comes from unexpected sources. Guenivere has lost another baby and isn't really allowing herself to recover and grieve. She also has some troubling emotions regarding the men in her life. Princess Tegan is dealing with her own turbulence - she's had strong feelings for Gawain for such a long time that the way she deals with him has changed to be rather confrontational. Unfortunately the two of them are forced into an alliance and this means sparks are going to fly and things are going to burn hot. Series like this one, with huge casts of characters at play, can so easily get muddied and people can get lost in what's going on. Somehow this doesn't happen here. A king we met right back at the beginning of the series pops up again and he's just as manifest now as he was back then. I loved this book and savoured each and every word, even the ones that made my heart break a little bit.
Main characters to savour that wrapped themselves around my heart!
I loved the gripping storyline with plot twists and intricacies that intrigued me. As with the other books in the series I love that Arthur and Guenivere's story is told in parallel to that of the soldier and lady in waiting. The small slice-of-life details of the everyday citizens of Camelot are what bring the tale to life and gives me the sense that I KNOW these characters. Full immersion into the life and times, is such an interesting backdrop to the action and interactions of the storyline.
The main characters were both very strong and independent so therein lay the impediments to their relationship. It was a compelling story watching them butt heads and bounce off each other despite their chemistry simmering beneath the surface.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a well written and immersive experience in historical times. You don't need to know the legends of Arthur to enjoy any of these books, as I started this series with only a familiarity of the main characters names' and I was completely hooked from the first book!
I cannot get enough of this series! This is the legend of King Arthur like you’ve never read before. It is action-packed, thought-provoking, heart-wrenching and a bunch of other hyphenated words. I think the dialogue between Tegan and Gawain in this book is my favorite amongst the main characters of the rest of the series. One of my favorite exchanges: “Walk with me to the arena, where there are blades you can use to gut me, if the mood strikes you.” “For what possible reason would I do that?” “Gut me? Is it not an ambition of yours?” Tegan rolled her eyes.
As with all of Tracy Cooper-Posey’s amazingly detailed and unique characters Tegan is a strong-willed and independent woman with secret vulnerabilities. You can’t help but fall in love with and feel compassion for these characters. Add in flawless world-building, witty dialogue and plotting that would make Machiavelli proud and you have the perfect escapist story. Which is something I think everyone could benefit from at some point in this pandemic craziness.
The Abduction of Guenivere is the 7th book in the Once and Future Hearts and it continues the saga of a medieval kingdom inspired by Arthurian legend. It marks the middle of the planned collection and surely it makes us eager for the rest of the story. The court of Arthur is vibrant and successful after the defeat of its Saxon enemies. Arthur wishes to consolidate his kingdom and needs an heir. Unfortunately, his queen Guenivere is yet unable to give him that. At court the knights and ladies also embark in the flirtations permitted by the peace but also engage in political connections that will ensure the unity of the kingdom. Tegan is a princess and warrior and she too must bow to a political marriage to a northern knight with whom she had a past history. This is the set of another exciting adventure that will take this couple on a journey to rescue the queen and find their true feelings. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
Although the title might indicate that this book centers around Arthur, Guenivere and Lancelot, it does not. This is a story of Gawain and Tegan, who, while they are deeply involved with Camelot and the more famous characters mentioned, have their own destinies to sort out in the midst of the drama of Arthur's court. Most of the characters are familiar from earlier books in the series. The action is fairly well-known, especially if one has read other versions of the Arthurian cycle. Tracy Cooper-Posey's Britain is populated by witches and seers; pagans and monks; warriors of both sexes and ladies in waiting. Most importantly, Ms. Cooper-Posey's Britain contains people who create magic: the magic of sorrow and betrayal, of love and loyalty, of friendships and enmity, of living. The human magic the characters weave, sometimes without realizing fully that they are doing so, runs through this book and through the entire Once and Future Hearts series.
Another great read by Tracy Cooper-Posey, the seventh book in the Once and Feature Hearts series “Abduction of Guenivere.” Once I started reading this book I could not put this book down until I was finished. Another great installment to the series. What I like the most with this bitch app knows the imagery. Feels like you are there right there with the characters. There’s such depth especially with the characters. Then there is the emotional aspect. I felt for Lancelot, Tegan, Cadiz and Bricius when Elaine passed. I also feel for Tegan with how Gawain treats her. Along with the feelings for Guenivere. I highly recommend this book especially when you want to know what is happening in the Once and Feature Hearts series.
I was given an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.
Another magnificent story. Somehow Tracy Cooper Posey takes this very well know tale and makes it new and fascinating for us. Having always been interested in myths and legends, I have found Tracy to be meticulous in weaving known legends and historical detail into original stories that fascinate. Her characters are real, with real problems, in real situations. The scenes are so realistic that I can picture myself being part of the story. And I really appreciate the list included at the beginning of the book in “Who’s Who and What’s What” which includes “Houses, Clans and Tribes”. The Maps section is also a great help and fun. If you enjoy history and romance, this book is for you!
This is another wonderful book by Tracy Cooper-Posey! Her characters are familiar to us and yet she's created new ones to draw us further into the Arthurian world we know and love. The plot is anything but predictable, with loads of twists and turns to keep you reading long past bedtime. I can never resist her stories!
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this terrific book and absolutely had to purchase a copy of it. It's just too good for words and I can heartily recommend it to anyone who loves Arthurian tales, solidly well-told romances, or a combination of both!
Another excellent Arthurian legend adventure; so magnificently written that it makes you question the reality of Camelot. The main characters, Tegan and Gawain, are enmeshed with King Arthur, Guenivere, his Queen, and the daily living at court. There is intrigue, magic, danger, unrequited love, but most importantly the awakening of love. The daily lives of all those involved, are what make this story so amazingly realistic. I won't do spoilers so I hope what I've given you is enough to make you want to grab this, and all the other books in this series. You will fall in love with all the characters you meet in these legendary, and fact filled, stories.
Like the rest of the Once and Future Hearts series, there is a large cast of characters, each a unique person and each carrying a role throughout Abduction of Guenivere and the series. I recommend starting with book 1. It helps understand the background of the characters. Even if this is your first foray into the Once and Future Hearts series, you will enjoy it for it's self. It left me wanting more, which is the mark of a great series. I'm not a huge Arthurian legends fan but I am a fan of Abduction of Guenivere and this series. Each time I read one of this authors novels I am stunned at her ability to breathe life into a story. As she does with, at times, delicacy and often the toughness of battle. A lovers kiss and a sword shining with blood. Arthur and Guenivere, Gawain and Tegan, plus Merlin, and Lancelot, are all there, real and alive and working for the betterment of Camelot. No matter what the future holds they have the now. There is heartbreak and love found. A truly beautiful story worth reading again and again. I received an advance reader copy of this book.
Abduction of Gueneviere Tracy again has written a story that grips the reader and pulls you into the story. The court of King Arthur has many stories to tell, and Tracy does it well. Love, marriage, intrigue, kidnapping fighting, and more make this book an enjoyable read that is hard to put down. Even though this is a continuation of a previous book, it can be read as a stand alone which allows anyone to pick it up and enjoy it. This is an awesome read and highly recommended. I was given an advanced reading copy to read for an honest review.
Tracy Cooper-Posey weaves a world that quickly becomes your world - complete in every way. When you finish this book, you’ll look around and wonder where you are and why the devil you are there. This is a wonderfully complex tapestry of Guenivere, Arthur, Tegan and Gawain, and, of course, Lancelot. Enjoy! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
I was impatient for this book to be released, it was soo captivting and well written, that I finished it to fast, and now I have to wait for the next book in this series. But thankfully Tracy Cooper-Posey is an avid writer and writes books in different genres I have not read yet. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
Outstanding addition to the Once and Future Hearts series. Well-known names from the legends are thrilling to read about. The story is different, unexpected, and thrilling. I love this series. Highly recommend.
I volunteered to read an ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion
Again, I loved it. The author creates a very detailed story that takes you into Arthur's time, the characters are authentic and easy to like. I couldn't put the book down and read in one go, staying up until deep in the night.I am so curious to know how the series will develop!
